Deceptive practice to trick consumers into paying $250+ for a free service.
This site irs-ein-tax-id.com is deceptive. Search engine optimization makes it a top result for filing of EINs. The look and feel of the site is a copy of the IRS site. They charge $250 for a delayed service that the IRS does for FREE without ANY delay. Again the IRS free service is immediate and these jokers have "speed" of service chargesnone of which are as fast as the IRS service. Clearly they are playing on people's confusion. The Revdex.com needs to rank them as an F for intentional consumer confusion and deception.

Desired Outcome

Change site to not mimic the IRS site. Clearly and conspicuously state at top of page that this is not an IRS site. Change name of web domain to not be one that mimics government sites. Add conspicuous disclaimer that EINs can be obtained for free directly from the IRS>

Govt Assist Response • Sep 05, 2019

Hello
We apologize for the confusion but you have written a complaint for the wrong company. We process EINs and state formations for LLCs and Corps and partner with other companies to provide credit card processing, financing, HR and payroll services, but none of our services are $250. I searched for the name, address and email and have no record of any interaction with this individual.
Thank you

This is patently false. Pretending not to own the site with the deceiving setup and information. Govt Assist LLC is the name of the company on the site. https://www.irs-ein-tax-id.com/learn/contact this is ridiculous that you'd claim that its not you. Same name, same address on Laurel Canyon. Are you saying this is or is not your site?

Govt Assist Response • Sep 10, 2019

Again, I apologize for the confusion, yes that is our site and yes that is our address. What I am saying is that you did not do business with our company. There are many similar companies that offer similar services. We are often confused with www.irs-ein-tax.com which is an entirely different company that charges a $250 service fee. If you look at your order confirmation and/or assigned EIN, you will see which company you dealt with. Our email and phone number are shown on the order confirmation and we have customer service reps answering the phone from 7 am to 7 pm PST.
In addition you can call your credit card company to dispute the charge, they will be able to provide you with the phone number for the company you did business with.
While you are not our customer, I am happy to help you in any way possible.
Thank you

I was looking to apply for an EIN number with the IRS. The Govt Assist web site looks official as the IRS site. After providing and submitting all information, including social security number, the site asks for a $185 payment. Then I realized that site was not the IRS because the IRS does not request a fee for the service. I did not check out and make a payment. But I am concerned that theft of my social security number is involved. What happened with my information? What guarantee is there that my social security number is not being used for fraud, identity theft, etc.?

Govt Assist LLC has been in business for over 5 years assisting customers with the complicated process of setting up businesses. From Federal EINs to state formations with the Secretary of State, we provide our customers with valuable tools and information. We have partnered with many companies and offer discounts to our customers; Rocket Lawyer to provide legal documents and help, ADP for HR and payroll services, Card Connect for credit card processing, Bank of American and Chase to set up business banking accounts. All information is secure, credit card and social security numbers are never stored.

As noted on our every page of our website, we are a Third Party Designee which provides a EIN/Tax-ID filing service online. We are in no ways affiliated with any government agency as also stated on our site on every page. As the EIN application process might seem easy to some, that is not the same experience for many other individuals. We take a 20+ step process and simplify it into one form. We are available 24/7 unlike the IRS site which is only open limited hours a day during the week. We also take the time to troubleshoot and contact the IRS on customers behalf as there are many errors that can occur while filing electronically.

Here is our Legal Disclaimer that is present on every page of our website:

Govt Assist, LLC acts as a "Third Party Designee" as described in the instructions to Form SS-4 to help clients obtain Federal Tax ID Numbers from the Internal Revenue Service (the "IRS") in a timely manner. Govt Assist, LLC only works on behalf of its clients and is in no way affiliated with any governmental or regulatory agency, including the IRS. Govt Assist, LLC offers a paid service in which its employees or agents will prepare and submit your Employer Identification Number Application ("EIN Application") to the IRS on your behalf. Alternatively, for no charge, you can visit the official IRS.gov website and complete your EIN Application on your own. Govt Assist, LLC does not review the information submitted on your EIN Application. We are not a law firm or a substitute for an attorney or law firm. We cannot provide any kind of advice, explanation, opinion or recommendation about legal issues, and our communications are not protected by the attorney-client privilege or as work product. For legal advice, please contact an attorney or law firm.

Customer emails are stored as we provide monthly newsletters with valuable information and announce new service offerings. One can unsubscribe to the emails or call our customer service department to have your email removed.

Clicked this by mistake thinking it was the IRS, which is not open on weekends (and neither are these people). At the end of the transaction, a message appeared on the screen that they were unable to complete the transaction. My PayPal was charged anyway. I have initiated a fraud complaint with PayPal and American Express. A few cleverly placed words and phrases on their website does not absolve them from responsibility and for being bald-faced scammers.

Very intentionally designed website to mislead people into thinking it is an IRS application page in order to collect personal information and charge a extremely high fee for an otherwise free government service. Despite their claims that they "state on every page" they are a third party service provider, the site is clearly and intentionally designed to be misleading.

Company falsely advertising a connection with the IRS. There link indicates that they are. IRS EIN applications are free and there should be no charge
Completed an application online for an Business EIN. Company is misleading with references to the IRS but they there is no connection. Company received payment for a service that is free and does not indicate upfront you are working with a third party service. You cannot speak with anyone you can only email their customer service. I never received the approved EIN and inquired. They did reach out to let me know it had been issued but I only received notice after I inquired. It is most disturbing they are charging a hefty fee for something that is absolutely free. They use the IRS & Gov Synonymously as if they are the Internal Revenue Service

Desired Outcome

Full refund.

Our records indicate that your online application received a Reference 101 error and we were unable to complete it, your fee was voided and you were not charged. You also received a detailed email to assist you in obtaining your EIN via Fax with all relevant phone and fax numbers.

Thank you

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
If they can clarify the meaning of a 10 day hold on a pending transaction, I may have gotten a refund. Does this mean a refund in the sense that the transaction won't be processed, but I have to wait 10 days to be sure is not processed?Interesting and complicated. Nothing I've not seen before in typical transactions.
I appreciate the Revdex.com and the company's assistance. I guess the answer is yes or no. Not sure which. I'll await further clarification.

Govt Assist Response • May 29, 2019

Hello and sorry for the confusion. When a pending charge is voided, that amount never leaves your bank account and is never deposited in the recipients account. The bank may show it pending, but bank policy dictates the length, not the recipient. Pending transactions typically drop off within 24-48 hours but you can contact your bank directly and they will let you know when it will be released. Thank you.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Thank you.

Denied refund of $185 after calling for refund
On May XX XXXX I got online to apply for a FEIN at 7:30ish pm. I finished the application a few minutes before 8 and paid the $185, believing that I was on the IRS website and that is what it cost. This was my first time getting one or being on a gov't website. At 8:01 they emailed me confirmation of my application. Then at 8:21, an email came with my FEIN. When I opened it that's when I realized that I had used a third party service that I didn't know I was using. I immediately called them more than a little upset. When I told the gentleman what had happened, I was told that it had been processed and there was nothing I could do. Either he hung up or the call was dropped. I called back more upset than before and talked with the same guy who proceeded to tell me that I was naive and on every page was a disclaimer saying this and that. It sounded like a well rehearsed speech. He didn't want to hear anything I was saying, just kept talking over me and saying the same response that they give to answer all the other complaints on the Revdex.com. Following a few swear words from me, and trying to get him to listen, he bid me good night and hung up. I got back online and started to look this company up and came across this and decided to complain. I've never had to do this before. They use an "IRS" icon on the tab page leading inexperienced people like myself to believe they are on a gov't site. I found this quite deceptive. But I did find this on their FAQ page, that I copied and pasted, "In the event your EIN number application has already been administered, please contact us directly and we will try to remedy the problem. If you feel that the service didn't meet your expectations, we will provide you with a full refund minus a $10 service fee, no questions asked." I'm sure that this can be resolved quickly. If not, thanks for the lesson in deception. I'll make sure to never do anything close to this to my customers. We are all trying to make money, not lose it like this. Thanks for everyone's time and understanding.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund and all my info removed from anything they have put it on. Also change their web page icon. Thanks for the understanding.

Customer Response • May 24, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Yes, profanity was used and I apologize for that. It's very frustrating when your passive aggressive rep is talking over me and telling me that I can't get a refund, when your website states, "no questions ask". It's very frustrating that I even half to defend my mistake of going to your site. I want that "IRS" icon removed from the page tab. If you were as reputable as you think, you would not deceive people and put something else up there. Gov't Assist LLC can keep blaming customers for not reading the entirety of their page. And yes, I didn't read it completely. I saw my mistake and tried to stop it. Being told that nothing could be done once it's processed, was a lie and is what got us to this point. "No questions ask" should mean "NO QUESTIONS ASK" and lay no blame. I'm sure there are many aspects of your business that are needed and people need the help, that's great, help them. I've never had to go through so much work for a refund. Thank you for the refund and the lesson.

Deceitful advertising, exorbitant fee for otherwise free government service. Hide behind deceitful disclaimer.
How can the Revdex.com back this business? They are clearly trying to sell themselves as a government agency and are charging a fee that has no relation to work performed. Every comment, the real ones anyway, is people complaining about the same thing. I used to look businesses up on Revdex.com website if I had never heard of them before, and would have with this one if they hadn't so closely mimicked their site to other government agencies. Even if I had, I would have seen an A+ rating and would have used them anyway. The A+ rating should definitely be reconsidered. I won't rely on Revdex.com for anything again. An A+ rating for a business that preys on people who are in a hurry or don't understand that they have options until it's too late is totally unacceptable.

Desired Outcome

Since I unknowingly agreed to a charge I didn't have to pay in the first place, I would like an explanation as to why it goes from a free service provided by the United States government to a $185 charge by their company. This is hugely inflated, especially since there is no human interaction involved, only a web application.

Scam, period. Capitalism at its worst and backing from Revdex.com to boot. Ridiculous, but legal. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I had to rely on this sort of method of making a living. Customer Response • May 06, 2019

I disagree with your copy/paste statement and feel that your services are not valuable at all. Your business is immoral and you prey on people who are in a rush and/or do not understand that they have options. Do you have something that you can copy/paste that describes why you charge what you do instead of maybe $20? In my case, it was $185, but I've seen others claim that you ripped them off for even more than that. Since you take social security numbers on your webform, can you maybe copy/paste something about the security of your software, website and related infrastructure? I have seen before that hardware containing such data can been stolen from facilities, can you copy/paste something that describes your facility as having similar security measures as the government agency that you mimic and pay Google so much to get your ad results in front of?

+1

Fraudulent sales practices. Trick people into thinking they're the IRS.
They have a predatory website that tricks you into thinking you're on the IRS.gov website. I paid $227 to get an EIN number which I thought was the IRS. They charged me for something that is free. They misrepresent who they are and don't allow any means to contact them.

Desired Outcome

I want my money fully refunded and the charge reversed. I already disputed the charges with my credit card. This company should be shut down

Govt Assist Response • May 01, 2019

Hello, please note you are contacting the wrong company. We do not charge $227.00 for any of our services, our contact email is on our site and our contact phone number is listed on your EIN email.

My credit card gave the following information in response to my dispute:

Company: IRS EIN Tax ID
I got a recording and did not leave message. Please follow-up and confirm outcome

I

Implies affiliation with the IRS
Settling the affairs of a parent, dealing with beneficiaries, legalities, etc. is emotionally draining and frustrating. In my urgency to get something off the list, I charged ahead on the "IRS" site, ignoring the print beyond what I was concentrating on, the application itself. Despite a nagging feeling in the back of my mind, I was in a hurry and continued to the end. It wasn't really until I received the TIN by email (the IRS would never do that), that I realized I'd been had. Much to my relief, it appears the purpose of the company isn't to steal identities, but just to take advantage of people who are less intelligent, careless, or -- in a compromised state of mind.
The site's web pages are complete with an explanation that the company is not actually the IRS -- despite attempts to make anyone not looking closely think they were dealing with the IRS. I would like to be refunded the $185 fee.

Desired Outcome

Refund of $185.

Govt Assist Response • May 01, 2019

Hello

As noted on every page of our website we are a 3rd party designee. We also state that one can apply for a free EIN on the IRS website.
All customers must agree to our Terms of Service prior to providing any payment information:

By checking this box, (i) I represent and warrant that all of the information provided above is accurate and complete; (ii) I agree that I have carefully read and agree to be bound by the Terms of Use (see below) and (iii) I have read and understand that I am hereby authorizing EIN Tax ID Filing Service as a "Third Party Designee" as described in the instructions to Form SS-4 to apply to the IRS for the Employer Identification Number of the person or entity listed above, answer any questions on my behalf or the behalf of the entity listed above about the completion of Form SS-4, and to receive and deliver to me the Employer Identification Number for me or the entity listed above.

In addition to providing EINs we provide valuable next steps for business formations, discounts with our partners at Rocket Lawyer for legal documents and advice, ADP for HR and Payroll services, credit card processing and financing and loans.

We strive to provide all of the information necessary in one place and provide additional value.

That said we are not in the business to defraud or confuse our customers. While you agree that we state on our site that we are not the IRS and it was a moment of confusion for you, understandably, we are happy to provide a full refund.

Thank you

My husband was scammed. He thought he was on an IRS site. They will not respond and they did not send EIN# he paid for. ($149.00)
March 14, 2019 *** went online to site he thought was IRS to obtain an EIN# for deceased mothers estate. He paid 149.00 not knowing at the time this should not cost. The following is their website address ***. They did not confirm payment nor send the EIN# by email within hours as promised. They now will not respond. I have sent email and called using number my credit card company gave us (***). This is a scam. We still have not received any response from them or promised EIN#.

Desired Outcome

I would like our money back. I am concerned this company has Wyatt's SS# and his mothers SS# address and credit card information. We have blocked any further charges from them and would like our money back.

Govt Assist Response • Aug 26, 2019

Hello, I apologize for the delay but please note we are a filing service that provides federal EINs and files articles with the secretary of state for business formations. None of our services are $149 nor can I find any order or email with the name, email or address provided. While you do list our correct URL, that is not our phone number. The phone number provided to you by your financial institution is the correct company to contact for that transaction.
Thank you

This is a scam charging for EIN#'s. It is free on IRS site. I cannot believe the IRS allows this. Did not receive anything from them and they charged 149.00 for a free service pretending to be IRS. My husband got scammed. Need to be able to give "0" stars!!! It amazes me how people have become so creative in scamming hard working folks. Go get a real job!!!!!
(I did file a complaint with Revdex.com)

The website for service provided appears to be part of the IRS, which they are not.
I am the executor of my fathers estate. I went on line to obtain a new employee identification number (ein) searching on google for the irs info. I also did this several years ago for my brother. I entered the data - name, social security numbers, etc. I get to the next page where there is a $185.00 fee. Unfortunately I am in a hurry and entered my credit card info. There was NO FEE when I did this years ago but thought the government is always looking for more income. I received a text message stating there is an EIN assigned and will receive a letter from the IRS in approximately 4 weeks. That letter also contains a small paragraph at the very end stating "We are not the IRS or any other governmental or regulatory body or agency. We are a private company that assists....."
They sure are a private company that assists you in paying $185.00 for forwarding your application to the IRS. Plus they now have social security numbers of the executor, the deceased and the estate, the phone number and addresses, and the credit card information.

I feel this company SCAMS the public, and most often the elderly into thinking they are the IRS. Unfortunately they do have the legal disclaimer at the end stating they are not.

I am a FOOL for allowing this to happen to me. I should have looked at the entire website address so I could see it ended in .com instead of .gov.

Desired Outcome

I want all my information destroyed. I also think their ad should state they are not the IRS up front before clients enter all their private data.

This is not a legitimate business. How can Revdex.com give an A+ rating for a business that tries to charge people, and fakes the website to mislead as "IRS"????
Go to IRS.gov ONLY for IRS business. People get in a hurry, click on GOOGLE websites at the top of the search list and whalaah, scammed. Fortunately, when I went there, I got an error...said I should click on this email, etc. That was a clue...hate that I typed in any information.

I was hung up on twice by Marcus. He only stated repeatedly that he would not discuss my payment unless I went through paypal. Marcus hung up on me at this point. He is very rude, talks over the customer. At this point Marcus hung up refusing to give me any other agent or supervisor.

Very scammy.

I called back after being hung up on, only to have Marcus pick up the phone.

Uses URL and web site very similar to the *** site with sole intention to defraud consumers, TAX-IDs are free from IRS, this co. charges $185
Company uses URL and web site that look very similar to the IRS.gov and charge consumers $185.00 to apply for a tax-id at the IRS. The IRS offers free tax-ids who apply through the IRS web site. This is FRAUD and is attempting to take advantage of people who are trustee's for a loved ones trust upon the death of the trust owner. Taking advantage of distraught people. Trusts need a tax-id, but should never be charged for one. This is a very deceptive company.

Desired Outcome

FULL REFUND OF $185.00

The same thing Happened to me! I was misled by this company (irs-ein-tax-id.com) everything is design to give users the impression they are dealing with the IRS directly when in reality they are just middle men charging for a service that is free in the first place if I knew that I would not have use this company. And was charged $245.00 and some reason, the EIN and some info. wasn't corresponding...I contacted the bank and wasn't able to recover my money...However, I got my own EIN from the IRS, which I am using!

More like scammers and cheaters website!!! Even the IRS said they are ripping off people!!!
They are praying on innocent tax payers looking to get a EIN-number...
WHICH IS FREE ON THE IRS WEBSITE!!!
Go Find some better way to make Money!!!

This is a TERRIBLE service! Don't use it! They couldn't even get my name correctand then tried to tell me that they just processed what was in my application.

I'm pretty sure I know that my name is MeredithNOT Martinez!

For a company dealing with regulations and the IRS, and they can't get your name input correctly, that's about as bad and sloppy as it gets.

STAY AWAY! And you get an EIN via the IRS online website at no chargerather than paying $185 for junk service.

Govt Assist Response • Aug 17, 2018

Please call our offices and provide a copy of the documentation in question. The application for the EIN was processed exactly as the application was entered November 1, 2017. We do not edit or modify customer applications but will confirm with customers if something looks incorrect, i.e. "The Best Coffee shopq". If we can confirm that the application was processed incorrectly then we provide a full refund as we have satisfaction guarantee.

Spoofing IRS website to try to trick people and charge money for a free IRS request.
This company is spoofing the IRS website with similar domain / website URL's to try to trick unsuspecting people into paying for a free IRS request. They are using on line advertising and search engine advertising to trick hundred's of people. They may also be stealing tax ID & credit card info. I am also filing a complaint with / notifying the FBI. Please shut them down and also notify search engines to not also spoofing of IRS websites. The IRS also needs to be notified of this criminal practice. I have immediately notified the credit card company to cancel this card and promptly cancelled the card as well. I am also in the process of cancelling the invalid EIN number. When I called the IRS the EIN had also been set up incorrectly without my name as the Trustee and using a different address. I think it highly likely this is a complete identity theft based business likely selling the tax ID's and credit cards on the dark web. They advertise as being approved by the Revdex.com but the link on the website does not work as they are not accredited as they falsely advertise on their website (too bad I found out after the fact)

I have yet to confirm that they will refund the charge. Upon speaking to them they wanted to try and change the information and did not want to allow me to cancel anything, hence am filing out this claim.

Desired Outcome

Total refund -

I accept and the company did refund me. I remain concerned about the validity of this purported business and do feel that the company needs to be investigated.
