Review: I decided to become a member of Lucille Roberts after I had my baby. I went ahead and did the no commitment and purchased my membership with my debit card. Keep in mind I recently gave birth so I was not going out and had not used my card since I delivered. The very next day I noticed fraudulent charges on my account, I called the bank and was told it was the last merchant where I had used my card. I went to the location and told them about the issue where I was advised I could pay as I go. I said that would be fine but never returned I was told I was not going to get charged because I did not commit. Months later I get a bill for $140 When I called [redacted] location they told me I had to contact customer service. There I was told that my membership was never cancelled because they cannot do that at location. The rep was rude and non apologetic she just cancelled the membership and stated I needed to pay the balance. I asked to speak to a supervisor who was just as rude. I was never told I had to call and cancel my membershipDesired Settlement: I do not want to be held liable for $140.00 after suffering fraud charges on my account and being told I could pay as I go when I went. I was never told I had to actually cancel my membership I would have done it if I knew I was not returning.

Review: I opened my trial account with Lucille Roberts on 7/**/2013 and was told I can cancel it anytime by calling in or on line. I didn't like the gym and decided to cancel my membership after the first 3 weeks. I tried to create a profile on Lucille Roberts' website and encountered some website problems. The issue remains until now (09/**/2013). I called in the club at [redacted] where I opened my membership and was told that their computer was down and they couldn't cancel my membership for me. I waited a few days and tried calling the club again; but was told that they were not able to cancel my membership for me and that I had to call their customer services department. I called their customer services department on their business hours and the customer representative on the phone was extremely rude and told me despite not being able to cancel my membership for August, 2013, I will also be charged for the following month (09/2013) because they need 1-month advanced notice. I requested to speak to her supervisor and she refused. Lucille Roberts charged me on my credit card for August and September 2013 and I called in the club today (09/**/2013) and was told that my membership is still active. I'm filing a complaint with Revdex.com because 1) Lucille Roberts' sales personnel provides false information to their customers; 2) Lucille Roberts operates out of legal boundary to scam money from their customers; 3) Lucille Roberts' staffs and customer services are extremely rude and failed to do their jobs.Desired Settlement: I would like Lucille Roberts terminate my membership with them immediately and provide me with a refund for the months that I did not use their club services.

Review: I cancelled my membership 3 months ago and I continued getting charged. I cancelled through the help desk, which is what you'readvised to do, to no aavail. Today I sent my 3rd and final request. I still haven't heard from anyone. I moved out of the area and van no longer use their services.Desired Settlement: I want them to cancel my membership and refund me for june and july. I've put a dispute in for August with my bank.

Review: My mother, sister and I were attracted to the gym because of their 2 for $10 a month deal. We signed up, telling the woman who worked at the gym that we would like to pay in cash each month. She said that we would need to provide the gym with a credit card for "security". We did. We asked if there would be any fines or fees when we decided to end our memberships. She said we wouldn't. She said the sign up was contract free. Little did we know... We haven't been to the gym for about two months because we were all busy with school and work. We called about canceling our memberships. The woman at the gym said to sign up online and just cancel! My mother and I both shared an account, and we sent in a request to cancel our memberships. My sister, however, was told by a worker at the gym to enter credit card information to cancel her membership. She did. We canceled all our memberships on 6/**/14. From that date until today, I have received 2 phone calls from my credit card company notifying me of $25+ being charged to my account. Today, I got a call from my credit card company notifying me of a $16 charge. I called the gym asking about these charges, months after I canceled my account. The woman who answered the phone was rude, uninformative and was distracted by talking to other customers as I explained my issue. She was no help so I decided to research this gym online to see if others had similar problems. Sure enough, numerous blog posts, threads, and even a newspaper article from 1999 shows up! They all explained a similar problem. Lucille Roberts makes it IMPOSSIBLE for members to completely cancel their memberships! Some were even charged up to 10 years! I don't want my family to suffer these unfair payments to this gym we don't even go to anymore! There is no phone number listed on the Lucille Roberts website to reach a customer service representative. They have an email address which I have emailed numerous times without getting any response back. I faxed and even found a corporate number!Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for all charges made to me after my mother, sister and I canceled our memberships. I have also found out about the self- renewing nature of the membership! And I want assurance that this won't happen to me. Please remove all of our information from your company so we will not have to worry about being charged years later.

Lucille Roberts has been attempting to transition into a coed gym "Fit Club." Back in December 2014 they started construction on the downstairs portion of the new gym. They hyped up this gym to be so amazing with brand new equipments and their advertised low membership prices. All throughout construction, current Lucille Roberts members were promised that we would not have to upgrade our membership for the new gym...promised that we were "grandfathered in" - weeks later we were told that we needed to pay the $25 a month. HELLO FALSE ADVERTISING! I couldn't believe how poorly they were conducting their business. They keep pushing back their open date so I left their facility and joined a new gym. I also found out after the fact that they do not provide their employees with a STATE REQUIRED unpaid meal break. I will never recommend this business to any of my friends, family or anyone I meet...in fact, I will do everything in my power to drive away their business. They are unprofessional, rude and have terrible customer service.

Review: after making several attempts to cancel my membership, I have been charged every month still. I have trying to call their main office and they never either picked up the call (i have been on hold for 20 min) or they pass around the call from person to person. and still my membership was not cancelled.Desired Settlement: I want them to immediately terminate my membership and refund my bills for month of august and september , the amount of 36.84 and 21.16 accordingly.

Review: In February 2014, I visited the [redacted] gym to obtained information on canceling my daughter's membership, since she no longer resides in New York. I was instructed to fill out the online cancellation request explaining the circumstances. On February **, 2014, I followed the instructions given me and submitted the request and neglected to follow up on the status. The gym continued to deduct payments. On July *, I visited the gym and spoke to [redacted], [redacted], about what had transpired and and about cancelling a second membership for another daughter. She advised me to make the request through [redacted]. She informed me that I should receive a response within two days. A week later, I notified her that I hadn't heard anything and was advised to check my spam. Two weeks later I returned and asked for her assistance since there was nothing in my spam and I had not received any correspondence. Since [redacted] was unable to assist me, I notified [redacted] to stop payment and dispute charges. The companys response was that they had not received my request for cancellation. On August ** I submitted email documents dated July *, 2014, which verified that I had requested cancellation of the two memberships,to the district [redacted], [redacted]. In September I was informed, by [redacted], that two the memberships would be cancelled and that I would be receiving a refund in the mail. To date I have not received any correspondence or refund from Lucille Roberts. As a result, in October I stopped the automatic deduction from my [redacted] account, which paid for my membership as well. I was informed that I have accumulated late fees and owe them.Desired Settlement: I would like them to use the money they continued deducting for my children's membership to pay off my balance.

Review: Signed up with LR in late 2013. Was assured before before I began at LR that there was no membership and that if I didn't use my card to sign in, I would not be charged for that month. Had not gone to gym since early in 2014 due to injury. So when I became injured, I simply thought I would not be charged. I noticed in April that my credit card was being charged. Went on line to LR/help (the only place to cancel, I was told) and officially cancelled my membership on 5/*. Still being charged; my credit card company forbid any more charges from LR and credited me for charges I disputed from the time I was injured.

Then came the emails. Strange how the LR/help website warns that contacting LR through AOL (my provider) is problematic and may cause a complanint to go unnoticed, but had no problem sending me daily 'money due' emails. Daily. Impossible to contact anyone (one person did contact me, saying my membership was cancelled but if I didn't pay up my membership would be reactivated--I didn't realize I got this email until recently because the email contained an unopenable attachment). Anyway, no one ever addressed my contention that I was billed incorrectly--and I wasn't about to pay the $18 I kept getting billed for. Again, no way to contact anyone, except the person at the local gym, who has absolutely no authority but to contact her mgr.

Then this past Friday, I suddenly received a 'Final Balance' email for $87.61. I emailed the person at the gym asking her to forward my email to her mgr, but no response. Revdex.com, it's almost impossible to reconstruct the entire scenario, so I am copying my last email (which includes historical information) below.

Got error message so deleted email cited above. Can send separately...have endless documentationDesired Settlement: Want to be refunded for charges made after I stopped going to LR, as well as for the $18. I have been continually billed for since about April/May. I want the current charges of $87.61 dropped completely. I do not owe LR a dime.

Review: I joined Lucille Robert in march and I decided it wasn't for me . I immediately let the manager know who's name is [redacted]. She then informed me that in order for me to cancel my gym membership I needed to go online and cancel at their email address however each Time I did the mail came back as undelivered I this happen several times .So then I called Lucille Roberts spoke to another individual who gave me customers services phone number who were very rude and nasty . I explained the situation to the customer service representative she then informed me that I still would be billed . I asked her why she said because I didn't give a 30 day notice which is untrue . She then informed me she would email a cancelation agreement which she did however it was in pdf. For more which I couldn't open. I called back to customers services again the same thing.I called back to Lucille roberts and still I'm getting the run around now they are trying to change me for 2 months for services I canceled so they now want me to pay for April and may! I recently looked at their reviews and they have over 171 [redacted] complaints about their business practices and other women trying to cancel their contracts and getting the roundDesired Settlement: I would like them to cancel my contract as requested on several occasions and to stop billing me for services I'm not using

Review: Since the day I joined Lucille Roberts, I have heard horrible things. So the next day I decided to call and cancel my membership. I called about 5 times that day, and every time they picked up they sent me to a different department, and just kept me on hold for almost an hour. I have tried calling the following day, and a couple of days after that, but I have had no luck in speaking with a representative. Since I couldn't speak with someone they have charged my card $16 a month, and now they have raised it to $35. I have NOT been there once in my life. I have recently began calling again to cancel this membership, but when I do the automated system tells me they're department is currently closed.Desired Settlement: I have had enough with this, and would like my money back since the day the started charging me.

Review: I got the membership for Lucille Roberts based on misleading and false statements. First of all, they kind of rush you to get registered on 06/**/13, I went for a trial class and they said to me today is the last day of this offer only $16 a month plus $1 registration, and end up being a lie because my friend went there and got the same offer like 2 days after. So they took my debit card and charge me for the first month plus registration, but they never disclose and/or made it clear to me that they were going to use my account information in the future to charge me directly for every monthly payment. Also, they said "no contracts, you can leave when you want without compromises", and it is completely false. I got charged for a monthly payment automatically without being even reminded of such deduction to my account, and now I got hit with Overdraft fee of $34, when I called today and try to cancel my "membership" and try to revert that August payment that I wont use and I did not authorized but they posted without even asking, I was told it is irreversible, and they are going to charge me also for September monthly payment. So, this is completely opposite of what they offer in their speech at the Gym, no one told me I was authorizing them to pay automatically deducted from my account. I feel robbed, I feel misled, and as a costumer don't think is fair they did not disclosure such a remarkable way of billing, instead of being sent a reminder or a bill. In addition, I told them that I was going to call them to cancel it any way because [redacted], then the last time I went there was Saturday 07/**/13 because my friend took me there and [redacted]. So I haven't being there ever since.Desired Settlement: I want to get reimbursed for that payment they charged me on my account without asking me before doing it so, also I want to get reimbursed for the Overdraft Fee because I was not expecting to be charged at that time.

Sincerely,

Review: They failed to honor their cancellation rules. More than 30 days notice was given and billing notices continue. Phone calls have not been recorded by their customer service department. Follow up calls have all failed to remedy the situation and in all cases I was told that they had no record of prior calls. Customer service reps have refused to have supervisors join the call. Specifics: Membership cancelled in late December 2012. Due to the Holiday and the fact that I thought it might have carried over to January 2013, I paid for January and February of 2013. During the week of 6/**/2013 I received a post card with a postmark of 6/**/2013 demanding payment (with a late fee). Since I had not heard from LR for at least 4 months, and I followed all their rules about cancellation I assumed that the cancellation was executed in a timely fashion. The Revdex.com gives this company an "F" rating for good reason.Desired Settlement: Cease and desist continued billing attempts and refrain from any further collection attempts.

Review: On or around 10/**/15 I signed up for a month to month no contract membership with Lucille Roberts because my old membership had expired. Two (2) days after signing up I ended up under doctors care for an injury which prevented me from continuing with my membership. I contacted Lucille Roberts and spoke to Ashley who identified herself as the manager, and was told I had two options which is to freeze my account or to cancel the membership. If I decide to cancel I could take part in any promotion they had going on whenever I returned. I opted for the cancellation since I had no idea how long my treatment would take; which as of today 2/*/16, I am still under my doctors care. I am in physical therapy and have no need for additional gym sessions so I have not returned to Lucille Roberts. Normally, if you have a membership and they miss your payments they send out text messages or emails stating they're trying to collect on your payment; or if they've noticed that you haven't been attending, they will send text messages with new promotions to motivate you to return. Since my phone call to cancel, I received no such correspondences from Lucille Roberts, further confirming my cancellation. I received a text 1/** stating that I now owe an $84.64 bill that they're willing to waive for a one-time payment of $29.00. For two (2) months I owed nothing as the account was cancelled, but now I owe this amount, which they're willing to collect only a fraction of. On 1/**/16 I received another correspondence that states I now owe $91.00! When I cancelled my membership it was only two (2) days after I paid $40.00 and I did NOT request my money back. I was fair in not having them lose out for something that was not their fault; I would appreciate if they would return the honor in removing these charges, as I have done my part as a consumer by informing them well ahead of my next scheduled payment. And to think that I intended on returning to them once cleared, but not if this is the way they conduct themselves. I would hope they'd have better integrity than to strong-arm a consumer/member for additional fees. I contacted corporate twice and spoke to a Colette who was very rude and abrasive to say the least, as well as condescending. She seemed unwilling to listen or help and basically called me a liar by stating, "you did not call here to cancel ma'am"; which was highly offensive.Desired Settlement: I would like Lucille Roberts to honor the confirmation Ashley gave me of my cancellation back on 10/**/15 and adjust this billing error to reflect a zero balance. It's not my fault proper information wasn't conveyed to me regarding their procedures for handling cancellations.
