I was scammed out of $245.00 by this website which mimics the IRS website when applying for my EIN Tax ID number.
On July 30th I was scammed out of $245.00 by this website which mimics the IRS website when applying for my EIN Tax ID number. It was not until today, August 3rd, that I was informed by my lawyer that it is suppose to be free to obtain an EIN number from the IRS. I paid by debit card and would like a full refund.

Lo and behold I go to this website and I file for an EIN number not knowing it was free on the IRS website well not only did they charged me three times for this one number he won't answer my calls it won't answer my emails I want my refund. It seems like they refuse to give it to me.

Hello and sorry for the problen. As we explained your credit card was declined twice and then had a 3rd successful charge on July 17th. Declined payments can be put on hold depending on your financial institution and although this hold is temporary, it is up to the banks to determine how long the hold will last.
I show 11 emails sent to you between July 17th and July 22nd, not including the weekend. Our last email to you was on July 22nd where we reached out to confirm that the 2 declined payments have been released to your account and if you had any further questions to reach out to us. As we did not hear back from you we believed the matter was settled. If it is not, please call our offices and we will see if we can provide you with further information to show your bank.
I was doing some on-line research through he IRS.GOV site, I had multiple windows open, somehow in the back and fourth I ended up on the Govt Assist, LLC site
(www.ein-gov-forms.com/) website.
The www.ein-gov-forms.com/ had the same font, highlighting navy blue color, etc. at a quick glance one would not at all be able to tell that it was NOT the official IRS website. No advertising banners, no colors out of place, no contrasting high profile banner, declaring that that it was not the official IRS.
I clicked on the option to file an EIN, entered the requested LLC company information, name, address and then my credit card information. Easy Peazy. TOO EASY!!!!!!
Before I realized my "Order #" appeared, my account was charged, it was that quick!!! Within less than five minutes my debit card was charge for $245.
As soon as I realized that it was NOT the IRS, but instead a filing service I reached out to their customer service. Of course they had a ''high volume of calls", after being on hold for 6minutes & 51 seconds it went to voicemail and I had to leave a message. I called right back and after 3mins./52 seconds a gentleman answered the phone, gave me the disclaimer that if the EIN # had already been issued then they could not provide a refund, he then put me on hold. He did not ask my name, order #, phone # before he put me on hold again. He then. came back 2 minutes later and told me that my application had been cancelled. No confirmation #, nothing and just hung up. I received the cancellation email a few minutes later. Now, I just have to make sure that the charges on my debit card are released within 3-7 business days, I am grateful to receive my refund, however, will be much happier once it is reflected in black and white. I would beware of this company as they are clearly trying to be deceptive and creating delay perhaps to then say that it is "too late" to provide a refund. If it walks like a duck, it looks like a duck, then it most likely is a DUCK! Beware! Beware! Beware!

This company takes money ($250.00) to file for a Federal EIN number, which is provided by the IRS for free. These are despicable people with no morals or conscience. What makes them think it is OK to charge someone $250.00 for something they can get done for FREE. It is really hard for honest people to trust anyone due to people like you. SCAM
This is the second complaint today. These people have no refunds even though mistakes are made. I ended up with two EIN numbers. One in my name and one in my business name and they are legit numbers because I called into the IRS and found out if they were good.
I didn't want the second one because they said I was getting a State Tax ID number not a Federal EIN number, but they didn't care they just put it in my farm name so they could charge me. Again no refunds or returns. After there called into the IRS you cant cancel them.
I'm sending a document that shows both scam websites and what they charged.

O stars - I mistakenly used this sight to get my EIN. There was a lot of confusion in filing that first required me to pay the $160 when the EIN through the IRS is free and instantaneous. I got duped by .com and not a .gov. Second I get the EIN with a notice to register on the EFTPS site. I go to sight and register, but I actually register for a second EIN number. I use the first EIN to register with AMAZON and they say the number doesn't work. I have had to cancel the second EIN number. I call IRS they say yes there is a number and don't understand why it doesn't work. I have requested my money back from Gov Assist dba irs-ein-tax-id.com I am mad at myself that did not find the IRS site first and frustrated that this company sent me on a spiral that doesn't seem to end.

Please note it may take the IRS several weeks to register the EIN in their online system but one can get a confirmation by calling the IRS. I apologize for the confusion with the EFTPS site, but we do not have any links or ask anyone to register on that site. The IRS generated email provides information on how one can register on their portal to pay federal taxes, but that information does not come from our company. It does seem as there is some confusion and we will be reaching out to you.

I do not even know how I got to this site, I followed a link my accountant sent me to the IRS's site. This site mimics the IRS site in color and font and I did not notice I was no longer on the IRS's site. After filling out the information, incorrectly (which, according to my accountant the IRS site would not allow me to submit with this mistake) I submitted and paid $245, thinking this the fee was required by the IRS; it is not, filing is free on the IRS website.
I circled back with my accountant who informed me this was a scam service (with lots of complaints in numerous forums). I immediately called them, and was promptly disconnected. I called back, was placed on hold for 22 minutes and suddenly a fast talking voice interrupted the cacophonous music and instructed me to leave a message with a list of information and immediately beeped and went to record. I believe I included all the information requested but the instructions went so fast I may have missed something. It has been 3 business days and I have not heard back.
I then filled out their web form and successfully submitted it. Within seconds I received an email which contained (copied and pasted):

It has been two business days and I have not heard back (they definitely have my email address and my phone number both from the message I left, the filing I made and the webform I filled out for customer 'service').
I cancelled my credit card and once the charge is processed I will open a dispute with my credit card company.

the purpose of my call, and my email was to halt the service before the EIN was issued, as per my messages. Once I realized I had been diverted to a site which mimics the IRS in color and font and charges for services which are free I attempted to stop the service from being provided.

As to the URL your accountant provided, I have no information. I am stating that your accountant sent you a link, and you registered for your EIN on our site, it is not possible to divert URLs. Please check the email you provided as we have reached out. We can answer questions you have regarding the existing EIN but domain registration is completely separate.

I think I will file a complaint with the Attorney General's office. This website charges 245.00 to obtain a Tax ID Number online, which you can do in the same amount of steps on the IRS's website FOR FREE. There is no benefit to this service that warrants the fees they charge. I accidentally started to apply for an EIN on their website for my late Grandmother's estate, and realized when it tried to charge me that I had made a mistake. Further down was the IRS website, I entered the same exact information and got my Tax ID Number in minutes, for free. I feel sorry for anyone who does not realize this and gets charged a hefty fee, thinking it was just another charge in the probate process. Oh, and on their website it reads, "The IRS does not supply Tax ID Numbers via e-mail." - this is 100% FALSE as that's exactly how the IRS sends you the tax ID when you apply online, unless you choose to receive by mail. I seriously do not understand how some people sleep at night, and I echo Thomas D's concerns below that there is more to this scam that has to do with obtaining information for illegal purposes.

I actually thought this was part of the government. Didn't know that the $245 they had me pay was to get an ein that I've already had and got for free. I thought it was processing to make my company a LLC but when I got the email I received a image download from the IRS they have me something that is free to do and I already had. But then says I still have to file all these other documents with the state. That's what I thought I was doing not paying for a free ein number. It's really upsetting that companies like this are taking advantage of people. You call to talk to them and people are rude. So now I have to pay more money to file papers I thought had already been done with the $245 I paid. I was starting a business because covid 19 has me not working and basically they just taking money from people. I can understand a small fee if you are a third party company but almost $250 for something that's free is just ripping people off.

After I completed the order, I went back and looked at the emailed receipt Govt Asst sent me and realized that this was a third party website and not government employees processing this for me at the IRS. I then went to checked my order status on Govt Asst's website and at 10:51pm 5/16/2020 and their site stated my order application was pending so I immediately requested (via email) a cancellation and full refund because order wasn't processed yet and services hadn't been rendered. Also, immediately checked the IRS website and their site said the IRS EIN online assistant was currently unavailable so this again hadn't been processed yet prior my cancellation and refund request. My concern is that this webpage is designed to look like, feel, and mimic a federal IRS webpage which is very misleading and deceptive to consumers including having "irs" in the domain name. A consumer doesn't realize this isn't the IRS until after you have completed the order (providing sensitive information) and remitting money $245 to them for my EIN to be emailed to me the same day. It is not my position to say whether this is Govt Asst's intent or not, yet this is very much misleading and makes a consumer feel that they have been scammed. The Govt Asst website also stated that the IRS doesn't email EIN numbers so they can and the IRS will send by mail. However the IRS website gives the option to receive by mail or they populate immediately and you can download the pdf document and save to a file yourself the same day.
I am fully aware how to complete IRS forms yet wasn't sure if the IRS changed their process and also starting charging a fee because I thought that I was on the secure IRS website. After the fact, I confirmed the IRS has not changed their process and can be completed on their website online by the consumer to receive immediately via download. It was never my intent to have a third party website do this for me. Govt Asst also states that government assistants process this for you in the IRS system yet I thought that meant government employees of the IRS (very confusing). At this point, I just want my order cancelled and money refunded.

They have a deceptive IRS like name: ***. They do not reveal their charges at the point of sale or at a conspicuous location.
They have a deceptive name that makes you believe you are on IRS website:***. On 5/7/2020, I applied for EIN number on their website assuming I was on IRS website. At the point of sale they did not reveal that they were going to charge me $245. This is an exorbitant amount. Their charges are not clearly stated on their website. I found the charge when checking me credit card statement. If I had applied on IRS website the application process would have been virtually identical and there would have been no charge. This business does not provide value to the consumer and their primary expense is the money they pay to Google for deceptive advertising.
IRS does not charge for applying for EIN. Govt Assist, LLC, should refund $245.

They have refunded the money they charged me. Their website contains a lot of text. A vast majority of visitors are unlikely to read all that to find the sections they quote above. The matter is closed for me.
This website is a total scam. They mislead people by misrepresenting themselves as the IRS online filing service NOT as third party data entry thieves (stated vaguely in non binding language). They do absolutely NOTHING extra above what you would enter on the ACTUAL IRS site.

Advertising/Sales Complaint - Govt Assist, LLC misleads consumers to believe they are associated with the IRS and charge for a free service.
This company is misleading the consumer to believe they are associated with the IRS. They charged me $245 to obtain a EIN number, which is a free service from the IRS. I conducted a Google search for IRS EIN Application and a link to their website came up as IRS-EIN-TAX-ID.com. This is very deceptive!

This site is very misleading. With the similarities of an official government website you are lured into filling out all the info as you would have done anyways for the actual service through the IRS. BUT instead of reviving your EIN for free as should be you are charged $245. This is not ok. It's confusing and misleading. So misleading that even the name of the web site is " ***". This company is doing business Masquerading as an government agency. This is very misleading and wrong. Note in the attachment the name of the page to whom you pay.
I want a full refund from this misrepresented company. If my requests went further, I would also request, most likely along with many others, for the name of this "company" to be changed so it is clear that they ARE NOT the IRS
