Regards,

Review: I ordered a pair of earrings from Rodale, Inc. on April 28, 2014. After three weeks of not receiving the item, I called to cancel my order. Rodale's said that I would need to wait until I received the item in order to cancel my order. I received the item on May 28, 2014. I put the return label on the box and sent it back the following day. I have called Rodale's at least three times over the last month to find out when my refund will be credited. They claim that they have not received the item. They also claim that they do not have the tracking number for the item. Their label did not have any portion for me to retain. They have refused to credit me for the item. They claimed that they would return my call about the item within 24-48 hours and they have still not returned my call. I just want a refund for an item that I do not have. I have followed all of their procedures to no avail. They have been exceedingly unhelpful in responding to my attempts to get a refund.Desired Settlement: I just want the money I spent with them refunded. I hope nobody else has as bad an experience as I have had dealing with this company.

July 8, 2014Dear **. [redacted]:In response to your notification of July 01, 2014 regarding [redacted], our records show an order was placed for earrings on April 28, 2014. The order was shipped on May 02, 2014. According to the tracking report, the longest delay occurred after the package was received by USPS in [redacted], AK. The package was delivered on May 28, 2014.On May 28, 2014, [redacted] contacted our customer service stating she wanted to return the earrings because the delivery took too long. The anticipated return time was similar to the delivery time.On June 20, 2014 **. [redacted] contacted our customer service inquiring about her return. Our representative advised her that it had not been received in the system yet and asked for the tracking number. She was not able to provide that information. The representative explained that a refund could not be processed until the merchandise was received. On June 23, 2014 8:00pm EDT, **. [redacted] called again and was advised the same. At this time the issue was escalated to a supervisor for review. Due to our normal business hours, the supervisor was not able to review the issue until the following business day.On June 25, 2014 our home office was advised of the situation. I was personally researching the issue with both customer service and our distribution center. On June 27, 2014, 7:30pm EDT [redacted] called again inquiring about the refund. At this time, the earrings had still not been received, however based on the time lapse; our office approved a good-faith refund. A credit of $66.95 was issued the same day at 8:00pm.On June 27, 2014, 7:52pm EDT, [redacted] filed this complaint with your office. The earrings were received in our distribution center today, July 8, 2014.Please feel free to contact me if you need further assistance.Sincerely,

Review: To the Customer Service Manager of Rodale,

I am writing to bring to your attention an issue that I have been encountering with your sales/return policy.Prior to receipt of order # [redacted] a sales representative contacted me and stated that they would be sending an item which could be returned if unwanted. Within a few days of the phone conversation I received a book titled "Peak Conditioning".Having no interest in retaining this book, I returned the item the following day.

Following precise return instructions enumerate with the shipment, I packaged my invoice, along the book, and sent it to the return address provided well within the return window. After a few weeks assuming the return was satisfactorily processed, I received an invoice in the amount of $35.95. I subsequently called your automated customer service line and was informed of no returns on my account. Assuming it may have been a timing issue, I periodically checked to see if the return was processed.

I then received in the mail today a notification stating that my payment is past due. The letter went on to imply that I have been ignoring your invoices and not attempting to contact the customer service department. I find this extremely frustrating because I returned this item months ago and tried contacting your company on numerous occasions but to no avail. The automated customer service representatives do not seem to be very responsive. To prevent this trivial $35.95 from affecting my credit report, I paid the invoice under protest.

I am highly dissatisfied in the lack of customer service in getting this issue resolved and in the fact that I am being forced to pay for an item which I no longer possess. For a company that states "Your 100% Satisfaction is Our Goal", you feel well short of that intention. I hope to hear back from you soon regarding this matter.

Sincerely, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like to have the $35.95 amount credited back onto my credit card since I do not have this item.

They insisted on sending the book, saying if I did not love the book, should simply contact them to return it at no charge. They sent an auto-acknowledgement of my e-mail, but have done nothing.Desired Settlement: Issue a return authorization with no charge for shipping, as promised and fully credit my account. Review: The company sent me a book I did not order. After I contacted them to return it, they did not respond and are pursuing collection actions.

I received a [redacted] Manual of Health and Aging. It surprised me, as I had not ordered one. I received the first bill for it about a month later. As I had never ordered the manual, I called the number on the bill, and told the customer service representative that I did not order the manual and wished to return it, so they would stop sending me bills. The representative promised to send a return envelope which never came. I've been receiving bills from this company, and they've referred the bill to a collection agency. I already told them I have no problem returning the item, but I am not going to pay for something I did not order.Desired Settlement: I would like them to stop sending me collection notices, and honor what their representative told me. Send me the return information so I can return the product.

Review: I started receiving books from RODALE without my having any knowledge of signing up for them. I have refused shipment each time. I have been receiving bills, and then this week a collection agency notice. I feel that I have been taken advantage of due to my advanced age. It is possible I was confused by a phone solicitation at some point and inadvertently accepted their product. I have no memory of this thought.Desired Settlement: Rodale to stop sending me books, remove any charges currently billed me, and cease the collections process.

Review: Rodale has been harassing me with invoices for a product that I never ordered. They send calendars to customers who don't order them, and then expect payment. Additionally, customers are expected to send back the calendar at their expense. This is a very underhanded business practice. Rodale needs to remove all my information, stop asking for payment, and put my account balance to zero.Desired Settlement: They need to remove me from their system, make my balance zero, and they should stop doing this to customers.

Review: I never ordered a book from this vendor and received a book in the mail. I had to return it at my own expense and was advised by customer service rep. that I must have ordered it from them. They continued to bill me after they received the book. Which I sent UPS.

My mother also received several statments in the mail from this company for a product she never ordered or received. They harassed her and advised they would turn her over to collections until she paid the bill. She paid the bill because she didn't know what else to do.They prey upon the elderly who they frighten into paying them for things they never ordered.Desired Settlement: I would like this company to be investigated for their marketing pratices.

Review: Ob 6/26/14 I received an email from this company stating "shipping confirmation. your order is on the way". I immediately called the company and advised them I did not order anything, so don't send. They said it was too late, and just mark "refused" on the package when it arrived. Although I did receive bills for this item, I never received the order (which I repeat, I HAD NOT ORDERED. I wrote to the company and sent it back with their bill last week advising them that I had neither ordered nor received the item, so I could not return. Today, 9/16/14, I received the items they said they sent nearly 3 months ago. The return address on this package is very small and light (unreadable, unlike my name and address which are totally readable). Therefore, I did not trust that writing "refused" would get the books back to the shipper. Nor did I trust that this shipper, who said they sent items I didn't order, billed me for items I never received, and then 3 months later sent the items, would actually stop trying to collect payment from me for something I did not order, do not want, and will NOT pay return shipping to give back to them.

Additionally, right after their bogus "order received" email, I started getting a ton of emails using my first name and asking how my family is in the subject line.Desired Settlement: I want postage paid return envelope for items and no further contact or billings from this company. I want my email address removed from all of their records.

Regards,

Review: I received a gift subscription to Runner's World for Christmas. This morning, I checked my mail to find a heavy package labeled with the Runner's World logo. Excited that it might be a great book on my new sport, I ripped it open. Unfortunately, it wasn't a free gift. Instead, I got a copy of The Merck Manual of Health & Aging (I'm 29). Included with this ridiculous book was an invoice for $37.94 to cover the book and shipping. I called the number on the invoice ([redacted]) and pressed "0" to get an operator clearly located in another country. I let them know that I did not order the book and would not be paying for it or the shipping to and back from me. I intended to tape the package back up and label it "RETURN TO SENDER." The operator insisted that I ordered the book through one of their telemarketers...He even told me the date I had "ordered" it. I then questioned him...If they have the date I ordered it through their telemarketer, then what phone number did they call me on? He cited a number in my area code that does not belong to me or anyone I know. I told him I knew they were lying and asked if that was how Rodale does business. He said they send promotional books to people unless you request to be removed from their list. I asked that they remove me and also my sister since she received a gift subscription, too. He told me they'd send me a prepaid shipping label to return the book and that it should arrive in 5-10 business days. I let him know that I planned to trash the book if I didn't receive it by then, and that I will NEVER subscribe to or purchase a Rodale product in my life. I'm incensed and disgusted by the hassle they've caused me.Desired Settlement: Rodale should apologize to me and show they mean it by reviewing and/or changing their business practices. I desired to have the Runner's World product, but didn't realize I was unknowingly dealing with a company that scams their own customers and seems to be preying on the elderly and less-savvy consumer. This is no way to treat your customers.

Review: I received a book in the mail that I never ordered. I emailed the customer service telling them I never ordered the book and all they were able to tell me was that their records showed I ordered the book June 25 2014 online. I told them I did not and they continued to send me bills. I went online to a few different forums to find out that this has happened many times with other consumers. Rodale will send them a book and then follow up with a bill. I am extremely frustrated because I never ordered this book and I do not have time to go to the post office and return the product. I also read that this will most likely happen again as this company is notorious for sending books multiple times to people. I believe this is unethical practice and I don't think it is fair for a company to send unsolicited products to consumers and then expect them to pay and or return the product.Desired Settlement: I have said numerous times in my email that I would like them to take me off any email lists and stop contacting me. I would appreciate if I did not have to return the book because I don't think its fair for me to waste my time because of their error. I do not want to receive any more unsolicited books or magazines from them especially when they send a bill with it expecting me to pay.

Review: I ordered a book with a 21 day trial affirming if I kept the book it was $19,99 + 6.99 with a note on the website I ordered from saying there was 50% off. I called Rodale when I received my bill for $43.54 (now they're saying it's $47.54) which they claim was the price of $45.95 or $49.95 as indicated and that they wouldn't honor the advertised price saying I misunderstood and at the end of the advertisement, it did show $49.95 or $45.95 and the 50% off discount was for the online order. I know, confusing. However when I placed the order it redirected me to complete a form which showed the book to be $19.99 so of course, I thought it was a great deal with 50% off. I ordered. received the book with an invoice billing me $31.95 + s&h for the book. I called to question the error so I could pay for it and got the answers above. I even offered to pay the $19.99 & s&h since it was on the order form even though the 50%, come to find out was a trick for you to order, not only at $19.99 but, in the end, to ream you for the exorbitant amount of $40+ upon paying for the book. I would NEVER have ordered this book for anymore than $20.00 and probably wouldn't have ordered it had I known the 50% didn't apply but I was willing to negotiate with them, offering, hesitantly, to pay the $19.99 plus s&h price accepting I may have misunderstood, even though I don't think I did but not the other amounts they are claiming is the cost. They also never took into consideration the invoiced amount was for $31.95 + $7.99 s&h price. It appears they're confused as to what the actual price is as well. The representative was understanding and willing to work with me but when she presented it to her supervisor, the answer was no. So, I told them I was contacting you to help me resolve this matter so that's what I'm doing. It's a cheaply made book that anybody could've slapped together with cardboard. Since, in my view, this is false advertising and because they were unwilling to negotiate with me, I want to return the book and my account deleted with a 0 balance. I'm so sick of scammers and false advertisers. They're everywhere on the internet and this years it's being pounded in my head, people are so dishonest that I don't want to order a product or service on the internet again. IF in the future I choose to order, I will not only check their Revdex.com accreditation but I'll [redacted] the company and product first as I've learned, after being scammed a few times, that these scammers are pointed out on [redacted]. Please also take into consideration this book is only $7.54 on [redacted] and other stores cheaper than what they offer. Had I have known what I know now, I would've ordered through [redacted] or one of my other book stores at a lower amount. In the meantime, these false advertising companies and scammers need to be stopped. If they're trying to ream me, there are thousands of others they're trying to as well. Thank you for your assistance.Desired Settlement: Allow me to return the book and delete my account after applying a credit to my Order #[redacted] for Account #[redacted] since they don't even know their price and were unwilling to negotiate with me on the price for this cheap book I haven't picked up to read because I've been so busy. Response:

May 12, 2014Dear [redacted]:In response to your email of May , 2014 regarding consumer [redacted], our records do not show a payment being received from **. [redacted]. I checked with our IT department and the company that processes our credit card payments. The order for PV Flat Belly Cookbook was a billed order with a 21-day free preview. Her[redacted] card was not charged for this book. If **. [redacted] believes a payment was made for the book, she should submit proof of that payment. When I stated that **. [redacted]s account was credited 47.54, I was referring to her Rodale book account and not her [redacted] account. A credit was done so she would not continue to be billed for the book. Her account is at a zerobalance. Please feel free to contact me if you need further assistance.Sincerely,?
