Handyman Matters - South Reviews (77)

I hired Handyman Matters from Centennial to tile my bathroom When I made the appointment the person who scheduled me gave me the wrong information about what I needed material wise for their person to tile my bathroom I made sure that the person would call me before he came so I could be sure that I had the right materials--he never called I was also told that it would be a $special and was never told anything else about price I told the scheduler it was square feet When the person came to do the job he told me it was much smaller than square feet and that I had the wrong material and that he could only work about hours that day because of that he acknowledged that he was supposed to call before he came Then there was a series of miscommunication from the scheduler at the company which resulted in a week long gap between the start and ending of the job Upon the end of the job I was presented with a $bill Apparently there was a $charge for every h

Handyman Matters is a time and materials company, a range was given over the telephone. For projects less than days, no one goes out to the site prior to the appointment. *** is familiar with this policy because she has scheduled prior projects with Handyman Matters in on 4/4, 4/29, 5/and 7/7. The assembly of the furniture in the garage and moving it to the bedroom was completed more quickly with two craftsmen. *** was notified prior to the appointment by phone and by email letting her know that two craftsmen would be coming. *** signed authorization for both to be there and to be charged the day of the appointment per the receipt copy she was given *** returned the furniture due to personal reasons, not damage. Our craftsmen contacted the furniture company to have a new headboard top piece shipped out within the week. There was no additional expense to *** regarding this replacement. The craftsman that stripped the head board top was willing to install the piece at no additional cost to *** if she would contact the office when it arrived. The balance is still due in the amount of $445.87. Per the contract: It is further agreed that in the event full payment is not made as agreed above, customer will forfeit all discounts, pay a $collection fee, and interest on all unpaid balances will accrue at the rate of 2% per month from the date the work was substantially completed. It is unfortunate that *** has hung up on me when I tried to work out the balance of payment. It is difficult to come to an agreement when the other party is not willing to discuss it. It makes sense to pay for each worker when work has been performed and completed.

I am rejecting this response because: I was not told by *** that I needed a new door. He bought parts to fix the door and installed them so he must have thought they would work. He also bought and installed a new door handle which I did not request. Since he now says he cannot fix our door we would like our money back
Sincerely,
*** ***

There were hidden obstacles from the builder that required correction before the complete job of eliminating the water leak could be accomplished. *** ok'd that up grades in the bathroom to be able to sell her home. There were repeated attempts over the past two months to contact ***. They were ignored. It is unfortunate, because Handyman Matters made every effort to come to an agreement before this escalated to this level. There are no more discounts to labor. Per the client agreement interest charged on the unpaid balance and attorney fees are chargeableIf the full amount of the invoice is not paid, then further action will need to be taken for the home improvements Handyman Matters performed at *** *** *** * *** *** ** ***

Mid August, I contacted Handyman Matter to install in a new ceiling I explained to Handyman Matter service rep on the phone,it's a completely new install, requires completely new wiring and new install of a ceiling fan in a room with 14' vaulted ceiling, with no attic above it I was provided an estimated around $total and the work to be completed in 4-hours The work was going to be performed in two parts, electrician first and then drywall and fan installer who would follow the electrician
The night before the work was supposed to I received a call from the dry wall / fan installer He let me know the job was too big and was leaving town to CA for the weekend and couldn't get it done in time, therefore he wasn't coming I called first thing the next morning and they had another person come for the drywall / fan install, he was weeks on the job On day after I talked with the owner a few times and repeatedly disagreed with each other, she came to our home unann

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2015/07/24) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I assumed that Handyman Matters would have purchased wood materials that would not split or warp within a month period at least, otherwise this project would have to be constantly rebuiltThe rail board and the dog ramp board are still warpedTo say that the wood warping is natural when it rains is crazy, otherwise all the fences in the neighborhood would look like that.Yes all fence wood materials eventually split to some degree, but not to this extent weeks after being builtI should not have to pay for the cost of replacement materialsYes at one point I did say the ramp and fence were fine, which they were at the timethat was before they split and warpedWe are still within the one year warrantee period so making an issue of that is irrelevant and demonstrates lack of customer service

What Ms *** is not telling you is that a stop payment was issued right after the job was doneSeveral phone calls were made to Ms *** and a personal visit was made to resolve this issue early onPhone calls were not returned and emails were not replied toCollections process was started in FebruaryThe cost of Collections (Ms *** knows this) is $THis amount is still owed to Handyman MattersI offered to replace the board and fill the post with wood filler if Ms *** would pay for itAt the time the first repair work was completed on the fence and gate, both the craftsman and I asked if she would like the ramp replaced at the timeShe said noIf Ms *** is willing to reimbursed Handyman Matters the $for collections fees, we will be happy to replace the ramp and the one board - assuming it has not returned to it's original shape

Subject: Handyman matters case XXXXXXXX
Hi ***,
This case can be close as I have reached a resolution with Handyman Matters South
Sent from my iPad

Had Handyman Matters do some work for me, paid them, work was not completed, they came back out and work still not completeThey are now billing me for something and work still not completedI want them to leave me alone and I will find other ways of getting work doneAnything I owed them I have paid in fullI can't help it if they could not fix the project they signed on for but still I paid them over a thousand dollars to do itI won't pay anymore

I asked handyman matters of south *** to give me a bed in the middle of October regarding the construction of a wood door for an entertainment area to match the existing cabinetryThe quote they gave me was $to include materials and laborTheir warrantee indicates no payment until completed to my satisfactionWe engaged in this lengthy process that was first scheduled to take to weeks with a completion before ThanksgivingThe project completed December In the meantime the manager by the name of *** was somewhat obstructionist working with the handyman who is actually performing the constructionMidway through I was asked if I would provide my credit card number so they could purchase the wood directly which I did About November or so the handyman came to the house to do an install of the almost completed doorIt was right before my family was traveling and my husband would not be home to review the product to a final approval for color matchingWhile we

What the person who scheduled *** was offering was the one day, hour special. This offer is on our web site for verification. The person who scheduled the appointment did say that it would go over the hours and that would be $21.50/ quarter hour until complete. This is a standard script that our office uses all the time on each call. Our craftsman did call the day before, and left a message. At the first notice of complaint, I saw ***'s phone number on his cell phone, but with time passing, it is no longer available for verification. If verification is required, we would have to request the craftsman's phone record. So, the craftsman called but did not receive a call back from the customerThe tile was mostly completed in the days, 9/6, 9/7/9/8. The final tile and base trim were completed on 9/16. With our VOIP system, I have recorded calls on the only phone number we have for ***: ###-###-####, on 9/8, 9/9, 9/12, 9/19, 9/20, 9/21, 9/22. The two times there was a conversation with *** are on 9/and 9/21. How come *** doesn't mention the additional work that was required to clean the concrete floor in preparation for the tile and that he requested the base trim to be installed? This is included in the $along with the $discount. Handyman Matters has tried to satisfy ***'s concerns, however, the work was completed and he was satisfied with the quality of the work. On the back of the invoice is the "client agreement" that explains how Handyman Matters bills.

I am rejecting this response because: If I had known the door could not be fixed I would have told *** not to try to fix it, but to leave When he came back from the store with the parts to fix the door he said they were not the right ones but that he could install them anyway When I spoke with the company on the phone that's when I was told the door was too old and needed to be replaced At that time they said they'd give us a discount on installing a new door Why would I have let *** fix the door in the first place if I had been told we needed a new one?

*** approved the new *** shower pan for the shower that had a water leak in the old shower pan. *** purchased an inexpensive *** *** solid panel walls. Craftsman custom set the wall panels into the shower pan, caulked all panels to studs and caulked back of the panels to
shower pan. Then caulked the edge of the pan to seal. The two inch lip is on the *** shower pan is up over the surround. The shower diverter was installed as factory set temperature. It could not be changed at that time because the caulk has to dry before temperature adjusted. THis is when craftsman called to ask if *** wanted the bathroom painted and she agreed. This was in addition to the leak repair. The toilet shut-off valve was broken, installed a new supply line to the toilet and there is no leak. THe sewer flange was not attached at all to the sub-floor. THe hole cut to set the toilet was too large. Previous flooring was thin vinyal tile with adhesive backing. Installing new tile that raised toilet 5/8" higher. Craftsman was able to connect toilet to floor with shims and flange to the sewer line to secure. Caulked. The wall adjacent to bathroom had sewer line to roof vent and back of the washer. This line did not have correct pipes that building code requires. *** spoke directly to *** by phone that he needed to change pipes and she verbally approved this changeAll changes were verbally approved by *** to bring leaking shower up to code. A discount of $was given to *** on bill. The total amount due is $4,284.11.

1/31 It is unfortunate with the manufacturer does not stand behind the product. Handyman Matters has tried to reach *** and work out a solution to ***'s problem. Handyman Matters installed the mesh fence according to manufacturer video instructions
The mesh fencing was installed with the number of poles that were shipped on July 20th 2016. The craftsman installed approximately 12' apart and the mesh was attached to the number of poles that were shipped. There was approximately 40' of mesh left over because there were not enough poles The ground has a big slope to the topography and very rocky and hard. The sleeves that the poles were to be inserted into "mushroomed" and split because of the hard ground. The two craftsmen tried to get direction from the manufacture on the phone and it was not helpful. They were told to watch the video and that should be enough. The company is very arrogant and demeaningCurrently *** and *** of *** do not answer phone calls or emails The office called as follow up quality control in July after the installation *** gave us the highest #score and said "*** was the best. The hardest worker”. That doesn't sound like someone who was unhappy with the installation *** stated that Handyman Matters was "trained" installers or this product. What they want Handyman Matters to do was watch a video on of installation on the east coast, soft ground. Also the video was not clear on the attachment of the mesh to the poles In the video, there was instructions to cut the sleeves "to fit" if the poles did not go into the sleeves. There are various versions of videos from the manufacture and depending on which version the installer sees and none of the videos address Alpine type installs. I have tried to call *** and *** of *** and have not had success. It is frustrating to try to work the issue out, and not get a response The breed is *** *** and *** mix. She is large and is easily getting out. The wrong product was purchase for this type *** just call the office and again said that she really liked *** and he and *** did a great job based on what all four of them saw on the video. The include ***'s husband ***. She is very disappointed that *** is not returning either of their phone calls or emails. The extra 40' of mesh was because the craftsmen ran out of poles. Also it was the sleeves that were cut - not the poles. The sleeves were breaking and *** cut them as the video stated could be done if they were not fully inserted into the ground. *** and *** cut the sleeves, not the poles themselves.

There is no mention of the additional work that was requested by *** that is included in that amount. Also, our billing is clearly stated on the website and on the field invoice THe $is for the first hours only. Handyman Matters is a time and
materials company and give ranges of time, the discount labor special and then $each quarter hour to the nearest minutes. Handyman Matters does not quote jobs. Each home is as unique as the homeowner where special situations may arise. The craftsman said he tried to contact the customer the day before and left a message His call was not returned THe craftsman arrived at the appointment time and started to explain what needed to be done. *** at that time agreed to the work. The job was done well and extra time was requested for the additional work

Terrible companyI hired them to install a fenceof the panels they installed fell downThere is a huge gap at the bottom of the fenceI had to use railroad ties to block the bottom of the fence to keep my dogs and kid inside the yard

I hired Handyman Matters to assemble a brand new child's bedroom set from the boxThe job was scheduled for 7-7-The owner *** left me a voice mail the day before asking if it was ok if her employee *** bring a helperShe said she would email me explainingI did not receive an email explaining anything about a helperWe did not correspond again prior to 7-7-*** Schreiber showed up for the job with a helperA quote for the job was not givenI had hired Handyman Matters or times before using their hour special of $289.00-$The Helper accidentally drilled large holes through the top of the headboardThe damage was not repairable*** said he would contact the manufacturer to order a replacement at no charge to meHe said he or the helper would return to repair the headboard when I received itThe helper left prior to the entire job being completedHe asked me to sign an sheet confirming he was at the job and the hours he workedHe said this was documenti

I am rejecting this response because:I would hope that a Revdex.com "A" member would not keep saying to "read the fine print" The notion that there was extra work never came up--there should have been a required number of hours to do the "extra" work with an hour estimate and cost associated I never got anything besides the $earlier statement This was again a classic bait and switch--dont tell him how much thngs cost and we will just let the hours tick away I would have done the floor if I hadn't gotten bad advice fromt heir people that Hardbacker had to go down anyway so dont worry about it At this point I am going to go ahead and pay this becasue the next way they will screw me is to go to collections Their lack of concern for me as a unhappy customer speaks volumes The Revdex.com needs to take action and devalue their standing

Our VOIP system logs every phone call that is received and calls out. The job was scheduled on 6/with ***. OUr craftsman had been there previously to complete some projects. When the craftsman discussed the work with the office, he said that he would need assistance with the
furniture construction and moving. That is when *** was call on July first on ###-###-#### to notify her to expect two people for her project. An email was also sent on July at 10:a.minforming her of two people being required for the job. On July 7th, the office again contacted *** letting her know that the craftsman will be bringing another person as it was necessary for the project. The two craftsmen arrived at her home and obtained signatures allowing both craftsmen to be on site and perform the work. A follow up call was made on July 13th, 26, and 28th to discuss the matter. The craftsman also contacted *** on Friday 29th at 4:p.m stating that he requested a helper because of the scope of work. Handyman Matters is a time and materials company. At the time of setting the appointment, I gave ***, who had used Handyman Matters previously, a range of time to complete the work. She agreed that it would take about one full day, maybe more with the additional work she had in mind. The two craftsmen finished the priority work in less time than it would have taken one man.The balance due is $445.87, which includes interest charged on the unpaid balance and legal fees
