After doing additional research, they ask the same questions as the official IRS website, no additional value is provided from this service. We have not received a letter with an EIN as stated on the website. Seeking a full refund.

Deceptive practice. I thought I was requesting an EIN from the IRS website, but it was not the case. An astronomical fee was charged.
On March 11, 2020, I submitted an application online through the IRS EIN TAX ID website for an EIN which I thought was through the IRS website. The name of the company is ***. The name of the website is very deceptive. I paid $245 from my bank card. After realizing this was not correct, I did research through the Revdex.com and noticed multiple individuals have had the same issue. Until now, I had no reason to believe that this was not associated with the IRS.

Most of the complaints about this outfit involve them charging for a service the government provides for free. I fear that while such concerns are well-founded, the primary source of revenue for this concern involves procuring social security numbers in order to sell to cyber-hackers for identity theft. I'm going to turn them into the FBI, as I'm concerned they may be criminals.
Our company has been in operation since 2016, we like many companies online provide document preparation services. One can file their taxes on their own or when can seek the assistance of a 3rd party to assist. Govt Assist has never had a security breach nor has any of our customers had their information stolen or sold.
Our payment gateway is Level 2 PCI compliant and we value information security above all else. All sensitive information is protected by database encryption and the connection is protected by SSL advanced encryption technology.
As noted on every page of our website we are a third party designee. Many individuals chose to work with businesses outside of the IRS due to the fact that the IRS site is only open limited hours and limited days. The IRS does not provide e-mail support, and often time has hours-long wait times when calling in, especially in this current environment.

The company makes their site look similar to the IRS site. They charge $245 for something that can be done for free on the IRS site.
I googled "apply for EIN". I thought I was clicking on the IRS website because Govt Assist's website is: ***. Their website seems to attempt to look like the IRS page. When I entered my information and payment info, I thought I was on the IRS page. The IRS page allows you to apply for an EIN for free, and the data entry is pretty much the same. Govt Assit is charging $245 and offering no benefit above the IRS page, and they are being a shady business by looking like the IRS. On 4 Apr I left a voicmeail, e-mailed, and entered the contact request on their website, and in all three I told them to cancel my order for a full refund. I'm willing to remove my complaint if they provide a refund.

I appreciate the businesses willingness to quickly refund my order.
I think the business is acting legally and making their disclosures obvious as they stated. That said, I think they would be a "better" business if they didn't charge for a service that is free on the IRS website, and if they would change their branding and name to make it crystal clear that they at not the IRS. They know that their branding and name is confusing at a minimum, and that their business model is at least partially based on capitalizing on that consumer confusion.
NOTE: If you file a small claims suit in Pasadena, they immediately initiate a refund!!!!!
Total scam. Marcus in the customer support refused to even provide an address for me to sue in Small Claims Court. I believe they are outside of the IRS requirement for a signed SS-4 that I have read and understood the SS-4.
The EIN number doesn't even work. Marcus said it's because the IRS is not supporting certain activities right now (and I should call them), but there was no warning that the EIN wouldn't be valid or usable immediately (due to COVID-19 or otherwise).
I wonder how these people sleep at night. Filing a small claims suit right now.

This company advertises themselves as a service to obtain EIN numbers through the IRS but overcharges for the service and offers no added benefits.
This company presents themselves as the official IRS website to obtain EINs and preys on customers who fail to recognize the website is not what it appears to be. I purchased their service (costing *** on March 12 expecting service for the EIN. I asked them to send the official IRS letter for my EIN which is required for loans and they directed me to contact the IRS directly. What is the point of paying you *** to obtain something the IRS can offer for free? When I asked for a refund they directed me to their terms of service. This website is clearly a scam designed to trick unsuspecting customers into paying for a service that the IRS offers for free. It is an unethical business that should be ashamed of themselves for their business practices.

Like the others below me, I was scammed by the service. Govt Assist LLC is set up in a way to mimic the IRS with its confusing URL www.irs-ein-tax-id.com/# . I thought I was ordering an EIN directly from the IRS. My attorney told me the following day that this service was free. I called the Govt Assist office and was told that I could not get a refund because my EIN was already issued. What a joke of a company. Set up to mislead people who believe they are going to the IRS.

I want to be refunded the amount of *** for a service that I did not want from a 3rd party but from the actual Government.
I was trying to get my EIN number which is issued by the IRS and attempted to go through an actual Government website. The website on the top of the search results was the one I landed on with no name. Only EIN service. The service guides you and does not mention upfront they are not in anyway connected to the Government. They give you a list of fees at different amounts. I chose the $247 service. It takes your personal information and credit card info and charges you. I don't want them to take my money. Again, this is a website designed to lure people and take your money. I want mines back because they are not who they say or assume to be, which they want people to think they are official and the Government.
They are incredibly nebulous on their practices and who they are. I understand Revdex.com has no connection to them and does not know who they are, but I hope this can be corrected as I was duped.

To acquire an EIN is free. When searching on Google for IRS EIN, the top search result is ***. By using a web form this company takes the same information the IRS has and either manually or vis an API provides the IRS with this information. The site is scam and so is the business model.

We cannot locate any order with the name, email and address provided, nor do any of our services cost $250, we believe this complaint has been filed against the wrong company.

While they may have a legally compliant disclaimer at the bottom of each page, they are still clearly benefiting from this misdirection and taking advantage of any consumer that is either distracted or less informed.

Site uses a deceptive "IRS" logo and maintains broad generic language in its search listing, it does not express any service or fee within the listing
Like every other complaint previously...
Govt Assist LLC mimics the IRS and charges large fees for what is a free service from the IRS, in the case of our non-profit, an EIN number, which was processed (in a very unclear method, I might add) via PayPal for *** This EIN number is given by the IRS for free.
Attached is a screenshot of the actual search listing. It is #5 on the list, conveniently NOT stated as an ad, and falls below the actual IRS website, and above another link to the actual IRS website, effectively "sandwiched" between two actual IRS sites, using language that acts just like them.
The website is intentionally designed so you see the "relevant" information pertaining to your desire to obtain an EIN "hiding" additional information on the website, using the mechanism of "scrolling". The small print of the "service" is only after you scroll to the bottom of the "page". And of course, there at the bottom of the website is the logo for the Revdex.com. The placement of the logo is by design, and intended to lead consumers to trust those who "merit" the use of it. It is clearly posted in order to give confidence to consumers, intending to "blind" them from the small print. The fact that Revdex.com even allows its use on such a website is extremely disturbing.
Only after the transaction was complete was I able to see the summary and noticed the 3rd party. at that point I immediately contacted via email with a request for refund and called (the office was closed) to seek quick resolution.
We are a non-profit that provides our community a shared space with tools and equipment to build, repair, or enhance their homes and other environments in order to use resources responsibly. The funding for the space comes out of my personal pocket. There are no salaries and many volunteer hours. The money deceitfully taken from us in this transaction would have be used to pay the rent, utilities, and other necessities that allow us to function. Please REFUND immediately.
And on a larger note, STOP pretending. State your purpose, be clear about service and fees and have enough faith in your work to trust others to WANT to use your services.

Issue a refund immediately. Expunge all information provided by us during this "transaction" and any created thereafter. If a payment is declined it may show pending on your account but the transaction will never settle and will never be deducted from your account. The length a payment shows as pending varies by financial institution. I see the the purchase never settled and the funds should have been available the following day.

I recently got taken by them and I immediately after receiving an email from them asked them to cancel my order, they refused saying order went thru. This should not be allowed, I searched EIN IRS and they pop up making you believe they are from the IRS. I am still not satisfied, yes you have all that mumble jumble writing that clearly no one reads. When looking to obtain an EIN I typed in the search area "IRS EIN" I was immediately taken to your page which by no means appear to be a third party. In addition, I requested to apply for credit through PayPal which you offered. I was declined and the transaction still went through my personal Pay Pal account, it was then that I immediately emailed you requesting to cancel my order. It was not even 10 minutes later. You responded that you could not refund me because the EIN had already been issued. I feel I should receive a refund due to my requesting to cancel order almost immediately.

That's false advertisement so with that being said anyone could have contacted me and explained the situation to avoid misunderstanding. Let me say up front that I have been duped by Govt Assist LLC, just like all the other complaints listed here. The fact that I was in bereavement, having lost my father a few days earlier, probably affected my judgement and is perhaps an explanation and not an excuse. They talked me out of $235 to create an EIN for my father's estate, although they offered $85 incentive to complete my application. As noted by others, this EIN number is given by the IRS for free. They refused a request for cancellation that I requested a mere 32 minutes after the transaction was completed.
It is my own fault, and technically it is likely that what Govt Assist does is not strictly illegal. Undoubtedly they will respond to this with the same boilerplate answer as they have done with all the other similar complaints, essentially saying that the buyer should have read the fine print.
However, their "service" is deceptive at best and immoral at worst. To imply, by the layout of the website, that they are operating as the IRS and charge an exorbitant fee for an otherwise free service to the unwitting simply takes advantage of people. They probably pay a fair amount of money for SEO to achieve high placement in searches, and the "irs" in the website URL is enough to dupe innocent people into thinking that this is an official site. Don't be deceived: IT IS NOT OFFICIAL!

This issues has not been resolved. I like how they claim my name is "not listed anywhere." Take a look at the payment information, to claim you don't have my name just bolsters my view that your company is just out to scam consumers.
If Jane Doe calls and asks questions on Jim Smith's application, we do not release any information. Jim Smith can call, cancel or edit his application, the individual that placed the application needs to do contact us directly.
Payment information does not provide the payer access to the application that was filled out by a different person when that individual agreed to our terms and service and entered into an agreement with our company.
