Thank you for your inquiry from [redacted] with [redacted] Paychex takes complaints from our clients very seriously, and we appreciate the opportunity to help resolve any disputes that may occur.Ms [redacted] submitted a complaint about Paychex not filing Florida state unemployment insurance (SUI) returns for 4th quarter On October 18, 2016, Ms [redacted] (owner) notified her payroll specialist that [redacted] was adding Florida employeesWe provided Ms [redacted] with a link to the Florida Department of Revenue website to apply for an SUI identification number (ID) and submit a form to grant Paychex Power of Attorney so that we would be authorized to remit taxes and returns on behalf of [redacted] .On November 23, 2016, Ms [redacted] emailed us to say that she had applied for an ID with FloridaHer payroll specialist replied to remind her that we still needed to receive the ID and Power of AttorneyOn January 12, 2017, we received the Florida SUI ID number, but not the Power of Attorney.Ms [redacted] (Controller) contacted us in February to inquire why [redacted] was not yet active on our automatic tax payment service for 4th quarter We confirmed that it was because we did not have the Power of Attorney for Florida SUI stillThe Power of Attorney was sent to Paychex on February 28, by Ms [redacted] We were then authorized to file taxes and returns as of 1st quarter Paychex was not authorized to file for tax periods before this dateWe did not file returns or remit taxes for fourth quarter because we did not have the signed Power of Attorney, and we did not have a tax ID for [redacted] Upon researching this issue, we also discovered that [redacted] had entered the Florida employees for the state of Texas in error, so we did not create a tax return for Florida. We offered to prepare a return for Florida and an amended return for Texas to transfer the wages from Texas to FloridaHowever, we would need to charge [redacted] for the cost of preparing the amended returnAs a gesture of goodwill, we offered to arrange for the transfer of wages from Texas to Florida at no cost.Paychex cannot take responsibility for any penalties or interest incurred for late payment of Florida taxes because we did not have Power of Attorney and ID number we needed to file for the client by the due dateIn addition, our client did not enter the employees for the correct state in time.If you have questions, please contact me at [redacted] Sincerely, Alicia [redacted] Client Services Supervisor

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowThe person writing the response has never even contacted me There are no refunds issued They wont even come to the phone Finally this past Friday I was able to get more answers about what taxes they paid First of all they held on to over $8K for more than days from the day they are saying they gave me the money back NOT TRUE And then it wasnt everything so I have had to call them every day to try and talk to anyone about this so that we could understand why they didnt refund everything Then after being hanged up on multiple times supposedly disconnected after being transferred multiple times I got someone that emailed me that information But that just happened after I spend countless hours and days trying to get someone on the phone that could explain No refunds on any fees have been offered much less refunded and if they dont even call me or come to the phone I doubt they will even issue no refund on anything And in fact that is going to increase on interest penalties since I have not been able to pay yet since my new payroll company ADP didnt know what they were supposed to payThen to add more to the issues that have not been resolved, we have also been dealing with them putting employees under Georgia that work in Tennessee and that always only worked in Tennesse ADP needs them to fix that on their end if not this is going to be an issue that will cost me more time and money at the end of the year That manager didnt even talk about this issue which is a big one for me and most importantly for my employees! Last but not least that person LIED on that replied I did NOT change the bank account We have not used that account since we closed it over a year ago In fact every two weeks they had been using the right accounts and screwed up then when setting that new employee They owe me for that to! They cant just lie and say I change bank accounts because that didnt happenI have attached some documentation but I can attached more It seems to me that this big company just wants to take advantage of another small business owner and I wont stop until I get more on fees and interest refunded plus all the issues actually fixed Regards, [redacted]

To: Whom it may concern, Thank you for your inquiry regarding [redacted] Tax (" [redacted] ")Paychex takes complaints from our clients very seriously, and we appreciate the opportunity to help resolve any disputes that may occurPaychex understands that [redacted] [redacted] has alleged that Paychex was responsible for collecting and remitting its Arizona State taxes, but failed to do so in the proper amounts between 1/1/to 8/21/ [redacted] claims that as a result, the Arizona Department of Economic Security ("DES") levied its account on October 4, in the amountof $17, [redacted] is requesting a reimbursement for the same amount from PaychexPaychex was first notified of [redacted] 's claim on August 21, Since that time,Paychex has been working with Maurice W [redacted] and Jasmine W [redacted] from [redacted] to investigate and resolve its issues with its Arizona State taxesInitially, it was suspected that the levy was related to [redacted] 's failure to provide Paychex with its correct State Unemployment Insurance ("SUI") identification numberHowever, Paychex confirmed that the tax payments it made on behalf of [redacted] (at the rates communicated by [redacted] [redacted] ) were applied to the proper DES account, despite [redacted] 's failure to provide Paychex with an accurate SUI identification number Based on Paychex's further investigation, we have found that the additional taxes owed by [redacted] to Arizona State did not arise from a Paychex errorRather, the amountlevied by the State from [redacted] 's account was for back taxes attributable to rate increases that were not communicated to PaychexContrary to [redacted] 's claims, Paychex has no record of receiving the DES tax rate notices, nor has [redacted] provided the notices to PaychexIn any event, under [redacted] 's agreement with Paychex, [redacted] was solely responsible for communicating its tax rate to Paychex and reviewing its reports to ensure accuracyPaychex has been attempting to assist [redacted] with resolving its State tax issuesAt Paychex's request, [redacted] 's representative delivered a copy of the DES notice it had received to our Phoenix, AZ office on September 1, The local branch sent a copy of the notice to Paychex's Penalty and Abatement Center department for further investigation and assistanceDuring that investigation, on September 13, [redacted] notified Paychex by phone that it had received a levy noticePaychex advised [redacted] to call the State to place a hold on its account to allow time for further investigation and potential resolutionWe understand that [redacted] failed to request a hold on its account, resulting in the execution of the levy by the State Paychex denies that it offered to reimburse the client $17,to resolve this issue, as Paychex would never be responsible for paying [redacted] 's tax obligationsHowever, Paychex did offer to assist [redacted] by attempting to obtain an abatement for the penalties and interest assessed by the State [redacted] rejected Paychex's offer of assistancePaychex continues to be willing to assist [redacted] with efforts to seek an abatement and, under separate cover, we are conveying an additional offer to resolve thismatter to [redacted] Please let us know if you need any other information or assistance from Paychex If you have further questions, you can contact me at [redacted] Sincerely, Ellie M***Client Service Manager
