I joined as a member, as well as paid for months of training sessionstotally over $per month my last month was nothing but pure stress and hell! Operations didn't clear my payment, even after I sent in proof of payment from my bank They humiliated me in front of other patrons, accusing me of lying about my payments, harassed me via phone calls asking for payment, refused to continue training because they said my account was not to date I spent better part of each day dealing with head office for a resolutiononce person even hanging up on mesaying I had to bring in my statement in person, after I sent them a copy of my statement showing money was paid!
it was the most stressful, humiliating, unprofessional establishment I've ever had to deal with! absolute crooks and liars!!
NEVER DEAL WITH THIS ORGANIZATION!! incompetent and unprofessional!

I have had gym memberships at hour fitness and UFC Gym, they were great! Last year I joined LA Fitness and it was the worst customer service everI tried to cancel my membership, and the location (Chula Vista {otay ranch}, CA) as well as the corporate office gave me the run aroundI went in to cancel, the front desk tells me I have to give the paperwork to the manager directlyI call corporate to cancel, they tell me I have to go in to my location or do it by mailI mail it in, they conveniently never received my cancellation formsI set an appointment with the manager - she has me waiting minutes while she is "on a phone call"The front desk finally says she will take my cancellation forms (wait, why couldn't I do that in the first place?)I call the manager a few days later and she confirms over the phone she received the forms and cancelled my membership but it will be charged for another months because of a day notice policyI get an email confirming the cancellationmonths later I am STILL BEING BILLEDI call the manager (Marcy) she has no record of me cancellingI call corporate and talk to *** and she says its concerning that I am just now calling about thisI reply, Ummm whats concerning is that after all this your company STILL hasn't cancelled my membership! I asked to speak to her supervisor and she replied that she "has no supervisor or boss"Just google it, LA Fitness has SEVERAL lawsuits across different states for charging accounts continuously after the membership is cancelled

Member’s personal training agreement also includes a provision that allows her to terminate the agreement early without a fee if she becomes disabled and is unable to receive the benefits of the serviceHowever, our
records do not reflect that she has provided verification of such a disabilityHowever, as of the time of this response, member has disputed the payments with her bank and defaulted on the agreement term
Since it is apparent that she now has no intention to fulfill her contractual obligation to the remaining personal training agreement term, we have released her from this obligation to make the remaining payments due under her agreement. Additionally, LA Fitness will not pursue her for the outstanding balance she currently owesPlease note that we are not contractually obligated to provide this remedy, but this is being done as a customer service consideration for our member

I have been with La fitness since 2009.The north brunswick location pool is alaways brioken and kept badly.I want my dues back because I joined mainly for the pool..They keep it bad

After cancelling my gym membership, I began receiving incessant phone calls a month later claiming I owed them moneyI told the first five calls (from random numbers which looked like spam) the situation and that I had cancelled my membershipThey said that they would make a note and not call backBut the calls kept coming, four-five times a day, all from different numbers, and despite asking repeatedly to make notes in their system, LA Fitness kept calling
I escalated the latest call (3/28/2016) to the "manager" and he told me everything would be cancelled and taken care ofThen I receive an email with a form that I have to PRINT OUT and MAIL IN in order to cancel my membershipWhat kind of scam operation is this?!
Horrible, horrible companyThey have wasted my time and harassed me nonstop

LA Fitness is not what I would classify as professional or business friendlyI initially signed up for a month to month single membershipAs part of their package, I receive a free personal training assessmentI did and decided it would be beneficial to a healthier meI sat down to discuss, they wanted to do months at $300/mThe price was high and I only wanted monthsThe manager told me to let him contact his supervisorHe calls, and the supervisor is put on speakerphoneThe guy tells me that he can work some "magic" on his endI agree and pay my first month $200/m, plus a $initiationI set my appointment for the next weekI show and no one is aware of my appointmentThe staff offers to rescheduleI reschedule for the following weekI show up and wait for minutes for my trainer to be tracked downWe go through the workout and schedule for the next weekI show up and I wait for about minutes for my trainer to show upWe workoutI schedule for the following weekI show up, the trainer is a no showI reschedule for the next weekI show up, the trainer is a no show, but there is another trainer that substitutesHe schedules me for the next week with my assigned trainerI show up and the trainer is a no showI am then told by the store manager that the Regional VP will be calling me to resolve the issue, as they are unable to facilitate my needsI waited weeksNothingI call this location and request to speak with the managerI am informed again that the Regional VP would be in contact with me within the next dayI waited days and called backI was then given the cell number of the said Regional VP and his nameHis name was DanI reach out to Dan several times, leaving messages each timeThis goes on for weeksI hear nothingI contact the corporate number to speak with someone above DanI am informed that someone would be reaching out to me within the next dayDan appears with a phone call at this point, on the basis of my call to corporateTo be honest Dan had proven his incompetence at this point and I had no desire to speak with himThough, I proceeded to hear what Dan had to sayHe informs me that they would offer me a 50% buyout on the remainder of my contractI declinedAs at this point I have continuously paid $200/m, as I await for a responsible partyI explained that they had already void their own contractThey had also not responded within a legal timely mannerI asked that they cease billing immediately, and informed him that I would continue my membership if they were properBy this point things had been soured of personal training through themMy goal for personal training was structure and accountability, someone to drive and push meThat was something they were unable to provide, and the store manager admittedDan informed me, that they would not cease billingI requested to speak with his superiorHe informed me that they would reach out to meIt has now been monthsNo contactI called corporate today, and was told again that someone would be in touchAt this point I will be seeking restitution, making report on the brandI should have read the Revdex.com reports prior to choosing LA FitnessThey have many bad reviews, with several that relate

My sister and I joined the Austell/East West connecter LA Fitness location last AprilMy sister, Amy Henderson, wanted to work out on weights and although she could have joined somewhere less expensive, I talked her into joining your club so that we could work out together I have done water exercise and jogging for over years beginning in for physical therapy We chose your club because I needed a heated pool, not a therapy pool, just a heated pool
I worked out for hours at a time when I first began to go Even in the very beginning I noticed the pool was seldom the 82/degrees it was supposed to be This confused me since this is a brand new facility Months later I am really irritated Fully percent of the time, the heater for your pool and hot tub have been broken when I have gone to work out
Sometimes I just turn around without ever checking in, because I see the note on the hot tub Everyone in the pool complains about it We’ve complained to management ad nauseam! We’ve complained to managers, sales people, each other…anyone that would listenThis is an inconvenience to me and irritating because I have physical problems that make it necessary to work out in the water I pay my membership regularly, and you regularly have broken equipment It cannot be legal to carry on business as a warm, indoor pool when it consistently IS NOT!
Surely, you must wonder why people are not bringing in new members? The one time I got a weeks pass for a friend, the heater was broken and the pool was cold Really?
I’m not sure what the problem is It may be that people are not qualified to run the pool My guess is that someone took a low bid from a contractor who put it a heater that was too small for your pool
Now, I’m not an expert on heated pools However, let me just tell you that for over years I worked out at North Colorado Physical Therapy in Greeley, Colorado They have a facility that is connected to a gym and offices for Physical Therapists The pool is the same size as yours and I NEVER went to the pool and had to swim in a cold pool because the heater wasn’t working…years, ok? When I moved back to
Georgia years, I looked for a facility with a heated pool So, when you opened, I was thrilled Now, I am not thrilled anymore I want my dues back You have voided this contract by long term refusal to repair the pool
I have purchased a monthly membership at the South Cobb Aquatic Center in Austell They have a larger, warmer pool with no history of breakdowns This is a government run facility If the government can keep a pool heated, you certainly should be able to

DO NOT EVER SIGN UP AT THIS GYM!!!!!!!!!!! Avoid at all costs When discussing personal training programsThe gym is fine, but NEVER and I mean NEVER sign up for personal training The staff promise and lie to you to get you to sign a contract that you will be stuck with for a full year, They provide *** poor quality service (I had to wait well over a week on multiple occasions to book a training session) as well has have had several no shows and one one occasion I had to wait 30-minutes for my training to finish training someone else, even tho we had scheduled a specific time
They lied to me about how the contract works (you're locked in for a year unless you pay your remaining balance to get out) and on top of that they illegally changed the contract on me(The original copy I have in my email does not match the one they have shown me in person at the gym once I started to complain)

Terrible gym Lockers are Constantly opened by staff while you work out and your money is stolenManagement knows and does nothing about it and corporate offices just redirect you to management La fitness in Lake success/new Hyde Park area is by far the worst with its criminal acts of theft The manager, Dave avoids my phone calls and refuses to helpI caught there worker stealing money from my wallet in my lockerI will be filing a police report and pressing charges tomorrow

My experience with LA Fitness in Johns Creek, GA from the beginning has been bogusI get a different gentleman than the person that I spoke to over the phoneGet a different price quotedThen I was told that "this location is not hours but some of the others ones maybe"I try one on Peachtree Industrial and the customer service is horribleThe cleanup crew is way more professional than the service and sales peopleI make an attempt to place my account on hold, and was told that I would only get charged $per personCome to find outI am charged for the hold month due to the hold not being effective until the following monthWhen Another charge occursThey give me a horrible time to cancel when I was told that anyone can cancel my accountWhen making that attempt I find out that is not the caseAn Operations manager is the only one who can CancelNow I have two months paid that I can't use, and the location refuse to refund the month charged during the hold

I developed hearing problems from the loud music in my step class I had previously complained to the instructor on the loudness of the music and her talk on the mic but she just disregarded it After several weeks I developed tinnitus and the ENT said it was a result of exposure to loud music I called management to complain about the class and instructor and the manager was very dismissive and he actually said he was very busy and ended up hanging up on me I called again and the front desk staff picked up the phone and he also hang up on me saying he was too busy and that everyone was busy No one picks up the phone there either Finally I called the corporate office and they too had did not seem to have the decency or compassion in dealing with me I have never seen anything like this Completely unprofessional and hostile

My complaint is for LA fitness Marcus Ave, New Hyde Park, NY and LA fitness ManagementBoth facilities were not helpful at allI am very dissatisfied with the service and how they handled the situationLast week I canceled my gym membership and training sessionsYesterday I received an email from LA fitness informing me that my training sessions has been canceled but I will still be charged $per month until the last bill due date June 28, I personally went to LA fitness New Hyde Park to address this to management of the training department*** said if I didn't want to pay the $per month I had to buy out 50% of the training sessionsSo I did and it cost me $with available sessionsMy reasons for discontinuing LA fitness all completely was due to relocating and living elsewhereMy friend and I shared the training sessions from the beginning we signed up until this pointShe also is a member of LA fitnessWhen we first signed up we were told the training sessions could only be in one persons accountWe requested to have a join account for the trainingThey refused to grant our request and said it could only be under one of our accounts but that we could still share the training sessionsNow that my membership and training sessions are officially canceledI contacted LA fitness New Hyde Park to speak with the manager of the training department, *** to see what he could do and see if there was a solutionHe wasn't available and I was told to call in an hourAn hour passed and was told he was busy on the phoneI asked if he could call me back and instead was told to call LA fitness management services insteadIt seemed like no one wanted to assist meI wanted to know if it were at all possible to transfer the remaining available sessions that were already paid for to my friends accountWhen I spoke with *** she was not helpful at all and said there was nothing that could be doneBecause the training sessions were under my nameI had no authorization to give my sessions to my friend who was paying for these sessions as wellShe also informed me that if her account was joined with mine for the training sessions then they could transfer the sessions on to herIt was infuriating to find out that I was misinformed by LA fitness New Hyde ParkThey could have joined our accounts together but lied and said it was not possible to join our accounts for the sessionsYet they allowed us to train together all this timeAs for management services they didn't care if I spend $and they did not care if the available sessions are a great lossI demanded a refund for the last paid 1/months sessions because I wasn't going to use the sessions since I canceled and I'm moving awayThey refused to give me a refundSo no refund, no transferringThey don't consider that I paid so much moneyI do not recommend for any one to sign up for training sessionsThey are not clear about their policy and misinform their membersOver priced training sessionsAs a former member to LA fitness this will be the last time I ever invest my money in your facility

I came to LA Fitness for their "free trial" when comparing gymsI intended to use my full trial period to make a decisionHowever, the employees are trained to not take no for an answerThey use dirty sales tricks and pressure worse than car salesmenThey got me to sign up and I went home feeling tricked and upset with myselfThis is NOT how a gym should make you feel
But the good news is you get a "free" day with a trainer right? WRONG Welcome to another day feeling like a slimy car salesman is trying to trick you into hiring a personal trainerI had to say "no" for FIFTEEN straight minutes just to leave the gymThey take advantage of good people that don't handle pressure well
But you can easily cancel your contract right? WRONGI signed in online to cancel it since I'll be moving soonIt is IMPOSSIBLE to do it onlineSo I went to the actual location and asked to cancel itThey emailed me a form that I have to print and fill out and mail into headquartersBy the time my envelope gets there, I will be charged for an extra monthLA fitness having to use this many cheap tactics and tricks just to try to get people to go there really says something about their facility and staffingUnbelievableI am extremely unsatisfied and would NEVEREVERgive this gym another dollar
A side note: LA Fitness is also priced 33% higher than gyms I have exercised in with the same or better equipment

Buyer Beware! Equipment is not maintained and often broken for months on end I was injured by a piece of malfunctioning cardio equipment - attempted to contact corporate to express my concerns and was ignored Local staff are not empowered to take action and are just told to sell, sell, sell

The upper management of this company seems to feel they are above their customers and do not believe they should reconcile with them when they have grievancesI called several times to the corporate office to speak with management about their reduced hours preventing me from working out, and it falls on deaf earsI asked for a follow up and have never received a callThe last phone call I made I was told that my money was not good enough for the management team's timeThis business deserves to loose the members that it is loosing

Poor excuse of a gym
I was there attempting to use a 5-day guest pass and claimed that I was leaving the country next week to see how they would react since I already belong to another gymBut since I exercise a lot, some friends asked me to review the gym
They denied my access to the club for days since "I won't be there" next week
I'm not leaving to anywhereJust wanted to see how the management here works and it's pretty bad
I'm not sure how the other LA fitnesses are; but this new one in Stratford won't go far to help you with anything since all they do is work in commissionGo to a small gym or a cheaper one; at least they will treat you with human dignity

I went into the Midway, St Paul (MN) club and spoke with the operations manager (***) on Friday, August 1st, at approximately 3:PM to cancel my membership He stated that it would be canceled, I had paid my first last month’s dues when I signed up and my last day to use the facilities would be 9/5/
I kept getting billed and the club never actually submitted my cancellation for processing I called today and asked if they could look into my account and was told it was still listed as active *** told me he gets a lot of people that call in and try to say they cancelled their membership when they really haven’t and there was nothing he could do for me
I’m not asking for a refund or here to complain I simply wanted to bring this story to your attention because I feel deceived and betrayed as a consumer I once respected this company and enjoyed being a member $isn’t the end of the world for me and I’ll pay it, but it would be nice for LAF’s employees to follow through and actually submit the cancellation request instead of just brush it aside and say there’s no way to prove they received it
I'm sure there are plenty of similar stories floating around out there, some with merit and others entirely without My mistake was not asking for a "receipt" of sorts from the OM when I went in to cancel My mistake was placing an ounce of trust into this company's commission-based managers
Truth is I enjoyed my time working out at these clubs Even after having my wallet stolen a few months ago and having thousands of dollars of charges on my credit cards, I still enjoyed the place Not so much anymore

I have been an active member of Lifetime Fitness and was willing to give LA Fitness a try due to their lower pricesI tried, tries total, to give this company the benefit of the doubt at two different locationsEach time they failed miserably at several important things which I outline below

My friend gave me a free pass to use and it was my first time EVER stepping foot in this company's gymThey refused to honor the free, valid pass for absolutely no reason other than they wanted to charge me $to walk in and work out with a current memberI reluctantly paid it since I was already there, even though I ALREADY have a $60/mo membership at Lifetime Fitness, Canton, MI, AND a free membership at my U of M Gym, which is very very nice as wellWhen I finished the workout after about an hour in the terribly-lit gym inside Fairlane Mall, I was asked to take a moment to speak with a member rep about their promotionsI said "sure, why not?" THAT WAS THE WORST MISTAKE EVERAccepting that resulted in wasting almost a full hour with the rep stating why Lifetime Fitness sucks (not true in any way), why I need to get their membership RIGHT NOW, and how I'm basically stupid if I don't sign up with them"NO" is not a valid answer with their terrible and unprofessional sales staff at both locationsThe next location's review I'm about to post is even better!

I don't even know where to start because I get angry every time I think about this company, so I'll start at the beginning
* VISIT no- not really any hard salesIt was a one-day pass that was actually honored (can you believe that??)The cleaning staff is a jokeYou're in the middle of working out and they walk up to you in the middle of your reps doing free-weights to sweep or mop right under your feetAre you kidding me? I've never experienced something so obnoxious at any Gym - not at Lifetime, Gold's, Summit, Powerhouse, of U of M where I've been a member of in the pastTERRIBLEThe lockers were also littered with random crap everywhere making it feel unclean and not tidy at all
* VISIT no- I had a 1-week pass from my best friendThis pass expired at the end of the month and had almost weeks until that period was upThe problem here resided with the infamous *** head of "sales" personThis guy is a total jokeHe denied the pass when he asked if I came here ever before, I said yes, months agoThe pass CLEARLY said you cannot use it if it has been less than months since you used a pass previouslyHe then proceeded to lie that the pass actually isn't valid and somehow magically expired "yesterday," even though the pass clearly stated until the 31st of the month (it was the ~16th)My friend and myself pointed this out and he simply said "no, the dates don't matter on what's printed." Next, he proceeded to tell me "SEE I CAUGHT YOU! THE SYSTEM ALWAYS CATCHES YOU!" Caught me that I came here months ago? I already told you thatThis guy was so rude and unprofessional...and it gets betterI told him I am a member with the girlfriend in a joint-membership at LifetimeHe then spent at least minutes bashing Lifetime fitness and how much they such and LAF is "so much better." What kind of company slanders so blatantly another company for hard sales? Benefits of LAF over Lifetime weren't even presented - they are literally none - just that he hates Lifetime and any of their competitionNext, this clown proceeded to tell me that he's not going to let me in, because he makes over $100,a year selling memberships and "if he let me in and everyone in, he wouldn't make that money." That's a joke, right? This guy doesn't make that and I feel bad for anyone who fell for his ploy and actually joined with himLastly, and this is the worst of all - he told me to join and "forget about my girlfriendShe can get her own membership if she wantsSign up right now with me and you can work out today." I said "I need to discuss it with her...this location is miles further away for her than Lifetime" to which he states "people who are married divorce all the time and she's just your girlfriendJust get a membership and forget about her." I literally was in awe that this "professional" would talk to and treat people like thisI angrily said no and stood upHe then said he would let me in for the day only but not honor the pass
I've never experienced such rude and offensive sales staff anywhere in my life
In addition, a couple of other mutual friends have tried going to this location and had to deal with this *** character and NO ONE has signed up with him because of how rude and offensive this guy is
