Review: False advertisement by its overseas parent company, rentalcars.comI booked reservation for a car in Rio de Janeiro for Dec 2013. During the reservation process, I indicated the need for unlimited kilometers and air conditioner. Rentalcars.com gave me a vehicle for $813.31 for a month rental. After printing the itinerary, I noticed, as it showed on the offer, that the air conditioner symbol did not show on the printout. I customer service told me the car did not have air, despite me telling them that the ad offered it. They asked me to email customer service, who replied:Dear [redacted],Thank you for your email. In order to amend your reservation, your current reservation needs to be cancelled and re-booked by visiting our website on http://www.rentalcars.com/?cor=us this is only possible online due to contract restrictions.Kind [redacted] Department - rentalcars.comFloors 2-5St. George's House,56 Peter Street,ManchesterM2 3NQUKe: [email protected] As you can read, they refused fixing the situation. They wanted me to book a new reservation. I did try to book another one, but the problem still persist. They are offering what they cannot guarantee. Imagine if I go to Rio thinking the car had air. I would not get it, lose the reservation, and have to book one at the booth if air is needed. This means also pay for an expensive car since reservation would not be in advance. [redacted]

Review: I booked a car rental with Priceline for February 14th through the 17th along with a hotel. The plan was for a friend to take me from the hotel to the rental facility on the 14th but their car died on the way. I called Priceline immediately and was told that it would be fine for me to pick the car up the next day. I took a bus down to the facility and was told that they had canceled my reservation. Calling Priceline again I was told that there was nothing that could be done for me leaving me stranded at the rental facility at [redacted] international airport. If the gentleman I spoke to on the 14th would have told me that I needed to pick the car up that day or more reservation would be canceled I would have taken a taxi. Because he told me picking up the next day would be fine, I missed my reservation it should fall on Priceline to rectify this situation.Desired Settlement: As explained in the complaint, I am without my rental car right now solely due to misinformation given to me by a Priceline customer service department rep. The fact that they have left a customer stranded at the airport due to their negligence is alarming. I will never be able to get the time lost back but getting a refund would be a good start.

Response:

Dear Mr. [redacted],

Review: On 9/25/14, I reserved a [redacted] rental car at the [redacted] airport on Priceline.com's website at $11 per day, with a total charge of $69.76 due when I returned the vehicle. When I went to the [redacted] rental car counter, I declined all collision insurance, which I initialed. When I returned the vehicle to [redacted] on 9/29/14, I was informed that my debit card would be charged in the amount of $69.76 and was given a receipt from the [redacted] employee. The next day when I checked my bank account, I saw an additional charge on my debit card in the amount of $44. I called Priceline.com and they said it was for collision insurance. When I told them that I declined insurance, they said that I requested it on their website and I told them that I did not. They refused to reverse the charge. There was no indication on their website that I was signing up for insurance, only renting the vehicle for $11 per day and I was charged directly from [redacted] for the entire amount. I feel that Priceline.com deceptively charged me for insurance.Desired Settlement: I want the $44 charge on my bank debit card refunded.

Our records confirm that the consumer accepted the option to purchase

Collision Damage Insurance at the total cost of $44.

Review: I planned to purchase a hotel express deal on the actual website of priceline.com and the option to purchase travel insurance was clearly offered. Priceline.com had a special unlock your express deal promotion as well as a 5% off if you used the app to make your purchase so I did this. I was expecting to find the option to purchase travel insurance on the last page of the checkout as is normally found on the website but it was not there and instead I booked the nonrefundable hotel deal without being given the option to purchase the travel protection insurance. I called priceline and they told me that the insurance is always offered in app or on the website but while I was on the phone with them I went back to the app to try to replicate the exact same deal I already purchased and no travel insurance was offered.Desired Settlement: All I wanted to do was to add the $5 per night travel insurance to my hotel deal. I had only placed the order two hours before but they told me no modifications could be made. I am leaving tomorrow so hopefully we will not need the insurance but the fact that they believe that it is being offered on the app as an option when it is clearly not an option is not right. I was willing to pay for it but they never offered it. I spoke to three or four customer service reps but they said there was nothing they could do. I could not understand how they could not just add the insurance to my order and charge my card $15 for the three night stay.

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:I did find insurance on [redacted] which more than double what I would have paid with you. One of the main reasons I wrote to the Revdex.com was not the fact that I couldn't get the insurance. It was the way your team handled the situation. If you review the phone records I was argued with by several different reps one who kept insisting that I was wrong. While I was on the phone with him I went to the app and tried to make several different reservations without actually booking them to make sure that the insurance was not offered to me as it was not when I made my booking on the app. There was no option for the insurance during any of those sessions on the app, but if I went to the website either on my phone or computer it was clearly an option on the exact same bookings. I did not appreciate the fact that I was looking at the screen in front of me and he was telling me that insurance is always offered when it was not. I asked you to do a simple thing and add the insurance for me to protect my nonrefundable trip in case of incident but you could not do this for me. I was never offered insurance on the app and this was a problem since these types of booking should always be given the option to buy insurance to protect the consumer in the event of incident if they so desire.

Sincerely,

Review: Booked hotel based on free airport shuttle to ORF. Hotel booked did not service ORF. I should not have been given the option to book that hotel.

Our flight from ORF to PHL was cancelled due to weather. We needed a hotel for literally 6 hours. I checked Priceline, listed ORF as my location, and included a free hotel shuttle as my requirement, along with an in-room hot tub so my disabled veteran husband could soak his weary body. Found a hotel that was offered and booked it, but after waiting over 40 minutes for the free shuttle on a very hot and humid evening we called and realized that the hotel serviced a different airport. I called Priceline to cancel but was told that it's their policy to not allow cancellations past a certain time. I said the website shouldn't have offered that hotel in the first place. Spoke with [redacted] Towards the end of our conversation he tried to offer a $25 credit, but I said I needed a refund. I'd be willing to take a full credit towards a different hotel (one with a free shuttle to ORF). He said no. I said I'd file a complaint with Revdex.com. Since it was a holiday weekend and rooms were scant, we decided to use the room but had to pay for a car. I want Priceline to reimburse me the cost of that car, $40.68, since we needed transportation to and from the airport, and a cab ride would have been around $100 according to the hotel concierge. I've been a Priceline customer since the late 1990's - this is no way to treat a loyal customer.

Desired Settlement: I want the cost of transportation to and from our hotel from ORF, $40.68. This can be found on my Amex statement as a charge from Dollar Rent-A-Car.

Review: I made purchased two rooms from priceline.com on 7/14/13 for Denver, CO on 8/30/13 - 9/2/13 for $55.00 per night for each room (priceline.com request #XXX-XXX-XXX-XX). The two rooms were charged at $104.00 each per night.I called priceline.com customer service immediately and asked for help. They said the could not do anything about it. Review: Hi ,I made a reservation through [redacted] for 3 days for the amount $121. I was needed to come to [redacted] at [redacted] to pick up the car. So I went to pick up the car, the man at the service desk refused to give me the renatl car. He explained that was only for people who are coming from International flights, to able to get this price. So I told him I need a car, so he said you cannot get a car. So I told him what needs to be done now, he said I have to cancel the resevration. I asked him to cancel it from his computer. He said NO I have to do the cancellation reservation online. So I did cancel it from my [redacted] and I got the confirmation number of the cancellation. Now the credit card company ([redacted])refused to return my money. I have told them to call them and they said that the phone number listed was not the correct number, I tried to calling them up my self but the phone number the credit card gave was wrong. I tried to [redacted] their number but was unable to get it - finding the number. Since then, I was not able to get my money back $128. The credit card company added some late fees for this displute change.Desired Settlement: I want my money back $128

Review: I booked a hotel room through priceline.com for 4/13- checkout on 4/14 at the Ramada Airport North Miami. I contacted the hotel directly about the complaints I had with my room through email, I also contacted priceline about my complaints. I received an email on 4/18 stating that priceline and tourico had contacted the hotel and no complaints were on file, therefore no refund would be issued. Later that day I received a call from a team of management at the hotel, asking me to review my complaint with her, I did she apologized and assured me that a full refund would be issued and that she would contact Tourico. I then contacted priceline to inform them of this phone call, I was sent to 4 different reps. where I was told repeatedly that I was not telling the truth, and then finally held while a rep contacted tourico. When the rep came on the line he stated that I would be received an email the same day outlining the details of my refund. I did not receive anything. I contacted Priceline today 4/22 and I was told once again that no refund was going to be issued. I asked to speak with a supervisor I am told that they don't have any. I ask them to once again contact tourico, I hold rep comes back and tells me that tourico will resubmit the request for a refund and I should hear something in 5 days. I thank them, telling they are completely wrong and I will go around them to handle this. I call the hotel directly, I speak with [redacted], and another woman the front office manager who informs me they have contacted Tourico and will contact them again In an effort to get this matter resolved. I contacted Tourico directly who informs me that they know that the hotel issued them a full refund, but they are unable to issue a refund to me because priceline has not submitted my credit card information for anything to be refunded. Tourico has assured me that once they receive my credit card information that I will be receiving a full refund, so now once again I am on hold with Priceline.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

Still awaiting the refund I was told was going to be issued on 4/18 for the amount of 64.17. I would also like this complaint to be public so that future customers know what they are getting into. The refund at this point is not even enough, I will not ever book anything through priceline. They are lost, offer no customer support and outright lie to their customers in order to not have too issue a refund, despite the fact that the hotel has already issued a full refund to them. RIDICULOUS.

Review: I placed a reservation 6/17/14 and was told that as long as I called before 11pm I would be able to cancel and get a 100% refund. I cancelled same day before 11pm and was refunded the portion for the flight. I was successfully refunded the hotel reservation the following day 6/18-- HOWEVER, on 6/20 Priceline decides to take the money back out of my account. I have called numerous times to try and let them know. I have offered screenshots of my online banking app, to speak to my bank and I have emailed a bank statement. The first rep I ever spoke to about this issue was beyond friendly and even offered to call me back to keep me posted. After I sent the last email I have yet to hear anything back and when I called back to Speak to customer relations I spoke to a [redacted] and she was very condescending and had poor customer service skills. I asked to speak to a higher up and she annoyingly said she couldn't transfer me elsewhere-- she offered no resolution, no call back, nothing! She stated she couldn't transfer me to higher up, that she couldn't offer a resolution, she could guarantee a call back-- very unprofessional and cold. The second time I called I spoke to [redacted], didn't seem any better, but I asked politely to get a call back tomorrow after I once again fax over my bank statements to get MY money back. PLEASE help me get my money back and I promise I will never in my life bother Priceline again. I have no reason to waste energy lying over 200.00--that is my money and its been 8 business days and no resolution has been made-- they just keep saying the refund has been issued. Ive send 3 emails proving from my banking statements that they took the money back 2 days later! PLEASE HELP me get my money back!Desired Settlement: Please, just refund me MY money and I will never do business with Priceline again!

Review: I rented a car through priceline for my wife to pick up when she arrived in [redacted]. I said she would be using a debit card for the deposit and she had a round trip ticket plus I took the ins. she arrived to be told they were not going to take her card for the deposit and would not allow anyone over the phone to use theres. so I called priceline to solve the issue and all they could do was to offer a full refund which was fine that way I can rent from someone who would take her card. They went on to tell me they would not refund the money until ten days after the original drop off date for the car.that way they can confirm the car was not picked up. but they did that while I was on hold so they know the place would not rent her the car. now my wife is stuck 1500 miles away with no vehicle because I dont have the money to rent another because they refuse to refund my money now. and while I was explaining this to the man on the phone he said have a nice day and hung up.Desired Settlement: I need an immediate refund or a car rental for my wife now not 17 days from today

Review: I went on Priceline to try and find a flight from [redacted] to [redacted]. I put a bid for 250.00 As it was "supposedly"negotiating, a window the size of an index card came up from Priceline. Like I had a message. I didn't have the program to open it, so I hit the "X" to close out. The next thing I know I "won" the bid. So I went to check the itinerary, which showed me leaving from [redacted] instead of [redacted]. So I immediately tried to get help through customer service. They would not help me at all. They were very scripted as they spoke to me. They wanted to charge me a 80.00 fee for cancellation, and give me 170. 00 back on my card. and a credit the rest if I rebooked with them. If I didn't rebook with them I would lose all but 170.00. The original price of the 2 tickets after fees were 585.30. The airline has a policy to credit back with no fees within 24 hours of booking. Priceline still would not work with me. As I was trying to find a way to resolve this, I found that they would refund or match if you found a flight with the same itinerary for less. Which I did for 146.00 cheaper. But, it's still out of [redacted]. So nothing really got resolved, Just a little less money. I still have to drive 6 hours away. I feel like they trapped me with the little message in the box that I closed out of, so they could make more profit by accepting the 250.00 plus fees to fly out of [redacted]. The flights are alot cheaper out of [redacted] anyway. I feel like the need to be investigated for the way they do business.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund and for them to be investigated for the way the do business.

Review: Name your own price is a scam. You have to put your card info in to get a bid. Then they debit your account and will not refund your money.

I've used priceline.com for years. Always had to put card info in to make a bid nothing has changed as I could see ad least I thought. I went through the same process of bidding a rental car. I did not read the terms because the process was the same as always. You have to enter your card info in order to get a bid. Priceline have the customer put their card info in before they will give you a quote back on a bid and now they are debiting the customers account without your knowledge and will not refund the customers money. I wanted to compare your price with your competitors. After seeing that the reservation was processed without my knowledge and checking my bank account and seeing a debit from Priceline I called minutes after bidding to cancel and I was told I could not get a refund. I feel if the person doesn't call ahead to cancel or show up to complete the transaction that would be a reason not to refund their money. You ripped me off for $74.22 that I do not have to just give away. They also are taking customer's money for rental car companies that require you to have a credit card. If you make a reservation with a company that offer the best deal Priceline does not verify whether the company only accept credit cards which will mean if you don't have a credit card and you make reservation with one of those companies you can lose your refund because car rental agreements are non-refundable. The deposit varies by the agreement you make with Priceline and you don't have all the info until you complete the reservation. So you can't really ask the rental car company questions until you complete the reservation process with Priceline. So that leaves you stuck. I will never do business with your company again and I will make sure to put the word out about how you miss lead your customers by having them putting their card info in before they can get a bid just so you can steal their money.

Review: I booked a stay through priceline.com. The stay I booked was for a Hotel in [redacted]. The priceline info for the stay is as follows. Hotel Confirmation #:Room 1: [redacted] / Room 2: [redacted] / Room 3: [redacted]Priceline Trip #[redacted]The stay was at the [redacted]. I rented 3 hotel rooms. The rooms were all full of mold but the worst part of the stay was that one of the rooms had dried blood on the sheets. I did not notice the blood when I went to bed late at night, however in the morning when I woke up and noticed I immediately went to the hotel front desk and complained. The front desk referred me to priceline.com because they are who I actually booked the hotel through and payed. Priceline.com refused to give me a refund saying they spoke to the hotel and would not be issuing a refund. I payed for a service that I would say would include a CLEAN bed to sleep in and I did not receive that service. I want a refund and since priceline.com is the one I payed for the service they need to be the one to resolve the issue.Desired Settlement: I want a $103.47 refund for the price of the rooms that I booked. That is the summary of the charges. If a refund is not possible I want a credit with priceline.com on my next booking of a room = to the $103.47.

Dear Mr. [redacted],

Review: Hi,

On 1/21/2015 I was checking for motels/hotels in the San Francisco area. I found a interesting Inn and clicked on the listing. The [redacted] website stated only 1 room was left on the page I was looking at. I browsed the page and saw that I had the option to change or cancel this reservation if I needed to 2 days before the date of arrival. I went through setting up the reservation, I entered in my credit card, it stated that they needed the credit card to hold the room. After clicking submit I received a email of my reservation. I looked the reservation over and found that for some reason the room was now no longer able to change or cancel. I was appalled because I had just went through the reservation process only because I knew I had the option to change or cancel.

I called and emailed [redacted]. The man I first spoke with told me I must have picked the cheaper option with no cancel. He intimidated be saying "You must have saw the cheaper price and selected that one, it happens all the time" This was definitely a insult as I know I selected the option to cancel or change the room.

I then posted a warning to my friends on [redacted] to be careful with [redacted]. I was then contacted by a member of their social media department and she said they would look into and try to get the room canceled by the [redacted] of San Francisco. After I had logged my first complaint over the phone with [redacted] I find that my credit had been charged for $179.38 by the [redacted] of San Francisco.

I then received a response from [redacted] stating that the [redacted] will not refund me. I sent a detailed letter to [redacted] asking for their help. I then received a email back stating that the [redacted] will not refund and will do nothing for me. I stated that their web site glitched on me and they responded that they could not replicate the error and sent me screen shots.

They customer service person also stated "If you'd like to discuss the charge further, we do kindly ask you to speak with the hotel. I'm sorry I am unable to assist further. " I felt horrible [redacted] would not own up to the error on their site.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of $179.38 and my account deleted from [redacted] and Priceline.com.

Review: I purchased a rental car purchase from priceline recently and this was the first time doing so. The rental car company was [redacted] however the deal was purchased through priceline. I had issues with the rental car where the breaks/alignment was bad as well as the car smelled like smoke. I attempted to reach priceline to resolve this issue but they were not willing to help. They took my information down, gave me a case#[redacted] and said they would research this and get back to me. A few days later I received an email from priceline stating that [redacted] would be providing me a $25 credit for my inconvenience which does not make any sense since I paid almost$200 for the rental car through priceline. The email also said to call [redacted] directly which I did and was told that the issue should be resolved through priceline since I made the purchase through them. Its amazing that priceline customer service is so terrible that they will not back services that they sell whether it be through a 3rd party company or not. I am so upset that priceline is not willing to help or even give me back a portion of my funds. I even called multiple times to ask to speak with a supervisor and was advised no supervisor was available and this is the final result. I feel that this should be resolved by priceline since they received my funds, especially when they are such a big company.Desired Settlement: Refund

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:I understand that [redacted] gave me back $25 plus now you are giving me $25 as well but this doesnot cover the $200 I spent on the rental cost through Priceline. I should be provided something better than this since I made the purchase directly from Priceline not [redacted]. Please assist a better resolution. This is bad customer service on Priceline part.

Review: I have tried to resolve this with Priceline but they have said they will do nothing. Several weeks ago, I reserved a car for 10 days. I then tried to reserve a hotel in [redacted] for one night. I used Name Your Own Price. I first chose 4 stars, but since that didn't work, I chose 3. I was given, however, a 2.5 star hotel. Within one second of seeing this, I called Priceline. I spent over an hour on the phone with various people, all of whom told me tough luck. They said I had agreed to a contract. I could have lived with this, but there is something that no contract law will allow: the hotel is undergoing construction. I called the hotel and was told that the rooms are indeed shabby, the pool and spa and other areas are CLOSED, and the construction crews make noise all day and night. in fact, there may even be bed bugs!! Under any theory of contract law, this transaction is not a contract. But priceline refuses to refund my money. The hotel said that they would, but they can't; Priceline received my money. I am NOT going to this hotel due to the warnings I have received.Desired Settlement: Priceline needs to remove the charge and comp me a night or two at a hotel for the incredible inconvenience.

Dear Ms. [redacted],

Review: Priceline sold me a vacation package with Spirit Airlines that charges for all carry-on baggage and also a hotel that was advertised as not having resort fees. My boyfriend and I had to pay $100 both ways to carry on our bags ($200) and then when I returned home I had been charged a $112 resort fee. I went back through Priceline's website and saw they did have a list of baggage fees for each airline. I just assumed that carry on bags were free on Spirit as they are on most domestic flights. But the resort fee was not disclosed. When I was looking at the different hotel and flight packages, Paris in Las Vegas was the only hotel close in on the strip listed without a resort fee. We scrimped and saved to go on this vacation. We had $900 to spend between the two of us for a 5 day vacation. I feel like $300, a 1/3 of our vacation money, was poof, gone. The baggage fees are unfortunately my mistake for not looking up Spirit Airline. But the resort fee? There are people on Priceline reviews talking about how Paris does not charge a resort fee like the other hotels. Priceline did not disclose the resort fee either. I feel like I should be compensated 112.00. Priceline should be forthcoming about all of the fees involved in their vacation packages.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

There was no mention of a $20 per night fee on my contract. I will submit a copy of the contract so you can see for yourself.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2013/04/22) */

From the priceline website:

"**ny airlines charge extra fees for checked baggage"

We were charged $50 per carry-on bag by Spirit Airlines. This cost us $200.

On my itinerary, resort fees are only mentioned in a list of "incidental" fees like making phone calls or room service. I have never heard of a "resort fee" before. It certainly did not mention anywhere that I had to pay 22. 00 a day for a resort fee.

It also says on the priceline website about the Paris Hotel and casino that "All guests receive a daily voucher for **ndara Spa and Salon".

We never received this either.
