Good Afternoon,
This customer enrolled on a monthly variable rate in November 2013. During the winter, however, the cost of energy skyrocketed, causing our rates to increase as well. As stated in our Terms and Conditions, our variable rate is based on the market, cost, supply and demand, and other determining factors.
On 04/**/14 we contacted the customer and informed him of the variable rate plan and the rate increase. His cancellation have been confirmed. The natural gas account will be cancelled as of 04/**/14 and the electricity account was cancelled as of 03/**/14 without any penalty.
As per customer's request, we have done a one-time courtesy refund.
A copy of this resolution has bee sent to this customer.

Our records indicate that this customer enrolled his electricity supply account on our variable rate plan with Hiko Energy in February of 2014 via our website. On the site there is a Disclaimer: "The offer information on this website is provided solely for...

educational and informational purposes and may not represent a complete and/or accurate listing of all offers in the Connecticut marketplace. As with any contract, you should call individual suppliers to confirm offers, terms, and conditions before enrolling." 
As stated in our Terms and Conditions, our variable rate is based on the market, cost, supply and demand, and other determining factors. During the winter however, the cost of energy skyrocketed, causing our rates to increase as well. 
This customer's electricity account is currently active with Hiko. There has been no request to cancel. 
A copy of this resolution has been sent to this customer.

We received the rebuttal from this customer. We have done everything in our power to settle this with the customer. We feel that we have been compliant and at this point there is nothing further that we can offer this customer.

The customer was enrolled in HIKO’s monthly variable rate. HIKO has stayed as competitive as possible, however due to the harsh winter; the cost has increased, causing our rates to increase. As...

stated in our Terms and Conditions, our variable rate is determined by the cost, market, supply and demand, and other determining factors. 
Because of this recent rate increase, HIKO has been experiencing extremely high call volume. Because customers were having difficulty reaching our Customer Service Department, we expanded our CSD over the past few weeks. We have representatives working around the clock to respond to all customer calls, messages, and inquiries.
After further investigation HIKO has determined the customer will receive a one-time courtesy refund.

I sent all my paper work to the attorney general as they requested.They said hiko energy was bieng investigated by them.

 The response from HIKO Energy LLP did not address the point,  when HIKO signed me up as customer, it promised that their rate will be lower or equal to the rate published by PPL utility.  Even it is a exceptional cool winter, HIKO Energy have the responsibility to keep the electricity rate under or equal the rate published by PPL Utility. It is not fair that when market rate is low, then HIKO keep the profit, but market rate jump, the customers pay for their mistake with tripling the rate to cover their lost.  In business, you sometime make profit, some time you lost money.  I am simply asking HIKO to adjust the electricity rate to the same rate charged by PPL Utility.

This is the same response they send for every customer with a complaint. So where's my rembrusment? And why is it that I never knew that they were on my bill. They a a fraud company n I need to get my money back. Maybe they shouldn't say that they are from PSEG.

The business contacted me and said it would take 30 to 60 days to come off my bill this would be May **, 2014.   I will not know if they are Truly off my bill until I receive my June bill from PSE&G.

Our call volume has drastically increased recently, but to ensure that customers are able to reach us, we have doubled our Customer Service staff this week.
Regarding our offers and rates, HIKO does try to stay as competitive as possible. The rate that we offer is a variable rate. Unfortunately, because of the extreme weather and other determining factors, the cost of electricity and natural gas skyrocketed this winter. Because we only offer variable rates, our rates went up to reflect our cost.
The customer enrolled on a variable rate plan with two of HIKO’s incentives:
1. Six months of guaranteed savings over the course of one year, and
2. One free month of energy supply after 12 months of services.
Because we understand the customer was inconvenienced when he tried to reach our Customer Service Department we will do a rate adjustment.

 I actually got a hold of them.  They wouldn't give me a refund but apparently they did cancel my contract.  I want a refund due to the unfair pricing that this company is engaged in.  Please help.

The customer enrolled on a variable rate plan with two of HIKO’s incentives, Savings up to 7% over the course of one year and one free month of energy supply after 12 months of services. The rate that we offer is a variable rate. Unfortunately, due to the big increase in the cost of the energy, our rate has gone up. Although we can't guarantee savings every month, it is always our intention to do so. On a variable rate there will be times we can be higher or equal to the utility company’s rate. The variable rate is determined by HIKO Energy, based on numerous key factors, including current market conditions and climate. We reached out to customer with our final resolution.
