I am a member of the LA Fitness in Cape Coral FL and unfortunately, I am not able to continue with training contract due to medical reasons My doctor wrote a letter to LA Fitness on July 30th to cancel out my contract and I was told it was to vague, I need to tell LA Fitness my medical reason The note from the doctor should be enough I do not feel it is any concern of LA Fitness what my medical condition is Also, when I brought the note to the Cape Coral office, I was told that since it is vague, LA Fitness believes I took part in having my doctor write a fraudulent letter I can guarentee the letter was not part of fraud and I have never taken part in anything fraudI also can guarantee my doctor would not like her name associated to anything fraud I will inform my doctor of how she was also accused As of today,July 5th, I just heard from the Cape Coral office and was told that indeed LA Fitness believes my doctors note is to vague and I have to have my doctor tell LA Fitness my medical reason Has LA Fitness never heard of the HIPPA Law - privacy of medical information

Dear Revdex.com,
I got added onto my stepfather’s LA Fitness account last year and have been going to the gym ever sinceTwo months into it, I felt obligated to sign up for months of personal fitness training because a trainer offered a free session for first timersThe trainer was very nice, however she did a few things to make me uncomfortable: she asked for my credit card number via text, and also was very pushy about getting me to sign a contract for a year’s trainingBecause we had already spent enough time chatting (I really wanted to leave), I felt guilty for taking her time because I didn’t want to do the full year, so the compromise was that I would sign up for three months and three months onlyAfter I paid and signed the contract that said it was only for months, I leftIt was $for the installment plus January’s fee, then $for the months of February and MarchAfter that I did not receiving any more sessions from any personal trainers
Fast forward to November where I look at my credit card account, which I usually do every 3-months to monitor itLA Fitness has been receiving $from me since April to October which is a total of $At first glance I thought someone stole my credit card and has been using it at LA FitnessI call my credit card company, Bank of America, and ask them to take off those chargesThey told me that they couldn’t do that because I was under a contract and that I would have to talk to the merchantI first call the gym that I go to in Chino and spoke with a lady who confirmed that my sessions did end in MarchHowever she didn’t know why I was still being chargedI then called the LA Fitness number that showed up on my BOA account (949-255-8100) and ask them what happened to my moneyThey told me that they couldn’t help me because I was calling from California and that I had to call Monday when the California branch was openI call the California branch at 949-255-on Monday to ask for my money back since I hadn’t received any of the services after March, but they said that I was under contract and they couldn’t give me my money backI told them I only had months of personal training and that was itThe lady admitted that since I did already paid for it, she would give me the seven sessions that their company owedShe said that my contract expired in November, but was willing to extend it for another months so that I could have my seven sessions
I’m unsatisfied with this business because:
I felt that I was tricked into personal training sessions
The trainer was unprofessional in asking for my credit card number via text
No one informed me that I had to personally write a letter or sign to cancel after my months were up; it seems redundant to sign a contract that says months is all I get, but apparently I had to go an extra step to end the sessions
I couldn’t get my money back; I felt they stole money from my account without me knowingI’d rather have my money back than sessions in the span of months
No one noticed that I wasn’t receiving any personal fitness training sessions all these months, and yet money was being pulled from my accountThere should be more accountability for this somehow
The personal training sessions are very pricey in general

This gym will try to scam you out of your moneyI have been price shopping for a gym in louisville and I finally negotiated a month membership deal for $total, no cancellation fee and no initiation fee, over the phoneShe said she would email me the receipt over email after I gave my card informationI asked her to email me the contract before I pay but she said that the system won't let her do thatAs soon as I gave them my credit card information they informed me that the first charge would be today for $and the next charge would be in one month for $I then asked them to add those two numbers together for me (knowing it totaled to roughly $90) and she told me the totalShe then tried to explain something about how the deal changed, at which point I told them $or nothingShe then got extremely rude at which point I said do not charge me a penny and cancel this membershipAfter that she hung up the phoneThe person I spoke with was *** and and I could tell that there was another person in the room dictating to her what to sayI assume this was her bossI just checked my card and a charge for $went throughI have contacted my credit card company and reported them for fraud

They have no respect for common decencyI had training sessions valued at almost $1,REMOVED from my accountUpon requesting that my training sessions be credited back, I was told noThey are taking advantage of my situation to pump me for more cash in training sessions by demanding I open a new contract
This is borderline fraudI have paid for a service i.e(training sessions) and they have taken them from me and are refusing to give them back
Furthermore, their cancellation policy if laughably sadisticThey require a physical piece of paper be mailed to the corporate office in CaliforniaIn this day and age, that is unreasonable

My wife and I chose to resign from an LA Fitness health club in Connecticut Up to that point, we had no major complaints about LA Fitness We resigned simply because a new YMCA had opened very close to our house and we decided to join that health club We resigned from LA Fitness in the manner that our contract indicated we should -- with a hand-delivered letter to the manager Despite our resignation, LA Fitness tried repeatedly to charge our credit card in later months -- so many times that I had to have them blocked by American Express Then, once the credit card was blocked, they began a stalking campaign where they have called our home or emailed us close to times demanding that we update our account with a credit card We told them repeatedly that we had resigned and no longer used the club It made no difference The calls and emails keep coming This seems to be a really sketchy company People should think twice about giving them credit card information

Member purchased personal training services pursuant to a written and fully executed agreement (“Agreement”)The Agreement was for a minimum initial term of months, beginning 3/29/
(the “Initial Term”)Member paid a total of $up front, which included the enrollment fee, processing fee and payment for the first month of personal training servicesHe further agreed to make more consecutive monthly payments, in the amount of $358.40, beginning 4/28/2016, for the remainder of the Initial TermThese terms are clearly outlined on page of the Agreement and he acknowledged his understanding of these billing terms by initialing three separate sections of the payment schedule section of the Agreement
His Agreement includes a voluntary cancelation provision, which affords him the option to unilaterally cancel at any time, for any reason, by paying only half of the remaining balance due under the AgreementThis provision is clearly outlined on page of the agreementIn addition, his agreement included a New Client Checklist which outlined key terms, including his acknowledgement that he received and read a copy of his personal training agreement with the initial term of months and the voluntary cancellation provision
This Checklist was reviewed with him at the time of the sale, as acknowledged by his signature and initials on the New Client Checklist (copies of the Agreement and New Client Checklist are included with this response)Thus, under the clear and explicit terms of the Agreement, member is not entitled to a refund or to terminate the Agreement and abandon his contractual obligations (which were very clearly spelled out for him and acknowledged by him) early without a fee
If member no longer wishes to continue with his valid Agreement, LA Fitness will honor the voluntary cancellation provision of the Agreement should he elect to take advantage of itOtherwise, he should be expected to honor his Agreement as LA Fitness stands ready to provide the services for which he contracted
We believe this sufficiently addresses the concerns brought forth, but please advise if we can be of further assistance

they trick you with advertisement like free VIP guest pass so that you come, only to say you don't qualify and have to purchase a $day pass or $month membership (I was only visiting for 5days)
They make up different contradicting reasons to why you can't use a free VIP guest pass and refuse to back their verbal statements with corporate policies and greatly inconvenience you in order to make an unfair salethe General manager Dan  contradicts what the website says and was very rude and condescending, he discriminated me from using the facility when I was very much eligible to use my brother's VIP guest pass according to the corporate website, the emails, and customer service over the phoneIt was very obvious he was lying because he kept making up one excuse after another and wouldn't show me where the policies were listed on paper or on website (something that should make potential customers aware if they qualify or not before coming all the way to the facility) when I asked repeatedlyHe refused and straight up told me that if I don't intend on becoming a member, then I am wasting their timeI wasted minutes arguing to let me get a *** workout in, which they did not let me in
I then went to YWCA instead and it was the fastest and simplest access as a free guest to their very nice facilityOver at YWCA they promote women and race, the staff were very nice, polite, and did not try to push any sales on me, nor did they discriminate like LA fitnessthe experience was very different
Cancel your membership with this place if you can, however, LA fitness is notorious for complicating the cancellation process on purpose

on 12-14-i went into la fitness on firestone blvd in downey, california it was about 4.30pm I no I didnot drop my wallet, when I change in locker room I check wallet in in my pants I put in locker, as well as my ring and watch, I alway make sure lock is lock, when I return to to get dress lock was still lock I open it and wallet watch and ring done and dollors, I went to staff and told them locker was broke in, they came to locker I said how did they get in lock was not snap no answer with staff, the staff went to front desk and wallet was up their empty of and ring, trying to say I drop wallet, I said the wallet in up here with the watch inside of wallet both were lock in locker, staff no commet, police came took report as of yet ive heard nothing,

I have been trying to cancel my membership as I moved out of the area due to medical and financial reasonsI submitted my request by writing twiceThey cancelled my training and now for my membership, which was paid for in full, they want me to jump through more hoops I've followed the instructions but haven't been able to get resolutionIt's only a couple hundred dollars, surely they can refund the balance unused and cancel my membershipI've done what was requested

I was a member of LA Fitness for yearsI had a year long membership contractWhen my membership was coming close to the renewal point, I decided not to renew it as I am moving and there are no LA Fitness locations around the area (the nearest one is about miles away)I had people call me and leave voice messages asking me to renewThen I was able to speak with someone when they called the 3rd timeI explained my situation and they thanked me for my timeI then got ANOTHER phone call a few days laterI explained that I JUST got a phone call and I would not be renewing as there are none in the area I am moving toI asked that I not be called againA few days after that, I had yet ANOTHER phone callI told this person the very same thingI said that this was the 5th phone call and that I am NOT renewing and I do NOT want to be called any moreI then went to work out and the person working the desk asked me if I wanted to renew and I told them the same thing that I told all of the people who called meThe day after that I got ANOTHER phone call asking me to renewBased on this, I would NEVER recommend going with this place as they do NOT respect your time and don't respect your wishes when you tell them not to call! When I emailed them to tell them what had happened, all they said was they would investigateThey didn't even apologizeThey do not care about their customers

I was treated horribly by the corporate officeThey were completely insensitive to the fact that I was pregnant and not feeling well therefore my husband and I were focused on my health without realizing that his bank account was still being automatically chargedWe eventually (after being told by a friend) froze my account because I was feeling a little better and he is now able to return to the gymWe requested a refund for the difference in the charges and were completely dismissedThe manager was very nonchalant, insensitive and not very customer friendlyHe left me feeling emotionally distraught and I am tempted to close both accounts! I was basically told that we should have stopped to call them and ask about getting the accounts frozen in the midst of worrying about my healthThe sad thing is that I like the actual facility that we go to and the representatives thereI am in disbelief that the corporate office is so insensitive

Untrained and unresponsive management-- especially "CJ" the manager
Web app for members has inoperative functions to freeze usage Support email address is inoperative
Corporate access fraudulent

Member signed a month Personal Training Contract on 8/25/*** *** acknowledges signing the agreement for Personal Training services and now asks that LA Fitness
relieve him of his obligation to the remaining term of his agreement because of his current financial circumstance
For this reason, the Contract allows for a voluntary cancelation at any time, for any reason, by paying only half of the remaining balance due at the time of cancelling (“termination fee”)This provision is clearly outlined on page of the agreementThese key terms were not only in the Contract, but also in the New Client Checklist in which he also acknowledged that he received and read a copy of his personal training ContractThis Checklist was reviewed with him at the time of the sale, as acknowledged by his signature and initials on the Checklist (copies of the Agreement and New Client Checklist are included with this response). Thus, under the clear and explicit terms of the Agreement, member is not entitled to terminate the Agreement and abandon his contractual obligations without a fee
Nevertheless, LA Fitness relieved member of his obligation to the remaining agreement term and waived the standard early termination fee, which would have been half of the remaining agreement balancePlease note that we were not contractually obligated to provide this remedy, but this was done as a customer service consideration for our member
We believe this resolves the matter, but please advise if we can be of further assistance

The experience I have had with LA Fitness has literally been one of the worst ones with any business I have ever been toMy husband was told he was able to cancel the account I had with them back in November I then come to find out weeks ago on 7/1/due to a collection phone call from LA Fitness that the account was never cancelled as requested and they had been billing me each month for an account I didn't think I hadOn 7/I called them to resolve this issue and was informed rudely by a Lisa A*** that I cannot cancel my account through my husband and they have no records of this interaction ever occuringPer this person I was not able to get my money back for all those months wasted, but they would cancel my account while I was on the phone and write off the "balance owed" for the current monthKeeping in mind the only reason they ever contacted me in the first place, was because we cancelled the credit card they had been charging and got a new one due to other reasons outside of thisI was already very unhappy they wouldn't refund the money that they had taken wrongfully, but I accepted the fact that I wouldn't be able to do anything about that and cancelled my account with Lisa A***Since 7/7/I have received 2-phone calls daily informing me that I owe money and asking for my new credit card informationEach time I have answered and told whomever I speak with that I cancelled my accountAfter the 10th phone call I contacted customer service management on 7/14/and spoke with an Ed, who informed me that it takes days to cancel an account and clear a balanceI informed him that this day made it day He rudely said I am required to wait, but that he will put a note in my account not to call meSeveral day passed and then I began getting collection calls again today 7/18/I also noticed that they had attempted to charge the card that was cancelled as my husband received an email showing thatI have received calls so far today plus their failed attempt at charging my cardI am livid and am feeling harassedI called yet again and spoke with WilliamHe was the first polite person I have talked to this entire timeHe stated he saw that my account was cancelled and the balance was waivedI asked then why I am still getting phone callsHe stated I had to wait for him to put a request in for me to find out what was going onI refused and had him keep me on the line to confirm he had removed my phone number and credit card from the fileAfter being put on hold he stated that he was able to remove the phone number, but not the credit cardHe then stated that I have to wait for that to be approved by someone in the accounts department (I thought I was speaking to someone in that department???) At this point I believe someone should take actionI lost months of money because they didn't cancel when I originally put the request inNow I am being harassed and getting attempted charges to my card for balances I was promised would be waivedI am shocked that they are able to do business this wayTo be frank I switched memberships to hour fitness back in November 2015, due to the state the LA Fitness gym was in where I worked outIt was messy, dirty and the staff was rudeNow I see their gym is not the only problem they haveI strongly suggest people avoid them at ALL costsIf you plan on cancelling your account, be sure to get it in writing and be prepared to deal with harassment for weeks afterLA Fitness is the WORST gym anyone could ever sign up to and I plan on spreading to word to everyone I know

The gym equipment is very old and rustyMost equipment is falling apartBathrooms are consistently in poor condition and the air quality is poorAs a member of la fitness for over years, this is the the poorest looking gym for what I pay for

I have never been so appalled at the lack of customer service or the treatment as a customer in my life with any business! We just signed up and paid $for the initiation fees and first two months and have been to the gym five timesWe have not been able to enjoy the services we signed up for and we have complained every visit and been told that nothing can be doneWe have contacted corporate on two occasions and been told we can cancel membership but will not receive a refundNow that is some good business practice , they can sucker you in, take your money, give you a bad experience, then cancel your membership and if they do that to enough people they are constantly making money and do not even need to deal with people! This place of business and their practices and customer service is THE WORST I have ever encountered and anyone that is even considering this gym should look elsewhereWe are an older couple and were lied to when we signed up, then treated with no respect when we complained! I am seeking information on a class action lawsuit next!

Why this company has an A- rating is beyond meI give them an F- I joined thru silver sneakers and my wife and I decided to have a trainer help usThat is where all the trouble startedI was told that I could sign up for three months and chose any trainer that I wantedI was assigned a trainer who in turn was let goWhen I tried to request another trainer I was told he was a master trainer and that would cost me more? The classic bate and switchSo I asked if I could have this trainer for what I am now payingWithout naming names I was told noI am retired and on a fixed incomeI never received a written contract the one sent to me was blankSo I had no clue that they had changed the contract on me which said I would be responsible for months and if I wanted to back out it would cost me 50% of the total price to back outI was told verbally that I had amonth contract and I watched them key that inAlong with a statement that I could have any trainerAs a mater of fact I was first assigned a master trainer and they switched it on meA verbal contract with a witness and a blank contract along with lies and deceitI sent in my cancellation forms I plan on contacting Ut health along with silver sneakers and let them know how I was treated at la fitness

I have been a member at LA Fitness for years and my daughter who is 1/has been attending their kids club for yearsThe past two months she has been the target of two bullies who are & and both boysI have seen them try to take her necklace off of her, growl at her, call her the devil child and try to stab a LA Fitness caregiverI have called the corporate office and made two complaints to themSadly enough after incidents they will not revoke their kidsclub membership therefore leaving me no choice but to end my membership with themAfter the 4th complaint and seeing them back at the gym I addressed it with the manager on site and he said, "has there been any more incidents?" Guess they are waiting for someone to break a neck or really get stabbed

I have never in my life went through so much hassle, dealt with such untrustworthy people, and wasted so much of my valuable time with a company beforeLA Fitness should be Shut Down and deemed unethicalThey will lie and scam you out of your money and trick you with wordage and lies Even after I have cancelled two months later they are STILL billing my credit cardI have been trying for weeks to get my money back and every rep I speak with tells me the previous rep didn't complete the requestJust a bunch of BS for this company to keep hardworking people's moneyI will continue spreading the word about this deceitful company to everyone I know
