Rick Mayer Cycle Reviews (62)

Review: I ordered my seat in May, seat production was to start in June. As of the end of October, I have not received my seat. I have e-mailed, called and faxed requests for updates on when the seat will be shipped. The replies I get from Rick at Rick Mayer cycle have been a laundry list of excuses and out right lies. I have requested a refund, which has been ignored, and responses to my refund are met with more promises of completion in the next week. I have chronicled my experience here. [redacted]Desired Settlement: Full refund.

Consumer

Response:

Customer states that he is expecting to receive his refund by the 15th of December and will call back if he does not receive it.

Review: I sent Rick Mayer a motorcycle seat to re-shape and re-cover along with $350 service fee.He has now gone out of business and has not attempted to contact me and/or refund myseat and money.Desired Settlement: I would like Rick Mayer to either return my seats and the $350, or refund me $1,100 for the cost of the seats and the service charge.

Review: The seat for my BMW motorcycle was shipped to Rick mayer at the end of November with a projected start date of Dec 02 2014. I have called and faxed Rick Mayer cycle at the end of December to ascertain progress but could not get through as the phone is disconnected. They billed my master card for the full amount of $380.32 on August 13 2014. It is Feb 20 2015 and I have not had my seat returned and despite sending emails and letters to the company I have no response about whether the work will be done or if my seat can be returned and my money refunded. Rick Mayer was supposed to work the seat to make it more comfortable but no-one in his office is returning calls or emails and the phone is disconnected most of the time.Desired Settlement: I want my original seat returned to me as soon as possible and I want $380.32 refunded to my credit card as well as $30.00 for me having to ship the seat to Rick Mayer.

Review: [redacted] took $454 payment on 7-11-2014 to build custom seat. Once he had my money,he become unreachable. When I did finally hear back after three weeks of trying he asked me to be patient and he would amend the issues. After agreeing reluctantly to allow him the benefit of the doubt and to continue on with the process a few days later I heard from my bank that my account had been compromised and that the charges were originating on my debit card from CA. The bank examiner on my account felt that using the card with with [redacted] could have been the culprit. We have no proof of that and of course [redacted] denied any connection to such activity. Seems fishy how coincidental the timing and location of the unauthorized charges were though. Regardless of that, after allowing him to talk me into going forward with our now quite delayed deal Mr.[redacted] became even more elusive, not returning/answering any calls for over three more weeks of attempting to reach him by phone. Finally after leaving an indignant message he returned my call weeks later on Sept.9th 2014 at which time he agreed to refund my money. I was told that I would have it back in up to 30days and that he was keeping $54! I`ve not gotten my money and need it all back ASAP. Once I realized this person is not trustworthy I found out about his F rating with your company and many more complaints through the Red Bluff,CA Chamber of Commerce. This man needs to be put out of business in my opinion, as well as making all his bad dealings right and pay some fines or suffer some sort of punishment(jailtime) to stop this predatory behavior from continuing. Please help me so that we can warn other unsuspecting consumers in the future of these types of monsters. Thank You. from disgruntled consumer...Desired Settlement: return the entire amount, he deserves no refund or cancellation fee whatsoever. $454 total! He made no mention of this $54 fee when he was so diligent in TAKING my payment. He must apply credit back onto debit card immediately. If anyone deserves $54 extra it is me. He has now had my money hostage for nearly 120 days.

Business

Response:

Business states that consumer has been issued refund.

Review: A deposit of $500 was sent to secure custom motorcycle seats for my bike. Once the OEM seats were returned the deposit was not refunded. I contacted [redacted] and was told via email on Oct 25,2012 "I regret the delay, it is not a book keeping matter, but a cash flow problem. We experienced an unexpected draw on our account, and are recovering.I promise it will be returned as soon as I can catch up, sorry, I wish I could give you a better answer.Doing the best I can under these current business conditions."Since this email I have not been able to get a reply from this company regarding my deposit refund.

Business Response

I regret the lateness of this response-this letter jsut yesterday came to my attention. I have reviewed the complaint raised by Mr. [redacted] of [redacted] and I do see where a refund of $500.00 was approved. However no monies were forwarded to Mr. [redacted]. I regret this over sight and I will be processing a refund- Mr. [redacted] can expect a check within 10 days.

Consumer Response

[redacted] stated that I could expect my refund within 10 days on November 12, but to date I have received nothing. I have tried to be patient, but I have little faith in his promise.

It took several months to receive my seats back and I still have not been able to get my deposit back . It was promised the 1st week of October and then the 1st week of December but here it is the middle of February and nothing ! This is beyond frustrating !!! I like the seats but I can't stand being lied to ! I have emailed and called but get no response .

Review: I paid for the seat reconditioning on Jan. 15 2015Was told it was scheduled to be started on Feb 5 2015 and to have it shipped there no more than 2 days before.I ship the seat so it would arrive on Feb 5, Receive an e-mail on Feb 5 to delay in sending seat due to a surprisingly large spring sales. I checked my tracking and [redacted] signed for it at 11 AM then sent me an e-mail at 1:30 PM to delay shipping the seat.I tried calling during their normal hours and get no response until the second day (now Feb 6)when I just kept calling and calling and calling. I get [redacted] on the phone and told her my concerns with the reviews I have been reading online and she told me that she was going to have Rick Call me and help explain everything.Rick never contacted me. I have been trying for two weeks to get a hold of them with no success. Phone number on their website is disconnected. The other number I had one success with has been sent to a phone with a voice mailbox that has not be set up.Desired Settlement: I would simply like my order to be completed as promised. I want my completed seat returned to me with in 2 weeks.

Review: I contracted Rick mayer Cycles to build a custom motorcycle seat for me at the Seattle Motorcycle show in Seattle in November. I initially wanted to rent a seat pan from him so I paid him $600 which was a deposit on the work and a $500 deposit for the seat pan. The schedule stated april as the time when he would build my seat. While waiting for the time frame to get my seat built I acquired a new seat and no longer required his. I attempted to change the order on his web site and proceeded to attempt to call or write emails to him. most went unanswered. Finally I was able to get a hold of him and he told me to send my seat and he would include a check for the difference when he returned the completed seat. ($240)While he had my seat I received no notifications and I could not communicate with rick or his employees. I finally reached him via email and once by phone. in total I sent 37 emails to his company. Communication was in short very poor. When I finally received the custom seat it was uncomfortable and fit poorly on my bike. I researched this more and found out that His web site states he uses a particular high quality foam to build a fully customized seat. My seat however - after I remove the cover is obviously made of lower standard foam and is built up on the existing stock foam seat. this is very different from the process and materials he claims to use on his site. This was reinforced by the fact that I spoke with the company he represents as the one he buys his foam from and they too state he does not order their product. this seat was not what I contracted rick to make for me and is well below expected quality.Desired Settlement: the seat is poorly done and communication was awful. I would like ny deposit refunded and some portion of the amount he took to build my seat. It is not what he represented and must be redone. I would accept that I did receive the seat covers which are seemingly good quality.

Review: In on Nov. 5, 2014 I paid a $250 deposit to Rick Mayer Cycles. The next day, without my authorization, he charged my card a second time for $250. I tried to get a refund from him and was given the runaround, so I started a dispute with my credit card company. They say they cannot collect the money from him because he was able to show evidence of both transactions. The evidence is copies of the two charges (on 2 consectutive days)he made on my card. The credit card company says they are signed, which they are not (although they do both have a scrawled loop on the sig line) the original legit charge was done over the phone so I could not have signed anything. I have tried to call Rick Mayer Cycles to settle this directly but his phone number is no longer in service. The price of the seat that I had him make for me was $450. I paid the balance of $200 in cash on Nov. 29, when he made the seat for me. I discovered the double charge on Jan. 6, 2015., which is when I contacted him regarding a refund. At this point I have paid $700 for a $450 saddle.Desired Settlement: I simply want the $250 he has stolen from me refunded

Review: I sent my seat to [redacted] to rebuild the padding, recover, and purchase a raincover for it in Oct of 2014. For drive in customers this is a one day deal. After several statis checks by me, in Dec I was told my seat would be shipped "right after New Years". Talked again Jan 30 and was told I should recieve shipping info "in a day or 2". Now the phone seems to be disconnected, and they don't answer any emails I send. Look at the website rickmayercycle.com and see what is offered/promised. I have paid approx $500 in advance for this product/service, and this company has my seatpan for an over 30 year motorcycle (meaning hard to replace).Desired Settlement: I want my paid for seat back, hopefully finished.

Review: I contracted Rick Mayers Cycles to recover my motorcycle seats and prepared for the service in early December 2014. The start date was e-mailed to me as Dec 19th 2014. After numerous excuses for not recovering my seats (holidays, delays, busy etc), he finally gave me a bogus USPS tracking number with a mail date of 1/31/15. No package has ever been delivered to the USPS. I even told him I had a vacation scheduled for Feb 15 where I was going to trailer my bike south to ride. Had to cancel the vacation. I have instituted a charge back with my credit card company. This business owner is obviously a scam artist who is more than willing to take your money and give nothing in return. He should be prosecuted and shut down.Desired Settlement: Refund and ship back the seats that I shipped to him. I will still have wasted money shipping the seats to him and had to cancel a scheduled vacation because of NO seats to use on the motorcycle

Review: We purchased custom motorcycle seats in April, we didn't get our seats till July. At that time we asked for a refund on our deposit as well as a refund on our heated seats and rain cover we did not get. We have called several times and every time [redacted] says he's "researching" the info and will call us back, however we never get a call back. He only works 9-3 PST time Wed-Saturday, and his phone line is also a fax line so it's very hard to get through to anyone.Desired Settlement: We would like our deposit of $500 plus the the heated seats at $200 plus the rain cover of $39 so total of $739 refunded back to us either by check or through [redacted].

Review: I began correspondence on-line Jan 7th with a sales associate [redacted] to make arrangements through the website [redacted] to place an order to have my motorcycle seat rebuilt. I filled out and submitted an electronic order form on Jan 8th and sent a [redacted] payment the following day The [redacted] R1200C Motorcycle saddle and backrest was shipped to Rick Mayer cycles via [redacted] on January 14, 2015, I received delivery conformation from [redacted] that it had been delivered and signed for. I received and e-mail conformation from Ms. [redacted] that the build on my saddle would begin on Feb 5, 2015 and would take 7 -12 business days to complete. I have sent numerous follow up e-mails (9) to inquire about the status of my saddle as well as trying to call numbers [redacted] and [redacted]] that have been disconnected. At this point if the work is not going to be completed in the next 20 days I would like a full refund from RickMayerCycles and my saddle returned to me as soon as possible so that I can pursue the services elsewhere. I am so disappointed in the level of customer service that I have received from this gentleman, this would be my second Rick Mayer saddle, as I was very satisfied with the first one and there was no question who was going to do my "next" saddle when the time came. Please let me know if you need any additional information to follow up with regard to this matter.Desired Settlement: I have presented Mr. [redacted] with several options, via email that have all gone unanswered: The first that he return my saddle and backrest and provide a full refund of $285.00; The second that I travel to Red Bluff, CA from Spokane, WA to pick up my saddle and back rest, completed or not, and a refund is provided for any unfinished work and finally that we settle this matter in Small Claims court for $760.00 for the cost of the seat, backrest and a refund of all incurred expenses.

Review: I own Allsport Powersports, Inc. in Decatur, AL I sent Rick Mayer a 2013 Yamaha Super Tenere' rider and passenger saddle. Along with the saddle I sent a note asking someone to call me to confirm the material, the color and the approximate turn around time in making this custom motorcycle saddle. I have had five other Rick Mayer saddles in the past and all were of top quality and well worth the cost. We install them on motorcycles here at my store to help sell the units. Rick Mayer saddles were always of interest to our customers and help sell the units. This time I have received not response to many emails and the phone number [redacted] answers with a message that the user has a number that does not have a voice mail set up. These seats I sent in retail for over 400.00 and I paid Rick Mayer 399.00 inclusive of shipping to customize the two seats based on inseam measurements and material to be used. My hope is that this is an oversight and that Rick will take care of me as he has in the past. I do not wish anything other than to get the seats he promised me in a timely manner. I will continue business with Rick Mayer if this is resolved in an amicable manner. I know he is a rider and I have known him as a great seat builder and as a industry friend. Thank you for your help in resolving this matter. Sincerely,[redacted]Desired Settlement: To get my custom seat ordered in good faith or the return of my stock seat and refund of the 399.00 I paid Rick Mayer through PayPal. He would have to verify the build information as the seat was to be custom made for one of my customers. 256 355 9706 press 0 and have me paged.

Review: Met Rick Mayer on 2/07/14 at the international motorcycle show in Chicago. Paid Rick $334.00 to have the drivers and passenger seats reupholstered. Shipped seats on 4/24/14. Was promised a 2 week turn around. Received a tracking number on 5/29/14. Seat was not shipped. Multiple calls and Emails to Rick and was told multiple things. Already shipped, Will ship tomorrow, will start on it right away, and others. Finally received my drivers seat on 9/23/14. No passenger seat. Multiple calls and Emails and Rick said my seat was lost and he could not afford to replace it.Desired Settlement: I want a replacement rear seat upholstered to the specs we agreed on to match drivers seat or replacement of both seats and full refund per Ricks Warranty.

Review: On September 13th 2014 I stopped by the Rick Mayer Cycle shop in Red Bluff, CA and placed an order to have a solo style seat made for my 2012 r1200gs BMW. Payment was taken and an email was sent out stating a build date of September 26th for my new seat (email received on Sept. 17th 2014). I followed up on October 8th by telephone and email, as I had not heard from RMC about my new seat. I received an email response stating that my seat should ship by the 10th of October. Today, October 15th 2014, no word from RMC, the phone line I have for their shop is disconnected, and emails have gone unanswered and their website is suspended/not working?!?! Due to previous Revdex.com complaints about RMC I am worried I may be out of luck without your assistance! I paid $380.32 for a new seat I don't have! I want the seat I paid for or I want my money back!Desired Settlement: I want the seat I paid for or I want a full refund of my costs.

Review: Rick Mayer Cycle does custom seats for motorcycles. I paid him $369 in advance in April. He received my motorcycle seat by UPS ($82 shipping) on June 18, 2014. As of July 25, 2014, he has not returned my seat. He has not responded to several e-mail requests for the order status. He will not answer his phone. I am beginning to think his is an internet scam. The advance payment and replacement value of the seat I sent him add up $740.Desired Settlement: As I have already had to purchase a replacement seat, I would prefer to get my money ($369) and old seat back. If he wants to keep the original seat, he can send me $740, my payment plus replacement value of the seat. I'll eat the [redacted] shipping cost.If the order is completed and or already in process, send me the completed work quickly. Thank you

I believe that of Feb 5, 2015, he is out of business. I had sent my seat to his shop in Red Bluff CA via USPS and then got an email on that day that I had to be rescheduled due to "higher than normal spring sales", asking that I delay sending in your seat if you have not already done so, and that I will receive an email "in the next few days with an updated scheduled date". He has not responded to phone calls or emails since that day, and had forwarded mail to a PO Box in Cottonwood CA. I checked with his Red Bluff next-door business neighbors and they told me they had seen a moving van at his shop in the previous few days. To make a long story short, it is March 4, and working solely through the USPS, I finally got my seat back unmodified and the total shipment cost to me (out and back) was just over $100. Never do business with this company if it exists or is reincarnated.

Review: I ordered a seat from Rick Mayer Cycle at the Seattle Motorcycle Show on November 23,2014 from Rick Mayer himself and paid a 100.00 dollar deposit at that time. About the 12th or 13th of December I got a call from Rick Mayer requesting the balance of 334.00 dollars and the seat off my 2007 Rocket 3 shipped to him. I paid using my [redacted] bill payer and shipped the seat with UPS for 55.66 dollars. I also emailed pictures as requested of myself on the bike. I was told that my seat would be done right after the first of the year. Shortly after the first of the year we began looking for the seat and looking at the website, and then tried calling the number listed and got a disconnect notice. We searched the website, found an additional number and called and left a message. I received a call back from [redacted], heard explanations of unplanned changes in phone service, discussed seat details and received assurances of delivery. Not many days after got a call from a female claiming to be the bookkeeper seeking payment and looked up online my billpayer confirmation of payment received. She then claimed to have found it, pleaded difficulties and newness and again I stressed seat details. Several days to a week later I got another call from [redacted] himself and again we went over seat details and was promised imminent delivery. Since then all attempts to contact Rick Mayer Cycle has proved fruitless. I have purchased a stock replacement seat for 200.00 dollars. I have contacted the Red Bluff PD who referred me to [redacted] of the Tehama County Prosecuters office. I have just filled out a questionaire from them and am making a formal complaint here.Desired Settlement: Restitution at treble damages, the website taken down, further solicitaion of business either online or at trade shows prohibited, payment made for 4 months motorcycle unusable without a seat and monthly payments were made on an unusable motorcycle at 202.37 per month, and prosecution for fraud as I feel this person had no intention of doing anything other than taking orders, money and motorcycle parts from people he intentionally set a baited trap for.

Review: I ordered a seat for my 2012 BMW R1200GS on June 4, 2014. I paid in full$594I have not received the seat as of February 27, 2015I have tried to contact the business by Phone and e-mailthe phone is disconnected or not answeredlast response was in september 2014Desired Settlement: promptly deliver the seat or return my payment in full
