I bought the Guardsman plan so I wouldn't have to worry about breakage with my furniture. When I had something break I was denied repairs based on a technicality. They were inflexible when I explained the reasons. They got my money and I got nothing. I would not recommend anyone do business with this company. They will use any detail to get out of doing what you've paid them to do.
My husband and I had purchased a sectional sofa a year ago. We noticed mid-August that the frame has fallen. We filled out the correct forms and guardsman stated we put the wrong date on it and it won't be covered. I stated I must have made a mistake they stated it didn't matter it wouldn't be covered. They do not want to help with getting it rectified because obviously they are PERFECT in everything they do----EXCEPT for wanting to fix their flaws. I can tell you that Kara was very rude in speaking to her and their managers only leave messages without talking directly to you!!
They have had multiple claim to the Revdex.com in [redacted] and I see why!!
They do not stand by their warranty nor do they care!
I tried to file a claim with this company twice but was unsuccessful because the damages on my furniture were not covered. Ii think they are very narrow minded when it comes to their protection plan. I will NEVER buy a protection plan with this company again.
I purchased several expensive pieces of leather power recliner soda + chair from [redacted] Furniture in [redacted].. My invoice sho9wed $299.00 for Gold Plan ins. service agreement g5rf 1005053. ; a five yr. policy. the date was 1/31/2012. The recliner middle section colapsed and a claim was filed to fix or exchange it. A service tech was sent and inspected same and his report was sent in to Guardsman. After several calls to them, on Feb. 2, 2017, I was finnally informed that the fault discovered was not covered by their policy. I did not ever receive any Policy when the purchase was made. I was just told that it covered everything for 5 years.. This company has earned the negative rating of 92%, but it should be 99.9% and should not be allowed to offer any kind of warranty policy and definitely should not be accredited by the Revdex.com.
Don't waste your time with this company. I have Guardsman protection on all my furniture (dining and Living room). My furniture was damaged and I was told if I did not report it within 5 days, there was nothing they could do. I paid $340.00 in insurance coverage for nothing. If you need coverage on your belongings, get home coverage which costs about $10 per month and covers everything in your home. This is just a money gimmick. I will take the matter to court. I don't have money to toss out the window.
I first called Guardsman when I got a food stain on my Sofa. They sent someone to clean but months later the stain returned to the surface. At this point it had been 14 day since service and a claim to come out and recline was denied. Then my 4 year threw up on Sofa. They sent someone to clean stain yesterday but it still smells. When I called Guardsman they said they do not cover smell. If you ask me they don't cover ANYTHING. they put a band aid on the problem instead of solving it! Don't waste your money.
We bought the 5 year gold plan. After the first few weeks one of the cushions started separating at the seam. We called the place we purchased it and received a replacement cushion no problem. The policy states it does cover seam separation. That was about 2 years ago. We recently submitted a claim for the same issue and have been denied. They are stating that it is all animal damage which is not true. Guardsman is denying that it is coming apart at the seams. The technician advised he could sew it but due to the type of material it would come apart again in a couple of months. Not to mention when I called to talk to them the customer service rep sounded like I was infringing on his time. Will never buy a Guardsman policy again. I would also strongly recommend to anyone I know NOT to get one. Waste of money.
Worst service ever! I called in a claim and explained what happened, that there was a worn area and I sat down and tore it. I was told because I did not explain in greater detail, my claim is denied as normal wear and tear. I then said, sorry, I did not provide enough detail, let me explain further and I was told, too late. You were not detailed enough, so claim is denied. I apologized and explained that detail to me meant to say what happened. A worn spot tore seemed enough to me and there is no opportunity to correct. They told me next time I should just understand the word detailed. The manager then went on to explain to me what detail means and belittle me. She then told me I was using semantics and I was actually just trying to give the requested detail.
Alba account manger was horrible. She had absolutely no customer service skills. Damage is damage a we paid for a damage warranty. Due to damage not occuring where and when. They would not honor claim.
Bought Guardsman warranty for my old recliner and tried to use the policy I bought with little success. Between the phone calls, the forms and pictures you need to submit, etc., they take forever and then tell you your not covered. I came onto the Revdex.com site to see how many others have complained and found plenty in the same boat as myself. I'm now purchasing a new recliner and again given this company to purchase their warranty which hasn't changed one bit. DON'T PURCHASE THIS POLICY FOR YOUR FURNITURE, THEY DON'T DELIVER, TOTAL SCAMS!
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
There are always people willing to flock online and complain about a company but not all the time do good experiences get reported, so I figured I would take the time to share my experience.
Guardsman has been wonderful. We purchased a new sofa and with it a protection plan from guardsman.
We had numerous claims and every single one was handled quickly and professionally. Even our final claim which sadly required an entire replacement sofa. I say sadly, because the replacement sofa will no longer be covered by Guardsman and we enjoyed having them!
Keep in mind that all insurance plans have exclusions and really, the exclusion list in their case is not awful. You just need to use your brain when you call and file a claim. Make sure the claim you file is covered before you call and disqualify yourself.
thank you Guardsman .. it has been a pleasure and I very rarely get to say that about a company.
Worst company I have ever delt with. Process took forever between filling out forms and mailing them back (mail was the ONLY option) Then waiting for a service tech appointment. Took about two months when finally a got a tech in. They took pictures & left..no explaination of what happens next. Finally a called them back and they said my claim was denied. I had a 5 year plan, sofa was 2 years old and it had a rip. They said "Na" it's only normal wear and your not covered. Apparently they will say anything to deny a legitimate claim. I was better off keeping my $199.00. Its a scam.
When you are shopping for furniture, whether its a sofa, bedroom set or simple breakfast table, please save yourself a trip to [redacted]. The sales representatives are whatever, pretty much looking for anyone ready to spend money instead of actually helping. They really hit you hard and push on the warranties. I ended up purchasing a warranty from [redacted] to protect the breakfast table I purchased. I am dealing with a nightmare for something that should be covered as it is listed clearly
I spilled nail polish remover and it resulted a big discolored. I immediately called Guardsman (the warranty company) and submitted a claim (which is a lengthy process itself). After reviewing the claim (almost 2 weeks later) they had a technician come out a week later (so now it's 3 weeks later). The technician came reviewed the table and said it's too much damage and better to replace the table instead of spending hours to repair it. He submitted his portion of the inspection. A week later I get an email notification that the repairs can not be covered and they will not be able to cover the damage of the nail polish remover. Clearly in their brochure it shows nail polish is covered, the sales representative pointed it out when pitching the warranty that this is covered. I am now utterly disgusted at the bad business practice both from [redacted] and Guardsman. Guardman is using excuses that I have too many scratches and dents so it can't be covered....but why not just go ahead and fix the nail polish accident area so I don't have a big discoloration!?!?!?
Visit their website for what they cover:

Please people, save your self the trip and your hard earn money from these scam artists. They don't care about anything other their commission. I will never step into [redacted] or recommend anyone else.
Biggest Rip Off in years! They are happy to take you money and will deny any claim you make! How this isn't criminal is beyond me. Do yourself a favor and do not do business with this company!
The process is dreadful. You have to call in tell them why you need services. I was waiting to speak to a rep for 20 minutes then the call disconnected, I waited for a call back never got one called back again and waiting for another 20 minutes. You then have to go online submit photo's then process the service request by printing and mailing in the form. The company needs to get with todays times where everything is done online. Who even mails in forms anymore its 2015!
I bought two cream colored couches and purchased the warranty for 5 years. I thought it was a great idea because at the time I had a 3 year old and a 6 year old. I almost feel like hiring a company to come out and clean up simple stains such as food and beverage or drool from a 5 years old. Anytime I call in its a hassle. Honestly I wouldn't have paid extra if I knew this would be the process.
I had a horrible experience with their customer service. I filed a claim when my furniture broke. They sent me an email to submit a claim. The instruction was unclear and I did not send in the paper claim (I mean why do I have to do both in this day and age?). When I did not hear from Guardsman for few weeks I called them to see if they got my claim. That's when the customer service person told me that I had to also send in a paper claim. What she forgot to tell me is that I only had about 6 days to submit it. I left the county the next day for vacation without sending anything because I was busy. When I got back they told me that the claim was denied becasue I did not submit all documents within 30days. There is nowhere in the email or in my certificate that says anything about 30days policy. I feel that they misguides you and also does not clearly explain anything so they do not have to fix the broken furniture. I am not a psychic, so how am I supoosed to know about 30days policy?
I've had Guardsman for several years and for several pieces of furniture (bedroom, living room and dining room sets). In that time, this year marked the first time that I'd ever attempted to submit a claim. I submitted 2 claims to Guardsman in September and in both instances I had to follow up to get answers for my claims. I was rejected in both instances. I've arrived at the conclusion that I would have been better off saving the money and simply paying for furniture repair when I needed it.
After submitting the first claim, I didn't receive a response (no email or call) and I had to contact them 2 months later to find out they denied my claim. I put a hole in my expensive, upholstered chair and they told me this isn't covered. How is putting a hole in a chair not covered?
In the second instance, for my cocktail table, I did receive follow up from a furniture repair service. However 1.5 weeks after a technician visited and created a report, I still hadn't heard anything from Guardsman. I contacted Guardsman to get the response to that claim. After waiting on hold and being inexplicably transferred about 5 times, I was finally told that that claim was also rejected.
As I drafted this review, my house guest inquired about the dining set I recently purchased. She asked if I had purchased it with a Guardsman plan. Sheepishly, I admitted that I did purchase with a plan (I hadn't yet received responses to my claims at the time of that purchase). She asked me if it was possible to return it. I admit, I hadn't considered this. I stepped away from this review to call the furniture store. Score! They told me that I can cancel the plan because I purchased it within the last 30 days. That is exactly what I did.
I've had decent luck with their off the shelf furniture polishes and cleaners. I may continue to use some of these products in the future, however I will never purchase another Guardsman Protection Plan again. I recommend that you save your money and purchase any furniture repair if/when you need it.
The warranty is not worth your money. First off they didn't even honor their warranty. It states clearly on my paper that it covers seam separation, well apparently not since they denied my claim. Secondly, you have a very limited time to cancel your protection plan. You have more time to cancel GAP insurance on a car than you do to cancel a protection plan on furniture! Don't buy this protection plan it truly isn't worth it.
We purchased the Guardsman's Protection Plan for $200 on a couch we purchased. After around two years we had to file a claim on the frame of part of our sectional. I was told that we had to submit the forms within 30 days of opening the claim with Guardsman. I assumed that we could fill out the forms and submit them online. I had to contact the store I purchased the couch from to get a copy of the sales receipt. We had several other dilemmas that caused a delay in being able to process the claim. But once I was finally able to fill out the forms online I found out I had to print and mail them to Guardsman. My paperwork did not reach the company until 34 days after I opened the claim; therefore, Guardsman will not process it. They will make no exceptions to their process. This was the first time we have had to use this service. So we have basically paid money for a protection plan that we cannot use. This is the worst process I have ever dealt with and we will never purchase this plan again from Guardsman.
poor customer service. Apparently there is a very limited time limit in which you can submit claim after you see the stain. In all my correspondence in submitting a claim they never mentioned to me the need to submit within a few days. Very misleading and unprofessional. Would never recommend this plan to anyone. Also never received written plan from retailer or plan ID number.
