This company auto renewed a subscription that I was not aware was going to be auto renewed. 259.91 was taken from my bank account, they won't refund.
On 2/14/19 I signed up online to receive 6 "Date nights in a box" I had a coupon as well which I used thinking this could be a fun Valentine's Day present for my husband and I. I received the 6 date boxes. On August 31st I logged into my *** account to pay for something unrelated to this. At that time I noticed that "Cratejoy" had taken 259.91 for my *** account on August 27th 2019. I attempted to contact the company immediately but as it was a long holiday weekend I was unable to reach anyone until Tuesday 9/3/19. They only provide customer service through "life chat" texting and there is no phone number where anyone can talk to me. The representative Shelly R. Informed me that the subscription was auto renewed and they would not offer a refund". I informed her that I wanted to cancel my service and have it refunded she told me she had to pass the information on to someone higher up, who would then contact me via e-mail. On 9/3/19 at 5:13pm EST O received an e-mail from someone named Stephanie C. She said she understands that many people do not know about the auto renewal and then she provided me a long, what I can only guess is a scripted response regarding their auto renewal policy and again refused to offer a refund. She states I can change my subscription to a "kids night" in box if I want or put it on hold or send my boxes to a different address. Those are my only options. I have ZERO RECOLLECTION of being informed that this subscription would auto renew and even after reading the attachments she sent me they don't look familiar to me at all. I was given NO information or chance to cancel my subscription prior to this "auto renewal" and $259.91 is a LOT of money that my family can not afford to pay for an item we don't want. I would think at the very least a company should notify me that a large chunk of money is about to be taken from me if I don't cancel a subscription (which I wasn't even aware o was in). Is there not clause someplace that says a buyer has three days to retune or cancel a product? I have been trying since I was aware the money was taken from my account to get in touch with a human being that will offer refund option to me but can't find anyone who will test me as a person and listen to me and help me on this. I feel that I was COMPLETELY BLINDSIDED and taken advantage of by this company. Please can someone help me get a refund from this company for money that I did not knowingly authorize for them to take take from me?

The customer was provided with multiple communications and warnings regarding the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription throughout the checkout process and immediately after completing their purchase.

The checkout screen provided multiple warnings along with steps on how to cancel the automatic renewal feature. Additionally they were provided an email to contact the Night In Boxes Customer Experience team prior to checkout. The customer had the option to remove the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription prior to check out but did not choose that option. see attached.

The customer was required to agree to the Night In Boxes terms and conditions prior to signing up for their subscription.

After completing the purchase the customer received three additional communications regarding the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription: the order confirmation page, the receipt email and the welcome email.

The customer received communications on a monthly basis from Night In Boxes regarding their shipment. Through the shipping confirmation emails, the customer was provided with access to logging into their account for additional details associated with their date. In the customer account that was created by customer during the checkout process, the customer could access all details associated with their subscription including but not limited to their future renewal date, ability to skip a renewal feature, ability to cancel their renewal feature, update their address and subscription term.

As stated in the Night In Boxes terms and conditions, the customer must cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription prior to their renewal deadline to prevent Night In Boxes from renewing their subscription. If the customer does not cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription they will not be provided with a refund, however, will be shipped the remaining balance of boxes associated with their subscription associated with their most recent renewal.

Once a customer's subscription goes from "active" to "cancelled" the customer will not longer experience charges from Night In Boxes. The customer's automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription was successfully cancelled on 9/3/19. The customer will not experience future charges from Night In Boxes.

The customer's first communication was received by the Night In Boxes customer experience team on Sunday, 9/1/19. As posted in the Night In Boxes help center, the hours of operations are Monday - Friday via email and live chat. Additionally, the holiday closures are posted in the Night In Boxes help center.

The customer's subscription renewed on 8/28/19. The customer's cancellation request was not submitted to Night In Boxes until 2 days after the customer's renewal occurred, therefore, as stated in the terms and conditions, the customer is not due to receive a refund.

SUBSCRIPTION AND AUTOMATIC RENEWAL TERMS

Night In Boxes offers various subscription term lengths (month-to-month, three-month, six-month & twelve-month subscriptions). The price varies based on the term length renewal option you choose. By purchasing a subscription, you agree and acknowledge that your subscription will be automatically renewed for another term (based on the subscription term length you selected with your initial purchase) and will continue to do so until you cancel your subscription. Your payment method will automatically be charged for each successive term period at the then-current subscription rate without further authorization from you until you cancel your subscription renewal. You agree that such notice will not affect charges submitted before Night In Boxes was notified. All subscriptions renew on the 27th at 7PM EST (8 PM EST during Daylight Savings) of the final month of your subscription term. You accept responsibility for all recurring charges prior to cancellation, including, where applicable, any charges processed by Night In Boxes after the expiration date of your payment card.

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR SUBSCRIPTION RENEWALS

To cancel your subscription at any time, you may (i) log in to your account and follow the cancellation procedures there, or (ii) send us a message at [email protected], and we will send you instructions to help you cancel. If you cancel, you may use your subscription until the end of your then-current subscription term. You will still receive the dates left in your subscription term, but will not be charged again for a new subscription. Customers are responsible for making all account updates prior to the subscription renewal deadline associated with their term. You must cancel PRIOR to the 27th at 7PM EST (8 PM EST during Daylight Savings) of the final month of your subscription term in order to not be charged for your renewal subscription.

REFUND, RETURN, EXCHANGE & REPLACEMENT POLICY

With respect to subscription renewals, one-time boxes, e-gift cards, add-on items, and any other products purchased from Night In Boxes, all sales are final. Refunds will not be granted once a subscription plan has renewed on the 27th at 7PM EST (8 PM EST during Daylight Savings) of the final month of your subscription term nor will they be granted after a customer's shipment has shipped. All cancellations must take place prior to renewal and all cancellations from then on, will take effect on the subscriber's next scheduled renewal.

Night In Boxes does not allow nor accept any returns or exchanges. We do not accept nor will refunds be granted for any shipments that are refused by the recipient or returned to sender. Replacements may be granted at the sole discretion of Night In Boxes. Returning a product to Night In Boxes without authorization will not result in a refund or exchange, and the customer will be responsible for any additional shipping charges that are incurred by Night In Boxes as a result. Automatic renewal without warning
I signed up for a six month trial. I then notice the substantial charge on my credit charge that I did not expect. I emailed to explain my situation, that I could not afford such a charge, and asked for the cancellation to take place. I even offered to pay for the single box that might have been on it's way. Stephanie - Asst Mgr., who was emailing me, refused to help in any way.

While customer experience is of the utmost importance to Night In Boxes, the terms and conditions the customer was required to agreed to prior to signing up for their subscription are strictly adhered to.

When signing up for their subscription, the customer was provided multiple warnings that their subscription would automatically renew. At checkout the customer was provided with suggested steps to cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription. Additionally, the following is included on the checkout screen right before the customer submits their order as an additional warning regarding the automatic renewal feature.

"By clicking 'Pay Now' you consent to us charging your card for the subscription level you have selected. We will continue to charge your card unless you cancel your subscription with us."

At the time the customer signed up for their subscription, they had the option during the checkout process to select a non-renewing, one time gift subscription. The customer did not select that option and signed up for an automatic renewing subscription.

The customer was provided with additional warnings regarding the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription in the order confirmation page, welcome email and receipt emails. The customer had access to making adjustments to subscription terms, product type, shipping address, skipping as well as cancelling the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription in their customer portal they created during the checkout process. The customer was encouraged to visit their customer portal in the welcome, receipt and shipping confirmation emails they received.

According to the terms and conditions that the customer agreed to prior to signing up for their subscription, the customer is not due to receive a refund on their renewal as their cancellation did not occur until after their previously communicated and agreed upon renewal deadline of 7/28/2019. The customer cancelled the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription on 8/9/19, 12 days after their renewal occurred. Once a customer has cancelled the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription, they are no due a refund on their most recent purchase, however are owed the remaining balance of shipments. These shipments will be sent to the customer on a monthly basis until their subscription officially expires. Once an automatic renewal feature associated with a customer's subscription has gone from "active" status to a "cancelled" status, the customer will no longer experience charges from Night In Boxes on the payment method associated with their subscription.

Would give zero stars if possible. As other reviewers have mentioned, this business relies solely on scamming you by their "auto-renew" feature. I used a gift card given to me to purchase the original boxes. However, I was required to put my credit card on file to even submit the order. A little strange since my credit card wasn't even being used for the purchase. Come to find out MONTHS later, that my purchase was "auto renewed" and I was charged almost $200 for more boxes that I did NOT approve or want. Do not buy these boxes unless you want to be scammed out of hundreds of dollars for date nights that you could buy at the dollar store. Customer service refuses to refund the "auto renew" once they charge you. No email or notice is given to this feature, you apparently agree to it once you purchase your initial set of boxes. Extremely sneaky and deceitful company.

We do our best to provide customers with several reminders concerning the automatic renewal feature associated with the purchase of a subscription. The purchaser of the gift card given to you was provided with these details and are recommended to warn the gift recipient that the e-gift card is used towards an automatic renewing subscription.

I am so sorry to hear that, that communication did not make it to you, and that you felt misinformed. There was a way for you to remove the automatic renewal feature associated with the subscription prior to making the purchase. We include multiple warning during the checkout process, order confirmation page, welcome and receipt emails to give a heads up and confirm that indeed you have used your gift card towards the purchase of an automatic renewing subscription. We will work to improve our systems limitations and work towards being further transparent to our customers.

Customer experience is of extreme importance to us, however, our Terms and Conditions that were agreed to prior to signing up for your subscription are strictly adhered to.

Subscription service renews with no notice and no receipts, yet customer services tells you they wont cancel or refund your money.
I was charged $254.54 on 6/27 according to my bank for this subscription renewal. I never received any notification emails that my subscription renewal was approaching nor any receipts after they charged me to renew this subscription. I promptly cancelled my service as I do not wish to receive these and contacted customer service. They (*** r.) told me they would not issue me a refund because it was "in the terms you agreed to" 6+months ago when I signed up. That is a very large chunk of money to be charged with no notice and no receipt. They escalated my complaint to someone higher (*** c.) and they said the same thing, no refund but offered to change my subscription to the "Kids box" instead which came off extremely passive aggressive and condescending. No other subscription company I have ever gotten from has ever neglected to send out notifications of renewal or receipts for renewal. Absolutely ridiculous to be charged over $250 for something I do not want and did not realize my renewal date was approaching to cancel it before they charged my bank account. I'm beyond disgusted with this company. Now I'm stuck with a $254 charge and more boxes I DO NOT WANT to be delivered to me over the course of the next 6 months. The customer signed up for an automatic renewing subscription of Date Night In Box. At checkout, the customer had the option to sign up for a one-time purchase of the subscription, to prevent automatic renewal, however, the customer did not select that option. The customer was warned about the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription multiple time throughout the checkout process as well as was required to agree to the Night In Boxes terms and conditions prior to checkout. The customer was warned additionally about the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription on the order confirmation page, receipt and welcome emails. The customer had the ability to access their future renewal deadlines, postpone their renewal and cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription from the customer account they created at checkout. During the checkout process the customer was also provided with suggested steps on how to cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription. They also were provided with the email address to contact the Night In Boxes customer experience team for support in cancelling the feature.
Due to the Night In Boxes terms and conditions, the customer is not due to receive a refund as they did not cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription. However, they are due to receive the remaining shipments associated with their most recent renewal. Once the customer's automatic renewal feature status shows "cancelled" the customer will no longer experience charges from Night In Boxes.

and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Date Night In boxes and look forward to each month for our new adventure! Our favorite so far is the one on "Foundations". Our marriage hasn't been the best for a few months and we were at an end. When we sat down to do "foundations" it opened our hearts, minds and souls again. We remembered who was the foundation of our marriage and our individual lives, GOD!!! The ladder/lantern that we built wasn't perfect and had holes and sticks falling off. We built it into a triangle to remind us it takes 3 in a marriage, not 2 or 4. It reminded is WE are not perfect and we fall and we have holes in us. And that's OK. We have started opening up with each other just communicating each night before bed. Reminding each other why we fell in love and what about the other person we love. Date Night In has helped us in so many ways and I cannot THANK YOU enough!!! It can become a bit pricey, but my love for God and my husband is priceless!!!

The product the customer has mentioned above did not come incomplete. The Date Night In Box theme that the customer is referencing was a Sensing More date box.

This box was designed for couples to experience their date with all of their senses. Typically, each Date Night In Box comes with a printed insert, but with this box, the team created an audio guide. The customer was provided with the following link in their shipping confirmation email https://www.datenightinbox.com/themes and was guided to locate the theme of their box for additional links.

When the customer accessed the Sensing More theme they are provided with links to all items that they will need to successfully complete their date. https://www.datenightinbox.com/sensing-more

Below the audio insert, the customer is provided with the ability to view a pdf of the audio insert in digital form. The customer was not satisfied with this option as they did not want to use a device during their date. Date Night In Box provides digital links each month to support the Date Night In Box experience. The dates are advertised to included digital components on a monthly basis.

Night In Boxes does not have a printed version an insert to send to the customer as there is not printed document in our inventory to send to the customer.

Date Night In Box does not guarantee that a printed insert will be included in each box, however, wanted to make certain that all couples were able to successfully complete the date if the audio guide did not suit them.

The customer requested a partial refund. Night In Boxes does not provide refunds on dissatisfaction, however, a small refund was provided to cover the printing costs if the customer chose to print the digital insert at home.

Damaged or Incomplete Shipment

Night In Boxes will replace missing or damaged products included in your box. During the normal course of operations, sometimes items are missed. Please contact Night In Boxes Customer Experience team by email with photo documentation of damaged or incomplete shipment must be provided. Your refund policy doesn't apply since I was told that I would receive one. Clearly this company is a scam and I will do what I can to inform as many people as I can about this. I was offered a refund and was given $0.50 of my $160 purchase. I guess that's on me for trusting this company more than I should have and not clarifying exactly what amount the refund would be for.

If the customer was told by a member of the Night In Boxes team that they would receive a printed insert in every box, that information was incorrect. Though most boxes come with a printed insert, Night In Boxes does change it up how box experiences are led from time to time.

Night In Boxes does apologize for any confusion this must have caused the customer. This mix up has been brought to the attention of the Night In Boxes customer experience team for the purposes of training and improvements.

Night In Boxes attempted to provide the customer with alternative resolutions.

I gave both my son and girlfriend and daughter and son-in-law a subscription for several months of "Date Night" boxes as a holiday gift. They have thoroughly enjoyed them. I think the box activities are creative and a great conversation starters.

This company provides very low quality (and quantity) products for the price spent. I could have purchased these items for less at a store near me.
I just received my first box from Date Night In and my recommendation: don't waste your money. This box is $41.99 a month. This was literally what was in this tiny box-- 5 small chocolates, a small bottle of massage oil, a few small wax candles, and two of the company's pens. I could have bought all these items at *** for less than $10, yet this company had me spend $41.99. I cancelled my account and contacted the company with my concerns regarding this horrible first impression. Instead of being helpful on how can we improve customer service to keep a customer, they were not helpful at all.

Desired Outcome

I feel I deserve a refund or at least a percentage back for the lack of quality or quantity in product. This was a huge waste of money. I truly feel as if this box had no care or heart into making it. Not at all worth the price of the box.

The attached document shows the low quality items included in the box. The response from the company is not fully accurate to the quality of the items. After the initial email from the company, I emailed them again and they did not include any follow up. With this said. I attempted to write a review on their Facebook page. They show on their website reviews from customers on Facebook, yet there is nowhere to write a review on their Facebook. Instead, I wrote my review straight on their Facebook page since there isn't a review section. Instead of addressing my review or private messaging a response, the company decided to delete my review and block me from their page. They continued to lack customer service skills. Very poor customer service with low quality items tells me they do not value their customers and should not be in business.

The company continues to copy and paste their terms and agreements instead of addressing me as a person and focusing on my specific complaints or how they would make it right. This company is THE WORST! They will renew your subscriptions after you have cancelled and then will NOT refund you! They make you get all of the boxes in the subscription! We've only completed one date night box so far but have two more sitting in our mudroom waiting for us. The product was fine and fun for my husband and I to do together. For this box, you built a structure with popsicle sticks and then another structure with straws to symbolize your "foundation of love." Sweet idea but also kinda just junk and clutter, similar to the clutter you're already fitting from creeping into your house from your kids. We do not have a *** subscription and couldn't figure out how to listen to the playlist for free. The recipes looked delicious but we did not try them. We'll make an effort for the next date box to be more prepared and replicate the playlist on a music service we have.

My only real feedback relates to the functionality of the website. I wish the "my account" section provided a bit more details in regards to when your boxes will ship and when your membership will auto-renew. I receive emails whenever a box is shipped but no email notification that my account is about to be renewed and my credit card will be charged. It would be nice to have a little bit of heads up. When chatting with customer service, they were very polite and informative. They offered me other options for my subscription but a refund was not one of them.

They're hoping you forget to cancel before they can charge you again! The product itself is so-so. Its a nice idea, but it takes some time to figure out what it is they want you to do with the stuff they send.

The real treat is when they surprise you with another several hundred dollar charge 6 months after you make the initial purchase, then refuse to consider refunding you.

An honest company would notify you that a charge is coming and bet on the quality of their product to win you over. A dishonest company, like this one, will take your money without any regard for you.

At checkout there was also an option to select a one-time, non-renewing subscription instead of any automatic renewing subscription. This feature was made available in October 2018 in an effort to suit the needs of all of our customers.

Boxes were not satisfactory. I cancelled before the next shipment went out and they charged me anyway and refused any refund.
I purchased a 3 month subscription of their "Date Night Boxes" as a gift for my husband. We did not like the boxes at all (never even opened the second two months). They are cheaply put together and a waste of money. I was unaware it was an automatically renewing subscription & I was charged for ANOTHER 3 months. I contacted them the same day and asked to cancel and be refunded. They completely refused. I was charged $120. Nothing had been shipped, yet they refused to cancel my subscription & refund my money. I had to cancel my debit card to avoid anymore charges and I lost $120 for NOTHING. The company doesn't even have a contact phone number and refused to call when I provided my own phone number in an email. I would like to see this horrible business practice stopped. This has happened to many other customers. When I attempted to comment on their Facebook page (to warn potential customers and help them avoid being scammed) they blocked me.

Desired Outcome

Refund of $120. It will have to be a check, because I cancelled my debit card thanks to this issue. This has caused huge inconvenience which I did not appreciate.

They took my money for something I told them over and over I did NOT want. I asked for the refund the day I was charged, before anything had been shipped. This company charged my Visa on an auto renewal for 3 months based on an order from last December. I haven't received anything and am out $120.
Last December I ordered a 3 month date night in kit for my husband for Christmas. Last week, on March 7, 2019, I checked my *** account, like I regularly do, and saw that they charged my *** $120. I immediately emailed them and asked them to credit and told them I was not interested in their product currently. They told me they couldn't refund any. I emailed them again yesterday (3/11/219) and asked for a partial refund. They again said no and told me that "this is our final decision in the matter". I told them via email that I would be contacting the Revdex.com and my Visa company, due to the fact that they charged my card so quickly and early, with no services.

Desired Outcome

I would be fine for a partial credit. If they want to send one box for the month of March, that's fine, but credit me back for the other two...months April and May. The total for all three is $120 which is pretty high, so I would like at least $80 back for the two boxes.

According to the terms and conditions that the customer agreed to prior to signing up for their Night In Boxes subscription, the cancellation of the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription must take place prior to their renewal deadline in order to prevent the renewal from occurring.

Also, the terms and conditions state that customers will not receive a refund on renewals that have already occurred, however, will receive the remaining balance of shipments owed that are associated with their most recent renewal.

Because the customer did not cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription prior to their renewal deadline, they are not due to receive a refund as stated in the Night In Boxes terms and conditions. I never would have bought it if it hadn't been for the gift card my friend sent me. They charged my card without my permission and refuse to refund.
This is an awful, overpriced product. I never would have bought it if it hadn't been for the gift card that my friend sent me. I mean seriously- $50 for toothpicks, straws, candy, and a pen in the box I received? I could have gone to Target and bought these same products for 20% of the price. Absolutely ridiculous. Very shady that they make gift card redeemers sign up with a credit card. I regret even redeeming that gift card. I should have just let it go unused because now I'm out $34.

When redeeming the value of the e-gift card code on the purchase of a subscription, the customer must add credit card information in order to sign up for the subscription.

The customer was provided with multiple automatic renewal reminders throughout the checkout process along with in the "Thank you" for your purchase screen that pops up after the customer submits their purchase, in their Welcome email and Receipt email. The customer also had access to their subscription details along with their automatic renewal deadline in the customer account they created when signing up for their subscription. Access to the account is provided in the customer's welcome email along with shipping confirmation email.

The customer cancelled the automatic renewal feature associated with their Date Night In Box subscription on 3/1/2019 @ 6:27 PM UTC after their renewal deadline, therefore are due to receive the shipment associated with their most recent renewal. The automatic renewal feature was successfully cancelled and their payment method will not experience future charges. Their subscription will expire after receiving their March 2019 shipment.

SUBSCRIPTION AND AUTOMATIC RENEWAL TERMS
Night In Boxes offers various subscription term lengths (month-to-month, three-month, six-month & twelve-month subscriptions). The price varies based on the term length renewal option you choose. By purchasing a subscription, you agree and acknowledge that your subscription will be automatically renewed for another term (based on the subscription term length you selected with your initial purchase) and will continue to do so until you cancel your subscription. Your payment method will automatically be charged for each successive term period at the then-current subscription rate without further authorization from you until you cancel your subscription renewal. You agree that such notice will not affect charges submitted before Night In Boxes was notified. All subscriptions renew on the 27th 8PM EST (7 PM EST during Daylight Savings) of the final month of your subscription term. You accept responsibility for all recurring charges prior to cancellation, including, where applicable, any charges processed by Night In Boxes after the expiration date of your payment card.

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR SUBSCRIPTION RENEWALS
To cancel your subscription at any time, you may (i) log in to your account and follow the cancellation procedures there, or (ii) send us a message at [email protected], and we will send you instructions to help you cancel. If you cancel, you may use your subscription until the end of your then-current subscription term. You will still receive the dates left in your subscription term, but will not be charged again for a new subscription. Customers are responsible for making all account updates prior to the subscription renewal deadline associated with their term. You must cancel PRIOR to the 27th 8PM EST (7 PM EST during Daylight Savings) of the final month of your subscription term in order to not be charged for your renewal subscription.

REFUND, RETURN, EXCHANGE & REPLACEMENT POLICY
With respect to subscription renewals, refunds may not be granted once a subscription plan has renewed on the 27th 8PM EST (7 PM EST during Daylight Savings) of the final month of your subscription term. All cancellations must take place prior to renewal and all cancellations from then on, will take effect on the subscriber's next scheduled renewal. Night In Boxes does not allow any returns or exchanges. We do not accept nor will refunds be granted for any shipments that are refused by the recipient or returned to sender. Replacements may be granted at the sole discretion of Night In Boxes. If you need assistance, reach out within 10 days of shipment arrival to [email protected] to present your request. Missing product: Night In Boxes will replace product missing from a date. During the normal course of operations, sometimes items are missed. If this happens, reach out to the support email address above and notify our team. Refunds will not be given for dissatisfaction of the date activity. I do not agree whatsoever. I was never informed of any agreed upon terms for renewal. I also NEVER received an email with notification that I was going to be charged. For anything else that I've ever had a subscription, I've been notified within 24-48 hours before my card was going to be charged. I didn't receive anything from Date Night in a Box. The company has now blocked me from their social media pages. What does that say about their practices? It shows that they know I'm correct, and they don't want others to know the truth. It is costing them more money in manhour time to process this complaint. If they would just refund my $34. I won't say another word and will leave them alone going forward. I just want them to realize that they are tricking their customer base and sending out overpriced "products" (if you can even call a box of straws, popsicle sticks, and toothpicks a product). I cannot believe others have fallen for this scam. Again, refund my money, and I'll leave them alone.

At checkout the customer was provided with the opportunity to select an automatic renewing and non-renewing subscription. The customer selected the automatic renewing subscription at checkout and therefore gave Night In Boxes the permission to continue charging their card for future renewals unless the cancellation of the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription occurred prior to their renewal deadline.

The customer was provided reminders of the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription throughout the checkout process, in the welcome email, receipt email, thank you for your purchase screen, as well as the e-gift card communication that was presented to the purchaser of the e-gift card. In the e-gift card communication, it is suggested that this communication be shared with the e-gift card recipient as there are mentioned steps on how to prevent an automatic renewal when redeeming the e-gift card code, as well as a clear warning that their subscription will renew if it is not cancelled prior to their renewal deadline.

The customer had access to steps on how to cancel the automatic renewal associated with their subscription in the checkout screen as well.

The customer also had direct access to our Customer Experience team through the "Support" icon on the bottom right corner of the screen on every page of our website if they had any additional questions before signing up. Where the customer could have emailed or reviewed help center articles prior to checkout.

The customer was encouraged to log into their account through their shipping confirmation email to access additional links associated with their date where they had access to all details associated with their subscription. When logging into their account, they were able to see their automatic renewal deadline associated with their subscription on the landing page where the support links for their date were included.

Because the customer agreed to the terms and conditions of the Night In Boxes subscription service, they are not due to receive a refund.

Please the attached checkout screen comparison for selecting a renewing or non-renewing subscription with warnings for the customer regarding the renewal, along with the detailed instructions that the e-gift card purchaser were encourage to share with the recipient of the e-gift card code.

Every subscription service I've ever belonged to gave a courtesy reminder when they were going to charge a card. This company charges with no warning.
I bought a three month trial subscription. At that time they said it would renew in three months. I never received any other communication to remind me or reiterate that it would renew. It just seems as though they don't send a courtesy email as a way of tricking people into renewing. I emailed and asked to cancel as their product hadn't shipped yet. I was told my complaint was being elevated to management, but never heard another peep. It is bad business to trick people and hen ignore their complaints/concerns.

Send courtesy email reminders when subscriptions are going to renew.

The customer purchased a 3-Month, automatic renewing subscription of Date Night In Box on *** 2018. There is/was the ability for the customer to set up their subscription as a non-renewing subscription however the customer did not set up the their subscription as such.

The customer was warned multiple times throughout the checkout process, on the "Thank you for your purchase" screen which immediately pops up after completing their purchase, in their emailed receipt, along with the ability to access all account details inclusive of their renewal deadline in their customer portal (account) which they have to setup in order to purchase a Date Night In Box subscription. Access to their account login is provided in the "Welcome Email" which the customer receives after setting up their subscription.

Steps on how to cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with all automatic renewing subscriptions are provided at checkout along with in the terms and conditions and listed on the help center. The customer was given access to contact the Night In Boxes Customer Experience team prior to making their purchase both through live chat and email.

According to Night In Boxes records, there are no requests from the customer to escalate her inquiry to management. When searching for records of communication both the customer's name and email as it appears on their account was used and only one thread of communication between the Night In Boxes Customer Experience team and the customer came up in results. Through this communication, the customer was provided with a final resolution/response. Please review attached for line of communication between the Night In Boxes Customer Experience team and the customer.

The customer was required to agree to the Night In Boxes terms and conditions prior to signing up for their subscription. By agreeing to these terms, the customer was made aware that they must cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription prior to their renewal date in order to prevent future charges. The customer was also made aware that after the automatic renewal occurred that the customer would not be granted a refund, due to the Night In Boxes terms and conditions.

Because the customer did not cancel the automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription prior to their renewal occurring they will not be provided a refund, as the Night In Boxes terms and conditions stated. The feature was cancelled after the customer's subscription renewed. The customer will not experience any future charges on their account unless they decide to reactivate their subscription.

My complaint is that you should send a courtesy reminder since there was a span of three months between orders. It is just good business. As to your comment about elevating it to management, the email I received said it was being elevated. It reads, "We definitely appreciate your feedback, and I have escalated it to our management team." I never heard anything else from you, which is why I filed this complaint. I'm past wanting a refund, I just want to prevent others from being hoodwinked.

So we are behind on our date night boxes :) but for good reason! We have been so busy! But we made a point tonight as we settled into our new home to catch up. And tonight we chose the Fall In Love box from a few months ago. We absolutely love it! We had hours of great conversations come from it and...what an amazing playlist!! The activity in this box was so fun. My husband ( still getting used to that word; like I said, we've been busy :) ) and I loved making the cut ***. And it fits perfectly in our new home since we are in *** and *** is our state tree!

Ordered subscription box on promo. Not satisfied with box that arrived on the 23rd. Cancelled on the 30th. They still sent the next box and billed me.
Ordered subscription box on promo. Not satisfied with box that arrived on the 23rd. It was very cheap. Cancelled on the 30th after we had the weekend to try the box out. They still sent the next box and billed me even after buy account showed I satisfactorily cancelled.

After emailing them, they say their fine print shows you have to cancel by the 27th of every month in order to not get charged even though the box hadn't even shipped yet. They could have stopped it since I cancelled in time. Box didn't ship until 12/7.

Several emails with customer service showed they didn't care about my financial hardship or wanting to remedy this. All they wanted was their money and to reinforce their fine print.

Its evident this happens often to them and they see no reason to change their policy. I am just looking for my $45 refunded for their shady practices.

Desired Outcome

$45 refund of charge I am due. I canceled and they still sent.

The refund policy in the terms and conditions clearly states that all cancellations of a customer's automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription must occur prior to the customer's account renewing. Also, the customer was provided with details of their automatic renewal feature associated with their subscription in various locations in the check out screen, on the Thank you for your purchase screen after submitting their payment, in the receipt and welcome email both giving access to log into their account, which once logging in the customer could then find their next schedule renewal date associated with their subscription.

Date Night In Box is extremely transparent with their customers offering details of our previous Date Night In Box themes that have already gone out to customers. This page give the customer the opportunity to research what exactly our product is to help them make a decision on whether our product is suited for them. The customer will not experience any future charges on their account and once they receive their December shipment, their subscription will expire.

This is a blanket response from Date Night in a Box. It is not easy to cancel or find info on their website. Please click the link they provided, and try for yourself. And once you find it, and you do cancel it truly doesn't cancel until the 21st of the following month, so you will be charged again.
Alas,*** sided in my favor and granted a refund. Others need to be aware of the business practices of this company. Especially one that promotes Christian boxes and has no moral, values, ethics when it comes to taking your money after you cancel or caring if you don't like a box. As they stated, even if you are dissatisfied with a box, they offer no refund. So they could send you an empty box or a box with a sewing kit and you could complain and they would say, sorry, thats part of what you agreed to. Think for yourself and Read all of the complaints on this company before signing up with them.
