Smart Pay is a huge rip-off and a scam!!!
I took my son to the store so he could buy a phone since he had a job, they said he could make the payments to Smart Pay every two weeks. No one said a word about interest charges or fees or anything, just the price, and the payment amounts which added with the down payment I made should have already paid off the phone, given the total. Nope. Now after all the money paid, somehow he still owes the whole amount he owed after my down payment. He has been paying for 3 months and 1 week. I just paid off the remaining balance and it was no less for paying 7 months early than it was at the start. This makes no sense at all. We never asked to lease a phone, we went in and said we want to buy a phone. There was no mention of any charges for using Smart Pay, nor did we request financing. I have a credit card already. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of and I am very angry, my son is 15, and this is his first job and he was buying this phone himself. I am on Social Security Disability due to having a stroke from a large braiin tumor when my oldest child was about to be born. Now we are both out around $550 and have only one new phone for the price of two. That was the original price of the phone. The guy at the store told us that was just how we made the payments, not anything about any financing or interest. I would have just bought the stupid thing if he had said anything about that.

Definitely a company trying to get credit card informationWas approved several times and sent multiple emails with approval codes and approved lease amount indicating shop now as well as reminder emails to shop before expired approvalThe problem is that when I attempted to use the email approval codes there was no where to apply the codes only a resubmitted application to smartpay that would generate a new text messaged approval code that when used would come back as denied unabl to process at this timeWhen contacting smartpay the reps were not knowledgeable they just read from a prompted scrip and avoid the direct questions asked such as why did I just receive a approval and an approval code in two separate emails then use the code to get denied and furthermore why does an account exist under my information still with two credit cards attached that smartpay will not remove?? Why would you approve me and store my credit account I information if you were not going to service me? Don't responded with I answered verification questions incorrectly because I was not asked any

This is absolutely the worst run business and how they score an A+ is beyond me I can be approved and unapproved all in one?!? Hmmm something isn't right and someone needs to get to the bottom of this!! All I wanted was to be able to have a working phone and know that its new but also not have to wait years to have the moneyThought this was going to be a great idea but customer service is horrendous and worse then straight talk itself!

SmartPay is a scam....periodI cancelled my order before the phone was to be shipped but SmartPay debited my credit card anyway and won't refund the moneyWorse yet they refuse to cancel future payments from my CC even though I cancelled my order and never received a phoneRead all of the complaints about this company before you place an orderThey are numerous and consistent

I would never recommend anyone to use this program I feel like I've been ripped off by a shady credit card company! I bought a device for $599.00, with the understanding that if I paid it off within the early buy-out (day) period, I would not be charged interest, or at worst a very low rate using smartpay By the time smartpay was done with me, I was paying $for my device, even if I paid in full the first month! If I were to remain on the "easy payment plan" my $purchase would have turned into $1,413.72; almost an extra thousand dollars! And as if this wasn't enough, they made the "early pay-off" option extremely difficult to accomplish There is no way to make additional payments on-line, AND you can only make payments in the EXACT AMOUNT shown on your lease, after waiting for a "customer service representative" EVERY TIMEThis is a backwards system that I wish I never heard about It takes advantage of people who are trying to purchase things they need on a fixed monthly income

Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 8, 2015/04/28) */ The following email was sent to the customer in response to their complaint on 4/27/15: Hi, My name is [redacted] and I am in charge of following up with complaints filed with the Revdex.comI've had a chance to review your history with us and I wanted to clarify a few items The first item I wanted to address was your complaint regarding the state of the items you leasedSmartPay's lease program acts only as a payment method that helps customer's acquire the items they want and own them after they complete all of their lease paymentsWe work with stores all over the country and because our application completed online (in-store), we rely on the store employees to make sure that the items being leased are what the customers are expecting to be leasingAlthough the description of the items you leased does not mention the locked/unlocked status of your phone that you mentioned, if you feel that the store misrepresented the items that were leased to you, we suggest that you discuss it with the store manager/employee that you worked with as it is something that is not in our controlIf you decide that you no longer wish to continue to make payments and maintain possession of the items leased to you, you have the option to return the leased items (at no cost to you) and all further lease payments will be cancelled With regards to the payment you disputed, the bank's decision applies only to whether or not the charge on your debit card was legitimate or not, not to your legal requirement to make lease payments that you agreed to payAlthough the bank decided that the charge (which you requested) was illegitimate, this does not remove your responsibility for the payments With regards to the collections calls you are receiving, the payment you disputed has essentially negated the previous payment you made and has brought your account to an overdue statusBecause of this, our collections agents will continue to contact you in order to work out a way to make the payments due for your lease Please do not hesitate to contact us with any other questions or concerns Thank you,
