It is clearly listed on my signed contract as a deposit and not a charge Therefor, Payless Car Rental should honor their contract by refunding my deposit Otherwise the are in breach of contract

We have no confirmation at the San Diego location that geographical restrictions would be voided.Our rental rules are disclosed online when booking as well as in the location lobby (walls) and front counter tops...in addition to the actual rental agreement as well when initialing the actual restrictions and signing agreeing to its termsAll agents and personnel are trained in this policy.The ownership of cars who are involved in accidents in AZ is the responsibility barer and not the driver.So your policy does us no good hence the reason we do not allow the travel...unless agreed to by both parties.The choice to this is full responsibility of the renter when accepting at time of pickup or cancel and re-book with another competitor who are within several hundred feet of our locationSo the choice to rent and use the full rental terms under these circumstances are your yoursOnce the rental is fully used there will be no adjustments.Thank you

 Prior to signing I informed that I did not want the optional coverage. I was not explained to me that I need to do anything else. In fact I was told that I need to initial all of the spots on the electronic form. I had just gotten off of a four and half hour fight and just wanted to get through the process that already had the surprise of adding a $200 deposit and did not ready everything I signed.  That being said receipt is misleading as it clearly says that the $200.14 is a deposit. Had I know at the counter that I was being charged $200.14 I would have terminated the process right them and there.  The way I see it Payless is taking advantage of customers who are traveling to San Diego.

The amount of $188.44 was prepaid for the time & mileage online special pricing.The $110.006 was the purchase of optional products plus taxes and fees associated.You initialed the optional CDW accepting this charge.Optional products are not modified after the products usage, only during the open rental agreement the product can be prorated.Thank you.

Not sure what additional credit is being sought, we already issued -$30.91 back to the card on file.
No other credits will be issued.

I appreciate the opportunity to address your concern involving coverage.
When renting a vehicle with Payless, you have the option to accept or
decline coverage.
Coverage is authorized by the renter, and that decision is noted on the
rental agreement...

when the customer initialed for the coverage.
We have checked our records carefully and find that the coverage option
was offered to you, and you indeed signed the agreement.
Once a rental agreement has been completed and services have been rendered we are unable to make any changes or issue refunds.
In addition it was found that you returned the rental with the smell of
smoking and you were informed of the smoking charge for that.
Unfortunately a refund for this will not be issued.
Thank you again for renting with Payless and we look forward to meeting your rental needs in the future.You were informed upon return and refused the finalized receipt of the charge.
No refund will be issued at this time.

Your prior email shows you received the check #[redacted] for $74.84
In addition the rental agreement was credited -$75.77
$150.61 is the total credit given back.
There is no other refund due.
The message above is exactly same I received from [redacted] before. I asked him what is '$75.77'.  He did not and still does not answer my question. Please ask him to explain the credit of 75.77 and send a copy of the agreement showing $75.77.

The offer of me needing to call their customer service yet again, stating that we would be explained the "optional" coverages again is simply a poor response from the business.  I have tried over 3 times to contact their customer service office, each time being told I would need to call back when the proper person was there to speak to, rather than them taking my number and calling me back.  Finally, after calling back the last time, I did talk to the proper person and they were able to handle the complaint with class, actually not hassling me at all.  They understood that we felt misled and refunded our "optional" coverages.  
 
That said, the overall experience that we had with Payless as customers was horrific.  From at first being told that these "optional" coverages were required because we were out-of-staters, to some staff being willing to help, only to have the original agent that misled us overrule them and still charge us for the coverages.  In the end, companies with business practices like this should not exist.  While there are surely some good people working for them, organizationally, clearly they are indecent.
 
Please pass my comments onto the company.  I consider the case resolved due to my finally being able to talk to their customer service and get the matter resolved, but their response to Revdex.com's inquiry I do not accept.

while this may disappointedly (and frankly unfair) explain  the $89 for the extra day it does not however explain the other $30 charge that was billed to my credit card prior to my original scheduled return date. I expect at least that money refunded.]
