Instant Checkmate put an ad on a website claiming you could find out everything about yourself on the webThis ad went to their homepage which made it very easy to just type in name and location without seeing any other information on the websiteAfter having to agree to many different things and wait through numerous loading screens, all of which took multiple minutes, Instant Checkmate finally delivered me to a paywall asking that I give them money if I actually wanted to see what was, up to this point, assumed to be a free productAt no point before making me sit through numerous loading screens was there any indication that there was any sort of fee or membership requiredThis is less honest than most scam websitesThey understand that psychologically, you are more likely to give them money if they've already got you to agree to sit through the waiting times, and more likely to give if you've agreed to other things like not using the information to blackmail somebodyThis is an abuse of psychological principles and dishonest
