Refused Refund for unwanted product.
This company is shady is the way they do their business. I prepaid for 6 boxes and thought that'd be the end of it. When I noticed a $250 charge on my *** account. They sneakily charged me and provided no receipt or confirmation email - seemed as if they were just trying to get away with it. When I contacted them they flat out refused to give me a refund even though I had yet to be sent or receive any product. Now I'm stuck getting this boxes I no longer want all they did was offer other service types instead when I wanted nothing more than just my money back.

Desired Outcome

I just wanted a refund because I did not authorize this transaction even though they claim I did because its in their "fine print"

Requested a refund for automatic renewal and was refused.
As others had experienced- I never received an automatic renewal notice email or notification. It was only accessible on the website. I contacted the customer service within 12 hours of the card charge and they refused any refund. The only option was to postpone or gift the purchase. I requested a partial refund and was refused that as well. I've been increasingly disappointed in the quality of the products received.

Desired Outcome

I would like a full or 2 month refund. Company should start email notifications before cards are billed.

This long time customer was aware of the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription as they had experienced a renewal previously.

The customer signed up for a 3-Month automatic renewing subscription of Date Night In Box At that time they were made aware of the future scheduled automatic renewal through post purchase communications. The customer had access to their future automatic renewal deadline by logging into their customer portal that was created during the checkout process. By logging in the customer had access to skipping or canceling their automatic renewal feature, updating their shipping address, credit card information and much more.
The customer was required to agree to the Night In Boxes terms and conditions prior to signing up for their subscription. The customer gave Night In Boxes permission to continue to charge the payment method associated with their subscription until a cancellation occurs or is requested. The customer did not cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription until after their renewal deadline. As stated in the terms and conditions, a cancellation of renewal does not result in a refund, however does result in the customer receiving the remaining shipments associated with their most recent renewal. The customer's automatic renewal feature was successfully cancelled. After their final shipment associated with their most recent renewal is delivered, their subscription will expire.

On 11/1/2019, Night In Boxes made an adjustment in the receipt email to communicate that the customer will not receive a reminder communication regarding their automatic renewal.

SUBSCRIPTION AND AUTOMATIC RENEWAL TERMS

Night In Boxes offers various subscription term lengths (month-to-month, three-month, six-month & twelve-month subscriptions). The price varies based on the term length renewal option you choose. By purchasing a subscription, you agree and acknowledge that your subscription will be automatically renewed for another term (based on the subscription term length you selected with your initial purchase) and will continue to do so until you cancel your subscription. Your payment method will automatically be charged for each successive term period at the then-current subscription rate without further authorization from you until you cancel your subscription renewal. You agree that such notice will not affect charges submitted before Night In Boxes was notified. All subscriptions renew on the 27th at 7PM EST (8 PM EST during Daylight Savings) of the final month of your subscription term. You accept responsibility for all recurring charges prior to cancellation, including, where applicable, any charges processed by Night In Boxes after the expiration date of your payment card.

Auto Renewal
I bought a years subscription and was auto renewed without any notification. I canceled my subscription but was told I would not be able to get a refund even though no boxes from the new subscription have been shipped.

I have informed the business I do not wish to receive any boxes but was informed that in facylt I'm unable to cancel the subscription for 2020even though no boxes have been sent. It's a shame that the company relies on people forgetting to cancel subscriptions in order to be profitable. Judging by the other complaints I've seen on Revdex.com it seems to be common practice for them.

I was charged $491.84 and would like a refund. I have cancelled my subscription. I opted out of auto renew and have no need for more boxes.
I signed up for 1 year of Date Boxes as part of a Valentines Day special. February 2nd 2019. After entering my CC information I am certain to have opted out of any renewal and or future promotions. I was charged a renewal fee though I only signed up for a one time 1yr subscription. They refused to refund me anything nor was I ever notified. At no point was I contacted about an upcoming renewal nor a notice that I was being charged or a receipt of purchase. They promptly send out notice every time a box is on the way, so there's no reason there shouldn't be some kind of information sent out. The Manager I have communicated with stated that "You were provided with a reminder that your subscription would automatically renew in your order confirmation page, welcome email, and receipt email." Anyone in there right mind would understand that after a years time any person would need a friendly reminder of a renewal. Any company I have ever had a subscription with practices this responsible and courteous business practice instead of forcing themselves on customers and then not wanting to issue a refund. Simply providing notice during the checkout process and at no other time after is sketchy business.
I was charged $491.84 as a result and would like a refund. I cancelled my subscription and requested a refund immediately I was denied a refund but offered a poor alternative.

"We can change the product type on your future shipments from Date Night In to Kids Night In. We can also postpone the shipments to arrive at a later date."

How will postponing the shipping dates make the product any better? And how can you assume that that customers would be interested in the kids boxes. I don't even have kids. The product itself was not worth the discounted price I originally paid and and much less the full price that I was just charged. They are not in the business of helping people but rather in the business of scamming and taking advantage of people. On top of everything not only did I not receive a reminder of a renewal even though I opted out of auto renew, I was also charged 5 days before my original purchase date.

Desired Outcome

I am simply seeking a full refund of $491.84. I have not received any shipment for the new subscription and have no need for future shipments.

There is a lot of misleading information the more I talk to different employees. But from what I recall I opted out of a continuation of services. Also as stated before, it is almost impossible to remember the renewal dates of all subscriptions. I have no need for such boxes and do. OT wish to receive anymore. I simply would like a refund of the money charged to my account.

By canceling your subscription after a renewal, you are not automatically initiating a full or a partial refund on your purchase. This is stated in our terms and conditions. Many customers that do not want their subscription to renew and may forget go in an cancel their account right away. They still receive all of their shipments and do not have to worry about it renewing. Im sorry but we can not offer a refund.

I fail to see how I cannot be provided a refund of $491.84 as others with the same complaint have received refunds via Revdex.com. Additionally, this company reminds customers monthly of their upcoming shipments I'm sure it doesn't take much to send out a reminder of upcoming subscription renewal. They don't send reminders because they want to trap people into these subscriptions. The email they claimed to have sent me was never received. Once again I have no interest in continuing to receive boxes and really need my money back

I believe Date Night In is guilty of breach of contract. As such, I have requested a refund, and they will not issue a refund.
I entered into a 12-month subscription with Night In Boxes on December 18, 2018 during which time I was to receive 12 date box deliveries. I did receive one delivery every month from January 2019 through November 2019. However, in December of 2019, Night In Boxes did not send a delivery. Instead, they sent an email stating that they ran out of product and could not supply the date box that month. Because of their failure to deliver a date box delivery in December of 2019, I only received 11 deliveries during my 12-month subscription.
On December 28, 2019, Night In Boxes charged my credit card $551.88 for an "auto-renewal" that I was unaware of. I contacted the company, and they did show me in their Terms and Conditions that an auto-renewal was a part of our agreement. Those Terms and Conditions state that I needed to cancel the auto-renewal manually prior to the 27th of the final month of my term, or the renewal fee would be non-refundable. I do not argue that these terms were communicated at the beginning of my subscription.
As soon as I realized that my card had been charged for the auto-renewal, I did gain access to my online account with Night In Boxes and manually opted out of any further auto-renewal. I did this on January 19, 2020. I also emailed an assistant manager, Stephanie C., asking her to postpone any and all shipments connected to the auto-renewal indefinitely.
I am arguing that since Night In Boxes did not fulfill their responsibility to deliver the full product of my initial subscription within the 12 month time frame of my term, they are in breach of contract. As such, they cannot enforce their Terms and Conditions of that contract. Accordingly, they should not have processed an auto-renewal on December 28, 2019. However, since they did, they should refund that charge once a refund has been requested.
I have requested a full refund of the $551.88 nothing short of three times with Night In Boxes for the auto-renewal that was charged on December 28, 2019. Assistant Manager Stephanie C. has declined each time. She has said that the company will add an extra date box delivery to the end of my newly renewed subscription to cover the date box delivery that they failed to send in December 2019. This equates to sending the extra date box delivery in January of 2021. I have communicated to Stephanie C. that sending a deliver 24 months after my subscription began hardly satisfies their responsibility to provide 12 date box deliveries in 12 months.
I have issued a dispute with my credit card company regarding the renewal charge, but I have not, yet, received a determination on that dispute.

At this point, I would not only like Night In Boxes to refund my auto-renewal charge of $551.88, but I also feel that they owe me a refund of my original subscription fee since they did not fulfill their responsibility during that initial term.

I signed up for a 1 time 6 month subscription. I was charged an automatic renewal. I did not opt for that.
I signed up for a one time 6 month subscription. My cc was automatically charged for renewal. I did not opt for automatic renewal. I tried to contact Night in Boxes when my card was charged requesting a refund. I could not locate a customer service number-there is not one. I emailed my request and was told no, a refund is not an option. I said I would not mind paying for the first box in this cycle but to please found the feast. Again I was told no,and was offered a kids box subscription (I have no kids) or change the delivery. I stated I was not interested in receiving the boxes at all. Again I was told NO. I was told it was all explained at initial checkout. No reminders were sent stating subscription was about to end and renewal would be charged. Their customer service is awful. I wish I had researched reviews before the one time subscription. Seems MANY have the same experience.

The customer indeed signed up for a 6-month automatic renewing subscription of Date Night In Box. The customer was provided multiple warnings regarding the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription through out the shopping and checkout process. The customer was provided the opportunity to remove the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription during the checkout process. The customer did not select that option. The customer was additionally provided with steps to cancel the feature along with a support address in the checkout screen, if they had troubles cancelling the automatic renewal feature.

The customer was provided additional warnings regarding the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription in all post purchase communications: order confirmation page, welcome email and receipt email.

The customer was required to agree to the terms and conditions in order to subscribe. If the customer does not agree to the terms and conditions they cannot sign up for a Night In Boxes subscription. Additionally, the customer agreed to allow Night In Boxes to continue to charge the payment method associated with their subscription unless the automatic renewal feature associated with the subscription was cancelled.

As clearly stated in the terms and conditions, the customer must cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription prior to their previously communicated and agreed upon automatic renewal deadline. If a customer cancels the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription after their renewal deadline, they are not due to receive a refund, however, are due to receive the remaining shipments associated with their most recent renewal. After receiving their final shipment, the customer's subscription will expire. Please see terms and conditions below as a reference.

The customer did not request support with cancelling the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription until 1/13/2020, after their 12/28/19 renewal.

Since the customer purchased their subscription, Night In Boxes has included an additional warning in the receipt email warning customers that they will not receive an automatic renewal reminder.

I am not at all satisfied. Their practices are deceitful. I offered to pay for the first box that was included in renewal but would like to be refunded for the remainder. They would not at all accommodate. It is no wonder they have a low Revdex.com rating MANY customers have experienced the same issue. I do not recall seeing anything stating "there will be no renewal reminders after initial purchase" multiple times. All I'm looking for is a refund for the subscription minus the first box. I don't think that is asking a lot. Thank you for considering this.

As stated in the Night In Boxes terms and conditions, the customer is not due to receive a refund as they did not cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription until after their renewal deadline. Cancelling after a renewal deadline will not result in a refund. The customer will not be provided with a refund as requested. Night In Boxes has made a final decision on this complaint.

In October 2019, Night In Boxes made improvements in communications with customers making them aware that they will not receive notice before their subscription renews in the receipt email.

I recently ordered a Kids Night In box for my nieces, and the customer service from the company was outstanding. There were some email/tracking issues due to not entering info correctly on my end, and they were great working with me and resolving all issues I couldn't figure out. Timely, responsive, and extremely helpful!

Inappropriate auto-renewal of gift
This company charged me $506.22 for an "auto-renewal" that they claim was part of their terms and conditions when I purchased this as a gift for someone. I don't remember seeing any auto-renew option at purchase, and I remember having issues with mobile checkout, so it's likely this was missing, skipped, or checked upon refresh when I paid for the box. I should note also that I ordered another, similar gift from the same company around the same time and unchecked the auto-renew option, so it's clear that I know how to do this and that my intentions were not to continue the subscription.

I contacted the company immediately when I saw the *** receipt, which was the only notification I received of the charge; there was no indication shortly before or after the charge that my purchase would be renewed. This was less than 24 hours after the deadline they claim to have informed me of. They refused to provide even a partial refund for this charge.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund of $506.22 from this company to my *** or checking account.

I purchased a subscription for my husband and myself and instantly fell in love with the product. It's a way for us to have a fun (and sometimes corny) night to ourselves that's different than just going out to dinner or a movie. Over the summer we were away and much more busy so we were easily able to pause our subscription for the time period necessary. We're back on now and I decided to purchase for my sister and her fiancé as a Christmas gift. I realized I purchased their subscription under my account and there was a bit of confusion as to what box will be going where and when now that I had two diff subscriptions on my account. Stephanie at DNI was super responsive and helpful when I emailed customer service, ensuring that we were on the same page with what expectations I had. I love the product (and have for about a year now) but what inspired me to write the review was the timely and helpful customer service experience I recently had. I highly recommend this company across the board! I also love the newly added "choose your theme" option as well! My only very minor suggestion is to try to iron out a way that current members can purchase gifts under their account that clearly are separate from the original account owner's account. But with a little assistance from customer service, this isn't a major issue at all. I look forward to dates with DNI for many months to follow!

The company auto-renewed us, and refuses to refund us, even though we haven't gotten anymore boxes in the mail yet. They want our money no matter what
On 27 November at 7:00pm, my wife got an email telling us we were auto-renewed for six more months of a date-in-the-box service costing more than $250 dollars. she cancelled it later that night, and also got an email stating we would still get all the boxes from the auto-renewal. on the 29th (they were closed for Thanksgiving on the 28th) we reached out to customer service via email and asked them to refund us. They refused, citing their terms, but said that we could change the service to a different product, or delay the service to a more appropriate time, like a loved one's birthday. I have no desire to continue this service in any form, and desire a full refund.

There should be no reason why they can't refund me, as they have incurred no costs to this point. This practice feels like a cheap trick to generate more revenue, using an arbitrary deadline to "gotcha" consumers into paying for six months more worth of boxes. I also intend to contact the South Carolina Attorney General's Office to pursue the complaint with them, and I recommend anyone else having this issue does the same.

I am seeking a full refund for the $254.83 pending charge on my credit card.

Vendor refusing to issue a refund for an automatically renewed subscription well before items will ship.
I signed up for a 12 month Date-Night-In package as a gift for my husband in 2018. However, I was just charged $500 when the subscription automatically renewed last week. I reached out to the vendor to pursue a refund, but they refused stating that I agreed to this in the initial purchase. I have no recollection of this being asked, but even if that were the case how can they condone ZERO email communication prior to charging for said renewal - especially when it's been a year since the first transaction? This is a company that sends monthly email reminders that their shipments are on the way, so I know emails are not being missed or flagged as junk. Even more frustrating is that none of the packages have shipped and are not due to start for another month.

There is no customer service phone number, but the employee that responded to my email merely cited their refund policy (or lack thereof) and offered to switch the boxes to another type, put them on hold (still no refund associated just changing the shipment date), or change the address. I told them this was not an expense I planned on and is simply not affordable for me this year. I've requested to follow-up with a manager and am still attempting to pursue a refund. Beyond frustrating!

During the shopping and post purchase process, the customer was provided with multiple warnings regarding the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription along with suggested steps on how to cancel this feature or contact Night In Boxes Customer Experience team to get support with cancelling the feature.

The customer was required to agree to the terms and conditions prior to completing their purchase. Without agreeing to the terms and conditions, the customer cannot purchase a subscription. The customer was provided the option at time of purchase to select a non-renewing subscription, however, the customer did not select this option.

The customer was encouraged to log into their account on a monthly basis where they had access to updating their subscription, shipping information and cancel their subscription. Their future automatic renewal date is posted for customer to see in their account log in, in efforts to be transparent in the customer.

Since the customer purchased their subscription, Night In Boxes as provided additional communications regarding the the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription throughout the shopping experience as well as through post purchase communications. A note has been added to the receipt email warning customers that they will not receive a renewal reminder email.

Such an incredible company!! I love this concept!! A wonderful way to extend play and keep kids creating and being creative!!!

Date Night In charged my credit card $259 with no warning for 6-months of their boxes that I do not want. They refuse to process a refund.
On May 4, 2019 I saw an ad on Facebook which offered a deal for Date Night In boxes. I signed up and started receiving the boxes. I never opened them as my boyfriend wasn't interested. I knew I bought 6 so the last one came last week. Each one came every 4-6 weeks. I was glad to be done. Late Sunday evening 10/27/19 I got an alert from *** that DateNight charged
$259. I was in shock. I figured they charged for another 6 months. They are closed on the weekends so I could not call anyone for support. I immediately logged in to their site (my first time since 5/4/19) and cancelled the subscription. But then the note said it would cancel for future but not the $259 I was just charged. I certainly do not want 6 more boxes and since I just got the last one, this is for a future product not something I already have. I submitted a request on their website. This morning they responded that I can't have my money back but they can change it to a Kids box. I don't have any kids. I let them know they should not strong arm their customers on their product. And that within 90 minutes of getting the charge alert, I was voicing my concern. They say in the email I received 5/4 it states I will get auto renewal. It does not. Never in a million years would I agree to renew something I hadn't even received before. This is obviously a scam to consumers. I want to partner with you and will do anything to help other consumers. There must be many others who have the same issue. Let's file a class action? I accept the refund that the company provided, which is what I was looking for. Their response has conflicting information though and I just wanted to point this out. In the 2nd paragraph the company states they have made improvements to post purchase communications at a time AFTER I purchased my initial 6 boxes. They also state that I was given multiple communications regarding their subscriptions - which I DID NOT. Maybe during the purchasing cycle (which I don't recall), but in the Welcome email - it is not stated, and I never received a separate receipt email. I only received one email from this company in the 6 months I received boxes. So I will believe that their communications have since improved due to misunderstandings with their customers including me. I've received my refund so I am fine now. To be clear - the refund was for future boxes which I never received. I paid for the 6 that I did receive.

Date Night In charged me for six months of service I did not want or ask for. I have been trying to resolve the issue with them and they are terrible.
I signed up to receive 6 date nights from this company and did not realize it came with an auto-renew. After being charged ~$250, I requested a refund and I was refused. I agreed to pay one month and get a refund for five and again they refused. Their business practices and sketchy and they have no problem forcing themselves on their customers. I have been very nice and tried to work with them on their lack of communication (I was not notified this was auto-renew or receive a receipt) and they refuse to resolve my issue in a way that I find satisfactory.

I would like a full refund, but at the least I would like a refund for five months. They have offered to change my subscription but that is not a resolution.

They have superior Customer Service! I have been a customer for almost a year now. The October box was delivered a few days ago and it appeared that in shipping, it had a hard ride to get to me. Part of the box internally was damage. I contacted them on Facebook, and the Assistant Manager made the process so easy! I sent her a picture of the box and within a day a new box is already out to me! Not only do they have great customer service but the experience that I have had with the significant other because of the things in the box has honestly taken our relationship to a whole new level!

On 9/28/2019, I was charged $239 for a 6 month subscription from Date Night In. I did not authorize this charge. I also do not have any email or phone correspondence stating that my account would be charged in the amount of $239. They are stating that they will not refund me, and I believe this is a fraudulent charge, as it was never communicated that it would occur, and I never authorized it. I was not sent a receipt for the purchase, nor was I sent an invoice that the payment would occur. I have attached a screenshot of every email sent from Date Night In- there is no evidence of invoice or receipt. I have also attached a screenshot of the charge they made to my account. I would like a full refund, and Date Night In is currently denying it.

I am seeking an immediate stop of all deliveries, as well as a refund of the full amount- $239.

I purchased what I though was a one-time purchase of 6 months of night in boxes for my wife's birthday on April 9, 2019. On October 3, 2019, I noticed a charge on my credit card for $258.72 on September 28, 2019. I was surprised at the charge as I had only intended to make a one time purchase from their site.

After contacting the company's customer service email to resolve the misunderstanding and request a refund, I was told that there was no misunderstanding and that I would not be issued a refund.

They made the argument that they were transparent at check out that I would be signed up for recurring renewals six months ago when I made my initial purchase. As I was under the impression that I was making a one-time purchase, I missed the fine print that said I was signing up for a subscription. I feel that they intentionally hid this fact in the terms and conditions as well as in a info button on the check out screen that needed to be clicked to get a full description of this policy.

Regardless of the notifications at checkout, I made the counter argument that if they were truly transparent, they would have notified me before my subscription was renewed via email. Many other box subscriptions use this practice in order to make sure boxes aren't sent to customers who don't want them. I would consider this to me a transparent practice, however, Night In Boxes does nothing to notify their customers.

Furthermore, they did not send me a receipt after my credit card was charge for the renewal. As per their policy, I only had 24-hours in order to contact them after my card was charged in order to dispute the charge or change my subscription preferences. Again, they claim that they are transparent and above board in their renewal practices, however, if they really wanted to give clients a chance to cancel or make changes to their subscription in advance of being charged, they would make an effort to notify clients before charging them or send a receipt just after a client was charged.

The only names I saw during my correspondence were Stephanie C., Assistant Manager, and Mary B., Manager.

Desired Outcome

The company's response has essentially been that they have our money and they are not going to refund it. Although I have made my argument to more than one person, they have not addressed the merit of my argument, yet still maintain that they are transparent in their practices. I have tried to offer compromises but they have stood firm in their response and refuse to offer any kind of refund. The Revdex.com webpage for this company mentions that they are working to alter their practices in order to avoid these types of complaints. I do not think they have done enough if this is their response. As it has escalated to the point where I have had to involve a third party, I would like to request a full refund from Night In Boxes at this time.

The customer purchased a 6-month, auto-renewing subscription of Date Night In Box on 4/09/2019 UTC. Their subscription renewed on 9/28/2019 UTC. The customer cancelled their subscription on 10/3/2018 after their advertised and previously agreed upon renewal subscription term. Because the customer cancelled after their subscription renewal date, they are not due to receive a refund according to the Nigh In Boxes terms & conditions the customer was required to agree to in order to sign up for their subscription . The customer was made aware of the auto-renewing feature on their account while in the cart feature of the check out process. The customer received warning in multiple locations in the checkout screen regarding the auto-renewal feature associated with their subscription. The customer is provided with an additional disclaimer and the customer service email address to provide assistance with the cancellation of this feature while going through the ordering process.

The customer was also reminded of the automatic renewal feature in the order confirmation page, receipt email and welcome email. The customer also created an account during checkout where they had access to skip or cancel the auto-renewal feature associated with their subscription. In the customer portal, they also had access to their next scheduled renewal deadline.

The customer is not owed a refund due to our terms & conditions and failure to cancel their subscription prior to the subscription renewal deadline.

The Night In Boxes (NIB) Customer Service has been a broken record. They have repeatedly sent form email responses stating that because I accepted their Terms and Conditions at checkout, they will not offer a refund for an autorenewal charge. I believe that their policies are structured in order to protect their company and offer no consumer protections. Their claims that they are concerned with client satisfaction are disingenuous at best and cannot be taken seriously in relation to their actions (or lack thereof).

NIB's customer service member Staphanie C. stated in NIB's initial response on October 3, 2019 that:
"We NIB are transparent in the fact that your card would continue to be charged unless you canceled your subscription."

My response to this statement of transparency was that if they truly were committed to transparency, they would have done three things in addition to everything they have done above:

1. NIB would send an email notifying customers of their upcoming renewal with sufficient time for customers to make changes to their policy. For example, an email 48-hours in advance of said autorenewal. Many other box companies adhere to this practice and have a good reputation as a result.

2. NIB would send a receipt via email immediately once my card was charged for the autorenewal. I was offered a receipt a week later, but this did nothing to notify me of the purchase in time to do anything about it.

3. Their policy is that any refunds will only be processed within 24-hours of the renewal charge. This window for action is very small, and seems intended on making sure that clients don't notice a charge on their card until it is past the 24-hour period in which customers could take action.

The above arguments challenging the transparency of NIB have been ignored in all of their responses. They have tried to make the case that they are committed to their customers by being transparent and are sincere in their apologies that they do not offer refunds. My counter is that if they truly put their customers first, they would adopt policies like these in order to build relationships and demonstrate their company's commitment to consumer protections. As it is, NIB has built their policies to protect themselves and no one else.

Regarding the broken record, NIB has repeatedly responded to my complaints with the same response. I will detail their claims and my counter response below.

1. They have stated that their renewal and refund policy is stated in their company Terms and Conditions (T&C). It is well known that if consumers were to read every policy and T&C for every item bought or app downloaded, they would spend one month every year, without sleep, reading these documents. If a company is looking to hide something from consumers, it is most likely going to hide it in the T&C because the expectation is that consumers don't have the time to read them.

2. They have mentioned placing information on the checkout screen. They provided a pdf of the checkout screen that I would have seen when checking out. It showed one short line addressing the subscription, however, the detailed policy was hidden in an info box that would be missed if it wasn't clicked on. As I assumed this was a one-time purchase, I wasn't looking for an explanation about a subscription and missed the policy hidden in the info box.

3. They also stated that the subscription was lastly stated in the welcome email. Again, with all the email consumers receive, this info was overlooked.

4. NIB mentioned that I could sign in to my account at any time and cancel my subscription. I did this after my renewal was processed to make sure I would never be charged again. I must say I had a hard time finding my subscription information in my account. It wasn't until I scrolled all the way to the bottom of my account page that I was able to find my information. In my opinion, NIB seems to have intentionally structured the account page to hide the subscription information at the very bottom. Until I was looking for it, this information was concealed and hard to find.

I have listed these policies in order to establish a pattern of behavior on the part of NIB that demonstrates how this company hides and conceals the autorenewal policy from the consumers.

All of these notifications and policies are presented in a way that is subversive and hidden from customer notice. While NIB stands firm that they notify consumers at checkout of their terms, the information is presented in a way that is intended to be easily missed by customers, yet locks customers in a binding contact. NIB's T&C provides all of the advantages to NIB and allows no consumer protections.

Furthermore, NIB has stated more than once that if boxes are returned to the sender, it will not generate a refund for the customer. This policy highlights the actions of other customers who have been put in this position. Instead of modifying their policy to allow refunds, NIB have included wording to anticipate and negate consumer actions intended to counteract their autorenewal policies.

Lastly, on the Revdex.com's webpage for NIB, it is stated that: "As of April 2018, the Revdex.com noticed a pattern of complaints involving auto subscribe cancellation concerns and refunds. The company has been cooperating with the Revdex.com to address and eliminate the pattern of complaints." If this is the best the NIB has to offer when attempting to change their policies, then they have done nothing for their customers.

At this time, I would like to request that NIB make an exception to your policy and agree to a compromise regarding this situation. I am willing to meet NIB half way regarding my renewal. I have unknowingly and unagreeably been charged for a 6-month renewal of your service. Would NIB be willing to refund half of the amount that was charged if I would be willing to pay for three months of your service? I feel that this will go a long way to demonstrate that NIB is more committed to their customers than their bottom line and are willing to work with customers in an attempt to solidify future business and referrals. This is the biggest and most reasonable concession I have made during this conflict and I would ask that NIB would be willing to consider this compromise in the spirit of customer satisfaction.

The customer was provided provided multiple warnings throughout multiple communications both through the checkout process and post purchase communications. The customer agreed at checkout to take responsibility for the actions occurring on their account.

Night In Boxes does take circumstances into consideration for customer's who have renewed and have experience extreme financial hardships. In these cases, Night In Boxes will work with the customer to come to an alternative resolution. Mr. Jones did not express any extreme financial hardship therefore was not considered for an alternative resolution.

The assumption that the case is closed and that I am happy with the resolution is false. I wasn't able to respond in the week provided and an upset with the Revdex.com not allowing me to properly close out this case.

Night in Boxes is more concerned with one time purchases than maintaining long term relationships with clients. As I have established in my responses to them, their terms and conditions are set up in a way that offers all protection to their business and does not allot customers any protections. I have never been more disappointed with a business transaction as I have been with this one. I am also very upset that Revdex.com has chosen to close this complaint without following up with me a second time.

I was charged a renewal fee though I only signed up for a one time 6 month subscription. They refused to refund me anything nor was I ever notified.
I purchased Date Night In a Box 4/10/19 on a special they ran for a discounted 6 month subscription rate. I signed up for just that subscription and didn't set up for a recurring subscription. At no point was I contacted about an upcoming renewal nor a notice that I was being charged or a receipt of purchase. They promptly send out notice every time a box is on the way, so there's no reason there shouldn't be some kind of information sent out. I noticed the charge of 239.00 on my account and promptly went to my account and saw that they had signed me up for a recurring subscription though I had never subscribed to that personally. I canceled this "subscription" and then contacted customer service to ask for a full refund because I hadn't signed up nor had I given approval for the purchase. They had no customer service phone number which is always a red flag for me with companies. I emailed them and they told me that I couldn't received any kind of a refund on the order because I had signed up for a subscription even though this wasn't in fact the case. They said that I had agreed to terms and conditions on purchase, even though this is not something that I had done in any way. The "alternative" was to postpone the shipments or change to a different box...like that's not helpful at all. I want my $300 back. When I emailed back to say this was completely unacceptable I received no response though the initial I'm sure pre typed denial response was instant.

The business actually sent me a refund today!

No way to cancel 2nd or future 3-month deliveries. Never any emails from the company.
I originally ordered a three month delivery of boxes. I never received any emails of the original order or shipment. I only received an email from ***. I wanted to cancel any future deliveries. I tried to access my account online, however, I couldn't get in with the password I use for accounts. I chose the forgot password option, entered my email address, and it said no account found. but the company does not have a phone number to call, the website mentions an email address "down below", but there is no email address on that page or anywhere to be found on the mobile page or the full website page, & I took pictures of the page. Then 2 days ago, I received another email from *** that a payment was authorized $132.30 for another 3 month delivery. I started a dispute with *** advising of the aforementioned. *** did stop all future payments to this company, but unfortunately, *** cannot refund me, it would have to come from this company. I will go through my credit card company next, if necessary.
Shifty company, I gave my email when I ordered, but no emails from them ever, my email could not be found, & there is no way to contact them to cancel.

I want a full refund of the $132.30.

The customer signed for an automatic renewing subscription of Date Night In Box using the email address ***. The customer reached out after their previously communicated and agreed upon renewal deadline for support with cancelling the automatic renewal feature. At that time the customer was provided with support with cancelling the automatic renewal feature.

Night In Boxes does not have the ability to update an email address associated with a customer's account without prior request. Night In Boxes did not search the internet and update the customer's email address associated with their subscription as suggested by the customer. If a change of email address would have been made to the customer's account, it would have been noted in the history log associated with the customer's account. It is the customer's responsibility to enter the correct contact information into their account in order to ensure accuracy of communication and shipping.

The customer had access to the Night In Boxes customer experience email prior to checkout and in the Night In Boxes terms and conditions. The customer had access to a "Support" widget on all webpages associated with any Night In Boxes product as well as through the help center. This widget is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with ability to send an email. This widget also supports live chat during the Night In Boxes post live chat hours. Customer also has the ability to contact Night In Boxes and its products through Facebook and Instagram. It is recommend that a customer keep browsers used for online shopping, up to date and that their cache is cleared to ensure accurate functionality on websites. The widget can be accessed from an apple or android product. see attached

All communications were sent to the customer via the email associated with their account.

Night In Boxes Customer Experience team offered to update the email address associated with the customer's account via email communications. The customer did not provide approval to the Night In Boxes Customer Experience team member to update the email address associated with their account, therefore the customer's account log-in information remains under the following email: ***

The customer is not due to receive a refund as they did not cancel nor did they request a cancellation of the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription until after their renewal deadline.

The customer's automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription was cancelled on 10/2/2019. The customer will not experience any future charges associated with their subscription. They are due to receive the shipments associated with their most recent renewal, which will be delivered around the 20th of the following months: October, November & December. Once the customer receives their final shipment in December, the customer's subscription will expire.
