Legit businesses don’t use clickbait and false advertising to rake in customer information. This website isn’t meant to connect users to the best rates on car insurance. It connects users to weak, publicly available insurance providers to make it seem like it’s legit. The information is really collected to RESELL as referrals. This practice is shady and dishonest. My phone BLEW UP with private insurance agents calling me from all over the country. I’m probably going to have to change my number now as I use my phone for my LEGITIMATE insurance business. Countless dollars will be lost in the process but I can’t have my phone riding with telemarketers at all hours of the day.

Your deceptive advertising practice is not being covered in your response. Nor is what you have done with my personal information, which was collected, sold, and dispersed based on fraud. The fraud being to provide me with an instant quote getting my insurance cost down to $49 a month. Your advertising leads people to believe that you are going to use your highly secretive ways and save me money. Instead of delivering on that promise, you sell my personal information to any company willing to buy. And now my personal information has been sold by you to many insurance companies. And you are not an insurance company, though your ads lead people to believe you are. But instead you are a lead company, using deceiving methods to gather the personal information of others and selling that information. I also ask the the Revdex.com report this case to the FTC and suspend this company from the Revdex.com for illegal and misleading practices.

Dear Mr. [redacted],   We apologize for any confusion with your experience using our service.  Our site and technology focuses on matching and connecting consumers with a small, optimized set of insurance carriers and agents out of hundreds in any given area where they are most likely...

to find savings.  While some of those providers do enable us to present estimated rates on our website or integrate with us to provide them only one click or call away, the experience depends on where you are in the country and the accuracy of the information you provide on our site.  In much of the US today, many of the best options available still require additional communication online and/or via telephone with the insurance provider themselves to procure an accurate quote, a process we are making ever easier by reducing duplicate form filling where possible and reducing the overall effort required to procure multiple, competitive quotes from an optimized set of providers in your area.  We also strive to explain our process throughout our website via our FAQ page, an explanatory consent disclosure on our form submission page and various sections of our Privacy Policy as well.  We appreciate your feedback and will use it to enhance the clarity of our service as we continuously work to improve our site.  That said, your information will be removed from our systems except as needed to include you in our global unsubscribe and do not call lists. Any and all communications regarding your inquiry will end shortly.   Best Regards, The EverQuote Team

While I believe the intent of Everquote is to reapond to my complain in personal manner, their answer does not address the issue I raise and that is simply this: if they can dupe me into clicking a link and "filling out a little information" - only to be swamped by 3rd party requests when I believed THEY - EVERQUOTE would be the delivery mechanism for those quotes, and I NEVER believed for one second I was going to be contacted by anyone other than them, I pity and other unsuspecting individuals with less internet savvy then mine who do this. They need to have a CLEAR disclaimer that states they are only an "information gathering source and a sourcing product and that in ALL LIKELYHOOD THEY will NOT respond, you IN FACT WILL most likely be contacted by those who respond to their query.  To be honest - their service is a false front, and unnecessary in almost every case, borrowing from the concept of "Lending Tree" mortgage services without disclosing they don't actually provide the service. They have been reported to the RI Attorney General in a complaint manner similar to this, and I will not relent until I see all ads pertaining to their service disclaim what I outlined above.

Everquote placed several adds on the internet such as ' Knoxville,TN: Residents who drive a [redacted] should check this out." or " Oak Ridge Residents who drive a [redacted] should check this out". When anyone clicks there is my Information. That is why I am disputing their response. But it seems they will never admit IT.

I am still not satisfied with apologies. Your method of doing business compromises an implied trust in that you divulge contact information to 3rd parties without advising (in very large clearly defined print and via a verification request) without permission and when that ins not the implied intent of the service. Again, this has been forwarded to the RI AG's office, as I believe changes must be made to comply with RI law.

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted].The response from the business is copied and pasted. It doesn't address a single item in my desired outcome/settlement requests sent in my complaint. It's a cookie cutter response to everyone who finds this to be a scam, which based on the reviews on Revdex.com, is a lot of people. It makes me feel like my complaint wasn't even read. Please address my outcome/settlement requests.Additionally, your wording in the response seems to show that you know, and are intentionally trying to be deceptive in your advertising and on your website in attempt to make more money. If you didn't hide your practices by making someone go to the FAQ page and slide it into the second paragraph of the privacy policy, then you would be a more transparent company. You advertise this as a quick and easy tool for customers yet you want them to comb fine print to see what they're really getting themselves into, which is just a scheme to make you money at the expense of those looking for a quick way to compare insurance.Again, review both of my messages and address all of the requests I've made and respond to all of them.[redacted]

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Since receiving your response I have continued to receive automated calls from EverQuote no less than every hour, including three just this morning. With each call I have answered and informed the agent that I should be on the Do Not Call list and need to immediately stop receiving calls. The incessant frequency of these calls is nothing less than harassment. I do not understand how any business could decide that this is an appropriate way to treat potential customers or to earn business. I would like assurance from you that I will not receive a single automated call from here on. If I do, I will submit a new complaint regarding these calls, and I will escalate this to the appropriate federal agency.
