Review: I received an email from a tv show I had watched, Mr. Food Test Kitchen, about a 6 piece bread dipping set for $9.95 in June 2014. I ordered the set and received it with no problems, and thought nothing else about it. I check my credit card statement regularly, so I don't know how I missed the fact they were charging me $9.95 twice a month since then! I did a search and looked them up on the internet and found many complaints against them for secretly charging customers without their knowledge. I looked them up on the Revdex.com here and saw 14 complaints, and every time the company comes back and says they were charging for a member ship. I went and checked, I still have my receipt, I checked their website, where you order the bread dipping set, I checked the fine print in their terms and conditions...There is nothing saying anything about a membership, or any other charges, if there had been I would not have ordered from them. Now to show how sneaky they try to be, they change the name of the charge multiple times...sometimes it is MBM Gourmet Cooking, sometimes MBM[redacted], sometimes it is JBEI [redacted]. So these people have charged about $170 on my credit card since June, that I knew nothing about... I want all my money back and no more charges to my card...furthermore I think they should be prosecuted for what they are doing, it is nothing but stealing and crookedness.Desired Settlement: I want the entire amount of money except for the initial $9.95 for the bread dipping set credited to my credit card, and no more payments charged to my card.

Review: On November 5, 2014 I placed an order for a cookbook offered by Gourmet Cooking through the North American Hunting Club. I have never received the item I ordered, I tried to find a way to contact them but there is no contact information on their website. Since then they have emailed me that the payment on my VISA card failed to process and that I should call them. I have tried to call several times and was on hold for over a half hour each time so I just hung and gave up. They have since emailed me and said that if I did not call within ten days that they would turn me over to a collection agency.Desired Settlement: I wish to cancel my order and not be bothered by them again. I can not trust someone that mishandles my credit card information the way they have. I am sixty years old and have never had any financial problems before this and I have excellent credit.

Review: Who would have thought I would need to make a complaint about another scam again today, however, I did not sign up for monthly service of getting a monthly system for recipies from the above company. I noticed I had not gotten a product I thought I ordered through gourmet cooking, called this morning and learned the $9.95 is a monthly charge for the service of getting recipies each month. I did not know I signed up for it and have never used it. It seems I supposedly signed up in July 2014, and they took out my first payment in Setp 2014. I came unglued, I told the lady on the phone, [redacted], that I was going to report the company to the Revdex.com and she told me to hold, rather than just one month refund she said they were making a 3 month refund – however, I still have 5 months that I have paid which I really need! That is $49.75 taken out of my account without my knowledge. I am a 73 year old widow after 52 years of marriage and surviving on my social security. When our children were young, the government took social security out of both of our paychecks, but when my husband died, I only got his social security, even though our budget was set up around both of our social security incomes. I don’t have the money to pay gourmet cooking the 5 months of $9.95 and ask that you do your thing to help me with this also. Desired Settlement:

Review: I ordered a cookbook at a price that seemed like a very good deal. It was $2.98 with $.99 shipping.

The initial charge was $13.76 on 7/12/13

I received another charge on 8/12/13 in the amount of $29.85.

Finally I received a charge of $29.85 on 9/10/13.

I somehow did not notice the first two charges when they happened. However as soon as I saw the third charge, I contacted their customer service.

I was told that I agreed to pay these payments when I clicked on their "customer agreement". There was no such "customer agreement"

I was also told that these charges were for their online services and some items they included in the package in which the cookbook was shipped.

However, I distinctly remember there being a letter included it the package thanking me for my order, and stating that these additional items were "free gifts".

I was offered an opportunity to return all items for credit in their online store. I find that to be an unacceptable solution.Desired Settlement: I believe an acceptable solution would be that they refund me everything, minus the original $3.97 that I actually agreed to pay.

As another option to them I will accept a full refund and return all items, unused, if they send me a prepaid padded shipping envelope.

I will ship the items only after receiving a refund.

Response:

I have been contacted by Kitchen Advance, and they have refunded my payments in full. I am currently waiting to receive a return shipping label. However, I do disagree with their statements regarding my agreement with their terms involving the trial period. I stand by my original statement, that I clicked on the "No Thank You" link at every place it was an option. I am a skeptical person when it comes to"free Trials" or "special offers". Perhaps they have a software issue that needs addressed. Either way, I am now to return all items, including the one that I originally agreed to purchase. The very item that lured me to theirbusiness, and made me want to be a customer. I am not entirely pleased since I wanted the item at the price they offered it, but will gladly take back my money and be sure to warn others to steer clear of Kitchen Advance.

Review: Responded to a co-branded email blast from a trusted print publisher with an offer from Kitchen Advance dba GourmetCookingOnline.com. Received the product in a timely fashion, however then began to receive a variety of email solicitations for products likely for sale through the site. I opted out of these emails, knowing that this was the typical business model of sites looking to grow traffic i.e. offer something for 'free', just pay shipping and handling, and now they have my contact info. What was NOT made clear, however, was that I was arbitrarily being opted-in to two unique charges from [redacted] and [redacted] (presumably subsidiaries of Kitchen Advance) for $9.95 PER MONTH. I had no interest in subscribing to a gourmet cooking site, I was simply making a purchase. This kind of 'slamming' got the telcom industry in hot water a decade ago ~ why is it happening today?

After raising quite a stink with the initial CS rep, I was escalated to [redacted], her manager. After giving him an earful, he refunded 90 days of charges, leaving me out $19.90 for December 2013 charges. It is incomprehensible to me that the four chefs featured on Kitchen Advance's website have the audacity to claim themselves professionals in their industry while their business is scamming potential customers.Desired Settlement: Reformat the site so that users OPT-IN for further services rather than be FORCED into a billing scenario that is clearly fraudulent. And for what it's worth, if your CS reps have to hide behind your Terms & Conditions to shield themselves from a consumer's complaints about this scam, then your business model is obviously flawed.

Response:

Dear Sir or Madam,

With regard to this complaint against Gourmet Cooking filed on 8/25/14, id # [redacted], I am pleased to inform you I have received my refund in full. Thank you so much for your assistance in this matter.

Cordially,

Review: Kitchen Advance, alias RMC Gourmet Cooking had an insert ad in an email I was sent with an attractive product at an attractive price. I selected the product which took me to a website to order. Upon ordering, I was continuously given the option to order more items at the price of $ 1.00 each. I was suspicious but could not find a good reason not to so I selected 4 of the offers. The package arrived a few days later and there was NO INVOICE. I looked up the charge on my credit card statement, got the phone number and called for the itemized invoice. First, the was over a forty dollar s&h charge which I wasn't aware of and did not agree to. Then I was told if I liked all of the items I had selected, after thirty days there would be three monthly payments for each of the items. These would have totaled an amount NO ONE would ever consider for the same. I have learned some of the items would automatically be re-ordered without my consent. To compound the issue, the company uses multiple names with no physical address making it extremely difficult to file a complaint. Thanks very much to the Revdex.com in Az. for their help in the research. Tempe Az. was the only address I had to return the products. It is a fulfillment center.Desired Settlement: One of the companies has agreed to refund the s & h charges within 3-4 days and the balance when goods are returned. I do not want to see any additional charges from any of their associated companies on ANY FUTURE credit card statements.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The products mentioned have been returned. I will withhold stating the matter is resolved until I view my credit card bill after the thirty days.

Regards,

Review: I received an email advertising some cookbooks for $3.95 each and decided to purchase them. After adding the books to my cart, I was offered several other low-cost items, some of which I purchased. My total came to $46.42. I received the items and my credit card was charged. A month later, a charge of $83.50 showed up on my bank statement. When I called them, they told me the total amount I actually owed was over $200. No where on their website do they say that the products I bought were more than advertised. I always read the fine print, but there wasn't any fine print to read. I asked for my money back, but they only offered me $15.Desired Settlement: These people need to be put out of business. I did some further research and there are many complaints against them.

I don't accept this answer. The "real" price is in small print at the bottom of the page where a person has to scroll down to see it. If they are so proud of their merchandise why put the "real"price in such small print. They are obviously a bait and switch company with absolutely no scruples. Losers big time!

We received the response letter you sent.

As previously shown in the exhibits we provided, the pricing for each offer she accepted

are listed not only below the offer but above it as well. The details are not in fine print. We

trust that consumers read the offers they accept, as she states she does in her original letter.

As a show of good faith we have issued her a $41.75 refund, which is half her disputed amount

of $83.50. Additionally, we have removed all further payments on her order. She has paid just

$88.17 for an order priced at $290.87, amounting to 70'ro off. Our original offer still stands and

she can return any items for an additional refund less shipping & processing.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience that she experienced as a result of this

purchase. We try very hard to satisfy our customers and to learn from them when they have not

had a good experience with us. We hope and trust that this matter is now resolved. Should you

Sincerely,

Review: They tell you you will get free shipping and other free items with your order, then charge $29.00 shipping and don't tell you, even on your emailed receipt. I tried to cancel the order the following day and they said they can't do that. I will have to wait and return the items to get a refund.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund!

The charge is now back on my account as of today 10/10/2014 , from shopgourmetcooking.com

Review: As a senior citizen, on a very limited income and recuperating from a surgery, last November I received an email (in conjunction with a legitimate business) with an advertisement for a old fashioned historical cookbook, for a little over $9.00 Deciding to buy it for a Christmas gift, I checked the box to buy it, and filled out the cc information. Then, additional items were added to my cart, and the price was incredibly out of line for what they were. So I simply erased everything, and NO ORDER WAS EVER PLACED! Yet, in December, I received a large box with everything THAT I DIDN'T ORDER! I took it to the post office and marked it return to sender, REFUSED. In the meantime, my credit union account was charged $36.79 for a partial payment of the total price of these items. I contested this, and the credit union gave me a temporary credit. However, the business informed my credit union that I failed to read the fine print, and was only due a refund of $6.94, AND I NEVER PLACED AN ORDER!! So I was out $29.85. Every attempt made to get that remaining $29.85 has only been a circle of employees telling me different lies. After a promise to restore the funds to my account in a few days by two people ([redacted]?) and some other guy, many weeks later, nothing. The last story I was told was I already had the refund, and good bye! Not so quick! Having checked this business out, they are obviously a fly by night bunch (with several different DBAs - names) and only intent on scamming everyone who comes in contact with them. I DEMAND MY $29.85, AND AFTER ALL THIS TIME, I SHOULD BE PAID BACK DOUBLE FOR MY EFFORTS, DUE TO THEIR ONGOING AND CONSISTENT LIES! I need my money for medications, and this is a pure case of SENIOR ABUSE and I think it could go to a higher court as well! I told them before of my medical issues, and I have to have my medications. Obviously, they don't care if I live or die! I DO, and this money needs to be restored to me ASAP!!Desired Settlement: AFTER ALL THE LIES AND OBFUSCATION PERPETRATED, I EXPECT A CHECK FOR $29.85 PLUS, $4.00 PER MONTH FOR MY TIME AND HEALTH TROUBLE. TOTAL AMOUNT DUE NOW: $56.85THE TIME FOR THE BASIC REFUND OF $29.85 HAS PASSED, AND SHOULD THE COMPANY FAIL TO PROVIDE ME THE COMPENSATION I HAVE REQUESTED, I CAN PROMISE FURTHER LITIGATION, ESPECIALLY FOR SENIOR ABUSE. THEY HAVE HAD THE USE OF MY MONEY, AND HAVE KEPT ME FROM GETTING MY MUCH NEEDED MEDS AT THE TIME I NEEDED THEM. MY HEALTH SUFFERED!!

Review: I ordered a cook book for under $5 a few months ago. I was sent some other cheap items with the cook book with a note saying thanks for being a valued customer. My husband brought to my attention a charge on our credit card for apprx $80 for something called gourmet cooking. I told him I had no idea what it was. Today I called and spoke with a lady who told me I owed another $30 as a last payment of a total of over 200 we had already been charged for items I had received. I told her I only ordered a $5 cookbook she said one minute I need to transfer you to my supervisor. I spoke with a man that basically said too bad you ordered this stuff. I asked for him to please send my original invoice where I ordered the cook book and he said I cant do that. I asked why and he couldnt answer except to say he didnt have it. I told him I never authorized any additional charges or did I order anything other than the cook book. He said the would not charge me the next 30. I said what abou the 80 you just charged. He said I would have to send everything back. I said but you have charged me already and I have paid for the cookbook. I told him I have already paid over 100 for a cookbook I thought was 5! I told him if I was going to send it all back I want a total refund. He said something about the refund could take 30-45 days. I said you are kidding...I am going to just cancel my card something doesnt sound legit about this. He said if I cancelled my card I would get no credit at all. He also told me I had to pay to ship everything back. He said he would send an invoice to me but it would take 7-10 business days then he said something about could take 30-45 days, by then he was talking so fast I couldnt understand everything he said. He also said the invoice would not be the original because there isnt one. Please help. I dont know what to do now. If I cancel my card he said no refund but I am afraid I am going to get billed again.Desired Settlement: If I send everything back I want a full refund. I also feel like they should pay for the return of the items since I did not order anything besides the cookbook. I will send the cookbook back too at this point I dont want anything to do with this company.
