I received an unsolicited credit card and when I called to cancel it, the man took my name and number. Then when I asked for his name, he hung up. This card came in my name and the name of a high school organization that I was involved in when my children were in the high school. They have since graduated and I do not want this card to be activated and thus making me or the high school organization responsible for any and all possible charges.Desired Settlement: I want something in writing that shows proof that no one will be able to use this card and that neither myself or this school organization will be responsible for any financial issues associated with this card.

Hello,

Review: Company sent unsolicited credit card in my name that could be instantly activated by any recipient - legitimate or otherwise.

Company sent brand new, unrequested, ready-to-activate credit card in my name with $100,000 credit line that simply required a phone call by anyone to activate.Desired Settlement: Cease and desist practice of sending ready-to-activate, pre-authorized credit cards a sales practice.

Response:

Dear Mr. [redacted],

Review: At my place of business I received an envelope with a real credit card and an activation number, stating that there was a $100,000 line of credit. Call to activate. I did not apply for this card. It could obviously be activated by someone besides me, to my financial detriment.Desired Settlement: Do not contact BKT Architects or send any more cards with credit available to this company.

Response:

Hello,

Review: I just received an unsolicited actual Platinum credit card in my mailbox with a $100k limit that neither myself nor my wife had requested, let alone ever even heard of the company. The envelope was addressed to my wife but the card has only my business name on it. It was a small business sole proprietorship that I haven't used in 4 years. Not to mention, she is not even listed or associated anywhere with my business. It was also address using my wife's maiden name, but she's been exclusively using her married name since we were married in 2007. Also concerning is that the card says that my business has been a member since 11/13. We are both extremely responsible with our credit, debt & personal finances, both with literally 800+ FICO scores. I tried calling the number in the letter but no one ever answers. I called the main number on the back of the card but the person would not do anything without me divulging my personal info & CC number, which I did not feel comfortable with due to the nature of this situation. Since, I have filed complaint with Consumer Protection Financial Bureau & have both checked our annual credit reports. Neither of us show Pacific Capital or anything unexpected, but are still extremely concerned. Last time I checked, to get a CC they'd need my personal info, credit history & CONSENT!!! At this point we don't suspect identity theft & believe that Pacific Capital is operating an illegal CC scam. A quick search seems to confirm this, but will still be treating this as an identity theft & will take action accordingly. It is also worth pointing out that when I did get someone on the phone at the main number, the person was unconcerned very rude, literally called me a "loser" & hung up on me!This was probably because I was upset & raised my voice, but that is totally unacceptable behavior regardless of the situation. An unsolicited credit card with $100k limit was sent to me.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

This in my opinion illegal.Desired Settlement: : Immediate response from the company that they remove any personally identifiable information from me, which I have never authorized. Hello,

Review: Review: Received a pre-approved $100,000 credit line from this company that was not requested, and is in my name and the name of my company. This appears to be some kind of scam to fish in companies to find further information or provide a line of credit via a false unsoliciated agreement. Having read through the information it appears they're buying information about companies from Dun and Bradstreet. I have complained to them as well about how this information is being used, will likely open a separate Revdex.com complaint on Dun and Bradstreet. I note past complaints in the Revdex.com data base with deisred settlements thaht they stop this soliciataion pratice. It appears they state they will to resolve past complaints but are undertaking that promise. I can not wait until a class action suit opens up. I will retain my infomation/document for then.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

Review: Received an unsolicited letter from PCC with "Platinum Card" enclosed for unapplied for a business line of credit which I do not want. Never heard of PCC, and after checking its web site, given its length of time in business I understand that Wells Fargo provides funding. I also want in writing that this has been done immediately.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

Response:

Hello,

Please consider this your formal notification that you have been removed from our database and you will not be contacted again. We apologize for any concern that this may have caused you. The letter which you received in the mail is a marketing solicitation, not a formal offer for credit.

Review: We ([redacted] School) received a credit card in the mail that we had not applied for and that Pacific Capital Company issued to our former business which has been closed for nearly four years. The card could have been activated by anyone who opened the letter. Luckily, it was given to me, as the former office manager. I have called Pacific Capital twice at two different phone numbers and left messages, but have not received a call back. I'm very concerned that some unauthorized person applied for this card, or that the company sent it without our authorizing to do so.Desired Settlement: I would like a call back from Pacific Capital to discuss my concerns and have Full Spectrum Healing Art School removed from any future mailings of any kind to prevent this from happening in the future.

Response:

Hello,

Review: I received an offer for $100K credit line for the business with another person's name as an authorized user in the solicitation information AND on the card itself. This is of great concern, especially when the credit offer expresses "Protect yourself from Fraud Activate your card now".

I called the company to advise them of the mistake and express great concern about the possibility of the wrong person getting a hold of the information/card and activating it and affecting my name and credit. I was met with complete dis-concern from the representative at Pacific Capital Companies 888-991-7837. I was told that they ran a D & B report and that's how they got their information. I again expressed my concern that their records are incorrect and I DO NOT want this activated under my name under any circumstance. I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager; instead of honoring the request I was told "Now Look Here..... you listen to me" Oh No, no, no. This is not acceptable behavior for any customer service representative, especially when you tout yourself as a fraud protection, and someone is expressing concerns about Fraud and your company's possible activity in it.

I called back, spoke with a woman. I asked extremely nicely to speak with a supervisor or manager, was asked to hold and then was hung up on.

Really?? This is how business is conducted these days? Especially a financially involved company.

This is extremely concerning.Desired Settlement: Fraud and Privacy Policies to be Taken Seriously, and due diligence be performed.

Customer service to be improved, to not hang up on a caller when asked to speak with a supervisor. In addition, a customer service rep should never tell a customer "Now You Look Here... Ru" when concern about privacy and fraud are expressed to defend the companies position.

Hello,

Review: Pacific Captial Companies sent a credit card (hard plastic w/ a mag strip) with a credit line of $100,000 to my organization the Identity Theft Resource Center, and an individual, name of [redacted], that is not an employee of this organization. Very concernced about identity theft (for obvious reasons) I contacted this company and asked for a copy of the credit application. The representative told me there was no credit application and that this was an offer for credit, using information pulled from Dunn and & Bradstreet. I told him to NOT activate this offer. I then went to our D&B filings and noted that there is no [redacted] associated with our D&B profile. It doesn't appear that they pulled this information from D&B. I noticed that there are other complaints regarding this matter in your file and they are recent. This is false and misleading advertising. This "offer" of credit appears to be a legitimate credit card, not an offer, and by setting up the solicitation to appear this way, one is compelled to contact them to clear it up. Whereas with other pre-approved offers of credit, one would simply destroy them. I had to take time out of my schedule to ensure that my organization was not a victim of identity theft and contact all the parties involved because of their solicitation for business, which again, doesn't appear to be a solicitation for business. Revdex.com Standards for Trust state that a company must advertise honestly, must build trust, and embody integrity. I believe the behavior of this company doesn't not embody these standards.Desired Settlement: I want to receive a response in writing as to how they obtained information that would link the name [redacted] to the Identity Theft Resource Center. I want proof as to how this was obtained. Simply stating it was pulled from D&B has turned out to be inaccurate and caused me to do the leg work. I want to be removed from any future solicitation lists. I want to see this company change their advertising as these "offers" for credit do not appear to be so, and they are on the face of them misleading.

Hello,

Review: Received a real looking Credit Card in the mail asking us to call in and activate it. It has 100k credit line. Since we did not apply for this Card my wife freaked out. Questions and Worries followed. Example, Is someone stealing our identity or is it worse than that.Desired Settlement: Remove me from all list and tell me where you got my name and have them remove me from there list.

An apology would be nice and maybe a flower arrangement sent to my wife showing you were sincere.

Response:

Hello [redacted],

Review: Company sent as a credit card completely unsolicited. When we called to cancel the card, request no further mailings and determine how they had gotten our information in the first place, customer service representative was flippant and extremely rude. Refused to remove us from their system.

Business

Response:

Hello,

Review: We received an unsolicited letter and "credit card" saying that we have $100,000 in available credit and that we should activate the card now to protect our company from fraud. This was UNSOLICITED and our company has never made contact with this organization prior to receiving their letter. They are using unethical advertising to get businesses to sign up for services. They report on another complaint filed with the Revdex.com that it is for "business financing, not on offer for personal credit" but EVERYWHERE on the letter it refers to credit. Anyone could easily activate the card – not the person it was addressed toDesired Settlement: Stop using this unethical advertising method to get business to sign up for services. They report on another complaint that it is for "business financing, not on offer for personal credit" but EVERYWHERE on the letter it refers to credit. The Revdex.com should revoke their accredited status – their method of advertising does NOT meet Revdex.com standards. I would be happy to forward the Revdex.com a copy of the letter of reference.

Business

Response:

This was an offer for business credit financing, not on offer for

personal credit financing. We do not have any personal information about the

customer in our records. We pre-qualified the business based on specific

publicly available criteria about the business within the Dunn &

Bradstreet's database.

The customer has been removed from our list and will not be

contacted again.

Please let me know if you need any additional information to

complete this case.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The business does not address how they will correct their practice of unethically promoting their service for credit financing. They are using "scare tactics" to get people to sign up for their services by using terms such as "Protect Yourself From Fraud Activate Your Card Now!". These tactics do not follow the Revdex.com Code of Business Practice or Revdex.com Code of Advertising that they claim to follow by being an Accredited Business. I will be happy to provide a scanned copy of the advertising that was received to the Revdex.com.

Review: Pacific Capital Co, also known as Pacific Capital Companies LLC etc. are engaging in identity theft and credit card fraud! Their biz name keeps changing but their illegal activities stay the same (search online and read complaints here on Revdex.com):

1) They somehow obtain personal information and open a $100,000 credit line/card in your name WITHOUT YOUR application or authorization!

2) Then they send you a letter of activation with actual card and account number, This is a real card with your personal information, magnetic strip etc.

3) The purpose of this activation letter is to get you on the phone and extract more of your personal/private information.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS NEW SCAM! do not call them and don't reveal any of your information!

Report this to your local Police department, FBI, and file Revdex.com complaint!

These crooks will be investigated only if there are enough reports.Desired Settlement: Shutdown this credit card fraud and Identity theft outfit.
