[redacted] is in correct, this is still an open dispute with my credit card company, it has not been resolved.  Secondly, [redacted] is very savvy at ripping off the consumer, read the complaints on the this site about them and on [redacted]
[redacted]   It's all consistent with the experience I had with Handyman Matters.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/11/10) */
On the day the work was scheduled the craftsman arrived to the un-occupied home. The craftsman check in with the office and the out-state homeowner. The list of will call HOme Depot list was given to the craftsman that day. Later in the...

day, the office contacted the property manager, at [redacted] All office communication by telephone and email has been logged and there has been 2 calls to the management company, [redacted], and 10 directly to the out of state homeowner.
There was no wasted time. The craftsman went directly to work and purchased the necessary materials. The delay of the tenants was 1), The inspector hired by [redacted] stated to our craftsman that the unit was not clean. 2) the tenants themselves delayed moving into the unit.
The out-of-state homeowner was given all pricing and explanation of our process before all work started. The total bill is $3.434.53

What the person who scheduled [redacted] was offering was the one day, 8 hour special.  This offer is on our web site for verification.  The person who scheduled the appointment did say that it would go over the 8 hours and that would be $21.50/ quarter hour until complete.  This is a standard script that our office uses all the time on each call.     Our craftsman did call the day before, and left a message.   At the first notice of complaint, I saw [redacted]'s phone number on his cell phone, but with time passing, it is no longer available for verification.  If verification is required, we would have to request the craftsman's phone record.   So, the craftsman called but did not receive a call back from the customer. The tile was mostly completed in the 3 days, 9/6, 9/7/9/8.  The final tile and base trim were completed on 9/16.    With our VOIP system, I have recorded calls on the only phone number we have for [redacted]: ###-###-####, on 9/8, 9/9, 9/12, 9/19, 9/20, 9/21, 9/22.   The two times there was a conversation with [redacted] are on 9/19 and 9/21.  How come [redacted] doesn't mention the additional work that was required to clean the concrete floor in preparation for the tile and that he requested the base trim to be installed?   This is included in the $2090.69 along with the $331.00 discount.   Handyman Matters has tried to satisfy [redacted]'s concerns, however, the work was completed and he was satisfied with the quality of the work.    On the back of the invoice is the "client agreement" that explains how Handyman Matters bills.

The first contact with [redacted] was August 19th at 1:11 p.m.   Handyman Matters Inside sales took the call and scheduled the ceiling fan to be hung, understanding that it was a vaulted ceiling.  She explained that we are a time and materials company, we will send our Master electrician...

out to wire the new fan and then another craftsman will repair the drywall.  She doesn't remember giving a time for the drywall repair. 8/24 [redacted] , Master electrician arrived to fish wire to the peak of the ceiling.  [redacted] determined the center of the room where there is a roof beam.  [redacted] stated that he did not want the fan off-set on the ceiling and a solution needed to be found.  The Master Electrician then told [redacted] this would be more than 5 hours of his time and that the cost would be $1,900 - 2,000.00 with the box and drywall work. The craftsman [redacted] arrive on Wednesday night to look at the project.   He also said that it would be two days, about 14 - 15 hour job to build a custom center box to mount this ceiling fan, drywall patching and painting..  8/25  [redacted] arrived and spoke to [redacted] briefly.  Set up his tools.  The majority of the work was done on Thursday.  Ceiling joist are not centered to the room so the custom box had to be mounted 5" from the center.  This is important because [redacted] wanted the fan in the center of the room.  [redacted] explained to [redacted] that he was trying to get the center as best possible, with the right angle to the peak of the ceiling, to then build a custom mounting box.   None of this work could be done in the house because of the debris and dust.  All cutting was done outside of the house about 20' away.   A second, un-scheduled craftsman arrived to help with the lifting of the box pieces from the floor.   [redacted] was not charged for this additional help.    Work done was drywall repair, corner bead, mud and  drywall.   [redacted] discussed with [redacted] the painting of the ceiling.  [redacted] thought it was Behr from [redacted].  [redacted] took a patch of ceiling to match the paint at [redacted].  When he returned, he started to apply paint in some areas.  It did not match.   [redacted] then went down stairs to find [redacted] paint the was labeled "kitchen" that he thought was also for the den where the ceiling fan was installed. While doing clean-up,  [redacted] commented to [redacted] while he was cleaning up that he didn't realize that this project would take so long.  [redacted] said that it is taking what it takes to meet what [redacted] wanted.  8/26  [redacted] arrived at [redacted]'s hours about 8:15 a.m.  He set up tent with plastic , and tape, dropped it from the ceiling in 8'X8' area to contain the drywall dust when sanding.  [redacted] finished sanding and then started painting.  It was obvious that even the [redacted] paint that [redacted] had brought up from the basement did not match the sheen.   [redacted] arrive about 2:15 p.m. to complete the installation of the fan to the custom box.   [redacted] decided he needed a remote control, so [redacted] went shopping for the remote while  [redacted] was completing the custom box.  When [redacted] returned, [redacted] help to hang the heavy ceiling fan and touch-up the drywall.  [redacted] then mopped the hardwood floor and cleaned up.  [redacted] did not bill [redacted] for the 2.5 hours this day when helping [redacted] and cleaning up.  [redacted] was in touch with the office and asked me to come and look at the project.  I was scheduled to go out on Monday September 5th.  [redacted] call and cancelled that appointment and rescheduled for the 9th.. In response to [redacted] not being happy about the paint, [redacted] returned 9/9 to touch up the paint again.  This was all non-billable to try and match the paint.   When I arrived, I asked [redacted] if he let [redacted] know that I was coming.  [redacted] said that he had just spoken to him, that [redacted] had been on a conference call earlier.   I was looking at the painting when [redacted]'s wife was in the kitchen.   I went there to introduce myself and let her know that I was here to hear their concerns.  At one point, [redacted] told me that there was another company that had given him a similar price for this custom project.  [redacted] was directing the project and the craftsmen.  The Master electrician and the craftsman kept [redacted] informed of the cost and scope of work.   After this date, There were two other appointments set for someone else to resolve the concerns that [redacted] and his wife had.  Both appointments were cancelled by [redacted].   [redacted] disputed the charges with the credit card company.  They stood behind Handyman Matters charges and documented work.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  If I had known the door could not be fixed I would have told [redacted] not to try to fix it, but to leave.  When he came back from the store with the parts to fix the door he said they were not the right ones but that he could install them anyway.  When I spoke with the company on the phone that's when I was told the door was too old and needed to be replaced.  At that time they said they'd give us a discount on installing a new door.  Why would I have let [redacted] fix the door in the first place if I had been told we needed a new one?
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I contacted Regional Manager [redacted] of Handyman Matters. We spoke at length regarding this complaint. He has been trying to contact [redacted] in efforts to resolve this complaint . She has not returned his calls. He said he will contact me as soon as he is able to get in touch with her.

[redacted] approved the new [redacted] shower pan for the shower that had a water leak in the old shower pan.  [redacted] purchased an inexpensive [redacted] solid panel walls.  Craftsman custom set the wall panels into the shower pan, caulked all panels to studs and caulked back of the panels to...

shower pan.  Then caulked the edge of the pan to seal.  The two inch lip is on the [redacted] shower pan is up over the surround.    The shower diverter was installed as factory set temperature.  It could not be changed at that time because the caulk has to dry before temperature adjusted.   THis is when craftsman called to ask if [redacted] wanted the bathroom painted and she agreed.  This was in addition to the leak repair.       The toilet shut-off valve was broken, installed a new supply line to the toilet and there is no leak.   THe sewer flange was not attached at all to the sub-floor.   THe hole cut to set the toilet was too large.  Previous flooring was thin vinyal tile with adhesive backing.  Installing new tile that raised toilet 5/8" higher.    Craftsman was able to connect toilet to floor with shims and flange to the sewer line to secure.  Caulked.    The wall adjacent to bathroom had sewer line to roof vent and back of the washer.   This line did not have correct pipes that building code requires.  [redacted] spoke directly to [redacted] by phone that he needed to change pipes and she verbally approved this change. All changes were verbally approved by [redacted] to bring leaking shower up to code.  A discount of $170.00 was given to [redacted] on bill.   The total amount due is $4,284.11.

AS stated on the paperwork, there was no warranty.   There was no warranty because the discussion, per the craftsman, was that he would try to repair the door, but parts are no longer available.  The door is original to the house.  IT IS VERY OLD!.  At the conclusion of the job on October 6th, I personally spoke to the homeowner and re-stated that the craftsman recommended that the door be replaced on follow up calls on 11/1, 11/22/11/30.   The craftsman stated that the door worked when he left, but recommended that the door be replaced.   That is still the recommendation of Handyman Matters to replace the door.  Every door has a lifespan, and this door has exceeded it's life.  The seals are broken and the track is worn out.  Handyman Matters did offer an installation discount, that the homeowner rejected.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I was not told by [redacted] that I needed a new door.  He bought parts to fix the door and installed them so he must have thought they would work.  He also bought and installed a new door handle which I did not request.  Since he now says he cannot fix our door we would like our money back.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

[redacted]   [redacted] was informed that his door needed to be replaced.  It is original to the house and manufacture parts are not available any longer. [redacted] decided that he did not want the door replaced but only fix it.   [redacted] did lubricate the track and at the time of...

the project, the patio door was working fine and the customer was satisfied.   A follow up call was made to [redacted] asking if he wanted Handyman Matters to replace the door  with a discount.   [redacted] stated the new rollers and lubrication no longer were working.   There was no labor warranty on the repair as the recommendation was to replace the whole door.
