I was blown away with the customer service that I was given by *** with Date Night In! We ordered a subscription and a Mystery Date Box so we could have a date night in sooner. Some things with the system had a small glitch so when I didn't receive my confirmation email of the box being shipped after 3 days *** apologized for the mix up let me know the package was going out the door that day and credited a date night in box for us in the future! I love companies that truly care about the customer and do whatever they can to provide an excellent service. Plus the boxes are amazing and fun to connect with your partner without the trouble of having to make plans, pay for a sitter, or even get out of your pjs!

This company has amazing customer service, I saw the 'Give Thanks' kids night in box on Instagram but it was past the date to order that theme. I e-mailed them and quickly received a response that I could still get that theme. I decided to order the date night in 'Giving Thanks' box as well, due to ***'s quick assistance the day before Thanksgiving! She even explained the auto renewal details so I wouldn't have an surprises, like I said in my e-mail "You rock ***"! If these boxes are as amazing as their customer service, then I can't wait to get them and experience both with my family! Thank you.

The Company Auto renews and will not return or cancel a subscription within three days of the order renewing.
And 2017 October I purchased a night in box for myself and my husband. I received a promo code that gave us a discount and decided to try it. I was very unsatisfied with the boxes but had ordered it for one year. Unbeknownst to me they auto renew and do not tell you about it except for in Fine Print when asked for a refund when noticed it came out of my Bank account the company refused to honor my request saying that I am stuck with this for another year. We did not like the boxes and we're stuck with it last year. This was in 24 hours of them taking the money out of my account. I feel that they should allow for refunds within a certain amount of time on the auto a new renewal process as they know most People are not going to see the fine print.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking a refund for the full amount of the night in a box year membership.

I made an online purchase for a wedding gift in June 2018, and received a "renewal subscription charge" in August 2018 for $120, never authorized!
I made an online purchase for a 1x 3 month shipment of "Date night in" boxes for an employee that got married. In ordering this, I was under the assumption it was a 1x order. In August 2018, I noticed a charge when logging onto my *** site to pay my bill that there was a charge pending for $120. I immediately notified the company and asked that they cancel any future shipments that I signed up for a 1x shipment. I was told that according to their terms and conditions they could not cancel because I should have let them know the day prior to the charge going thru. I informed them I would dispute thru *** The employee ***, was rude and belligerent, did not want to help. I was recited policies and terms. I asked for the shipment and future shipments to be cancelled. The company lied to *** and provide a bogus and vague contract that I "acknowledged" during the check out process. I have tried to discuss this matter with the company via phone, however, they have no customer service phone number. The number on my statement appears to be a voicemail that has not been set up as indicated by the message when you call it. (XXX-XXX-XXXX) When I reached out to the company today, they indicated that future responses would go unanswered that I am not getting my money back but I am still owed shipments until November. At this time I responded with an address to have legal documents served. Still have no response. The company is shady in its business practices and I was not made aware of any subscription service. I did not even get a receipt from the company to my email. I went back thru my emails for that day and week to see if I received any terms and conditions. And I did not.

I am looking for a billing adjustment credit of 120.00. Where a shipment was sent out this month, "because they couldnt cancel" I am fine paying for this month, HOWEVER, I am not willing to pay for October, or November. There has been ample time to cancel those said shipments. They are unwilling to help and use deceptive practices to earn business. There is no recourse or ways to reach out to the company. very deceptive and shady practices. I did not sign up for a renewal subscription and I was never made aware, when I registered for the gift It was advertised as a one time shipment for 3 months The documentation provided to *** was in my opinion bogus and doctored. The screen shots are blurry, and If I "signed up" for something I never received a copy of any terms as they have indicated. My brother is an attorney and if the matter is not resolved I plan on filing a motion with the court based on merit and principal. The company is difficult and unwilling to help.

Customer was provided with a partial refund due to purchase being a wedding gift for another household. Though this is not standard practice as it is against our policies we made an exception for this customer. Customer's refund was provide for 2 of the 3 boxes associated with their most recent renewal. Once the the first of three boxes is shipped, the customer's account will expire and no further shipments will be sent nor with the customer experience any future charges on their account.

The company refused to issue a refund for an UPCOMING subscription that I still have not received.
I purchased a "Date Night In" box 7/24/18. There were several purchase options, one of which was a "month to month" subscription. Typically with an online subscription of this type, you are given a notification when your credit card will be charged.

We did not receive our 7/24/18 order until the week of August 20th and had our first "date" that Saturday, August 25th. Two days later (8/27/18) we were charged for another box without any warning. I immediately went onto the website and cancelled my subscription, but the charge remained. 8/28/18 I contacted customer service and asked for a refund as we did not wish to receive any further boxes (we were very unsatisfied with the product). I was told that due to the "terms and services" that I agreed to, they would be unable to issue a refund. Their solution options were that I 1)gift my subscription to someone else, or 2)change my subscription to a "kids" box. We went back and forth about how ridiculous this was, but they still refused to issue a refund.

It is now 9/16/18 and I still have not even received the box that I was charged for on 8/27/18. They could have made this right but they refused. Simply terrible customer service.

we were charged for another box 2 days later. I thought this subscription was targeted for busy parents who don't have the time or capacity to go out on a real date. This is how you treat busy parents? I fully expect a refund as I am not interested in receiving additional products from your company.

Desired Outcome

As this point I feel I should be issued a refund AND an apology.

The customer purchased a Month-to-Month, auto-renewing subscription of Date Night In Box on 7/24/2018 *** This purchase was made after the our advertised monthly cut-off of the 13th of the month at 8:00pm EST. Therefore the customer's box was shipped in the next month's shipment cycle.

The customer's subscription renewed on 8/28/2018*** The customer cancelled their subscription at 4:43 PM*** on 8/28/2018 after their advertised and previously agreed upon renewal subscription term of 8:00 p.m. EST on the 27th of the final month of the customer's subscription term. Because the customer cancelled the automatic renewal feature after their subscription renewal date, they are not due to receive a refund according to our terms & conditions. (please note our renewal deadline will be represented in *** timezone in some references)

Note. You will see multiple the locations of where the auto-renewal feature is mentioned. You will also see that the customer is provided with an additional disclaimer and our customer service email address to provide assistance with the cancellation of this feature while going through the ordering process.

Finally, the customer is also reminded of the automatic renewal feature in their receipt email as well as the thank you for your purchase screen which pops up after every customer successfully purchases a subscription.

We can argue the "terms of service" back and forth forever. That is NOT the point. The point is I was clearly unaware of the terms when I made the purchase (maybe as a customer you should see how UNCLEAR your terms are) and I was unsatisfied with the product and did not want to receive another box. I was not asking for a refund on the product I had already received. I was simply asking for a refund for a product I had NOT received but has been billed for. It would have been a very simple fix to issue a refund and not send me any additional products. Why would you want to waste your product, waste your company workers time putting the product together, waste shipping money, etc, on someone who clearly does not want the product? It makes no sense.

With small children at home and full time job in *** , my husband and I could never find time or a sitter to just be with each other . We ordered the box for one month and then we had the option to order a box and not wait for regular shipping . We ordered both ! We got our first box within three days . We had NO idea what to expect and went into it completely open . They have added a menu , and a playlist on *** just as extra fun ! We had so much fun ! We built a fort , played a game , popped this really amazing popcorn and spent time together ! I wish we could go back and buy ALL the past boxes ! We haven't laughed that hard in ages ! I honestly can't thank Night in enough for the wonderful box ! Everything about it was just perfect ! Anxiously awaiting our next one !!
Oh ! And they also have a Christian version AND a Kids version ! We will be getting all three ! Give it a shot ! You won't regret it !

Service auto renewed. Money withdrawn from PayPal account. Refund denied.
This is so disappointing. Losing $239 right now for us is so hard. I signed up during a promo period and thought it was a one time subscription. I don't know how I missed it in the terms, except that I didn't think it applied the same as the normal one. We just have so much going on right now for me to be looking out for the date it would have renewed to make sure it wasn't going to.

Subscription renewal was cancelled prior to next shipment occurring. Company refuses to refund subscription charge.
On 7/27/18, I noticed an authorization on my credit card for a subscription renewal with this company. The original subscription 3 months ago, and we did not want to continue the subscription. I contacted the company on 7/29/18 after cancelling my subscription online to confirm that they would be refunding/removing the authorization placed on 7/27/18 since no product fulfillment had occurred yet. I was told they would not be refunding or removing the authorization even though my subscription was now cancelled and no shipment had occurred yet. This is sleazy business practice. No notification was sent prior to the card authorization being placed on 7/27/18.

Desired Outcome

I simply want the refund processed for the charges authorized on 7/27/18. No product has been shipped for this service period, and I do not want any further shipments from this company.

No issues resolved. Customer friendly response would be to refund given that products were not yet shipped for the service period. This is intentional practice to scam consumers, they do not email or notify of upcoming subscription renewals, banking on the fact that consumers may forget to cancel in time. The only fitting resolution is a refund.

It is also suggested that the customer can log into their account and cancel their subscription.

The customer will not be provided a refund as requested due failure to cancel their subscription prior to the renewal deadline.

Refusing to refund for unopened and unsent products
I have canceled a subscription but the company claims that I am too late in my cancelation.

I will receive three boxes of a product I do not want and pay for them all. One has been delivered but not opened and so I should be able to return. The other two have not even been shipped and so should not be sent and I should be refunded for these.

This company has forced me to pay for a product I don't not wish to purchase. They do this though a deceptive unsubscribe policy deadline loophole. Completely unreasonable.

I also have a screen shot of my account that gave me the impression that my subscription was cancelled on time.

They refuse to help even though they admit my account info through their website was inaccurate. They have not helped at all. I expect a full refund.

The subscription policy was deceptive. I only willingly agreed to 3 months. My account did NOT show that I was going to be charged for and sent another 3 months worth of products. I did cancel and my account never showed any additional purchases beyond the initial subscription. This is very deceptive and I am certain it is by design. The policy is also absolutely unreasonable. I do not like your product. I told you not to send it to me anymore but instead this company insists on continuing to send me something I don't want and charge me. There is no good reason for that and I find it completely unacceptable.

The customer was provided with knowledge of the automatic renewal feature during the checkout process. This feature is mentioned five different times along with a disclaimer that provides the tools to assist the customer in cancelling this feature in the checkout process.

The customer also agreed to use our services under the terms and conditions prior to submitting their payment. Under the terms and conditions, the customer is made aware that if their automatic renewal feature is not cancelled prior to the automatic renewal deadline, they will not be refunded for the renewal. It is also mentioned that though the automatic renewal feature has been cancelled, that the customer is still owed the products associated with their most recent automatic renewal.

After the customer receives the last shipment associated with their automatic renewal, the customer's subscription will expire and they will no longer receive shipments from Night In Boxes nor will their card be charged again.

The customer will not be provided with a refund as it is Night In Boxes final decision on the customer's account.

My husband and I have loved Date Night In boxes. They have caused us to do things together we wouldn't normally do and are such a great alternative to turning on a tv show. The menu pairings are so great! And I love that every thing you need comes straight to your house and is ready to use! I have recommended this to many friends and am excited to see what comes next month. I had an issue with a box that happened in transit and had fantastic customer service in regard to this problem.

The term on the product I chose did not say subscription renewal and yet I was charged a subscription renewal.
I purchased a 3 month pre pay date nigh package for my wife's anniversary present. I assumed, by the wording of the product type and the term saying 3 month pre pay that I would receive 3 months of date boxes and if I wanted to buy more that I could once that term had ended. I was then sent a fourth box, I checked my bank statement and saw that I'd been charged a subscription renewal of $120. I looked for a customer service number to call to report this issue and there is conveniently no phone number of any kind on their website. I sent in an email and was told that unfortunately I wasn't entitled to a refund because I did not cancel my 'subscription' before the 28th of the month. I said I never chose a subscription I only pre payed for 3 months. I was told 'that's unfortunate' but we have included a couple of attachments showing where we said this was a subscription before I bought it. Before I could respond again I was given a survey to take to rate the customer service and when I went to take the survey it said that the ticket had been closed and I was unable to take the survey. I am completely upset over the fact that they deceptively put 3month pre pay as the term of the product and the item description knowing full well that customers would choose it because they thought they could trial it out BEFORE getting a subscription. It was complete false advertising on their part not to use the word subscription when describing the product and term because they wanted you to enter your CC information hoping you would't see the small subscription box before submitting your order and that way you wouldn't know to cancel and thus be charged for future boxes. If they were not trying to be deceitful then they would have used the word subscription in the term description which they did NOT. It's clearly a scam so that they can get the $120 and then hide behind a bunch of emails saying 'here's some attachments showing you that the word 'subscription' was at least on the page somewhere'.

Desired Outcome

I would like a full refund of the $120 I was charged for the subscription renewal and for the 3month pre pay option that I chose to say 3 month subscription so that other people are fully aware that they will be automatically charged if they do not go in and cancel.

In order to provide further transparency to Date Night In (Night In Boxes) customers the Date Night In (Night In Boxes) Customer Experience team has updated many communications and continues to update communications to customers in the form of Welcome emails, Cancellation emails, Receipts, Customer Experience team responses by email, improvement of help center articles, provided more details in social media response and more.

Date Night In(Night In Boxes) Customer Experience inquiries are solely handled by email at this time. This decision has been made to assist in creating trackable documentation of communications between the customer and Date Night In(Night In Boxes) Customer Experience team.

Since the customer signed up for their Date Night In(Night In Boxes) subscription, we have updated the terms & conditions to be more clear and further transparent to the customer.

In regard to customer's concern of rating their experience, if the customer sent multiple email requests, the Date Night In(Night In Boxes) Customer Experience team is trained to merge all active tickets into one to provide the most accurate and complete response to the customer. If the customer attempts to provide a rating on a ticket that has been closed due to the merging of multiple tickets they will experience an issue in providing the a rating on the "merged tickets". However, the customer should automatically receive an email with the option to rate their experience with a member of the Customer Experience team in regard to their active ticket. Date Night In(Night In Boxes) Customer Experience Team would like to look further into this issue if the customer can provide the email associated with the correspondence in question.

The use of the words "subscription" and "automatic renewal" in various forms are used in the Date Night In (Night In Boxes) check out process/cart feature many times. The use of the word "subscription" is used 7 times and the use of "automatic renewal" in it's various forms (auto-renewing, automatically renew" is used 3 times in the check out process/cart feature.

In addition, the customer is provided the following warnings at check out that clearly state that their means of payment will continued to be charged unless action by the customer is taken:

"By clicking 'Pay Now' you consent to us charging your card for the subscription level you have selected. We will continue to charge your card unless you cancel your subscription with us."

"By clicking on Checkout, you confirm that you accept our Terms of Service; that your subscription will automatically renew based on the subscription billing period. Your credit card will automatically be charged the subscription feed until you cancel your subscription."

Date Night In has always provided great boxes! I love getting an amazing date curated for my husband and I each month. Their customer service team is prompt to answer any questions! This is a great company and I'm proud to be their customer!

I love Date Night In! My only complaint would be that their shipping is a bit erratic. I'd love it if I could count on it shipping the same day each month. Obviously I know they can't control what happens once the boxes leave their warehouse, so I'm not saying I'd like a guaranteed "it'll be on your doorstep each month on the 10th" or anything unreasonable. But it would be nice to have it shipped the same day each month.

HORRIBLE REFUND & AUTO RENEW POLICY
Just like the other complaints on this site, I was "duped" by this company out of $120. They purposefully hide their auto renew policy and don't send out any reminders about the auto renew...instead they just surprise their customers with a charge to their account. Then they hold the money hostage, refusing the refund. If you want to SPEAK with someone about it, you're out of luck because they don't have a customer service phone number. After further review of email communications between Date Night In(Night In Boxes)Customer Experience team and customer, Date Night In(Night In Boxes) extended a partial refund in the amount of $80 as the customer expressed personal financial hardships.

Automatically auto-renewed without warning pulling funds from my account with no refund available.
Automatically auto-renewed without warning pulling funds from my account with no refund available. No email saying my account was auto-renewing to their most expensive "package" after my 3 month special trial via Facebook. Automatically pulled funds and when I emailed to tell them I needed to cancel and didn't want the renewal they said "you checked the box to auto renew and we will not give you a refund."

Desired Outcome

A refund of the amount they auto-renewed.

Customer cancelled subscription on 5/29/2018 at 9:48am. This cancellation occurred after the advertised renewal deadline of prior to the 28th of the last month of the customer's subscription term.

Date Night In (Night In Boxes) has communicated to customer via email regarding reasons for account renewal and that customer will not be granted a refund, however, will still receive the remainder of shipments associated with their most recent renewal.

Customer was made aware of auto renewal feature of account in 4 locations in the check out process/cart feature. Customer is required to select a check box agreeing to Date Night In(Night In Boxes) terms & conditions prior to submitting payment.

By customer agreeing to Date Night In(Night In Boxes) terms & conditions prior to their purchase, the customer takes full responsibility of activities on their account and agrees to the auto renewal terms.

Date Night In(Night In Boxes) term & conditions also states that the remainder of the shipments associated with renewals that were cancelled after the cancellation deadline, are still due to the customer.

Very deceptive in that they renew your account and charge your card without clear warning.
The website gives several options for how many date night in boxes you want to buy. I purchased what I thought was only 3 boxes. After the 3 were sent, they then renewed my account for another 3 more boxes. The site is very unclear that this will be the case. When I contacted them regarding cancellation and a refund, they indicated that they would not refund my money.

I do not want the remaining boxes sent to me and just want a refund or even partial refund. The layout and wording of their checkout process is completely deceiving and a quick search of reviews of the company will show that there are many who have been deceived.

The auto renewal function is clearly stated in numerous places during the Date Night In/Night In Boxes cart feature/check out process.

It is also mentioned in the Date Night In/Night In Boxes cart feature/check out process that the customer must cancel their subscription in order to prevent future auto renewals.

By agreeing to the terms & conditions, customer assumes all responsibility of the activities on their account.

By law Date Night In/Night In Boxes must provide the customer with the purchased product and cannot stop shipments.

Date Night In/Night In Boxes will not be initiating a refund to the customer.
