My problem with Grand Canyon is that they continue to bill for classes never taken, When I signed to take Business accounting classes, I explained to the Counselor and also the Financial counselor that I wanted to process my financial application first and then start the classes Since, I did not wanted to be stuck with a bill, The counselor guaranteed me that will not be the caseHe proceeded to signed me up for two classes, once my financial aid came back, he told me that they only approved around 2,dollars and he added that, I would not be able to continue with the program, so he stated that my class was covered but he deleted the rest of the upcoming classes, when the semester was over, they proceeded to bill me up for 2,for a class that I did not signed up for, nor takenMy counselor stated that he would fix the problem but the problem was never handled I expressly stated in my application that I was unemployed I could not afford to pay for classes and that I was rely

The BS of Computer Programming program is incompleteI have been in three programming classes so far and two of them had issues with the curriculumThe first had readings assigned to the wrong weeks (therefore you wouldn't learn how to do an assignment until the week after it was due)The second had missing assignment descriptions (cannot complete an assignment without directions) and a professor who continually changed the curriculum within the classWith the second class, the entire student roster reported the class and the professorAt least two of us reached out to the dean and none of our concerns have been addressed
We are paying for a complete education and are, in actuality, beta-testing a new programWe are being required to pay for an education where the school is not meeting their obligation of a complete and workable curriculum

Neither me nor anyone else in my family took classes at Grand Canyon UniversityI learned about Grand Canyon University from pulling a Credit ReportThey sent a fraudulent billing to me to a collection agency who reported the fraudulent debt to the credit agencies

Grand Canyon is attempting to collect on a debt that was discharged in my discharged chapter bankruptcyWhen I reached out to Grand Canyon University they provided me with a written contract dating back from 08/Per the Statutes of Limitation is Arizona where the school is located that time has passedSo Grand Canyon University is harassing me attempting to collect a debt that was not only discharged but also pass its statutes of limitation

I recently pulled a copy of my credit report from Experian and noticed that there was a collection from Grand Canyon University with a payment status listed as "Closed" but is showing seriously past dueI was never notified of this collectionNot notifying me is a violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA).In addition, under the FDCPA, I have the right to request validation of the debt you say I owe you I am requesting proof that I am indeed the party you are asking to pay this debt, and there is some contractual obligation, which is binding on me to pay this debt In addition, until you provide me with proper validation of this debt, you are not allowed to pursue any collection activities, including reporting this information on my credit report
In addition I have made contact with Grand Canyon staff in the past for a similar issue in which they tried to send me to collections but after my dispute with Ben M*** my issue was resolvedI do not owe Grand Canyon

I have been going to this school since 2014, and admittedly, my last semester was a disaster due to technical problems, but I am determined to finish my degree The school sent me an email offering me a $1,back on track scholarship as an insensitive for me to re enroll by the end of the month, then told me that I can not have itYou can not offer someone a scholarship as incentive to return to school, then refuse to let them have itPretty sure that would be a bait and switch fraudOnly added the star because the system made me

This school is terrible! They talk about being a Christian university but are actually notIt's all a front for people to spend their money there! It's or more per class and God forbid you have an emergency and cannot continue they will stick you with a bill! I had to drop my class because of an emergency and they don't care because they decided to still charge me for the class, but expect me to come back? How about this, take that bill and shove it where the sun don't shine!!

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms*** *** complaint and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions Regional Director of Operations *** *** and, based on that review; GCU has
determined that Ms* *** complaint was previously resolved. It appears there may be some confusion on Ms*** behalf As stated in her above referenced complaint, GCU did resolve a Revdex.com complaint which Ms* *** filed in regarding a scholarship that she stated she did not receive On May 1, GCU processed a write-off on Ms*** account in the amount of $for a new start scholarship; thus resolving her complaint As for the $balance referenced in Ms* ***’ recent Revdex.com complaint, in July GCU’s Office of Financial Aid conducted a review of Ms*** account and discovered that she was over awarded financial aidThis occurred as a result of an employee discount which Ms* *** was eligible for but was not processed on her account until after her financial aid had posted to her account As Ms*** received both financial aid and an employer discount, the amount of financial aid she received was over the amount she was eligible for As a result, GCU was required to either return the overage of her financial aid or return the employer discount which had been applied to her account GCU returned the financial aid overage Thus, this created a $balance on Ms* ***’ account which she is responsible for.GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner I hope the aforementioned information will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion Sincerely,*** ***Regional Director of Operations College of Nursing and Health Care ProfessionsGrand Canyon University

Dear Revdex.com,
Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of *** ***’s rebuttal complaint and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by the *** ***, Regional Director of Operations and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms***’s last complaint will require further actionThis determination is based on the following information:
As stated in it’s previous response and per GCU attendance/drop policy, Ms*** withdrew past the refund deadline Again, GCU records reflect that Ms*** worked with GCU representatives, enrolled in school and participated in her coursesworkParticpation in coursework consists of substantive postings in class and responding to an instructor’s discussion questions and in-classroom participation
However, as the University always tries to serve the best interest of its students it is willing to offer Ms*** a settlement and reduce her $4,outstanding account balance by 50% if she pays half in full on or before September 30, Once this is paid, Ms***’s account will be adjusted to reflect a zero balance Ms*** should contact GCU’s Collections Department at ***to accept the above offer and to resolve her account balance GCU welcomes the opportunity to speak with and work with Ms*** on resolving her outstanding balance
GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion
Sincerely,

This is the worst, most unprofessional, most fraudulent organization I have ever encounteredThey randomly dropped me from classes after I had paid- and this was after years of various delays from incompetent professors and staff- I had to pay for a class- and could do NOTHING- for an entire course because my professor didn't know how to work her email! I was delayed further after another professor "forgot" to look at a paper I turned in for FOUR WEEKS! They are doing everything they possibly can to scam students for as much money as possible, leaving students with exorbitant debt and no degree to show for it
I have three years' worth of documentation of unethical delays designed to force students to stay in a program longer than necessary so they can just scam as much money as possible out of students

When first told about Grand Canyon University by the rep they were there to help you and told you all the goods that were to come out of attending their school very hesitant at first then found out my employer pays a portion of schooling every year I thought awesome why not long story short after eveything and all calculations were sumed up I wasnt going to have to pay anything out of pockert for the first four months until next academic year great. When asked if I wanted to apply for students loans just in case something arrises I said sure(knowing I was going to need a new laptop and currently getting layed off, long story short been given the run around been told that they are waiting for my employer to pay them and then fund money would be push my way,so wheres the$ I was at balance prior to loans so I should have received some type of stipend as they called I am getting a stipend check of makes no sense, when asked about they never give me an answer just beat around the bus

Dear Revdex.com,
Grand Canyon University is in receipt of Ms*** ***’s rebuttal complaint dated September 17, and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by *** ***, the Executive Vice President of Operations for the Traditional Campus and, based on that review; GCU has determined that Ms***’s complaint was appropriately resolvedThis determination is based on the following information
It is Ms***’s contention that she incurred financial and academic hardship due to alleged inaccurate information provided by her advisor, *** *** University records indicate that Mr*** made the following contact with the Ms***:
7/10/14: Spoke With: v2v [voice to voice] - informed student that her completed classes were reviewed as they apply to Forensics and she is now at credits, dropping her to GLloan eligibilityShe is considering changing her major (possibly to nursing)She'll think about it and let me know what she wants to do
7/11/14: Spoke With: v2v - advised that if she switched to nursing, she'd only be at applied creditsShe was thinking about doing RN-BSN - advised she needs her RN for that and that is online onlyShe'll think about what she wants to do and we'll talk in about a week and half when I return to the office
8/18/14: Spoke With: v2v - she will do her fall semester here online, but needs to move back to *** in a month or two due to financesShe wants list of classes taken, what she's enrolled in, and what she has left for program to review at CC back homeWill send unofficial transcript and class scheduleCan send officials after summer is paid off - she can probably get balance to under $by end of month and will continue to work on paying it off through September (has stipend coming from fall to help)Emailed student w/ unofficial transcript and schedule. [Unofficial transcript and course schedule sent on 8/18/by *** ***]
8/23/14: No Call Needed: Email received - she has decided to not attend this fallWants to make sure all financial aid gets cancelled
Emailed student - ok, SSM will need to talk to her, so expect a call from him today
8/23/SSM [Student Services Manager] Email: Left Message: Called student left voicemail asking student to please call me back, she emailed SSA saying she can’t afford to come to GCU even though student was taking all online classes in the Fall and was receiving a stipend student doesn't have money to live off and still owes for Summer $
8/23/SSA [Student Services Advisor] EM: Left Message: Called student left voicemail asking student to please call me back, she emailed SSA saying she can’t afford to come to GCU even though student was taking all online classes in the Fall and was receiving a stipend student doesn't have money to live off and still owes for Summer $
8/25/SSM EM: Spoke With: Spoke with student, no SIRF on file can’t talk to parentStudent was upset because her major “Forensic Science” had changedI let her know that the program never changed, because she changed her major from English Literature to Forensic Science not all of her classes transferred overWith the English literature class student had completed credits, when she changed majors to Forensic Science only credits transferred overI explained to her that is because the Forensic Science program is very specific and there isn’t room for electivesStudent said she understood that but that her SSA had told her the program had changed and she believed that all her classes were wastedI apologized for the confusion but that was not case, she just didn’t have as many credits completedShe asked why then did her SSA call her in July, I let her know that *** called her on 7/11/to explain to her that since only credits transferred over then she only qualifies for freshman loans not sophomore loans ($less)Student was still upset that she remembered *** telling her that the major had changed.
In addition to the above communication which took place between Ms*** and GCU, by signing her Enrollment Agreement(s), Ms*** acknowledged and agreed to the terms, conditions, and policies outlined in the University’s enrollment application and the University’s Policy Handbook Enclosed please find copies of Ms***’s signed Enrollment Agreements, dated April 18, 2013; September 4, 2013; February 12, and July 21, as well as copy of the Registration Agreement, signed by Ms*** on April 18, 2013.
Additionally, the Grand Canyon University Student Handbook clearly states that the University reserves the right to make changes of any nature to the calendar, admission requirements, degree requirements, fees, regulations, course offerings, programs or academic schedules whenever they are deemed necessary or desirable, including changes or modification of course content, class scheduling, offering patterns, canceling of scheduled classes or other academic activities Ms*** acknowledged and agreed to this policy when she signed her Enrollment Agreement(s)
As for Ms***’s contention that I informed her mother that GCU could help her get any degree if she didn’t care what it was, I was simply asking if Ms***’s goal was to graduate as quickly as possible or if she was more interested in a particular field Ms***’s mother kept referring to “lost credits” as the reason for Ms*** changing her program of study Unfortunately, her mother seemed to become offended when I asked her what her daughter really wanted to do Again, GCU was merely trying to determine what Ms***’s goal was and apologizes for any misunderstanding this may have created
GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.
Sincerely,
*** J***

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms*** *** complaint and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by the Regional Director of Operations Danielle R*** and, based on that review, GCU has determ***d that Ms*** complaint was
appropriately resolvedThis determination is based on the following information:Per GCU records, on January 30, Ms*** completed an Enrollment Agreement indicating her desire to enroll in GCU’s Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration program Accordingly she was enrolled in UNVwhich began January 30, Ms*** was accepted into the program with specifications pending receipt of her transcripts Per GCU policy, students who do not meet the standards for admission may be admitted to Grand Canyon University with specification Students are then granted weeks from their program start date to provide their official transcripts to gain continued admittance into the University In Ms*** case she would have had until March 26, 2016; a week after her UNVcourse ended, to provide her transcripts. On February 8, Ms*** spoke with her Academic Advisor, Christ*** Q***, and shared her confusion on whether or not she should continue posting into her course without having her official transcripts received and evaluated by GCU MsQ*** advised her to continue posting into her course and informed her that she had until the end of the course to provide her transcript Also, since Ms*** had not posted into her course for several days, she was advised to contact her instructor to discuss her lack of attendance and possible options on getting caught up with any work she may have been behind on or missed However, GCU records indicate that Ms*** did neither As well, it should be noted that at this point Ms*** was in Week of her course so she was not eligible to receive any refund even if she had requested to withdraw from her course Additionally, GCU can find no records which indicate that Ms*** ever requested to withdraw from GCU Therefore, on February 27, Ms*** was automatically dropped due to non-attendance and per GCU’s tuition refund policy, was charged accordingly for her class.By signing her Enrollment Agreement, Ms*** acknowledged her understanding of the University’s below referenced refund policy which was also provided on her agreement.Nontraditional StudentsStudents who drop/withdraw from a course/all courses are eligible for the following refund:Before Week 1…………...…………100% tuition refundDuring Week 1……………………… 75% tuition refundDuring or after Week 2..………………………No refundAdditionally, Ms*** acknowledged having received Grand Canyon University’s Policy Handbook available to her at the website www.gcu.edu/Admissions/Admission.php and that she could receive the most up-to-date information at this site including refund policies In addition to the above information, Ms*** assigned Student Services Counselor, Enrollment Counselor and Instructor all attempted to contact Ms*** continuously via telephone and email between February 14, and May 1, regarding her lack of participation and also to discuss her account balance However, they were all unsuccessful in reaching Ms*** or getting her to return their voicemailsAdditionally on May 1, GCU sent Ms*** email communication letting her know that GCU’s attempts to resolve her outstanding balance had not been successful and we would appreciate an opportunity to speak with her to prevent her account from being moved to collections Ms*** failed to contact GCU to resolve her delinquent account balance, therefore, on May 14, Ms*** delinquent account was placed with GCU’s Internal Collections Department Internal Collections attempted to contact Ms*** on May 24, and left a voicemail for her On June 26, Internal Collections attempted to reach out to Ms*** again to discuss her delinquent account balance Ms*** answered the phone and was asked if she had a moment to which she said yes However, when she was asked to provide her address and email address so GCU could verify her identify and move forward with the call, Ms*** hung up and disconnected the call Ms*** did not return the call nor did she make any further attempts to contact GCU to resolve her account balance On July 10, Ms*** delinquent account was placed with outside collections agency Bass & Associates On April 29, her account was returned to GCU due to all efforts to collect on her account being exhausted Ms*** account was then placed with external collections agency ACT on September 12, but was once again was returned to GCU on September 20, for unsuccessful collection efforts Ms*** can contact GCU’s Internal Collections Department at ###-###-#### in order to discuss and resolve her account balance. GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion Sincerely,Danielle R***Regional Director of OperationsCollege of Nursing and Health Care ProfessionsGrand Canyon University

My computer crashed I let the school knowAbout my assignments being turned in lateBut I did get it back up and sent them in to the teacher and the school is saying I didn'tAnd they offered me a loan to pay for the classNo they offered me a loan to pay for the remainder of my schooling what financial aide did t cover and I said noI told them tthe teacher wouldn't contact me backThey said the teacher would before a certain time frame and the teacher didn'tI contacted the school about it several timesThey are saying now that they told me to file a grievance against the teacher and they never told me thatA lot of what theyh have documented is a lie

I was attending the Grand Canyon University online and was taking classes from December to January For the most part, I had no issues However in December and January 2016, the Grand Canyon University sent my financial aid back and cancelled my classes because I was not able to attend a class while my daughter was in the hospital
I called in and had this approved by student advisor Bridget N*** I went back to take the class the next month and discovered I was locked out of my account and they had sent the financial aid money back Grand Canyon University then billed us $3,and turned us over to a collection agency The collection agency then told Grand Canyon University not to talk to us in order to prevent us from resolving this issue

This school has been a nightmare expirenceI only went for two years to complete my masters in educationAnd every time I called for paper work to get my transcripts or a letter for my teaching license the school acted like they had no idea what I was talking aboutI get transferred several times and never to my actual advisors (yes just for one major)Then when I get someone they tell me it’s gonna cost just to change a word on my transcriptsThe department of education here in Arizona employee was not surprised to hear my struggles were with gcu she said it happens all the timeThis school is terrible and as an educator and an alumni I will never ever refer anyone to waste their time with Grand Canyon university

I rate this school a one because of the rudeness of the Student Advisor Counselors and the tuition rate compared to other schoolsI will never recommend this school to anyone everThey were a for profit school and now they are a non-profit schoolI am earning my masters through them and have experience some bad counselors within GCUI take out loans to further and better my education but to continue to being told that I would have to pay an additional $something dollars just for additional course work for a class when I am paying almost $per courseThat’s ridiculousThey just raised their tuition to $per credit hour which is $per course plus you have to pay a $canyon connect fee for each course which is also increased to $as of July So technically, I’m paying $per course I hate this school and only reason why I am just going to finish it out is because I only have courses left to graduateGCU is about moneyHorrible school!!! No wonder they continue to have class actions against them and being claimed as a Scam of a school!

I"ve been going to GCU since I have taken the technology class two times now and failed two times The first time, yes I could not keep up due to my son's mental health issues However, the second time around, the teacher did not give me much extra time to finish assignments I had a mystery of an illness and they wanted me to go through disability services The doctor said this is not considered a disability and I did tell them thatI was busy working and getting all these tests done because half of my face was paralyzed and also had to go to physical therapy Mind you, the classes are weeks long The teacher had a deaf ear She even took out of her bag re: how will I be able to do a job of a teacher if I can't keep up with the work in the classNo matter now loud I got, she just had deaf ears to the situation and just shrugged it off to how for example, we made another deadline for a few assignments (while I was sick mind you) They just don't care They don't care that I now have to take this class for the 3rd time and use up part of this year's financial aid I also failed another class because I couldn't take off of work and get the observation hours done and this had to be done in order to do the benchmark No other class has that requirement - they would just take 20% off your grade I've had a few teachers that work with my schedule The technology teacher humuliated me- treating me like a year old when I'm an adult learner and I can barely make my bills I"m not sure what I'm going to do now

It's interesting how profit oriented this school is now that they are non-profitApparently, even posting a simple introduction on a class roster board qualifies you to be charged 25% tuitionThis has nothing to do with the learning portion of the classIn addition, sales tax, books ($for an e-book) and a $"management fee" are charged as wellGod forbid something doesn't work out with the class in the first weekYou're looking at over $for NOT attending schoolThis is very deceptive as the policies clearly state 25% tuition charged for the first week (if you drop out) and do not state anything about the other fees charged

Via U.STitle IV Section of the HEA from 1965, I too have been a victim of shady (in the form of unwittingly being charged) an extra graduate credit class (current counselor) without either a., my explicitly being told that this was going to happen until being informed, ex post facto, or bthat my degree would be fast, cheap, flexible, affordable, as stated by previous advisors as an eventual "Psychologist."
I was further mislead about being "grandfathered" into an unchanging yet--as of late--now a "changing" curriculum set by a nebulous set of board members I have yet to know, meet, or even communicated with; three, I have been and once again, was initially and still am focused upon research and public initiatives as, God willing, a PhD in psychology one day, yet this cannot happen and is now (as I have discovered via the U.SDepartment of Education, IPEDS, aggregated report) the college, for that matter, does not "do" per data from the latest fiscal year of: June 2014-J
