Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

They mailed me a check for one month this winter (one prior in the fall) and didn't even explain how they arrived at the number for a refund. The issue occurred over a few months.I do not expect any more action at this time, however this company is potentially under investigation by the state, and I will facilitate any course of action in that regard.
Thank you to the BBC for your help!!!

The HIKO Energy said they do everything possible to resolve this issue. No, they did not thing to resolve this, they just said sorry you are stocked with the high electricity bill we said you owe.  That is all they did.

The customer enrolled on a variable rate plan with two of HIKO’s incentives:
1. Six months of guaranteed savings over the course of one year, and
2. One free month of energy supply after 12 months of services.
The rate that we offer is a variable rate. Unfortunately, due to the big increase in the cost of the energy, our rate has gone up. Although we can't guarantee savings every month, it is always our intention to do so. On a variable rate there will be times we can be higher or equal to the utility company’s rate. The variable rate is determined by HIKO Energy, based on numerous key factors, including current market conditions and climate
For the first 6 month period HIKO’s electric rates have been lower than the utility’s price to compare rates.
Aug 2013 PSE&G rate = 11.31¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.18¢.
Sep 2013 PSE&G rate = 10.81¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.18¢.
Oct 2013 PSE&G rate = 10.94¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.20¢.
Nov 2013 PSE&G rate = 10.95¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.30¢.
Dec 2013 PSE&G rate = 10.97¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 11.33¢.
Jan 2013 PSE&G rate = 10.97¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 10.86¢.
For the first 5 month period HIKO’s gas rates have been lower than the utility’s price to compare rates. The only exception was January 2014.
Aug 2013 PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 48.96¢.
Sep 2013 PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 48.96¢.
Oct 2013 PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 48.96¢.
Nov 2013 PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 48.96¢.
Dec 2013 PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 53.46¢.
Jan 2013 PSE&G rate = 54.39¢ compared to HIKO’s rate which = 89.00¢.
Because we were not lower than the PSE&G January’s rate we will do a rate adjustment to the utility’s posted rate. The customer will receive an email of the details of the adjustment.

Good Morning,
This Customer enrolled on a monthly variable rate for both her natural gas and electricity supply accounts in November 2013. During the winter, however, the cost of energy skyrocketed, causing our rates to increase as well. As stated in our Terms and Conditions, our variable rate is based on the market, cost, supply and demand, and other determining factors.
Because of this recent rate increase, HIKO has been experiencing extremely high call volume. Because customers were having difficulty reaching our Customer Service Department, we expanded our CSD over the past few weeks. We have representatives working around the clock to respond to all customer calls, messages, and inquiries.
The electricity account will be cancelled with out any penalty as of 04/**/14 and the natural gas will be on 05/**/14.
We have done a one-time courtesy adjustment per this customer's request.
A copy of this resolution has been sent to this customer.

Good Afternoon,
Customer enrolled with HIKO's monthly variable rate plan with no guaranteed savings. We have kept our rates as competitive as possible. During the winter, however, the cost of energy skyrocketed, causing our rates to increase as well. Because of this recent rate increase, HIKO has been experiencing extremely high call volume. Because customers were having difficulty reaching our Customer Service Department, we expanded our CSD over the past few weeks. We have representatives working around the clock to respond to all customer calls, messages, and inquiries. Customer’s account has been cancelled without penalty. A one-time courtesy rate adjustment has been issued for this customer.
Thank you.

This customer sent a rebuttal to our resolution, however we do not feel that we are required to do anything further to satisfy this customer. We have tried to explain the terms of the enrollment. We explained that our terms and conditions which indicate that our variable rate is based on the market, cost, and other determining factors. The customer has been with HIKO for 11 months; 9 out of the 11 months our rates have been lower than the utility’s posted price to compare rates. This variable rate fluctuates with the market. We do try to keep our rates as competitive as possible, however this is still a variable rate. We feel that we have been compliant and at this point there is nothing further that we can offer this customer.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved becauseI still do not accept their response.  Yes, they did offer a "variable rate", and I understand that rates may fluctuate.  Their rates fluctuated within the first few months of my enrollment within a few percentage points.  All of a sudden, their rates increased by almost 200%.  This is the basis of my complaint.  Other suppliers' did not go up like that, and it is for this reason that I asked for a refund.  They [redacted] you into signing up with them by telling you that you will get your highest month bill refunded after a year.  Obviously they have this built into their inflationary rates.  After getting a bill that was almost 3 times my previous bills, I cancelled my contract with them.  They lure you in with a lot of talk, competitive rates, etc.  In no way have I found their rates competitive.  I have researched other companies since.  This is a typical "bait and switch" operation.
My main objective at this point is for the Revdex.com to be aware of their practices, and warn other unsuspecting people like me.  They are predators.  I have paid my final bill with them, and cancelled my contract.  At this point, I realize I will not receive a refund.  I just hope that others who may be badgered by them to sign up with them, will do their homework first and see what kind of company Hiko is.[Your Answer Here]

My
compliant is not yet resolved. I was enrolled with Guaranteed Savings plan of
Hiko Energy LLC. The agreement and the welcome packet
received from HIKO has the savings plan details “GUARANTEED TO BE 1-7%
LESS THAN YOUR LOCAL UTILITY PRICE TO COMPARE, FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHLY
BILLING CYCLES”
But I
was charged higher than my local utility charges. Details are below.
After
raising the compliant through Revdex.com and NJ Board of Public Utilities. I received
a check for $159.49 from HIKO as one time courtesy refund. I am not highly
accepting this. Till now the total over charged amount is $330.95.

Hiko refuses to adjust the tripled rate. Not acceptable. I have filed complaints with the PUC and Attorney Generals office also. I also attempted to negotiate a reasonable offer of $300.
