On April 25, 2016, my wife and I decided to buy a tv. We went to our local *** and purchased a *** 58'' flat screen tv along with a sound bar. At the time the associate asked me if I had a power surge protector to protect my electronics. He recommended the Monster 600 Gold 6 Outlet Power Strip. It's a $60 power strip. On the packaging of the product said: CONNECTED EQUIPMENT WARRANTY - PEACE OF MIND - $350,000 INSURANCE- Guaranteed to protect equipmentMaking all these allegations it instantly built trust to spend another $60 for a Power Strip and it gave me exactly that, peace of mind at point of purchase. I figured we could protect our purchase of a tv just in case we ever did have a power surge. Not to mention we did not buy an extended warranty because we figured the Monster "Guaranteed" insurance would cover in case of a power surge. A little over a year later, around July 21 we had a power surge and it fried our *** tv. After days trying to find a Warranty phone number or email, my wife finally found a contact. They emailed us a Warranty Claim Form, which is an extensive detailed report with diagrams and all. Very confusing and time consuming for the customer (us). We had to pay a certified technician, we chose ***, $100 from our own pocket to verify and diagnose the problem. We scheduled the appointment with ***. Again very time consuming. They came in, and verified the parts that were damaged and reasoning. The tech said it was definitely a Power Surge that fried a component. We then mailed back the Power Surge Strip and the claim. It had to be Certified Mail with tracking # so it cost us another $20. We really felt like they were making us jump through hoops to file this claim. It was a lengthy process and very time consuming. We then called after a week. They said they received the claim, but they had to send the Power Strip to a lab to be tested. Which took 2-3 weeks. In all this it's been a little over 4 week process of phone calls, emails, and visits. On 8/23/2017, we get a letter in the mail stating that our claim was denied stating the evidence indicates that your component defects were not a result of a failure by the Power Center to properly perform. At this point I was extremely disappointed. We feel as if their claims on Warranty Protection are not being honored as they state on the Products Packaging. I feel as we were taken advantage of and trusted their claims of "peace of mind" and a year later they make it very difficult to work with and denied our claim. They did not honor their warranty.

Monster Response

We put your PowerCenter through a series of tests established by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. to determine if the unit is working correctly or not. If a unit fails the tests, the claim is deemed valid, and if the unit passes the tests, the claim is deemed invalid and denied. Your PowerCenter passed the test, therefore the claim is denied and closed.

See the attached determination letter sent to the claimant to close the claim.

Customer Response

In response to Monster Cable, which was: "We have done our due diligence to determine if this is a valid claim. Unfortunately, it is not. No further action will be taken on our part.",

Monster cable claims the power surge protector is working fine, therefore something else caused my TV to malfunction. I purchased this in all confidence trusting their product, but clearly it did not work. I followed their Warranty Protocol, and still they have "their own" techs state the device is properly working per its design specs. Meanwhile I had the TV inspected by a certified tech from *** and he said my TV is not working due to a power surge. Yet, I the consumer is stuck paying for a repair worth more than half of a brand new TV. Clearly false advertisement on Monster Cable packaging.

On May 25, 2017 I placed an order for Monster Black Platinum HDMI Cable with Performance Indicator from the Monster website. I received the package on May 31, 2017 *** (***). The cable inside the package was the wrong one and I contacted monster. They advised me they would resend the cable and to keep the hdmi cable I received, I told the company it was better to refund me since they are selling the same cable at *** for 39.99 and I paid 95.57 with monster. After I said that then they started asking for pictures, receipts serial numbers, and so on. I went to *** and purchased the same cable for 39.99 while monster refunded my money. I tested 3 of the same cables and the design was flawed. I tested them on 2 new tvs 4k+HDR with 2 new samsung 4k UHD players *** all with 4k content. The indicators on the cable would give false information. Playing 4k would say HD, playing bluer would say 4k, fire 4k would say standard on all 3 cables. I called tech support to give them my feedback and they denying everything and said it was the first time. I called again and was treated horribly by cutomer service many times. At the end Monster emailed me saying that they sent out the right cable and no refund. This is sad I have been a loyal customer for 10 years and have never had issies with monster.

Monster Response

The serial number of the item the buyer claims to have received did not match what was sent. We believe the "customer" is attempting to defraud Monster with his invalid claims. This customer has a history of 6 cases with Monster with the same type of situation.

Customer Response

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: They are lies. I want the company to show me proof that I defrauded them 6 different times. I have emailed them countless times asking for proof and nothing. No response. These are serious accusations. I have never ever defrauded Monster. I always pay large amounts of money to buy their products but not anymore. I want a refund on my order ASAP!!!! I need an RA# Sincerely
