Review: A salesman fromSecurity Systems, Inc. dba Safeguard America, came to my home and told me that my current alarm system company was in bankruptcy. He asked if his technician could come in and fix the equipment. The salesman instructed me to sign a 66 month contract with Safeguard America. He had me talk to someone at headquarters but I could not understand the person with whom I was speaking, so he told me what to say. He told me he needed a check for $46.53 so they would know if my checking account was good. He also had me sign a cancellation letter to my current alarm company. He had me mail it. I have been notified by my alarm company that I am under contract with them until next March and that they are not in bankruptcy. I am ** years old and obviously I am too trusting. I have since realized that this activity was fraudulent and that I was taken advantage of.Desired Settlement: I want the contract cancelled and an in-writing guarantee that no further money will be taken from my checking account.

Business

Response:

The account has been canceled, per the customers request, with no further obligation to [redacted].

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I would like to receive a letter from the business stating that my account has been cancelled and that I am under no further obligation to them.

Sincerely,

Review: Company would not fix my problems.

They are harassing me for money I don't owe.

After months of waiting for them to fix my alarm system I notified them in writing that I no longer wanted to do business with them. I sent them a check for $449.51 as a settlement offer thet they offered to end service with them in Feb of this year. They continue to have there automated phone call me at all hours of the day and night and say they wont stop until I pay them some other trumped up charge they can up with.

I did business with the same company for 20 year and they are treating me terrible.

My nest step it to take them to court for the repairs to my system that my new company charged me and see what my lawyer has to say about this telephone harassment.

Desired Settlement: Stop their silliness, stop the credit threats and stop the automated phone calls.

They will go no more money from me no matter what they do.

I have spent many thousands of dollars with this company and they show no respect.

My suggestion is be very careful if you plan on doing business with theses people.

The second account is a fire system in [redacted] restaurant. The customer has a contract that does not expire until June 2014. As of 8/2 he has still not called me back but the contract is valid and the monies are owed. Please call us to arrange service or a buyout on teh agreement.

Review: The product hasn't worked for almost a year.It wasn't what I originally asked for, I paid for a year with no service, found a better product. I tried to cancel the contract but was told they would not give the usual courtesy of a 80 or 75 percent buy out even though the system was not working and set off a silent alarm at which I was fined for 50 dollars and I had to pay even though it was the system it self that went off. I am no longer hooked up to their system, but was told I still had to pay the monthly payments until they received 100 percent of the buy out.

An 80 percent buyout does not exist on Safe Home Security's agreements. The amount due to close the account is $429.90. This will fulfill the 10 months remaining on the agreement.

this shows a poor business practices they miss represented themselves when they took over my account from the original company . lesson learned . I no longer open the door to anyone I don't already know especially businesses reps. here in colorado this is called a common sense practice when they didn't supply the service .

Review: In 2011 we were approached by VMS Alarm to install a wireless home security system in our home, at that time my contract was going to end with [redacted] Communications were poor from the beginning, such as no deposit and then we need a deposit. After the system was installed I had detectors on doors chirping while still closed or just falling off. After complaining several times they sent several service people out,one individual drilled my new back door to install a detector and it still does not line up and if I lock my backdoor it will not set the alarm.I have asked several times to fix these problems but SHS says sent some money and we will send someone out. I have recently found live low voltage wires stuffed in my wall from the previous system and just discovered recently that the backup battery is not hooked up, and probably hasn't been from the beginning. Poorest service ever.

Review: Back in April of 2013, I was contacted by Safeguard America (Security Systems INC.) and offered an alarm system for the house I had just bought. I was told that it was a 3 year term contract for monitoring and that if I moved it could be transferred to the new house. Now I have to move and to transfer the service requires a $199 fee. In talking to a representative today, I come to find out that the term for the contract is not 3 years but 5 and the transfer fee is a price they come up with since the contract doesn't specify anything. The Manager I spoke with, [redacted], told me that the sales person that called me originally doesn't work for Security Systems,Inc. They are contracted to do the sales calls and that Security Systems, Inc have no control as to what those sales people tell us, the consumer. He told me there is no way of investigating whether the sales people lied to get my business. I want other consumers to be aware of this type of trickery. The consumer has then no recourse when dealing with a company that relies on lying sales people who don't have to answer to their unethical business practices.Desired Settlement: I want them to reduce the contract time to 36 months like I was told and to not charge me a transfer fee when changing my service to another home.

Business

Response:

Safe Home Security cannot alter a written contract that the customer entered. The customer had 3 days to review the contract after they signed it in case there was something they disagreed with. Also, another copy is mailed to the client once the paperwork is finalized. The length of the agreement is 60 months as agreed upon on the contract.

However, our goal is to satisfy every client. In the interest of helping the client, we will waive the $199.00 system move fee, and allow the client to finish out their primary term with us at the new location. A new agreement would need to be signed, but only for the amount of months the client has remaining. We want the client to have a working system and to be protected.

Review: In 2008 or 2009, I entered into a contract with Safe Home Security after being contacted by them via a cold call solicitation to my home. The contract was for 3 years. They automatically deduct the monthly fee from my banking account. Since that time, I have gone on disability and am unable to work. After 3 years, I repeated contacted the company via phone to tell them I no longer wanted their services. Each time they told me I was unable to get out of the contract. Finally, one customer service agent told me that if I put it in writing and mailed it to their headquarters with in a 2 week time frame, my account would be terminated. A letter was written and sent but I was still charged. When I contacted the company again, they stated that my letter came to them "too late". I recently contacted the company again and stated that my wife had to have emergency heart surgery in August, 2013 and due to that would be out of work indefinitely. Because of our new financial hardship, I wanted our service terminated. They again refused.Because I had no other alternative, I contacted a lawyer who advised that I stop payment on their automatic deductions which I did. The company has now sent me a letter saying I will now be billed quarterly and charged various processing fees. I simply want my service terminated as I am unable to continue to pay. They are welcome to come and collect their monitors.Desired Settlement: I would like my contract terminated immediately with no further financial obligations to the company.

Business

Response:

The customer has an agreement signed in July 2009 for 3 years. The contract calls for 1 year renewals unless the customer sends in a cancellation letter 60 days prior to the end of each renewal. We have a letter on file but the contract will not expire until July 2014. The total to term is $481.48. Due to the customers financial hardship we would be willing to accept $250 if paid within 30 days to cancel the remaining agreement.

Review: I have contacted this company many times and have always been told they would have someone call me back which they never did. I did get some one after a year and told them as I had said to many others I was unhappy because they had told me in order to get me to get the system that I would get 15% off of my home owners ins when I called them right after getting it the home owners ins said no they don't do that so I called them then and that when it all stated I asked them not to take money from my bank account many times it was not set up like that was my understanding I would get a bill I asked them to close it because of these things and they told me to I had to basicly jump thur hoops so I am now doing that..Desired Settlement: I want them to close account and charge me no more money.

Business

Response:

When one of our potential customers comes aboard with Safe Home Security they sign a minimum agreement for 36 months. In addition to that agreement and the customer has made the wise decision to have fire protection they are told that because insurance recognizes homeowners that have fire protection that they may be given a discount on their homeowners insurance in the amount up to 20%. It is not the fault of SHS that your insurance company has not given you this discount.

SHS will not close your account until the agreement has been fulfilled which is 12/28/2015.

Review: Company is not allowing me to cancel contract. Original contract read for 3 years and was paid every month electronically from my bank account. When the contract was finished the company automatically rolled over a new contract before it was to end. According to them there was a print on the bottom of the contract that if I did not notify them within the 60 days of end of contract they would continue. The statement from them was "they have no obligation to notify me as to the contract ending. I protested and did not want or need another 3 year contract. After many talks (negative) I was sent a 1 year contract for this 2012-2013 ending August 19th providing I sent a letter notifying them that I wanted to cancel. I sent a letter and the response I received back anonymously was that "it was continuing until 2014" which is another year now making it a 2 year contract.Deceptive, Devious and Dishonest practice. I have fulfilled my part of the deal and it continues on.Please suggest what the next step is. I no longer have the amount coming out of my bank. I am sent a bill quarterly and all bills have been sent. The system in my house is disabled and as far as I am concerned, I have fulfilled my end of the contract that was one year ago. Any suggestions as to how to free myself from this would be greatly appreciated.Sincerely, [redacted]

Mr. [redacted] renewed with Safe Home Security on a year to year agreement. If a written letter of cancellation is not received at least 60 days prior to the end of the agreement, it renews for the next year. In this case Mr. [redacted]'s one year agreement ended on June 5, 2013. Seeing as a letter of cancellation was never received between June 5, 2012 and April 5, 2013 the agreement has renewed until June 5, 2014. Mr. [redacted]'s letter was received on July 2, 2013 and is on file which will have the agreement ending on June 5, 2014.

Review: FRAUD BY THIS COMPANY!!! I am a landlord and one of my X tenants in one of my homes, set up alarm service with this company. The contract which I obtained a copy has my Printed name, my property address. The contract is signed by my X tenant with TENANTS NAME NOT mine, Tenants bank auto bill info NOT mine. I have been in contact with this company for over a year. The account is now in collections, after many conversations they refuse to remove this account and continue to bill me for fraudulent UNSIGNED contract by me, over $1,000.00 bill. Safeguard America is a FRAUD. [redacted] at [redacted] ext [redacted], assured me over a few months ago it would be removed. The bill only increased and today on June 10 2015 quoted his boss [redacted] " We will only bill you for monitoring and warranty". Review: Mr.[redacted] cannot read so this is being filled out by a family member. A man came by to service the burglar alarm system. I told him after the three year contract is up I donot want services anymore. The service was to end july 2014. After july, 2014 I was still recieving bills from the company so I called to reinterate I donot want services and to stop billing me. I was told that I was on a contract for two more years. I told them I did not sign a contract, they told me my wife may have signed the contract. My wife passed away in June 2012, she could not have signed. I donot want this company's monitoring service because it is awful. They donot contact you or the police. I believe the person came out acted in fraud and signed the contract himself because he knew I could not read or write. I want the services cancelled and no longer want to deal with this company. Review: I signed three year home security contract with Safeguard America (Safe Home Security Inc) on February 7,2013. I have had many issues regarding the service and false alarms when the police were sent over. On February 3,2015 after having experience 2 false alarms because of faulty equipment, I called to cancel my account with Safe Home Security. I was reminded that I had one more year in my contract.I spoke at that time to Mr. [redacted] who convinced me that should I change to the wireless connection, all the false alarm problems would be gone. I complained Bout contacts I. Few rooms where the false alarm occurs and he ordered new covered magnetic strips for the contacts. I was told I had to sign a new contract which superceeded my old contract. I negotiated from a five year contract to a three year contract. I was also promised a couple free months because of my problems. The contract was signed by e-Mail on February 5. 2015@ 2:15 pm. The equipment was installed in the afternoon of February 6th. Soon after the technician left I realized that my phone was disconnected. I had no cell phone so drove for 25 minutes to a friend to mKe a service call. I called from about 4:50-7:00 and spoke with Four different customer service reps. They all advised they could not get in touch with a technician. The last one asked me to call again in the morning that they would have. Technician out first thing in the morning . I also provided my neighbour's. Number for customer service to leave a message for me. Around 10:30 on Saturday morning I went to my neighbour and called Safe Home Security. I spoke with [redacted] who was giving me a Wednesday appointment. I said I could not wait that long for my phone to be reconnected. He called back and left voice message that a technician would be at. My home between 3:00 & 4:00 pm that day, Saturday). No one showed up to this day of writing. I called my phone carrier who checked all phone jacks and found nothing, eventually they checked the securitDesired Settlement: I have. an [redacted] the. I tract signed on March 5 2015 which I was told superceeded my originL contract. I have advised my bank to not accept charges from this company and have asked the company to remove their devices. They are still holding me to the old contractI want out of the contract so that I could get a more reliable home security company.Thank you.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I have arranged for Safe Home Security to remove their wireless devices, today Wednesday March 25, 2015 between 1:00-5:00 pm. However, I believe that I am not legally bound to the first agreement since the second agreement dated March 5,2015, would have superceeded the previous agreement which ends February 2016. Safe Home Security does not agree stating that because the 2nd agreement was cancelled, the first is still binding. They will reconnect the old system.

Review: I was a customer of SHS and when my contract was up I cancelled my service but they kept taking the monthly payment out of my account, I called to

cancel and it was at last cancelled. I was just checking my credit score and SHS has me down for 16 late payments which has hurt my credit score. How can I have late payments when they were doing auto deduct. I just want that off my credit score, I have a very good credit rating and this has hurt it. can you please help meDesired Settlement:

all I would like is for them to remove that from my credit report, they have hurt my credit rating and all I want is them to remove the 16 late payments they say I have. And they were auto deduct so how could I make a late payment since it was auto deduct.

THE CUSTOMER CALLED IN ON 8/17 REGARDING THIS MATTER AND THE CREDIT WAS REPAIRED AT THAT TIME, BEFORE THE Revdex.com COMPLAINT WAS RECEIVED. WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY MISUNDERSTANDING OR INCONVENIENCE

Review: I have a service contract with Safe Home beginning in 8/2010 and towards the end of the service I realized that I did not want to renew my contract with them so I can could see what other service provider specials were available.I called the customer service hotline and spoke with a representative in the Jun timeframe (I believe) and made my intentions known that I did not want my contract to automatically renew. She attempted to sell me on some of their newer products and told me I had a 7-day window to get to back to her. I told her I may call back but to please note in my account that I do not want my contract to automatically renew. Some time went by and I thought my contract was over. To my surprise, I was still charged for the month of August. I called the customer service number to find out when my contract expires (this call was made in Aug) and was told that it expires in 8/2016. I told the representative that this cannot be correct since I called before I thought my contract expired and was told that I had until September for my contract to expire. I was later put on the phone with the representative I spoke with prior and she advised that I had to send an email to their customer service to have service cancelled. I sent an email that same day and about a week later received a letter stating my service could not be cancelled since my renewal date was 8/11/2013 and they require 60 written notice for cancellation.I am very shocked by the fact that when I called the first time I was not told this information and I was actually given misinformation that led to my contract being automatically renewed against my wishes. I believe that the representative gave me the incorrect information since I probably called very close to when my contract was about to rollover.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

I would like for my contract to be terminated without any fees. I attempted to call customer service prior to my contract end date and was apparently misled. I called their customer service line for cancellation for more information and was advised that there is nothing that can be done for me since my cancellation letter was received after my contract renewed even though I was under the impression that my contract would not automatically renew.

Business

Response:

The contract between Safe Home Security and Mr. [redacted] was initiated on August 11, 2010 for a period of 36 months. If a written letter of cancellation is not received at least 60 days prior to the end of the agreement, it renews for a period of 36 months.

Safe Home Security would love to work with Mr. [redacted] in regards to his concerns of alternative specials. As far as the agreement is concerned, Safe Home Security would accept a buyout in the amount of $436.37.

Consumer

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I feel was I was mislead when contacting their customer service. If a customer call their authorized and receives erroneous or incorrect then that should not the be the the fault of the customer. I attempted to find out the correct procedure prior to my automatic renewal and was not only given the incorrect procedure but was given flagrantly incorrect and do not feel it was a good practice. I have been a customer without any issues and would like to have my contract voided. I don't care about the money I've already paid but if you would like to solve this issue without having to go through legal means. I do not believe I should have to buyout a contract that shouldn't have been renewed.

Advised them to do a check tracer to see if the check had cleared or not and to reissue a check to me so that I can pay [redacted] and not be sent to collections. Review: This evil company is preying on sick elders and using different company names on their contracts to mislead the customer!

When my father wanted a call alert button to wear around his neck, he called on an advertisement that was a fictitious disguise for Safe Home Security. They told him that for the call button he had to have an alarm system and monitering to the tune of $1800! This is the first lie, since an alarm is not required for a call button. My father did not even want or need an alarm system, and in fact he not only never used the alarm system, but he never even locked his doors! But they somehow talked him into signing a 60 month contract for $1800 dollars for a $20 piece of equipment that they stuck on the wall by the door. My father went to heaven in June. I called the number on the alarm system to discontinue service, and eventually ended up talking to SHS whose name is not even on the contract. They are saying that my father had only paid $540 of the $1800 owed, so we still owed $1260 (for a $20 piece of equipment that he never used). I was able to speak to a customer service representative, and I told her we could return the equipment because we did not want it. She said that they do not take the equipment back and that we had to pay due to the contract (that does not have their name on it). So I told her the amount was ridiculous, and long story short, she told me she could reduce the amount to $995 (for a $20 piece of equipment that we don't want). Keep in mind that you can't look these people up before you sign the contract and check them out because they keep changing the name on their contracts to some fictional name! And the alarm system has a different name too! My dad was very sick and on chemo at the time he signed this contract!! He only wanted a call button, and they purposely took advantage of his weekened state! This is beyond evil and these people should be arrested!Desired Settlement: The ONLY settlement that is acceptable to me is for SHS to completely CANCEL this ridiculous "contract" that doesn't even have their name on it, and to be happy that they managed to STEAL $540 dollars from my father's account! These are ILLEGAL practices and these people should be put out of business!!! I would be more than happy to return the equipment which is in perfect condition because it was never used.

I spoke with [redacted] on 8/20/2013 and explained our contract extensively. We also discussed the fact that nobody ever lodged any complaint prior to now and paid every month from the beginning without a hitch. I offered $899.56 to settle the account and [redacted] verbally agreed on the amount. We have sent her the offer in writing and are awaiting payment.

Review: Out of blue I started receiving monthly bills for Home Security Alarm monitoring in Nov 2014. I have not known or heard of this company before. Inspite of insisting that I am not interested in their services and have not signed any contract with them, they keep sending me the bills and keep calling me.Desired Settlement: They should stop harassing and stop sending me bills for the service which I did not sign up for.
