Guardsman

The warranties offered by Guardsman are a complete SCAM! All claims appeared to be denied for one reason or another. My claim was denied because of the 30 day window - I reported the damage the day I noticed it. The form I submitted had a date of October something (not even sure the date) as occurred date. I do not recall populating with this date and quite honestly, it's irrelevant as it is a 5 year protection plan. I think the system does this intentionally so claims can be denied based upon this criteria. This is absolutely shameful. Cover the claims you are responsible for covering and know you should cover - tricking people with a 30 day clause may be legal, but it unethical and morally wrong. I am calling everyone one I know and taking all steps I can think of to shut down this disgusting process.

The customer service with this company is poor. The employees are derogatory and not able to address issues with their provided service. This company looks for every opportunity to weasel out of fulfilling any claims of accidental damage to furniture they cover. They have fulfilled 0 out of 3 requests I have made in the past year and now state that I need to pay a company to professionally clean my furniture in order to continue to receive their services that I paid for. This is not mentioned anywhere in my contract information.

I had a different experience with Guardsman and figured since there are so many negative reviews to at least tell of my positive experience.

My wife splattered nail polish on our leather couch and covered a good portion of the front and one cushion. Wasn't sure if the Guardsman warranty covered it and after reading all these horror stories I wasn't confident it would be an easy feat. But figured I'd give it a shot.

I contacted Guardsman over the phone and for whatever reason they could not open a claim over the phone and sent me the form to fill out. The customer service rep could have been more friendly but whatever. She just didn't seem interested in helping me. I submitted my paperwork and photos within the 10 days required (and yes they put a limit on this I'm sure to limit the claims they have to pay out). The 10 day period I don't agree with since as long as it is within the warranty period, who cares when the claim is submitted.

In any event, claim was submitted, I received an email a few days later saying they were sending a repairman to our house to look at the damage. He came a few days later, confirmed the damage and parts needed. We heard back from Guardsman about a week later that the repair was approved and parts had been ordered. We receved them about 2 weeks later and the repairman came out about a week after that and boom, looks like new.

All in all it took about 8 weeks from start to finish which is longer than I would have liked but based on the other experiences and reviews listed, I couldn't be happier. I was prepared for a disaster and a nightmarish experience but came out very pleased.

Do not buy a warranty from Valspar or Guardsman. They do not send credible servicemen out and they do not hold up to what their warranty states. Furthermore their servicemen don't know what they are doing and when they ruined my furniture they offered no resolution. I caution everyone from purchasing anything from this company. It's a waste of money.

This is a scam, they limit reporting an incident with in 5 days. Which not going to be any ones priority or a person is going to remember that. The process is kept intentionally slow and requires a online and mail in submission to add to the misery and delay.

They hope that either a customer wouldn't go through the hassle or would give up. If you are still persistent then they will deny the request amid some [redacted] clause they have smartly put in. Very bad service and wouldn't recommend it to any one.

I have used Guardsman for years and not only are their wood care products amazing but their service is too. They are able to get out just about any stain we have had, and I love knowing that they will replace it if they cant get it out. The benefits outweigh the cost ten to one in my book.

I purchased several pieces of furniture from [redacted] Furniture who said that the Guardsman Protection Plan would cover everything should the furniture get damaged. I submitted two claims after Thanksgiving when I had a couple issues and both claims were denied. I paid for this product with my hard earned money and the furniture should be fixed. They make it very difficult to send in your claim and wait a long period to hear your claim is denied. They are really taking advantage of people.

On 2/9 I submitted a service request because the faux marble ony my kitchen table started peeling. I was required to submit pictures and then mail the form. On 2/19/15 I received an email indicating my service request was received and will take at least 10 days to make a decision. Today 3/3/15 I received an email informing me the damage to my table was not covered. I was not given a copy of the coverage when I purchased the furniture from [redacted] Furniture only a number to call and was told any damage would be covered. If I had known damage to the table top was not covered, I would have not paid $150 to purchase Guardsman furniture protection, which does not cover peeling or other surface damages. I am disappointed that I have to figure out how to fix my kitchen table when I did not cause the damage. I will never buy furniture protection from Guardsman again!
