Regarding LA Fitness Sachse,TX:

LA Fitness business practices ruin it all. Take any contract they put in front of you home and read over it 3 times because they will tell you half-truths and almost everything to get you to sign it right then and there. There's always some "deal" you'll miss if you don't sign it right away, but here's the real DEAL.

I was told verbally I could cancel a contract (personal trainer) anytime I wanted. They pushed it onto me when I was just trying to get a regular membership. The guy signing me up was a trainer and I felt I could learn a thing or two before cancelling. Help him out maybe. The rest of this half-truth is that you have to pay 50% to cancel your personal training contract. $50 (cheapest) * 52weeks = 2800ish / 2 = $1900 TO CANCEL. Apparently these used to be good-will contracts! I guess they phased out good will~! When I went to the "Member Service Manager", Caroline W., she went into robot-mode saying, "Well you signed a contract!" Yeah, I signed a contract on your TabletPC application that's designed to make signing easy and quick with a sense of goodwill. Then she started telling half-truths, maybe even some lies. For instance, that my friend wasn't able to cancel his when he had an email saying he had. All of this with what I felt was a snide and condescending attitude: Almost a "Haha, you fell for it" attitude.

I've learned many lessens from this ordeal, so I got that going.

I found the staff at the Midway location to be very rude. I came to buy a guest pass because I've been considering moving my membership here from another gym. I currently pay MORE at another gym that I have to drive A GREATER DISTANCE to get to and have done so for years. The people at the front desk made it as difficult as possible for me to spend my money there to the extent that I changed my mind and walked out after they actually used the "F" word in conversation and told me that I didn't look like I was in the mood to work out anyway. As much as I'd love to be able to work out with my significant other, I wasn't made to feel like a wanted customer in any shape form or fashion. I certainly hope other locations aren't managed so poorly. I know I as a business owner would not want these types of individuals representing my company.

Joined LA Fitness in early 2015. Contract involved no fee for joining since the facility was just opening up, $29.95 per month, allowed for termination at any time. Joined expressly to take the tues/thurs morning aqua class and was promised there would be Zumba classes during daytime hours as soon as they could hire an instructor. Zumba classes were not forthcoming. Morning Aqua classes were terminated due to instructor going back to school in June and no replacement was found so I was planning on terminating when I got back from vacation.
Was notified 9/20 by email that payment had been declined by my credit card (which had been hacked, everything was frozen). I called LA Fitness and was told that I HAD to provide them with a new credit card number to keep my membership even though first/last month had been paid for. I told them I wanted to cancel, LA Fitness said I was paid up through 10/20 and they'd send me an email form to fill out to cancel. Got 3 phone calls insisting on a cc for payment, all 3 promised an email form yet I received no emails except the original one stating cc had been declined. When I went in in person, was first told that I could not cancel my membership without paying for another month, and then was told that my membership would end that day (9/24) even though my membership was already paid until 10/20. Basically, LA Fitness kept my last month's payment since I had been out of town and not used the facility at all since July. I was made to feel like a deadbeat even though I had paid in advance and that advance payment was taken when they canceled my membership.
Buyer Beware. Although $29.95 is not much money, I worked for it and it was mine and I believe that it has been misappropriated by LA Fitness. I will tell everyone I know of my bad experience. My advice: DO NOT do business with these people.

Research your LA Fitness Club before you sign!!!
1. No privacy in locker room! Cell phones with cameras allowed. No enforcement.
Be prepared to shower at home.
2. In Arizona no local sports. Infomercials 24/7 and lousy TV channels.
Good ear buds are a must.
3. Not an adult club: mommy can dump teenagers.
4. Over-sold memberships: hard to get a good machine at peak hours. I am retired so I can work-out when no crowds.
5. Annoying phone calls and pressure at club to buy personal trainer. I am senior citizen working out for past 50 years.
6. No towels supplied, bring your own, hot sweaty people never clean machine after use. Hell in flu season.
7. Lots of sales people standing around talking, while I offer to help people with disabilities.

LA fitness has been without a doubt one of the worst organizations I've ever done business with. Upon learning that LA fitness has everything to do with sales and nothing to do with health I got out of there ASAP. I then found out that the cancellation process is absolutely ridiculous. I was told that I could not cancel unless I spoke with a lead manager and it had to be in person, M-F 8am to 5pm. I complied and showed up around 1PM on my lunch break and then was told no manager could help me because apparently one was there. They then insisted that I get charged for the next month and claimed that I could get it charged back after canceling which did not happen. It's no wonder LA fitness gyms are dropping like flies around my area. Not to mention, I gave them a second chance even after the first time I signed up, the associate was visibley laughing at me for being a transgender person. All in all, LA fitness is a non-sustainable money hungry piece of [redacted] company that will eventually fail. Don't get a gym membership here. You're much better off at a more private local gym.

LOVE this gym but was disrespected so badly yesterday by one of the trainers "[redacted]" I was in the corner on a mat he wanted to use the bench (which there were 2 empty ones) picked up my mat & tossed it to the side out of his way. I laughed and got my weights and walked across the room. From the other side of the room he screamed "IS THERE A PROBLEM" with his hands out like he wanted to fight me. I didn't even respond just continued my work order. I explained the situation to the manager he said he would speak to him. As I was walking out of the gym he approached me AGAIN to confront and ask me what my problem was. I refuse to be disrespected and intimidated by an egotistic trainer. He made me so uncomfortable that after this month I will no longer be working out at LA and cancel my contract. He shouldn't be allowed to work with people period. Any man that has that much of a lack of respect for women should work in that type of setting. HE DID ALL OF THIS IN FRONT OF THE POOR MAN HE WAS TRAINING. He's a disgrace to this gym and as a man. Shame because everyone else there are good people.

Management tried to reach member regarding complaint no response. Management as a courtesy agreed to waive balance of $32.09 and adjusted cancellation expiration date to 10-22-2016.
If member wishes to discuss further, we...

encourage her to contact local club. We believe this matter to be resolved. Thank you.

I am an older female who uses the gym daily at LA Fitness on N. First Avenue in Tucson. I have a problem with businesses that like LA Fitness, hire ‘millennials’ –overaged-adolescent workers who they don’t train in respectful demeanor toward customers. The LAF gym I attend has altogether too many paid staff who think that arguing with a customer is acceptable (‘Hey, don’t blame me! Don’t rate on me! I didn’t do nothing’ – that 12-year-old-going-on 8-year-old sort of merde that ‘millennials’ think is appropriate language in addressing paying customers.) I have been having a problem at the gym with a tubby young man, not a member of the gym but a pest, who hangs around at the exit. He does what might be called ‘aggressive panhandling’ – actually went so far as to knock on my driver-side car window when I would not respond to his demands for attention – he has bothered me twice in the past ten days when I have tried to exit the gym and enter the parking lot to get in my car. I notice that LA Fitness staff act like they could care less. Today, August 16, one of their adolescent ‘millennial’ staff member argued with me when I asked for assistance – this ‘millennial’ did not answer me when I demanded, ‘Why don’t you call the police?’ I could not exit the building with the creep waiting right in front of the doors making faces at me, shouting at me and trying to waylay me. If LA Fitness does not want to deal with this problem of aggressive bums hanging around on site, then let them deal with this negative review.

I am a powerlifter, I've been going to la fitness in Oviedo for a very long time. Recently the GM there does not like me. For no reason, I have done nothing to him. When I do a deadlift with really heavy weights I go down with the bar as slow as I can, I don't slam. Doing so with 500lbs is not easy and still makes noise. I do my dead lifts and squats without shoes so I have good balance and not mess up my lower back or knees in any way. As a gym and as a gym GM you must understand this. How can you run a gym and know nothing about fitness? And do they not understand safety? That's fraud. So he told me if I do it again with no shoes and make noise I will get kicked out for good. And I tried explaining its hard not to make noise with that much weight or I'll snap my back. He replies "I don't care about your back". By the way his name is MITCH. I respect and follow the rules at that gym but I will not snap my back for someone that's ignorant when it comes to fitness and doesn't understand the process and care about my safety there. Especially that I compete I cannot get injured. I don't slam weights and never have. There are other people that slam weights there and he never said anything to them because they are his friends and let's them do whatever they want. He even videos them slamming weights. When I do light weight on deadlift I never make noise because I can control putting down the weight without hurting my back. I can't do that with 500lbs. He needs to be talked to and he needs to show respect and not tell members like me he doesn't care about their safety. I pay 40 a month. I should at least get respect from the GM, the face of the company. This is very disappointing.

I've had 10 calls per day over the last two weeks to my phone number. I told the employee that actually employees every time they call the date in which I will pay it and they continue to call my number I am no longer receiving your calls and I request a season a cyst on your company immediately I have already asked of this and they are refused to do so I just received two calls today back-to-back not to mention the two calls this morning back to back. I told that I am trying to work and I cannot have these phone calls.

I have been a member with LA Fitness since 2012, payed my membership on time regardless of of my gym attendance. unfortunately fell into some hard times in the last 3 months, called LA fitness to pay for lost time (Balance was 60.00 only) after 4 years of non late payments. payed 32.00 out of the 60.00 to ensure the reinstatement of my monthly dues considering I have been loyal to the company and fulfilled my contract, I would think that they would extend a first time courtesy and allow me a to continue with the membership or start a new membership with the same monthly payments, But they declined, the agent stated may it seem that loosing my business was no big deal, that the system is what it is? That makes no sense, why would a business prefer to loose more years of business for a 32.00 balance, in which I was willing to pay for to continue with the membership? I even expressed that this negative review would take place, this did not even matter to her. She didn't even offer an opportunity to speak with her leaders to see if something to be resolved. She just kept saying the system doesn't allow me. Where is the customer service and the loyalty to the loyal customers? I called 949-255-7200 at 8:14pm on 11/29.

Had a terrible experience trying to cancel my account with LA fitness. Everything I tried failed - and I kept getting calls over and over. Each time I explained that I had cancelled my account they told me to do what I had already done - or drive to LA Fitness and cancel in person. Ridiculous. I finally searched online and found this to be a common tactic - customer unable to cancel their accounts, while LA Fitness continued to charge monthly payments and add on additional fees/fines. It seems the only way to cancel account is to block recurring charges and block recurring phone numbers.

Our District Vice President contacted [redacted] to discuss his concerns.  As a customer service accommodation, he agreed with [redacted] to...

essentially change his contract to a 6-month term, instead of 12 months, while honoring the lower per session rate that is available based on a member’s 12-month commitment.  Accordingly, after member’s billing on 2/19/2017, should he elect to cancel, he will need to request such a cancellation and we will honor it at no additional cost. Our District Vice President provided him with both his email and phone number for direct contact.
Additionally, if member no longer wishes to continue with his valid Agreement prior to that date, LA Fitness will honor the voluntary cancellation provision of the Agreement should he elect to take advantage of it.
We believe this to be a fair and reasonable resolution to this issue.

Our company has been attempting to provide our employees with discounted gym memberships with LA Fitness for over a year now, with no success. We initially spoke with Louis P. who I believe is the Regional Sales person for our area, and he directed worked with Ray M., LA Fitness Sales Rep. It was like pulling teeth to get Ray to respond to our voicemails and we received reports back from employees trying to enroll who said they never got return calls from Ray either. Several months later, we decided to try again to provide a corporate discount and called the Customer Service phone number to request to be assigned to a new sales person because we did not want to deal with Louis P or Ray M again. Rather than receiving a call back from Customer Service, I got phone calls from two different local LA Fitness gym managers saying they could help us. We were very confused to find out that the Customer Service person had contacted Louis P despite our concerns, and he didn’t even call us directly, he just had the managers call. We were then told that our Corporate discount had expired and we would need to go through the process to provide one again, which we did. We distributed the new discount information to our employees and a new employee went the following month to enroll and was told that LA Fitness could no longer honor the discount since the new one had expired. We discovered, much to our dismay, that the discount that was offered to our company was only good for 30 days. That employee was subsequently charged even more money for a membership than was currently being offered on the website. Since then, we have called Customer Service several times in order to escalate our concern and was told that we would be provided with a phone number to the appropriate Vice President to speak to. We have never received a call back from Customer Service despite multiple voicemails left.
We are appalled at the lack of professionalism displayed by the employees representing LA Fitness especially since we are trying to build a relationship in order to provide LA Fitness with more business.

LA Fitness is very misleading on their contracts. I suggest never signing a contract with them since they lie to get that signature. They also do not do any of the things they were suppose to do with personal training, and documented visits with trainor that were never made. They are rude and they do not help the consumer resolve issue timely

I have had a membership for almost a year. but not using it I decided to cancel it, thinking I did back In march I hit cancel membership online and went on my way( not knowing that you cant cancel it online without filling out a form ( mind you that does not print from their website) or by going in to the location its self.it wasn't until just this past week 5 months later that I looked over my bank account I saw I was still being charged. I was mad I went back online and then called them the manager told me that I needed to fill out the form and mail it in or go in to the gym, THAT WAS A SUPRISE TO ME! I emailed them to ask for my money back for the last 5 months and they said we cant do that. So now I want people to know that they have to go in to the gym to cancel their membership and not be scammed.

I opened a membership with LA Fitness in June 2015. After a couple of months, I began receiving medical treatment which prevented me from coming into the facility. I received a courtesy call from an employee who saw I was not coming in regularly. After telling him I had medical issues, we ended the call. After months of inactivity, in March 2016, I went online to cancel my membership. I noticed an option to "suspend my membership" that had not been conveyed by the employee who initially called me. I feel this is deceptive and duplicitous. I could have saved a lot of money while I was out sick. I am an Army veteran so my health is important to me, but I suppose my money was more important to LA Fitness. I'll never do business with them again. I also got the run around about cancelling my membership, and I'm sure they'll charge me yet another month when I have verbalized and emailed them about my dilemma.

Horrible customer service through out. The Training Manager is beyond himself RUDE and Unprofessional. Jerome is not trained in Customer Service. All they care about is locking you in on a contract, barely explaining the contract details and then you cant cancel even if it is their fault you still cannot cancel. Without losing all your money that is. I tried working things out with the Gym as I was comfortable there. Without help from the site Manager. 3 months waiting for some Customer Service to only hear.. I had location options. As they still drafted from my account!

I went into my gym to cancel my membership long ago, and it appears that the associate that I was dealing with did not push the 'Submit' button when finalizing the cancellation. I have been charged for months and have not noticed until now, as it is a bank account that I seldom use. Called customer service and they refused to refund me any money as a refund, knowing well and good that I have not used an LA Fitness facility in many, many months.

The club here has not repaired the elipticals, (7) left, since I have been there. Over 2 years now!! I have filed complaints with the front desk but nothing happens!!
