Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 6, 2015/10/19) */ When this project was first begun, another contractor PRIOR to [redacted] started the project When [redacted] arrived, the wiring had been run to the bathroom for the heated floor, the thermostat, floor system and tile had already been installed on the floor [redacted] did check to see if the heated floor was on it's own circuit, nothing else [redacted] did remove the tile floor and install a new floor mat and hook it up to the EXISTING thermostat and wiring that was installed by another contractor [redacted] did break a wire in the heat mat while installing the tile, we cut it with the mortar trowel [redacted] DID come back and fix the break in the floor system It was tested with [redacted] there, and she confirmed by email and in person that it worked A few weeks later [redacted] contacted us that it had stopped working [redacted] did return to troubleshoot the floor again [redacted] purchased a new thermostat At that time the instructions were read on the new thermostat as they were not available previously As stated in the instructions for the SunTouch floor system, a amp breaker is to be used with their unit Upon further investigation it was discovered that a amp breaker was used instead, double what the instructions said was the maximum allowed As the wiring was done by another contractor, [redacted] wrote down and had [redacted] sign that she needed to have a Master Electrician change out the breaker and inspect the wiring in the wall It was explain to [redacted] that this may be why the floor stopped working again As the bathroom work was started by another contractor, [redacted] did let [redacted] know that we would not warranty the work done in her bathroom Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 8, 2015/10/26) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Electric heated floor systems use coils in order to reach various points throughout the area of the floor which are located beneath the initial surface of the tileIt is true they can be repaired by using the approved Suntouch XXXXXXST heating wire repair kit or other repair kits approved by the original manufacturer Handyman Matters installed a new Suntouch heated floor and thermostat which do include installation instructions as any new system would A Suntouch XXXXXXST LoudMouth Meter should have been used to know if further breaks in the heating coil exist during the time of repairThis device emits and audible noise informing the installer of damages or breaks in the floor systemAt this point there is probable cause to believe that the original repair work has not been fixed properly or another break in the line exists during installation [redacted] did confirm in person that the floor worked at the time of repair before the piece of tile was laid back down [redacted] then left the house for work, before she left the house Chad insured her that he or [redacted] would call to confirm the heated floor was working after the tile was placed [redacted] received no phone call and e-mailed [redacted] letting him know that the heated floor once again did not work [redacted] said he would be in touch with Chad to figure out the issue with the heated floor reassuring [redacted] they would get to them bottom of the heated floor problemAt that time a amp breaker was connected to the electrical system proving it was not the breaker at faultTo conform to manufacturer standards a amp breaker was installed and the heated floor system is still not workingHandyman Matters stated "As the bathroom work was started by another contractor, Handyman Matters did let [redacted] know that we would not warranty the work done in her bathroom" [redacted] did not consent or imply any acknowledgement abiding by such statementNor did she sign any new contract claiming all warranties are void As per contract all work is warrantied for daysHandyman Matters did state on October 25, in writing "At this time we will no longer be returning to your home to do any more work"This is a direct violation of contract which indicates the contractor is not willing to fix damages, hire an independent contractor to correct the errors, or refund the client for all labor and used material costs Handyman Matters corporate owner physically inspected the work done by Handyman Matters South on September 29, and deemed the craftsmanship of the work including the shower and heated floor unsatisfactoryThe amount offered totaled $for an out of court settlement which the client found much below actual repair costs for all work needing to be redone or torn out completelyAt this time the client expects the work to be completed properly or a full refund givenThe previous contractor cannot be held accountable for work done by Handyman Matters If Handyman Matters South would like to further dispute this issue the client will use small claims court to collect the refund Final Consumer Response / [redacted] (4200, 12, 2015/11/02) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) We stand by our work with a 100% guarantee" are the exact words on Handyman Matters South website used as an advertisement for business Again, "You can rest assured that all of our work is done by our master craftsmen, backed by our percent satisfaction guarantee"If the advertisement is correct then this dispute would have been concluded before the Revdex.com was notified [redacted] is not satisfied and the heated floor does not operate as designedThere does seem to be a disconnect between the original contract which in this case is the yellow paper given to [redacted] after each day of work If there is another contract please attach the document for viewing When dealing with any type of work that involves a change order or warranty policies being altered must be signed by [redacted] in order for a valid written contract to be put into place Without her written consent is likely she did not agree to the new policyIf [redacted] signed a written contract presented to her before the job started which nullified the warranty for work performed would be curious as to why $was offered for damages When the franchise office viewed the bathroom and offered a settlement would indicate that the craftsmanship is below the expected outcomeAt that point Handyman Matters is confirming and admitting upon discovery that the work performed has damaged the integrity or taken away from the value of bathroom [redacted] did not sign any document agreeing to the settlement which was retracted by Handyman Matters corporate As we said before $is not reasonable as labor and materials exceed more than $ Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 14, 2015/11/06) */ [redacted] was in charge of this entire project Handyman Matters made several recommendations for the "CORRECT" way to do the project from the start, and in writing [redacted] refused to do the recommended work, and instead chose to direct the project in the way she thought was right Handyman Matters stands behind their work if they start and do 100% of the project Handyman Matters did NOT do 100% of the project Handyman Maters does not believe any of their work was in error It is also stated in writing in the very first document [redacted] was sent that Handyman Matters would not warranty this work No warranty was put in writing before the project even started, and again, [redacted] acknowledged by email and phone call to start the work The original contract was NOT the yellow copy of the invoices, but the proposal document sent to [redacted] prior to the start of the project In that document it states that we would tear out the shower pan and start with a brand new pan [redacted] choose to ignore this suggestion and instead had someone remove the tile from the original pan and asked us to reuse it Again, reuse of old materials voids any warranty or guarantee [redacted] chose not to follow the suggestions of Handyman Matters and directed the project how she saw fit This voids any warranty or guarantee

In a nutshell I’ve had one good experience, and one terrible experience with Handyman MattersEach time I’ve had work done I’ve not been on site, as this is an investment property The first go-around scheduling was easy, and the handyman called (per my request) while on site to ensure the score of work was clearIn an hour or so he knocked out the requested items, and the work was done efficiently and on budgetHe did a very good job communicating when he arrived, and following up when complete The second experience was a disaster howeverAs before, I requested the handyman call and confirm the items to be addressed in order of priority, and the amount of time ($) I’d allowPer my scheduling conversation with the office I’d allow only the hour minimum ($135), for a sprinkling system turn on, gate latch replacement and cutting off some tree branches that were damaged from the late spring snowIt was clearly communicated the sprinkling system turn on was the highest priority, and the rest was time filler to ensure I received my full hour of workIn the call I communicated only hour of work was authorizedThe day of the appointment I never received a callI assumed the handyman no showed as there was clear instruction that he was to call me when he arrivedThe next day I reached out to my tenant, and she said he did come outPer our conversation he started with the sprinkling systemHe made a comment that the plumbing was old, and he couldn’t turn it onThe then spent hours replacing a gate latch, and trimming branches The primary focus was to have the sprinkling system turned onThe handyman was unable to do this, so I had to go over to the propertyI work in an office, and am not a full time handyman by any means With that said, the sprinkling system was a simple turn on, about minsIn addition the trees were butcheredI never received a call for payment (like the first time), and wasn’t going to track them down to pay for an end result that was insufficientRoughly a week or two later I received a call/email with an invoice for $I was shocked as you can imagineBy avoiding the call out to me, the tech was unclear of expected work and basically had a blank check to rack up as many hours as desired From there I discussed the issue with Sandy the owner as well as staff in her officeKeep in mind the reason I hired this company was to save time Call – Communicated my issues, Sandy was willing to listen, a little Call – Sandy called and suggest a follow up appointment to review the work that was incomplete Call – I cancelled the appointment, again, not time efficientThey did a bad job that I corrected, not worth more of my time Call – Sandy called, put the handyman on the line and had him apologize Call – Staff member calling to collect paymentBegrudgingly agreed $would satisfy the invoice Mail: Mailed check for $ Call – Sandy called, need to collect full payment of $540, unaware of the previous conversation with staff bember Call – Sandy called to collect $540, staff member not authorized to collect partial payment Call – Sandy called multiple times, willing to take half payment of $ Call is where I lost my temperThey dropped the ball, and are still trying to collect more than I agreed toBased on Sandy’s approach I get the feeling they’re struggling, and doing everything possible to gouge their customers In summary, I will never use Handyman matters again in the futureIt would have been much more efficient to do the work myself The idea is great, ownership and business management are terrible

What the person who scheduled [redacted] was offering was the one day, hour special.? This offer is on our web site for verification.? The person who scheduled the appointment did say that it would go over the hours and that would be $21.50/ quarter hour until complete.? This is a standard script that our office uses all the time on each call.? ? ? ? Our craftsman did call the day before, and left a message.? ? At the first notice of complaint, I saw ***'s phone number on his cell phone, but with time passing, it is no longer available for verification.? If verification is required, we would have to request the craftsman's phone record.? ? So, the craftsman called but did not receive a call back from the customerThe tile was mostly completed in the days, 9/6, 9/7/9/8.? ? The final tile and base trim were completed on? 9/16.? ? ? With our VOIP system, I have recorded calls on the only phone number we have for ***: ###-###-####, on 9/8, 9/9, 9/12, 9/19, 9/20, 9/21, 9/22.? ? The two times there was a conversation with [redacted] are on 9/and 9/21.? How come [redacted] doesn't mention the additional work that was required to clean the concrete floor in preparation for the tile and that he requested the base trim to be installed?? ? This is included in the $along with the $discount.? ? Handyman Matters has tried to satisfy ***'s concerns, however, the work was completed and he was satisfied with the quality of the work.? ? ? Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to meThank you for the itemized informationI'll send a check tomorrow Sincerely, [redacted] ?

The bill has nothing to do with the repair of the closet door This is legitimate billing for other work done at his house I am contacting our window and door person who was last there to understand what is going on with the closet door I will be in touch

From the onset of the project, the office of Handyman Matters has been in communication with [redacted] . The phone record shows calls to and from [redacted] , keeping her informed of the project. There were delays because of work schedule and a vacationAfter a discussion with [redacted] , the craftsman describing the concerns that [redacted] has, we have refunded some of the last hours to touthe stain on the front of the TV. A refund in a total amount of $has been credited to the credit card. Handyman Matters does give proposals for larger projects. We are a time and materials company which [redacted] knows because she has used Handyman Matters services for a few years. There was no delay in scheduling the project as the office was in communication with [redacted] throughout. work schedule and arranging for someone to be at the house and then vacation had to be worked around. The office relies on the craftsman to keep us informed of the progress of the project, as they manage it themselves. [redacted] does not schedule work, however does answer the telephone when there is a concerned customer. There was no complaint for the prior project. The credit card was billed at the time of the installation of the prior project. I was mistaken that the wood was to be paid for, not being informed that [redacted] had purchased it herself. My mistake. I do apologize. The work order was kept open and on-going work was put onto the same number which caused confusion about the total being billed. Only the custom wood project was being billed with the additional labor hours. No charge was erroneously re-billed. If [redacted] notices on the first invoice sent to her, the "credit" amount at the bottom of the invoice that shows the previous payment in October 2016. The mistake was the wood purchase that was paid for directly by [redacted] .

[redacted] is in correct, this is still an open dispute with my credit card company, it has not been resolved.? Secondly, [redacted] is very savvy at ripping off the consumer, read the complaints on the this site about them and on [redacted] ? ? It's all consistent with the experience I had with Handyman Matters

We purchased a fence over two months ago from a company called [redacted] The company, on their website, lists handyman matters as their company of choiceThey state that handyman matters has specific training to install the exact fence we boutWe purchased the ft fence for $and paid handyman matters $to install itWhen the worker arrived, he informed us he had been on the job a couple of days and had never seen or heard of this type of fence but that he could install itHe didn't have the necessary tools, cut all of our posts, and at the end of the day we paid $to have a fence installed that is falling downI have extra feet of fencing in my garage as only feet was installedI can't re use the posts that are supposed to be moveable because they were cutWe have bungee cords supporting the fenceI have a letter from the fence company stating that the fencing was installed incorrectlyI have contacted both companies, neither is willing to tr

I had a long list of items I wanted done, primarily painting the LR, DR, halls of my ranch home I had to call to get the estimate when I had not received it days after the estimate visitI assumed that the estimate was for the entire projectThey did not tell me that they charged by the hour, that were discounts available, or that if a workman would need more time to complete the project he had to call in by 3:PM and even that would not guarentee there would be some one there the next dayWhen I was told that men would come, only one would comeBottom line I've paid out more money than the original estimate for the whole job, to have only a partial paint job and ceiling drywall repairs completedThe communication and ability to give accurate estimate are very poorThe quality of what work was done is goodWhen I spoke with Sandy the owner, I felt she was displacing the problems onto the office staff and the workmen I will not be having them complete my painting or my list of JobsI would not recommend this company to do anything

We scheduled with HandyMan Matters to do some window repair workAt the first appointment, the workman didn't want to get on the roof due to ice, which is completely understandableHowever the office person, Sandy, called and accused us of sending him away, without full information about why he wanted to reschedule The 2nd appointment had to be rescheduled because their person was sickAgain, office person's behavior was curt and quite rude in the interactions Seems like they think it's only their time that is valuable and not the customers We've moved on with someone else to do the work

The first contact with [redacted] was August 19th at 1:p.m Handyman Matters Inside sales took the call and scheduled the ceiling fan to be hung, understanding that it was a vaulted ceiling She explained that we are a time and materials company, we will send our Master electrician out to wire the new fan and then another craftsman will repair the drywall She doesn't remember giving a time for the drywall repair8/ [redacted] , Master electrician arrived to fish wire to the peak of the ceiling [redacted] determined the center of the room where there is a roof beam [redacted] stated that he did not want the fan off-set on the ceiling and a solution needed to be found The Master Electrician then told [redacted] this would be more than hours of his time and that the cost would be $1,- 2,with the box and drywall workThe craftsman [redacted] arrive on Wednesday night to look at the project He also said that it would be two days, about - hour job to build a custom center box to mount this ceiling fan, drywall patching and painting 8/ [redacted] arrived and spoke to [redacted] briefly Set up his tools The majority of the work was done on Thursday Ceiling joist are not centered to the room so the custom box had to be mounted 5" from the center This is important because [redacted] wanted the fan in the center of the room [redacted] explained to [redacted] that he was trying to get the center as best possible, with the right angle to the peak of the ceiling, to then build a custom mounting box None of this work could be done in the house because of the debris and dust All cutting was done outside of the house about 20' away A second, un-scheduled craftsman arrived to help with the lifting of the box pieces from the floor [redacted] was not charged for this additional help Work done was drywall repair, corner bead, mud and drywall [redacted] discussed with [redacted] the painting of the ceiling [redacted] thought it was Behr from [redacted] *** [redacted] took a patch of ceiling to match the paint at [redacted] *** When he returned, he started to apply paint in some areas It did not match [redacted] then went down stairs to find [redacted] paint the was labeled "kitchen" that he thought was also for the den where the ceiling fan was installedWhile doing clean-up, [redacted] commented to [redacted] while he was cleaning up that he didn't realize that this project would take so long [redacted] said that it is taking what it takes to meet what [redacted] wanted 8/ [redacted] arrived at ***'s hours about 8:a.m He set up tent with plastic , and tape, dropped it from the ceiling in 8'X8' area to contain the drywall dust when sanding [redacted] finished sanding and then started painting It was obvious that even the [redacted] paint that [redacted] had brought up from the basement did not match the sheen [redacted] arrive about 2:p.mto complete the installation of the fan to the custom box [redacted] decided he needed a remote control, so [redacted] went shopping for the remote while [redacted] was completing the custom box When [redacted] returned, [redacted] help to hang the heavy ceiling fan and touthe drywall [redacted] then mopped the hardwood floor and cleaned up [redacted] did not bill [redacted] for the hours this day when helping [redacted] and cleaning up [redacted] was in touch with the office and asked me to come and look at the project I was scheduled to go out on Monday September 5th [redacted] call and cancelled that appointment and rescheduled for the 9thIn response to [redacted] not being happy about the paint, [redacted] returned 9/to touch up the paint again This was all non-billable to try and match the paint When I arrived, I asked [redacted] if he let [redacted] know that I was coming [redacted] said that he had just spoken to him, that [redacted] had been on a conference call earlier I was looking at the painting when ***'s wife was in the kitchen I went there to introduce myself and let her know that I was here to hear their concerns At one point, [redacted] told me that there was another company that had given him a similar price for this custom project [redacted] was directing the project and the craftsmen The Master electrician and the craftsman kept [redacted] informed of the cost and scope of work After this date, There were two other appointments set for someone else to resolve the concerns that [redacted] and his wife had Both appointments were cancelled by *** [redacted] disputed the charges with the credit card company They stood behind Handyman Matters charges and documented work

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: If I had known the door could not be fixed I would have told [redacted] not to try to fix it, but to leave When he came back from the store with the parts to fix the door he said they were not the right ones but that he could install them anyway When I spoke with the company on the phone that's when I was told the door was too old and needed to be replaced At that time they said they'd give us a discount on installing a new door Why would I have let [redacted] fix the door in the first place if I had been told we needed a new one? Sincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I was not told by [redacted] that I needed a new door He bought parts to fix the door and installed them so he must have thought they would work He also bought and installed a new door handle which I did not request Since he now says he cannot fix our door we would like our money back Sincerely, [redacted]

Handyman broke off tensioner screw head on curtain *** then took a picture to act like it was already done *** is now damaged since we had to pull and twist it to remove it and we asked for a refund of $which is what it cost originally from *** *** Owner provided zero refund because she said damage was already there I didn't realize that I had to videotape the time the handyman was there to prove that he caused the damage

Handyman Matters is a time and materials company, a range was given over the telephone. For projects less than days, no one goes out to the site prior to the appointment. *** is familiar with this policy because she has scheduled prior projects with Handyman Matters in on 4/4, 4/29, 5/and 7/7. The assembly of the furniture in the garage and moving it to the bedroom was completed more quickly with two craftsmen. *** was notified prior to the appointment by phone and by email letting her know that two craftsmen would be coming. *** signed authorization for both to be there and to be charged the day of the appointment per the receipt copy she was given *** returned the furniture due to personal reasons, not damage. Our craftsmen contacted the furniture company to have a new headboard top piece shipped out within the week. There was no additional expense to *** regarding this replacement. The craftsman that stripped the head board top was willing to install the piece at no additional cost to *** if she would contact the office when it arrived. The balance is still due in the amount of $445.87. Per the contract: It is further agreed that in the event full payment is not made as agreed above, customer will forfeit all discounts, pay a $collection fee, and interest on all unpaid balances will accrue at the rate of 2% per month from the date the work was substantially completed. It is unfortunate that *** has hung up on me when I tried to work out the balance of payment. It is difficult to come to an agreement when the other party is not willing to discuss it. It makes sense to pay for each worker when work has been performed and completed
