For those traveling outside of the geographical restricted area, a

One Way Rentals are not permitted. All vehicles must be returned to the renting station.

When renting a vehicle with Payless, you have the option to
accept or decline
coverage
Coverage is authorized by the renter, and that decision is noted on the rental
agreement when the customer initials for the coverage
We have checked our records carefully and find that the coverage option was
offered to you as basic protection, and you indeed initialed for the item and
signed the agreement and its total price
Once a rental agreement has been completed and services have been rendered we
are unable to make any changes or issue refunds
If you have
information that someone is using your card fraudulently then may we suggest
you report it to your card carrier
This is what most people would do in your case
Your claiming the
signature for the contract is not yours that we have using the credit card type
on file as fraud

I called and confirmed the rate with the company. I advised it was a last minute trip for a family emergency so I needed to have everything clear and confirmed before arising. I advised the agent I would be traveling to Arizona. My personal auto insurance provides full coverage for rentals in any state. I advised the agent of this and he assured me I would not need additional insurance and there would be no additional charges. He said he would note the conversation on my reservation. I believe this was said fraudulently knowing that when I arrived I would have no choice but to accept the additional charges and insurance since I was traveling for a family emergency. I believe this was a deliberate and unethical way to charge more.

with Payless, you have the option to accept or decline the optional coverage. When coverage is authorized by the renter, it is noted on the rental agreement when the you initialed its acceptance for the coverage.  We have checked our records carefully and find that the basic coverage option was offered, and you agreed to the offer by initialing for it, you signed the totaling of the agreement as well.  A copy was given to you at the counter and the signature pad was used as well, giving you full control and visual access.We’re sorry but once a rental agreement has been completed and services have been rendered we are unable to make any changes or issue refunds.The contract has been added to this response.We do value your business and hope this will not prevent you from choosing our services future.Sincerely,Management Team619-296-4966

There is nothing online that says you cannot take the car out of State. Most people book online. If that is there policy then it should be stated on line when the consumer is paying for it. The ruse is I ended up paying $ 568 as opposed to the $150 Stated online. I am sure they do well with this because when I arrived I had no other option. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. I reviewed the site I booked this on and that is absolutely not the case.  It does not say that anywhere. You did not even have one of the cars he showed us we booked on your lot.  The gentlemen did not give a choice when picking up the car.  He was like a used car salesman. I am going to speak with my work and  get them to take Payless Car Rental off there site. I work for a company with a lot of integrity and honesty and I am sure they do not want there employees using their company website and being treated dishonestly.  Yes my husband signed it.  Again on vacation, we prepaid and he did not give us a choice.  I had to wait till I got home to view the website and see what it actually said.  This is a dishonest transaction.

Thank you for your help in resolving this issue. I've been checking my credit card, and the final refund just posted today.At this point, I consider this matter closed. Though I do think it is important to press on this company to adjust the way it deals with customers, as my experience was so poor (and my observation of other customers' experiences indicated that it is a widespread issue). I will not rent with them again and will recommend that others I know will also steer clear of this company when renting cars.Thank you,[redacted]
