I went to Pay less Rent a Car because they accept local rentals and debit cards in the Philadelphia region. Their rental contract requires the renter to initial several sections acknowledging you agree with their terms of service. I was asked to initial (acknowledge) a product I wasn't being offering. When I requested to write N/A before I'd sign or to leave that section blank, I was given a VERY HARD time. The employee threatened to cancel my contract. Mind you, it was 11 pm and I was in the middle of nowhere. Speaking with the manager didn't make the situation any better. The Manager, Brelle W[redacted], said you weren't allowed to write on the contracts. When I said "by initialing, I'm writing on the contract", she agreed. Then she proceeded to make up a story to how writing N/A was prohibited. Finally she told me if I didn't like want to agree to signing, to rent elsewhere.

The slender built caramel skinned [redacted] male at the counter charged me the wrong amount for my rental and refused to provide me with a copy of the receipt. He called the police on me when I insisted on getting a copy. He is a despicable person who has no professionalism or ethics. Payless Car Rental is the worst business in Chicagoland.

corporate office and we advised you previously regarding our early return
policies.

I have attached paperwork showing we refunded 175.57 to the complainant's account, This was handled at the time her rental agreement was closed per our policy. She signed the debit card agreement which states...

"It can take up to 14 days" for the money to be back in her account. She was not over charged .Mike H[redacted]

I rented a car in Los Angeles. While on the road, at 4pm, I had a blow out. I got out in the pouring rain to change it and discovered there was no spare. I spent the next 45 minutes calling the only phone number on the rental agreement, which was the number of the office where I rented the car. I called 118 times and each time got a busy signal or no answer.

I finally called the hotel where we were staying and they gave me the number of a towing company. I had the car towed into the nearest tire store because there was a hole in the sidewall of the tire. I had a new tire put on. When I went back to the Payless counter at Fox Car Rental at LAX, they told me that I had to get the money from the insurance company. I explained that I hadn't been in an accident, but he said that didn't matter.

I submitted the receipts and paper work to the insurance company and after three weeks was told that since the damages were only $208 and there was a $250 deductible that they wouldn't pay. I'll take the bus before I ever rent from these clowns.

Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences you may have encountered at our Payless location. Payless does not wish to deceive anyone and we do our best to make sure that all pertinent information is made available to our customer in a variety of places on our website or within the terms and condition of the rental agreement. We apologize; for any misunderstanding or miscommunication, but the policy states that there will be no refund for a rental that is returned early. This information is readily available on our Website, www.paylesscar.com, located Under our *Pay Now Terms & Conditions* section. Below, I have included the information for your review:**Cancellation PolicyIf you need to cancel 48 flours prior to the scheduled pick-up time, we will refund the full prepaid amount less a $50.00 USD: processing fee. If the prepay amount is less than $50.00 USD, the entire amount will be forfeited. If you do not cancel your reservation 48 hours prior to the scheduled pick-up time or if you fail to rent the car, the entire pre-paid amount will be forfeited. If you return the vehicle before the original return date (early return), you will not be refunded any portion of the payment. 
Retain your reservation confirmation number as it is necessary for modification or cancellation refund requests.  Cancellation refund requests must be made on PaylessCar.com using your reservation number and cancelling your existing reservation. 
Underpayments will be handled at the counter at time of rental return.   Unfortunately, we can't promise that your prepaid daily car rate will apply if you change car types, lengthen or shorten your rental period or change your pick up location.  
Upon returning the vehicle, Payless will process a release of the unused portion of the hold taken at the time of pickup subject to your bank's procedure.  This hold may take up to two weeks to be released by your bank.   If you fail to return the vehicle as agreed, Payless will obtain additional authorizations from your account to cover the rental charges.
We regret that we were not able to provide a more favorable response to your inquiry, but trust you will understand our position on this matter.

THE WORST. Very sneaky. Pay attention. I DECLINED insurance. But when he asked me for several initials, obviously one was for insurance. He then put everything in envelope, so when I returned I asked what the $125 charge was for and the RUDE attendant yelled "Insurance". Said they could not do anything and gave me a business card to open a "Ticket" RUN from this company

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! Had the same problem. Declined everything extra. When I got the final bill they charged me for road side protection.They gave me the name of the Manager, and said to call back and talk to her. (Thy Din). You can never get an answer at the service desk, it always go to the call center number. I called customer service, got the runaround. I told them I had AAA and I did not agree to this extra fee. They will not take this extra 5.99 fee per day off the bill. They should call this Company .....PAY MORE!!

Pay less car rental will take your CC saying its "in case" and when you get home the card has fraudulent charges. I was charged 306.00 when the quote was 106.00 and my credit card had to be cancelled because right after that the card was cloned. The ONLY placed I used the card was here.

Review: I wanted to rent a car, as a federal employee I went through ([redacted]) a company that offers us discounts. On there site I found Payless Car Rental. I proceeded to rent the car for next day pick at a price for $144.87, confirmation number [redacted]. I continued to read the fine print and noticed the deposit was too high, so within 10 minutes (or less) I canceled the reservation. I called to confirm the reservations was cancelled and that I would be refunded. The number did not connect to anyone, I checked their site and found another number and the representative said I was not getting a refund because I cancelled within 48 hours. I explained to him I just made the reservation for next day pick up, so I would not have had 48 hours to cancel. He kept repeating the same thing, we were disconnected, I called back and explained to him no where in the disclaimer does it say anything about next day rental and/or what happens if a customer cancels within 10 minutes, in my case or less that 24 hours. The disclaimer states "if you do not cancel your reservations 48 hours prior to the scheduled pick up time or if you fail to rent the car, the entire pre-paid amount will be forfeited". To ensure that I did not lose my money I ask if I could just rent the car he said no because I already cancel. The problem is this suspicious company just took my money without reason or clear contractual cause, nor did they offer me any customer service to help me rectify this questionable company's business practices. I even called the company in which I located Payless Car Rental. Unfortunately they could not help me because it's a third party dealing. I'm out of 144.87 writhin 10 minutes.Desired Settlement: Is a complete refund.

Review: Payless car rental tried to scam me into renting a car for the weekend for $1,000 although I made my reservation early for $200. They did not honor the price that I booked through [redacted] because they were "out of cars". How are you going to offer me a car 5x the price of my reservation and then tell me that it is because you are "out of cars". It was a horrible experiece and it is awful that these scammers do not care to honor their reservations.Desired Settlement: I would like an explaination, an apology, and a complimentary 3 day rental (what I originally reserved). I hope that this kind of behavior is not integrated in the company culture.

terrible experience. nobody showed up at office, had to rent a car elsewhere and pay double the price. the company has done nothing to remedy the situation. I later learned that the office always open late, and often do not show up at all

Review: This company put a charge on my reservation that I clearly told the check in person that my insurance covers road side service. When I saw it on the bill, I thought it was mandatory to pay it so I signed the contract. No where did I see it was an optional charge. I would like my $29.95 back plus applicable taxes.Desired Settlement: I would like $29.95 back due to illegal and false charges to my account. My contract number with them was [redacted]

Review: I have rented from this company several times in the last six months, and I have never had a problem. But the last time I came in to rent a car it was a horrible experience, and ended up costing me over $300 more. After I reserved the car online and had already paid for it, I came in with my out of state drivers license and the debit card I made the reservation with. The employee refused to let me rent the car because I did not have a paper utility bill, even though in the past this has never been a problem. I called customer service on their phone and explained the situation, they said yes, you should be able to rent! The employee refused to listen, he hung up the phone. So I called again, explained the situation again and they said yes, you should be able to rent! But he refused! The employee was rude, lied to us about his real name, lied and said it was his first day, also there was no manager, not even a supervisor to call. So, I had my girlfriend use her credit card, but because she is under age and was not on the reservation, they charged us an extra $200. I would have just left, but I had to get to where I was going. We also were dealing with this for 4 hours, and by the time they got to us they had no more clean cars, so we had to wait even longer. The trip home we had to come back a day late, so we called and extended for the same day rate plus and $11 extension fee. We just got the invoice a week later and they charged us $50 extra on her credit card. They also charged us a late return fee, and we were not late bringing it back. I have tried calling so many different numbers, I have filed an official complaint with the company and its all a brick wall. I am now looking at [redacted] reviews and a lot of people seem to have had similar experiences. These people are criminal and are stealing money from people with all of these made up fees and polices.Desired Settlement: The extra money I spent and the invalid charges added on without notice should be refunded.

Review: I am [redacted] I met with an accident with [redacted]’s Car at Greentree road, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania state having [redacted] Claim Number [redacted]

1) I had rented a car from Payless Car Rental company on 02nd May 2015, Rental Car Receipt Number [redacted], and rear ended your [redacted]’s Car

2) I had purchased an [redacted] collision damage waiver insurance which covered damage to my payless rental car.

3) [redacted]’s Car was also damaged and it cost her 4800 $ to repair.

4) Rental companies are required by law (except in California) to provide state –mandated minimums for liability coverage in the basic rate. The minimum limits for Pennsylvania auto insurance for Property Damage Liability Coverage is $5,000.

5) But Payless Rental Car company after accident is refusing to provide – mandated minimum of liability coverage and pay damages of $4800 to [redacted]’s car. And they say to me that they do not provide mandated minimum of Pennsylvania auto insurance, while renting the car.

6) The rental car agreement states in section 6: Where state law requires us to provide auto liability insurance, or if you have no auto liability insurance, we provide auto liability insurance {the ~Policy") that is secondary to any other valid and collectible applicable insurance whether primary, secondary, excess or contingent. The Policy provides bodily injury and property damage liab~lity coverage with limits no higher than minimum levels prescribed by the motor vehicle financial responsibility laws of the jurisdiction whose laws apply to the loss.

7) Since I do not have my own auto insurance and car was rented in Pennsylvania state and accident occurred in Pennsylvania, I would like request Revdex.com to intervene and make Payless Rental Car company to provide me the mandated state minimum of liability coverage, which they are required to provide by default while renting the car in Pennsylvania state.Desired Settlement: I request Payless to provide state mandatory minnimum liability insurance as required by law and pay the damages of $4800 covered to [redacted]'s car, which is less than Pennsylvania State Mandatory Minnimum Liability Insurance, which payless car rental is required to provide by default.

Review: On Tuesday, Nov *, 2015 I booked and prepaid an online car reservation confirmation # [redacted] for Nov * - *, 2015. When I arrived on Nov *, 2015 at the Payless JFK pickup location I was told I was an "undesired customer" and could not have a car released under the reservation. I had no prior knowledge nor was I contacted via telephone or email that I was "undesired" as a customer and would be banned from any services, otherwise I would not have prepaid a reservation online. I was told to call Customer Service @ ###-###-#### and open a inquiry to receive a refund of $156.33. The inquiry ticket number is [redacted], dated Nov *, 2015 and the agent's name was Abraham; he advised that I would receive an email within 72 hours to conclude the matter. One week later I call Customer Service with my ticket number and was told there would be no refund.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is a full refund for service not rendered nor received.

I will no longer try to conduct business with this company. I've rented cars from them for twice over the past year. During the last rental the car broke down and I was stranded in New Jersey overnight waiting for them to send assistance. And I submitted a request via fax and telephone calls to Customer Service and the JFK location to receive reimbursement for the tow which all went unanswered.

So if that incident makes a customer 'undesirable" then so be it.
