Safebound Moving & Storage Reviews (%countItem)

Untrustworthy company, will take your money before confirming you actually want to use their service then won't give you your money back when you say you're not going ahead! DISHONEST, UNTRUSTWORTHY COMPANY!

The office staff was great and so we're the movers. However I was never told that if I didn't accept next day delivery I would have to wait 3 or 4 days for delivery. I'm at day 3 of being in an empty home. I had an overage and they wouldn't work with me on the balance even though I had completely paid for my move prior to moving date. The people I dealt with in reference to my overage were not very pleasant either. I would never use them again and I certainly wouldn't suggest them to a friend.

Safebound Logistics damaged our furniture and misled us about the final cost and means of transport.
My spouse and I hired Safebound Logistics to conduct my fifth inter-state move and my ninth move since leaving the college dorms. I have experience with moving and have moved my things by myself more than once. Those moves were far easier and less stressful than this one. My spouse and I purchased our furniture recently, so everything was in excellent to new condition before we moved. Our move was delivered on July 20, and we immediately complained to the delivery crew. We contacted Safebound via email on July 22 and have yet to receive a response.

Safebound sent a single mover to load over 8,000 pounds of furniture and boxes. We saw him crack a piece of the base of our dining table and make three cuts into our floor length mirror.

My spouse asked the mover to use multiple blankets for our white lacquer dressers, and he agreed but didn't follow through. Almost every piece of furniture arrived with scrapes, scratches, dents, or stains from the blankets. I provided photos to Safebound via a Dropbox folder showing the damages to a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted bar made by my father, 4 Bookcases, the aforementioned mirror, a Media Console, Coffee Table, Dining Table, 3 Dressers, Tripod Floor Lamp, Freezer, Memory Mattress Foam, New Sharp Microwave, 2 Nightstands, Wardrobe, Shelving Unit, and a Utility Cart, much of which came from Crate & Barrel, CB2, and West Elm.

Additionally, a set of dresser legs were misplaced and the center leg of our sofa has disappeared, rendering the sofa unusable.

Prior to delivery, I asked for an updated quote and *** sent it twice. I asked for the precise amount needed at delivery, and he told me to subtract what we had paid from the total amount on his quote. I cut the check for that amount, but the delivery crew informed me that I owed an additional $228 that was accidentally left off the quote. They told me I could pay it via credit card, plus a 4% processing fee. We called the main office, and after heated words, they waived the processing fee, but I was still angry that the final price wasn't the final price.

This was not the worst lie that Safebound told me. During the sales process, I specifically asked *** if our belongings would remain on a single truck from beginning to end. On July 12, I sent an email summarizing this expectation based on an earlier phone conversation with ***. He assured me (via phone) that it wouldn't make any sense to unload everything and then load it back on again and promised more than once that everything would remain on a single truck from beginning to end. In retrospect, I should have found it strange that he always replied to my emails with a phone call rather than an email, but it seems like he was trying to avoid putting his promises in writing. One of Safebound's competitors was up front with us that they would have to unload everything and transfer it to a larger truck for the trip to Florida, and we chose Safebound specifically because of Mike's promise, even though your quoted price was slightly higher. As noted above, many items arrived damaged, but whether this happened during the loading process or when they were unloaded and re-loaded at the warehouse, I can't say. I can say with certainty that our belongings didn't arrive in the condition they were in when we started this process.

Desired Outcome

I ask Safebound to refund the $228 that was not included in the July 16 estimate and pay for technicians approved by the merchants of our furniture (Crate and Barrel, CB2, West Elm, etc.) to make repairs to our damaged items. For items that cannot be repaired, we ask Safebound to replace them.

Document Attached***
We are very sorry to hear of any damages that may have occurred during your move. We do see that we sent you out a claims form on July 23, the morning after you contacted Safebound regarding damages. We do see that $228 charge was for additional packing materials that was not anticipated prior to pick up, but was necessary to protect your items. The additional packing charge was signed on 7/11, the day of your pick up. We waived the processing fee as a courtesy due to the fact that you stated you were not aware of the charges. The reason for that would be to better protect your items during your move. You should certainly thoroughly read any and all documents before signing them, as our documents do show that all pages of your inventory were signed off on, including the condition of each item at origin.

Customer Response • Sep 20, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Mike, the loading mover (singular, mind you), was in a terrible hurry to finish and hardly waited for us to gather the last few items. He certainly wasn't willing to give us time to read every page carefully and decipher the codes used to describe the condition of our items at origin. After delivery, we spent nearly an hour figuring out what the letters and numbers meant, only to discover that he had lied. Mike marked all eight dining chairs, an armchair, an end table, two headboards and footboards, a third dresser, and a third nightstand as being scratched and/or soiled, but all of these items are still in perfect condition. This proves that his list of damages is not only incorrect, but intentionally fraudulent. We challenge anyone to visit our home and inspect the itemsit's obvious that he made up the entire list of conditions. Worse yet, he even listed both items that HE damaged right in front of us as being damaged at origin, making no note that he was responsible for those defects. Given the way he was pressuring us to sign as quickly as possible, I think he was intentionally trying to cover his own mistakes. Please note that while accidentally damaging items is incompetence, misrepresenting the condition of furniture on official paperwork is fraud, which is a crime, and one that we can definitively prove.
Mike never told us before using materials for which he would later charge us. I would think that to be a basic courtesy. We had plenty of our own packing materials and even left some behind unused. Had he asked, we would have declined what he provided and used our ownespecially since whatever he provided failed to protect our items. This makes me question just how "necessary" they were. Again, yes we signed the sheet, but only under pressure to do so quickly. Additionally, this charge was not part of the emailed final bill. That should have been the time for this discussion, not the morning of delivery.
Our primary mistake was trusting Safebound Logistics and your agents to be honest. Looking back, it seems you were misleading us every step of the way. I can't imagine any circumstances under which I will ever hire Safebound Logistics. I would move my furniture in my own car one piece at a time before I would ever trust your company again.

Safebound Moving & Storage Response • Sep 21, 2019

If you felt at any point uneasy about signing the paperwork or pressured, that should be been relayed to the office at that time so we could speak to the foreman and see exactly what was going on. We are in the office and not on site, so we couldn't possibly know the events transpiring unless we are informed as they occurring. At the end of the day, the paperwork was signed and that was your acknowledgement as to the condition of the items. Unfortunately while we strive to provide excellent service, damages can occur and that is why if you haven't already done so, we encourage you to file a claim with the insurance for any damages.

Safebound Logistics sub-contracted to Direct Movers whose service was strikingly different than the original (no assembly, no car delivery, no stairs)
Contracted with Safebound Logistics 4/19/19 for disassembly of furniture, loading of furniture, and boxes and delivery to Florida. Gave $250 deposit to hold car transport also. Safebound's *** sent a recap before the move stating: "you will now stay in contact with dispatch until the completion" - dispatch was unavailable when we called, or out of the office. "You will be made aware of the 4-hour window" for delivery - WE called the truck to find out where they were and they showed up at 9PM. "Items are protected before they are moved" - tape was used to wrap wooden furniture, which is still adhered."Labeled with specific colored stickers, numbers, and the item type" - this did not happen at all."They will bring each item to the desired room & reassemble all furniture we have taken apart" - the crew (a driver and his wife) informed us they do not assemble or carry up stairs, just deliver. I had to hire a moving company in town to assemble the furniture and carry things upstairs.

Desired Outcome

Although several pieces were damaged in transit, we acknowledge that things shift. However, my daughter (64yrs) had to assist the woman and the driver unload (4.5 hours x $50 hr = $225), and a $250 deposit was given on the pretext that it was holding the place for a car transport - although when the trucks arrived to load they said "we don't transport cars". I had to hire a local company (***'s *** for 2 hours to re-assemble the furniture and carry furniture and boxes upstairs to the proper rooms ($350).

Safebound Moving & Storage Response • Aug 14, 2019

Hello,

Safebound has tried reaching out to offer a compensation of $150 for any complications with assembly/disassembly and stair issues. Please let us know if this offer is accepted to resolve this matter.

Would not do business with these guys again. If you do it is at your own RISK! Wife shopped around and found these guys. Contacted ***, more than happy to take order and deposits. We were moving household goods and a vehicle. Started calling for a date he gave her a range of 5 days said would call 1 week before. Not being able to schedule cost us an extra $500 in airfare and two extra nights in a hotel yet another $300. Was promised our jeep would be picked up on Monday, flight leaving Tuesday morning. No call, no show. Called 5 different numbers over 4 hours including our salesman ***, no answer, finally got a call from dispatch, oh we bid the jeep to low and no one would pick up. So obviously was never scheduled. Wife had to drive the Jeep to their location to have picked up. That took another 3 days. Night before delivery we called since driver failed to call us, again no answer from *** come to find out transport truck transmission went out and jeep delayed 1 week. 5 Additional calls to ***, not one answer. Still two weeks no personal belongings. Finally got hold of Dispatch. He said oh yea your stuff is still in our warehouse. You should not even expect your belongings before 21 days. Now to be honest, I had a move from Atlanta GA. with Mayflower to Kailua Hawaii that made it in 21 days. He told me well it is not going on a truck before then next 4 days then we will call you to deliver. Told him about the Jeep he said will have *** call. Two days later still no call. Note: when my wife dropped the jeep off she spoke to *** (Owner). He said well we are a small company you cannot expect the same customer service as a big company. Boy does he not get it. Customer service is usually better and requires work on the employee's part. ***'s employee's certainly follow his leadership. POOR.

Dishonest stating they are not brokers to get a deposit. Then outsource and my stuff was broken or lost completely. Claims is no help to replace items
After initial request for a quote, *** from Safebound calls and emails on almost a daily basis, took the time to tell me about the other companies I said I was also looking into and made a point to tell me that they are NOT brokers like the other companies and that they only do full service professional moves themselves. I questioned multiple times and it was stated that my stuff would not be handed off to anyone else and would not go into a warehouse but it would be a direct move for approximately $3800 from MN to TX. Their prices seemed competitive and the reviews online seemed overwhelmingly positive. I paid the initial deposit of $1800 and then different people call you from what you think is all Safebound to set up the move but all of a sudden their online estimate link is no longer workable and then the day of the move a different company shows up in a budget truck to move your stuff with what seemingly is a different policy. For my move on April 19, 2019 Delta Moving Systems is the company they outsourced and the movers were cluless in how to actually professionally pack resulting in many of my items broken or missing upon arrival. The main guy was seemingly very nice and coming off helpful so I did not realize the gravity of how bad the situation was until afterward. Delta Moving Systems, the company that Safebound chose for me without even giving me the heads up, also did not want to honor the written and verbally communicated statement by Safebound that only packing supplies that are used would be charged from the estimate. I had about 30 unused boxes that they still wanted to charge me for, and instead of Safebound customer service helping to ensure that their contracted company followed what they had in the estimate when I called them, they cut a deal with Delta Moving Systems and decided to charge me half of the difference. In the end when I received my hundrds of dollars of broken or missing items on 4/23/19 in TX I called Safebound to inform them that the move was a disaster and again called them out on lying about being a broker, they stated that normally they do the moves themselves but my route was a special circumstance required them to contract out (I found out same story they've told to others AFTER-the-fact) and all they could do was suggest I file a claim. Because they make their estimate link disappear and then Delta Moving Systems does NOT provide you with a copy of your contract even when asked, it would be near impossible to actually go through with a claim unless you were smart enough to take screen shots and pictures of everything and the paper contract. Thankfully I did. In addition, not only did they outsource the move once to Delta Moving Systems for the initial pack and pick up, there was a completely different set of people for the delivery that were not even a part of any company but they told me they were independent contractors. There were 3 sets of payments the initial deposit $1807.52 credit card over the phone, at the time of pick up $1420, and at delivery the remainder $460 being money orders.

Desired Outcome

I understand that a complete refund is probably not possible, but I honestly would like a full refund of at least the packing portion from the estimate of the move since I paid for a service that was not professionally rendered. I hold Safebound responsible for this because they outsourced to a nonreputable company that I had no idea about until the day of the move and had no time to research or decide if I would even want to use. I had no option but to go along with it because I had to be out of my place within 48h as the next person would be moving in. That would not have been enough time to coordinate a long distance move from MN to TX, on top of the fact I had already paid the initial non-refundable $1800. Upon opening boxes it was clear that there was no organization, things were not properly wrapped or packed resulting in damage and items were missing. The contracted movers at delivery (who I also had no idea I was getting and were not even part of an actual company but stated they were independent contractors) even commented that whoever packed was NOT professional and clearly had no idea what they were doing and mishandled my property completely. So I feel that I should not be charged for this portion of the move at all. The total from my estimate for this charge amounts to $805.

Safebound Moving & Storage Response • Jun 28, 2019

Hello ***,

We apologize for any damages incurred in the move and thank you for working with us to agree on a settlement amount. I see that the settlement check has been cashed so that will resolve the matter.

Thank you,
Safebound Logistics

Customer Response • Jul 01, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
To receive compensation for the broken/missing items from my move I agreed to no longer pursue a complaint.

Their customer service was awful and extremely rude. I had several issues where I tried to contact them and they would ignore my calls and emails.
It all started when we found out that the sales rep never explained to us that his original quote was going to change drastically as he was going to charge us by weight (not by number of boxes) which we didn't know. We had two different pick up locations and he also did not tell us that our things would NOT get picked up on the same day, and that one of us was getting picked up 2 days later. We did our due diligence and called the day before as we were told they were going to call us, didn't find out until they came to the first house that the second house wasn't scheduled for pick up until 2 days later again it's because they did not call us. When we called them, they were clueless and very unorganized. Also, they never told us they needed the rest of the payment before this as we put down our deposit. So day of the movers had to collect $2500 with no warning that we had to front this amount. During the move they took apart our couch as it was electric, 2 piece couch. I asked if they will put if back together in Colorado, they said yes. In the middle of that, I found that they scraped my hard-wood floor with the couch because they were careless. Same thing happened with my roommate and her dresser, they took apart the mirror and said they would put it back together. When they dropped off our things, all of the screws were missing for the dresser and couch, and the bottom of the couch was broken. Along with the broken couch, missing screws, they had 2 broken TVs, 8 broken glasses, and 1 of our boxes missing. A couch and two TVs - cost almost $2000. I event went as far as to send them a picture of the missing box, which wasn't your standard U-Haul box, instead, I had repurposed a box that I bought a suitcase from and used it to pack things. I followed up countless of times via phone and email to check on the missing screws and box and they would ignore my calls or come up with excuses for being out of the office. After all of that, we filed a claim to the insurance company and they only came back with $68.00 refund. How is a broken couch, dresser, 2 TVs, missing box and glassware add up to $68.00? It was truly upsetting and an awful experience and this company should not be out there.

Desired Outcome

I would like to get payment for all of my broken and missing items. I have pictures and evidence of all of these and would like to be reimbursed for this damage.

Thank you, I really hope you're able to make up for this horrific experience. Please find the attached document that displays the broken/misses pieces along with the claim.

I wanted to follow up on this since the vendor never reacher out or tried to resolve this issue. I'm extremely upset that it's taken almost a year to get this resolved. Is there anything that you can do to help me recover my missing items and broken pieces?

Thanks

Safebound Moving & Storage Response • Oct 09, 2019

We are saddened to hear you had damaged items after receiving the delivery. Unfortunately accidents can happen sometimes, but we certainly can understand your frustration with this. We are not liable for damages as we never had possession of your items we did not transport them. The insurance included with your move is through the carrier Big Boy. We would be more than happy to reach out to their claims department on your behalf. As far as the confusion about payment, this is standard across the moving industry, you pay a deposit to reserve your move, then the remaining balance is split between your pick up and delivery. The estimate you signed was weight based, so again we are unsure why you would think it based on a certain number of boxes. The reason why the quote would go up would be because you had more items than originally given to the sales rep.

I've used SB twice now. They did a great job at a very affordable rate. I've referred numerous friends to them, too. I hope I don't move again, but if I do, I will certainly call SB!

Great service from SB. They were exactly what you hope for when hiring a moving crew. Professional, efficient, and attentive. I'll use them again in a heartbeat.

Safebound Logistics was unable to perform my move and said they would refund my deposit and they never did.
*** (***@safeboundlogistics.com) from Safebound Logistics call me on Friday, February 1st about an inquiry I made on-line about moving my personal good from a storage unit in California to a storage unit in Virginia. I had already signed up with another company and Mike was telling me that they were not reputable and that Safebound Logistics was very reputable and would do a great job moving my personal items.

I wanted to have full insurance for the move and had already purchased a policy from Baker International Insurance. On Baker's website, they did not list Safebound Logistics as a company they insured. *** said he would list the move under a partner company, Leadership, that Baker International Insurance would insure. Mike told and confirmed in an email that he would refund my $1000 deposit if I could not get insurance for the move through Baker International Insurance.

When I got in touch with Baker International Insurance, they did not have any relationship with Safebound Logistics or Leadership (their partner company). I left several voicemails for Mike and spoke with him on Monday, February 4th to cancel this move. He said he would refund my full deposit.

I have never received a refund. I have called several times and sent several emails, but have never received a refund. They have not responded to my last email on March 31st.

Here is the last email I received on February 7th:

After months of trying to get refunded, they have finally accepted my the dispute that I did with my credit card company of the charge.

From scheduling to the last handshake and everything in between: this company is professional, efficient, and friendly! These folks worked hard to get the job done quickly and effectively. Very good quality for a reasonable price! I do recommend this company!

DO NOT USE!!!! MY belongings are being held hostage. Based on WAITING FOR someone moving to Michigan. So they're sitting somewhere on a truck. I have already had to buy clothes and shoes as we were never told that it would take that fn long. Our refrigerator was on there. My washer and dryer, etc. When I asked about this lack of information. One person the dispatch manager, said it was in the contract. NO IT WASNT. I was told by the self proclaimed "best salesperson" well if you had worked with me I would have charged you 8000, versus the 3700, so you would have gotten it quicker. No where in the contract, nor any communications, was this ever stated. The first time I addressed the response, via email, was "how long did you think it would take". No one is helping us, nor trying to give me a date and their voice changes when we call as we're not a priority. The salesperson we started with either quit or was let go. We're being penalized for that in my opinion. So I will have to buy more clothes for a vacation I had already planned. To say I'm *** off would be an understatement. To say there's nothing they can do is BS. So we're stuck. NOT HAPPY AND MASSIVELY INCONVENIENCED.

Excellent company! Team of professional movers arrived on time, packed everything carefully and were able to move a 2 bed apartment within downtown in 6 hours.

Customer, ***, signed Safebound agreement on 3/4/2019, and requested a first available move date of 03/09/2019. Customer agreed to a cancellation of "If the first available move date is within 5 business day sof the date I reserve my move, then my deposit is non-refundable." 3/4/2019 is clearly within 5 business days of 3/9/2019. I am including the signed customer agreement and cancellation email sent from the customer, which proves violation of the agreement. Any additional questions, do not hesitate to reach out. Customer also submitted a credit card dispute, which was ruled in my favor, which proves that SBL is clearly not in the wrong

I cancelled right away within two hours per the hour stamp in the attached first email when I realized that the business is not properly registered in the Florida Sunbiz. Mr. Perez from SBL contacted me by phone and told me he is properly registered and offered me a discounted move per the attached second email. At that point I had a lower offer at hand with a highly rated business and went with them. Mr. Perez never told me that he was intending on keeping my deposit and the move which was to happen anytime that weekend including Sunday 3/10/19 was never setup. The credit card company dispute department is rereviewing this case and they are not the Revdex.com.

Great moving company! Super fast getting back to me with a quote. On moving day, they were on time and were more than willing to go above and beyond the to make the moving experience less daunting. I will recommend them to all my family and friends.

I was very pleased with the level of service provided from start to finish. Receiving a quote was a simple phone call, setting up the actual move was just as simple. The quote and actual invoice were right in line, which is always much appreciated. I would recommend Safebound for anyone else, as well as use them for a future move.

I needed to move quickly and found SB online. After reading the reviews, I decided to give them a call. The gentleman that answered was kind, friendly and extremely helpful. I would use this company again!

SB was great throughout the whole process. Will was professional and set up the move quickly and answered all questions. He called the day before to confirm. Tommy and Frank showed up on time and were friendly, professional and did an amazing job packing, wrapping, and moving everything. I would definitely recommend these guys. They are the best!

SB was great! The booking process was easy. I had called 6 moving companies and SB was by far the most responsive. They called initially to talk through my items, and then called about a week before to confirm we were good on the date and time. Day of move, not only were they early, they also worked quickly. Everything got wrapped so there was no damage. They say you can't get cheap, fast, and good movers, but I felt like I got all 3 with SB. I would definitely recommend!

They moved my elderly mother from Miami, FL to Jersey City, NJ. It could not have gone more smoothly. The moving crew arrived on time and handled my mother's many breakable treasures with care. The price was very reasonable, and they accommodated all our requests. I wish there was a company out here in Texas like them but I have yet to find one. I'm a realtor and there is no comparison. Absolutely recommend these guys!
