Telemarketer from Easy Readers Service called my elderly mother who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and dementia and talked her into subscribing to a magazine service for $per month which she can not afford and has no use forWhen we found out about it the business was contacted by phone and the situation was explained to them and a request was made to cancel the subscriptions which they refused to do even though it is clear they are taking advantage of a elderly woman with dementia

I am writing to ask you for help on behalf of my brother-in-lawHe is receiving and being billed for numerous magazines that he insists he never orderedCurrently I have a list of eleven that he has receivedHis last name is misspelled on the labels and the billing statements and since he was getting pills by mail with the same spelling we assume that this company purchased his name and debit card number from themHe is elderly, housebound, very limited means, eyesight is so poor that he can’t read and has no interest in the magazines he is receivingTheir billing statements never say what magazine they are for and all money they have received from him comes from his debit cardI have returned several billing statements asking for cancellation and outlining his physical and financial conditionTheir response is that they contacted him by phone and he was in agreement which he denies and that they also sent him a letter by priority mailI monitor his mail as he does not open it

My mother had a stroke and the company keeps calling her , harassing phone calls, and asked her to buy more magazinesShe finally said okShe does not rememberShe currently is is no position to make purchases as she cannot remember even what year it isI tried to call for her and the woman was so rude and telling me they called and she said yes so she has to keep paying and getting magazineI asked how I can cancel or whom I can speak withShe was beyond rude and wouldn't answerShe made me get my mother on who then told her she wants me to be added to her account to make decisions & the woman will

Shortly after saying "Yes" to their sales pitch, within a few days, I called back to cancel They wouldn't let me I tried again later, and they re-worked the payment plan, which was (or was it 5?) years of magazine subscriptions that they wanted me to pay monthly on for a sped up period of years, originally They cut the payment in half I called back some time later and said I just wanted to cancel my subscriptions Two years had gone by, by this time, approximately They said that the contract I agreed to didn't let me cancel Since when can you not cancel a subscription? I told them to just quit sending the magazines They said they couldn't So I quit paying and changed my account so they couldn't draw any more money out of it Now they are threatening a collection agency I have a fantastic credit record But this just upsets me so much I want them to quit sending the magazines and quit hassling me Please help me

This is a terrible company They talk you into buying some magazine subscription and entering a contest They make you feel obligated to buy magazines , and pay for a two your subscription Then when you try to cancel your order they tell you you can't because they already paid for your magazines Then they never stop trying to harass you to make payments I had to change my credit card to prevent them from taking an automatic payment There is a good reason they have an F rating

I have tried to cancel a number of times .they say I cant and they have me on recorder I have listen to it at the time I was on numerous narcotics plus a sleeping medicine for chronic pain I told her I sounded like I was on this medicine and was unable to know what I was doing I also told her I would get a doctors note stating so.she said that it did not matter and if I was on this medicine I should have been used to it.she said she would send it to a collection agency I am on disability and cant afford this

I received a notice from a credit investigator stating I owed $ I had the option to pay $and close the account or pay the full amount and receive the magazines I choose the first option This payment was posted on back account November 1, I received another letter from a credit investigator dated November 7, stating I owed $as a final payment I called the investigator and was informed that there were TWO accounts in my name I am unaware of there being two accounts and why is there two accounts for the same address going to the same person? She stated that the first payment was for closing the renewal and the other was a final payment for the second account

I called United Readers service and cancelled my service on August 31, No one has record of thatI cancelled because the magazines I asked for I did not getI wanted fashion magazines Cosmopolitan and VogueThey sent me all other kinds of magazinesThey also promised a $gift card to Walmart that they never sentThey billed me also $per month from July to OctoberThey are now calling me wanting to bill me in excess of $
