Georgetown Moving and Storage Company Reviews (72)

Dear Revdex.comFrom time to time we have unfortunate pleasure serve typical [redacted] customers who cannot afford moving services in the first place, so providing false information to receive low cost estimate to have on the end opportunity to cry how movers were expensive and did bad job and more. From the...

beginning, no, there are NO storage units listed on the contract! What, did she say she got 2 of them? This is not something you forgot to tell when getting a quote right?Yes, we have another customer scheduled for 9pm unload in NJ, plenty of time to do this small job and unload 4!, just 4 items that belong to another customer, sp as the manager I have placed 4 men -> 1 extra men FREE OF CHARGE on her move.Let see list of the items: 2 TVs 1 TV Stands, 1 Tables 6 Chairs 1 Glas Tops, 1 Bed King/Queen 1 Night Tables 1 Chest of Drawers, 1 Bookcases 1 File Cabinets, 1 Tables 4 Chairs, 10 Boxes Small 20 Boxes Medium 20 Boxes LargeWhen movers arrived they called office immediately about her lies! FULL apartment filled with boxes and some not boxes items, 4 men took 7.5 HOURS to move not just 400 cbf but ENTIRE FULL 1200 cbf TRUCK and still not enough! Movers have moved at least 150 boxes, large, huge boxes, most from home depot, wardrobe sizes and bunch of items and still not enough! Why she lied? I have no idea, If we knew we will send her 2 truck 7 men for this move. More boxes that she lied but we have moved for her compensated items from the list, so I have decided not to make angry another customer because for her behavior and end this ridicules job, leaving her not starter 2 storage units she never mention from the beginning.Out terms are clear, we work per hour, again, we work per hour, we do work per hour. So amount she paid was for what we did. No, we did not provide any estimate based on fake her information so she can expect low cost, not exceed quote. Nice joke! She paid for all the job we did, so if she wish to complete her move we be glad send her 2 extra trucks and 6 men for a day of work but, well, we need to charge more.Since she has received 1 extra men and provided false info about her inventory, we will not provide her any discount, any charge back - will go to collection agency and ruin her credit, so forget about renting any apartment in the area.Damages; well if stuff is broken and boxes were packed by her that mean she packed them poor, unprofessional. We do provide her with free basic valuation, so we may process her claim form based on the insurance she purchased? Did she, obviously not.Summary: Attorney Grievance Commission and Office of Bar Counsel in MD allow to file complain for an attorney in case attorney behavior is not honorable. We do believe her approach to this case, providing falls information to get a cheap quote (2 units, more boxes, items), not understanding terms and conditions, threating small business about disputing charges for ALREADY DONE BIG SIZE OF THE JOB, HER 150 boxes did not appeared magically in the new place and demanding financial credits just proof not honorable behavior and may be reported in case she will escalate any future case.Copy of the estimate will be provided for Revdex.com request

All information provided in the statement by customer is incorrect. We have provided in writing fair cost estimate based on the list of furniture we got from customer, well unfortunately all list was just fake. Customer have had MUCH more items at home, means she lied to us from the beginning....

And this is a reason cost of store was higher. Price $35 is fake again, our lowest one is $55 and again price was provided to her information. Storage out cost is obviously additional since customer did not specified final destination address. This is typical customer that do not understand basic written estimates. Compensation will not be provided since we do have signed by her contract with all details related to all charges, customer have agreed to all and confirm it by signing the agreement.

Dear Revdex.comThere is no proof our truck damaged any brick wall, when I talked to customer he sent me some pictures with damaged brick wall and ... that's all. There is NO evidence or proof that our truck making the damage, there is some general pictures before and after the damage and by...

coincidence move with us scheduled for that day. I wish to point probably at least 4-5 moving trucks were next to this brick wall that day. Additionally manager was present next day  after the damage was pointed to us, the "brick wall" is an metro exhaust went, there is at least 2 on the property and EACH or it have marks of being damaged in some time. Thank youJim

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  I moved from a 2 bedroom apartment.  There is no reason the move should have taken 7.5 hours.  At 700pm the day of the move, the crew chief said I was no longer on the clock due to the damaged and sick worker.  I was also charge an hour travel time when the residences were 5 minutes apart.      I did not have the movers move any extra items.  They ONLY items moved were the items that the movers loaded on the truck. The movers left half of the items in the garage and foyer area that came off of the truck.  I filled out the claim form based on purchase condition as the form suggested.  The amounts claimed were the purchase price of the items.  I would like to see a sample claim form so I can see how the company would like it filled out.
At the time of the move, I did not accept service.  I was held at the mercy of the movers because they had all my items.  I spoke with the company representative several times during the move expressing my displeasure with the move.I was told by the crew chief that the move would be completed the following day.  It did not happen.  This response does not address the damage done to my home by the movers and the missing or stolen item.  I would like the damages repaired by a contractor of my choice.  My items were not damaged and my integrity is not in question.  If you could see my home, it would be very clear how the items were damaged.  I am Regards,

Dear Revdex.com
We clearly can get a picture about this customer, not organized, too busy with too many tasks at one moment and with too small space customer.
Her storage was so packed so 1 truck was not enough! No, movers did not disappeared for 2...

hours, besides where customer was? Customer could stay with movers all the time. No? Why? Nobody told her too leave. Just another trick to complain for no reason by some low educated individual. Well waiting for Verizon guy that could be scheduled on next day? This is customers poor organization. After that movers were bagging her all day to be present next to the door and direct them because she was the one to pack all the boxes and we do not know where to place all them, but no, she is somewhere .... again.
Is she mentioned boxes are covered with matures and box spring? Well ... this is so clearly confirms her poor organization. Movers placed items exactly where customer show them to do this, we work per hour! Well, she do not want to pay and demand discount but from another hand want to save money and dump all to garage ... I do not see the logic here.  Where the customer been when movers placed all stuff there? She was present .. no? Just being surprised after a 3 months?
No, we have not received any claim form or complain from her.  Her move was 3 months ago!

I am rejecting this response because:
Actual Quote on Georgetown Movers website:Full protection for your furniture with free or charge moving blankets, see how we do it ... no scratches, no dents!Clearly when we saw this and the accolades on Georgetown Moving's website, we thought this would be how our furniture would be handled and we put our trust in their team.  Georgetown Moving damaged SEVERAL pieces of hi-end furniture, put holes in our walls and scratched our brand new hardwood floors.  They clearly did not protect furniture as stated on their website.  We were told to complete an "insurance claim form" outlining damages, which we did.  Georgetown Moving never informed us that even "basic valuation" coverage would be determined by Georgetown Moving, not an independent/objective party.  Where did Georgetown Moving ever make it clear that any damages would be evaluated and determined by the owner himself, not an insurance company or independent party?  It is clear that Georgetown Moving mishandled our furniture, and did not treat it as they state on their website, and now they are refusing to provide any reimbursement for damages.  This move cost us $6,000 and will cost us thousands more in repairs.  This is the most unprofessional business we have ever dealt with. We do not understand how a business can mishandle their client's belongings and take no action to correct the situation, yet be so highly rated by the Revdex.com. I am rejecting Georgetown Moving's response and would like a neutral, third party to determine how to properly correct the situation. Regards,

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
1) No balance is due Georgetown Moving & Storage. Their claim of a $683 unpaid invoice is FALSE!
The contracted flat rate agreed was paid in full upon move completion March 1st, 2014.
On April 23, 2014 Georgetown Moving & Storage sent an email stating: " Your Claim Account [redacted]  has been processed and upon examining the supporting pictures of damage to the specified items you were found qualified for reimbursement."  They further advised "We have accepted larger shipment within the same price and have provided the extra 3rd men on the delivery/unloading location free of charge. Georgetown also wrote: "Please note that the Long Distance flat rate is built and provided strictly based on the List of Inventory/ provided by Customer/ Table of Measurement and weight." The size and capacity of the truck sent my Georgetown for the job was the only one used.

2) Their crew reported upon arriving there were significantly more items, pieces of furniture and specially boxes than anticipated. They did however only load what was suppose to be the capacity for the truck.  As stated in my original claim "only the items that fit in the truck contracted for, using Georgetown's telephone size estimate, were loaded." A larger truck was not used or requested; the crew advised when the tuck was full. All boxes/items that did not fit in the Georgetown truck that was contracted for were transported by other means arranged by me. The size of the truck and the load taken should have nothing to do with the extensive damage incurred to my belongings.
3) The proposed $150 is not in line with the general liability authorized under Released Rates Orders of the Surface Transportation Bureau of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Under the terms of the "Standard Declaration of Value/Basic Valuation sent and agreed with Georgetown," the maximum $50 per article is paid for items 83 lbs or greater. The eight (8) items destroyed in the move included: 2 Cabinets, a Wardrobe, 2 Sideboards, Glass Desk, 2 Tier Glass Table, and a Wood-Carved Floor Lamp, which were all greater than 83 lbs.  Therefore, the loss/ damage in the amount of $400 is expected and can be credited to my original form of payment. Georgetown is now trying to base their settlement offer on an arbitrary amount of $150  claiming less loss then proven via documentation.
 4) The damage to my items could only have taken place: (a) by being crushed during loading, (b) during the overnight storage, (c) during transport to New York, or at each of these 3 points. The arrival of my shipment was scheduled for March 1st at 3pm in NYC, however the truck did not arrive at my home until well after 6pm with the damaged load. The movers phoned us for directions and advised they got lost and encountered heavy traffic. Therefore the original time estimate played neither a role in the actual move nor the damage done.
5) As for the number of crew members assigned for the move, I am sure you are aware that the number of men loading or unloading can impact time, however it has absolutely nothing to do with care and the skill of professional movers. Georgetown's statement that it could "definitely prevent exposing your belongings to any damage if the content of our household goods was  specified correctly so you would accommodate us with more men crew and revaluate the time needed to accomplish both parts of the project..." has no baring whatsoever on the fact that my furniture sustained extensive damage while in Georgetown's possession.

[redacted]

Lets come back in time here. We have worked with customer to establish time frames for her move to make customer happy by cost and number of movers capable to do the project. Additionally we did have another customer scheduled after her move, because her list of the items needed to be move that day was quite small. Additionally to ensure success we have send her 4, not 3 men as estimated. We did this to ensure time frame of the project. 4th man was free of charge, customer did not pay for him. What we got instead? What was wrong? Well, fake information provided by customer! Again, by customer! Why did she lie? Why did she hide information about 2 storages? Why not say about number of boxes that were over 100! Because of fake information provided by customer her move took much longer and our another customer was in danger to make his move a disaster. She should not complain about the cost, we work per hour and that's she paid, for how many hours it took. You need more time to finish your move? Well, hire another movers, and pay for extra time. We do not work with customers like she. We do honest quotes for honest people based on honest information. Items was left behind because movers took her boxes that were blocking the items, she got 3 time more boxes that said she will have.Damage, customer have a right to purchase additional insurance, if not, she got free of charge very basic protection. If bill paid in full, customer have 14 days to submit a claim and all terms were provided to her and voice recording statement that she agreed to terms was saved.

I am rejecting this response because:
Georgetown Moving has proven without question a complete lack of competence and honesty as a business, and I would suggest with validity and documentation that you are fraudulent. Of course, everyone is at fault except for you and your incompetent and dishonest operation, not you. First you claim I'm unorganized as an excuse, then I'm not there to supervise, and so on. Funny how it is the customer'so fault that your organization just can't figure out how to do such a shower easy move without totally screwing it up. Seems to me that all of you need to be fired. It is clear that you are totally uninterested in providing any customer service, and every response I have gotten from you people has only been done when I have gone through formal channels -- and only to have your various excuses of why you shouldn't make this situation whole and resolve the issues which are well documented. That response has been coupled with clear ad hominem attacks which further prove my point. I am not going to back down for demanding my rights as a consumer for good service at a fair price. Obviously you think you can wear me down with your gathering bullying techniques. That could not be further from the truth.  Interestingly enough there are plenty of state and federal agencies that oversee fraudulent businesses such as yourself, as well as various feedback loops that are widely available for giving honest feedback to fraudulent operations like yours. So, either pay up the contested amount or deal with the consequences. Had you had the modicum of professionalism or class that even you people should possess to deal with the public, a respectful phone call might have addressed these issues.  However, this is the path you chose, so please enjoy the results. You have until12/15 to reimburse me for the contested amount.

valuables from this business! Now they're saying they only let people access their unit m-f  only until 4 pm! Everyone works way past that, and they refuse to access on the weekends! They won't accomodate! This is another complaint! First, they charge me to access y unit exorbinantly each TIME, and they don't provide hours/days to GET my valuables. This is literally robbery! I don't know what to do! I need to get my stuff. Help [redacted]

Crew was doing all hard job and customer should be 100% present. If you were not there your opinion is not worth to discus.Movers working for customer with customer, so any issue like "my boxes in the garage are not organized" should be addressed to moving crew same moment, not months later with Revdex.com.This is clear proof what type of individual we are dealing with here.

I am rejecting this response because:
As we previously stated it will cost $300 to fix the driveway pavers and it will cost at least $100 to fix the lawn damage. The offer of $80 is too low to cover the cost of the necessary repairs...Remember, Georgetown Movers damaged our property --they gouged more than a dozen driveway pavers when their truck entered our driveway. Their truck sank into our lawn and further damaged the lawn along the right side when their 25,000 pound truck was finally towed out of our lawn.Georgetown Movers is obligated to fully reimburse us for the repair costs...Again, please review the VIDEOs and photographs of the damage created by Georgetown Movers:[redacted]

Dear Revdex.com / Mr. [redacted]
Yes, I have showed quite soon on 12/31/14 just after damage was done. Did not really have to since we do have 90 days to examine an evaluate any damage but since I have received 2 voice messages and a fax sent by customer I have decided to act asap.
Yes again,...

When I looked at grass "damaged" by truck tire I have offered fix on the next few days. Again it was just a little mark tire like 6 feet long and 1 feet square mark on the grass, no big deal, especially for many of our guys that used to work doing landscaping, but not, Mr. [redacted] had some problem with that.
Some bricks on the driveway. I have examined them and those 3 concrete bricks were just slightly scratched on the surface, no big deal, no damaged, no broken just I guess for visual effect slightly scratched. if he decided to replace them is OK but because some salesman quoted him for $300 do not mean it value this much.
Grass issue. [redacted], is February! Look around, today was 27 degrees. From November all landscaping companies doing snow removal and winter preparation so nobody will fix your grass, not even employees of Revdex.com.  [redacted] do not sell grass in rolls and ground is too frozen to even starting this subject.
But since you are so hurry, I will offer you $20 and you can start to fixing it anytime.
I can add $20 for those slightly damaged bricks since those are definitely not classify to be replaced, just top needs to be send, nothing more. Those driveway bricks are made by pouring concrete in the mold, those can be cut and polish. Some salesman want to make money by offering "replacement only" idea. We do not think that is required but can offer $20 as well.
Thank you
Jim

Dear Revdex.comThis is just amazing how low educated people writing those complains! We have provided her with terms and conditions and have received her signature on the day of the move, here you go " "STORAGE:
Georgetown Moving and Storage Co. facility is not public open and inaccessible for individual customer." Insurance restrictions. All in English, but amazingly she do not understand. Well, so we have provided her with some access in BUSINESS TIME Monday - Friday before 4 pm because obviously will take some time to remove her items, AGAIN, not enough! Well, I guess we will just get back to original NO ACCESS terms she agreed.

Dear Revdex.comNumber of bedrooms do not limit number of hours, we have a plenty of move that required 4 men of the 2 bedroom place and 7.5 hours looks reasonable.Yes, driver stopped the clock because of the 1 sick worker, so that case is close now, customer have received a discount.Claim form have all explanation in English on the back. Customer DO NOT HAVE PURCHASED full value insurance, so all what we can offer to him is just 60 cents per pound. Additionally he packed 95% of items himself so we were unable to check if was not damaged before. After receiving claim form completed as should be with basic 60 cents per item, up to $50 per item with deductible, we will process the form, if not we will not be terrorized by some individual that do not want to accept the fact that by filling claim for full value (which he do not have) with highly thousands of dollars on it just made a insurance fraud we have had already report. Drywall repair is cheap and easy, but no corrected form, no repairs!

Dear Revdex.com
We will proof why customer lie in this case
1. Last name of the customer is [redacted], and as this is listed on our quote and was customer have never corrected it (in case if wrong)
2. Original estimate - PROVIDED IN WRITING - was to our storage ONLY, there is clearly GMS STORAGE listed as Destination so obviously there is no any "Pennsylvania" destination provided by customer from the beginning and we have not heard about this destination at all.
3. Items went to our storage were inventoried, and customer or customer's representative have verified this info and have SIGNED inventory list. We do not care that customer was not present, for us he have chosen his representative, so any claim about missing items is just the insurance fraud approach.
Please see attached signed Inventory and the Estimate.
