Route 69 Auto Sales & Service Reviews (83)

This is a great place to check if you are looking for a good deal on used cars. I was almost overwhelmed by how much of a selection there was. They have to have close to 200 cars there. I was looking for a used Nissan and I know there were over 10 to choose from. I had a great experience with our sales guy Dave and would highly recommend him and Rt 69.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!!! Shady dealer! Never ever trust them!!! I had problems right from the beginning with the car never being ready when they said it would be, and never returning my phone calls. They got a cashier check for [redacted] (2004) from me almost 1 month ago and I still could not pick up my car. Each time they tell me to pick up my car on the certain days and when I send transporters on those days they never give the car. I even doubt that they have that car in their warehouse. I am going to report the Police and DMV.

RE: Complaint I. D. # [redacted]   The customer...

purchased a 2006 [redacted] from us on or about February 17, 2015.  The customer also purchased an extended warranty from [redacted] Corporation through our dealership.     When the vehicle was delivered the mirror and the molding were installed on the vehicle.  The Department of Motor Vehicles normally takes 4 to 6 weeks to get the new title to the owner.  The registration the customer claims to need to refinance the vehicle, was provided to him at the time of the delivery.  The vehicles are registered in-house electronically as we are connected to [redacted] online and have the ability to register motor vehicles right at the dealership.     As for the warranty the customer must have contacted the [redacted] Corporation prior to them having received our premium payment to them.  We have written verification that the policy premium has been paid and that the policy is in full force and effect.  I have simultaneously sent written verification to the customer.           Sincerely,[redacted]

I spoke to Mr. [redacted] earlier today. I discussed his options with him. I relayed to him that we could either refund him his $1295 for the warranty or we could offer him a new warranty from our new Warranty company [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] opted to...

to take the refund of $1295. We are putting the check in the mail today and he should receive it in the next few days.
Also let it be noted that when we discovered that there was an issue with his warranty and an issue arose with his vehicle, we did the only right thing and repaired his vehicle at no charge to him.  Despite the issue with his warranty, we did all that we could to satisfy Mr [redacted].

I have never had an easier time buying a car then at Rt 69 in Prospect. I saw a car I liked in [redacted] Magazine so I called the dealership. They promptly transferred me to a Sales Associate, Dave, who confirmed that the [redacted] I wanted was still at the dealership and how many miles were on it. He said that it was outside and covered in pollen and asked when I would be down. I exclaimed I would be there in a few minutes, he said great Ill see you when you get here. So when I arrived I was expecting the typical wait 20 minutes, then finally get to see the car. Or even worse the" O well I have to run your credit before you can drive THIS car" To my surprise the car was pulled up waiting for me, glistening! It was spotless in and out. The salesman actually cleaned it before I arrived so I could see it in its glory. After driving the car I fell in love. They gave me about $1200 more for my trade in then the dealership I had gone to the day before, AND discounted the car $600 to match the ad they had in the Magazine! Again I couldnt imagine being happier with not only the car, and the deal, but the dealership as well. I will be referring my friends and family to this dealership, even maybe some old enemies, the deal I got here could mend family feuds!!

 (P) [redacted] (F) [redacted]April 10, 2015Revdex.com, Inc.[redacted]RE: Complaint I. D. # [redacted]   The customer...

purchased this vehicle which he owned and operated for approximately six weeks.  Thereafter, the customer notified us that a mechanic to whom he took the vehicle allegedly determined that the frame had some rot in a couple of areas and that in his opinion the vehicle was unsafe.  Because we strive to satisfy our customers, we agreed to repurchase the vehicle and did so on March 5, 2015, as opposed to debating the road-worthiness of the vehicle.  It is our position that this vehicle is in fact safe.     It is unclear why our DMV clerk believed that the [redacted] form was the wrong form for this customer to obtain a refund of the sales tax, however our research discloses that this is, in fact, the correct form     Therefore, I have caused this form to be completed and it has been sent to the customer simultaneously with the filing of this response.  We understand our customer’s frustration but it was an honest mistake which we have rectified.       Sincerely,[redacted]

Good morning [redacted]
Let me start by saying that we have gone above and beyond what any dealer normally do for a customer. We ordered parts(cosmetic parts. No safety related items.) for the truck and since you needed the truck on a certain day and the parts had not...

arrived yet, we agreed to drive all the way across the state to pick the truck up and repair it, drive if all the way back across the entire state. Any other dealership would mail the parts to you and tell you that you are on your own with everything else. Including the light issue which may I add was repaired by our ASE certified Master technician on the day we picked the truck up for repairs. Simply because you had signed all of your sale documentation that you purchased the vehicle in "AS-IS" condition. But we are not like other dealers and we want to make our customers happy. We aren't your typical used car dealer who only cares about taking your money. We will and continue to go above and beyond to attempt to satisfy our customers.
Your truck passed our safety inspection. It wouldn't have passed if you did not have brake lights. There was an issue with lights in the rear of the truck, but your brake lights have always worked and the vehicle has always been safe for the road.
As far as the airbag light coming on, it was not on when we were in possession of the truck. If it did come on, it was after we went out of our way to drop the truck off to you. Also lets be honest with each other. You never said anything to our driver about the airbag light. The only thing which was mentioned was the fact that one of the cosmetic parts was missing. Which was previously disclosed to you earlier in the day. These are used cars. There is no way of knowing when something will go wrong with them. We are not fortune tellers. We can not tell the future.
If you look at your printed purchase order as well as the original hand written purchase order, you will notice that the total out the door dollar amount is $9000. You left us $1000 cash deposit the first night you were here. We also agreed to give you $1000 allowance for your trade in vehicle. A 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Which you claimed was in decent condition with only the steering box that needed repair. That gives you $2000 down. When you picked the vehicle up, you paid the balance of $7000 the night you picked up the vehicle. These numbers all equal $9000 which was the agreed upon out the door figure. You did not over pay us and we do not owe you any money towards the vehicle.
Lastly, we did give you an $1000 allowance for your 98 Jeep without seeing the vehicle because we took your word that  it was in decent condition. The frame on the Jeep is rotten all the way through. If we knew that the frame was rotten then we wouldn't have even extended you an offer for the vehicle because it is unsafe for the road and now all we can do is bring it to the junk yard. The junk yard is only giving $75 per car. We also had to pay a tow truck driver $300 cash to have the vehicle towed here. When it arrived we were in shock at the fast that the frame was completely rotted out. Therefore we are out $1000 which was the allowance for your trade and the $300 for the tow. Minus the $75 we will recoup at the junkyard. we are in the red $1225. Therefore Its pretty much a wash.
We will still honor our promise to you and complete the repairs which were promised, but that is where our kindness ends when we extend our hospitality to people and all they do is badmouth us. When the last part arrives we will be in touch. Thank you. (Please see attached documents)

We were not aware that [redacted] was planning on moving to Connecticut. [redacted] must be withholding the truth from her parents. [redacted] has a [redacted] license and [redacted] insurance. As far as we are concerned that makes her a [redacted] resident. Therefore [redacted] is ineligible for a Connecticut registration. Route 69 Auto Sales and Service has done absolutely nothing wrong.

Route 69 Auto Sales and Service replaced the alternator with a brand new one from the manufacturer on ms. [redacted]'s vehicle the day after this complaint was filed. Before Route 69 Auto Sales and Service had any knowledge of the complaint. We never gave anyone the "runaround". There are steps that...

need to be taken to ensure that we are not throwing money at a problem frivolously. We promised you that we would fix your problem and your problem was fixed. No one was trying to run down miles on a warranty. In fact we will extend your warranty if that is what you felt we were trying to do. The fact of the matter is that we fulfilled every promise. Also we did not make you walk home. If you did walk home it was 100% your choice. We tell every customer that needs service that the vehicle needs to be dropped off. If you did not follow instructions you can not hold us accountable. If we did have an available driver you would have had a ride home. Both of our drivers were out of state delivering a vehicle in [redacted]. We do apologize if we made you feel that we wronged you in any way. If it is any consolation, We thought you and your boyfriend we very nice people and we still do. Everyone here at Route 69 Auto Sales had nothing but kind words for you and your boyfriend

Thank you to Mike and Dave for your help buying my [redacted] truck. The truck is exactly what I was looking for and I appreciate you guys doing everything you said you would to it and still getting me behind the wheel a day early!

[redacted]RE: Complaint I. D. # [redacted]   The customer...

purchased this 1996 [redacted] on or about February 28, 2015.  The error occurred in the office with an emissions form showing the vehicle had passed and was placed in the deal jacket.  Subsequently it was determined that this form applied to another vehicle with a very similar VIN.     As soon as the problem was identified, our mechanics made diligent efforts at repairing this vehicle so that it would go through emissions.  However, an issue with the computer proved very difficult to resolve.  The customer requested a refund due to the delay and we honored her request.     The month of February saw at least seven separate snow events which cause serious disruptions to a car dealership.  In addition, we experienced a very high sales volume which led to the customer being told her refund had been sent in error.     An internal audit revealed that the customer had not, in fact, been sent a refund.  We have sent a full refund to the customer simultaneously with this response.  We sincerely apologize for this error and the delay.    Sincerely,[redacted], Esq.

I was looking for a nice family SUV and they had a lot of different ones to choose from which helped us get what we really wanted. Very friendly and low pressure. I love the 2005 [redacted] we got and will definitely recommend them to anyone we know looking for a used car.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! I bought a car from Route 69 Auto Sales in the middle of Sept. 2014. Out of the first 44 days of owning this car, they had it for 26 days. I would be told "it will take 2 days to fix" and then I wouldn't get it back for 6 days. They never returned phone calls, they were rude, they acted like it was my fault for the car having issues.
These were minor issues in the big scheme of things. The car had a 30 day warranty. So when the check engine light came on, I had it scanned and was told it was the catalytic converter, I took the car right back to Route 69 Auto Sales. They also agreed it was the catalytic converter and agreed to replace it. They had the car for 6 days. Finally, after numerous other things being wrong, I thought I was done with this business.
In February, I took the car in for emissions. Lo and behold, the car failed due to the catalytic converter and a non-working check engine light. I took the car to a mechanic other than Route 69 Auto Sales to check 1) had the catalytic converter been changed within the last 6 months and 2) why wasn't the check engine light working. Here's the results: 1) the catalytic converter was the factory original and 2) the check engine light (behind the dash) had been "punctured and disabled". Route 69 did agree to replace the catalytic converter, but said "We've already gone above and beyond for you and we're not going to get into changing the bulb."
Thank God I had been documenting everything (even though Route 69 never gave any kind of paperwork for the repairs they did) and I filed a complaint with the Department of Motor Vehicles. DMV was wonderful and they were able to get Route 69 Auto Sales to replace the check engine light bulb (which would have cost me $1500.00 at the [redacted] dealer) so my car was able to pass through emissions. Route 69 Auto Sales is so disrespectful that when I went to pick up my car, the hood was covered in motor oil and they acted like it was my fault when I asked them to clean it up.
Beware of websites where all the reviews are positive. On some sites the dealers are able to manipulate the reviews and add lots of positive reviews. Please learn from my mistake and do your own research into this company. Lastly, when I dropped the car off to have the bulb replaced, Mike L. said to me "let's get one thing clear, if I see anymore negative reviews online, I will not finish working on your car". So now that my car has passed emissions, I'm able to post my experiences with Route 69 Auto Sales. whose legal name is [redacted]. dba Route 69 Auto.

I just brought my [redacted] home and have to say this has been by far the easiest and most pleasurable car shopping experience so far. I always buy used cars every 3-4 years and have never found a more down to earth group of sales guys as they have at Rt 69. Thanks Bobby and Mike I will see you next time around!

Worst Car Buying Experience Ever!
First - Don't expect the place to look anything like what you see in the pictures!
Second - They will say anything to sell you car but wont stand behind any of it
Third - You need to understand a few things before you attempt to purchase or service a vehicle here...
1--First they will sell you the car and make you come back and pay for it before it is ready, all we needed was the right front tire replaced. We shopped for it Tuesday, Dropped the check off on Wednesday, and picked the car up on Thursday. (i also live 45 minutes away)
2--Here's to the service department who took 2.5 hours (I wish I was kidding) to replace that tire........
3--I then return because the tire sensor light that was suppose to be resolved with this new tire, still wasn't resolved.
4--I come back and have them "fix" the vehicle 2 additional times, the light still does not turn off. So now we have been here 6 times from 45 minutes away.....
5--return the last time and they brought the car to a [redacted] dealer but never told us we wouldn't get the car back that day so once again we leave car-less (this may not had been the outcome if they were smart enough to realize that you cant make an appointment a dealer the day of and expect the car back the same day.....we had made the appointment with 69 for two days prior....plenty of time to actually the schedule the car to be worked on.)
6--The day we leave car-less we end up being yelled at by both the owner(who really wants to be at his house in Florida) and his mechanic (who has now "fixed" every time we had brought it back, but yet still having the same problem...). They really don't understand that the car isn't fixed nor has it been if i'm still leaving without a car......
7--They say they have a warranty but obviously it means nothing since I eventually walked out of the [redacted] Dealer with my car, that I paid for the repairs on, because Route 69 Auto was fighting with [redacted] about having to pay for the work they had just done since clearly its next to impossible to change a tire sensor.
Moral of the story if want to be miserable and jerked around by an extremely arrogant owner and a mechanic who probably doesn't know what a car is, then head on down to Route 69 Auto and prepare to not be greeted as you walk in the door!
Sincerely,
The boyfriend, who you think is an it for knowing my car isn't fixed, when i'm WALKING home from your service center without my car...

We have just spoken with [redacted] and credited his deposit of $250.00 back to his debit card this morning and further explained the policy of needing the documentation.  It was great to hear how much he is enjoying the [redacted]!

I purchased a lemon from this place, the car didnt run for a week before it died. The vehicle was supposed to be covered by the 30 day warranty which they refuse to honor. we are out the vehicle and the money. DO NOT purchase anything from this dealership, they are unethical and scam artists.

Review: When we decided to buy the 2003 [redacted], we gave rt 69 auto sales a $250 deposit, which we did on our debit card. We secured a loan through our bank ([redacted]) and my wife went back to write a check for the remainder of the $4800 we purchased the van for with a bankcheck from [redacted]. She asked if she could write the check out for the full $4800 and have our checking credited for the $250 deposit. [redacted] said it would be fine but since I wasn't present, just my wife went to get the van, he would need me to sign some documents, mail them back, and they would then credit our account. I signed the papers and mailed them back. When my wife contacted them about recieving the paperwork, they acknowldeged they received it but had no recollection of the $250 deposit. Now they are asking for us to fax them the sales receipt, something they already have a copy of.

This is the only complaint I am filing, but I am going to add that 3 days after puchase we had to bring the van back for an oil leak and no working headlights. How could a safety inspection have taken place with no working headlights. I also had to replace the front brake pads within 45 days. I really don't think they did any inspection.

I have documentation through my checking account statement and a copy of the check my wife wrote that we have paid rt 69 $5050 and a copy of the sales receipt stating we agreed on $4800 total for the van. Instead of jumping through hoops for them, I am filing a complaint with you.Desired Settlement: All I want is my checking account to be credited the $250.

I can point out their other shady practices on the websites they advertise on.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely,

Did not tell us the truth on what they were going to give us with the car. told us when the car would be ready & it was not three times.. Lied to our garage on the day that the car would be inspected by them . Cost us a month getting things done on the car. Just not truthful with us

I can not thank Dave and Mike enough for helping me with the purchase of my replacement vehicle. 3 weeks ago I totaled my [redacted] and the process dealing with the insurance and how much do I get how much do I not get has been a complete and utter nightmare! Dave made the stress a lot better by showing me cars that were in the range of what I "thought" I was going to be getting. Sadly this wasn't the case and when I found out I was a few hundred short, Mike came to the rescue and gave me a great deal so I could get the car I wanted. Thanks again guys!
