You know you are wrong and stealing from people. It you do not cancel this I will have to file a court order I am trying to resolve the matter before it goes to court.

To Revdex.com,
[redacted] is correct when he said: "IT IS CLEAR THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO AGREE....".
However, HE chose this platform as a way resolved his disputes.
As a way to try and end this matter, I offer [redacted] a 10% discount of the original bill, ONLY IF THE OTHER 90% WILL BE PAID WITHIN THE ORIGINAL 30 DAYS GRACE PERIOD.
After November **, 2015 without getting paid I will have no choice but to consider this account as "not paid".
Please note, there will be no more "back and forth" regarding this account.

To Revdex.com,
I read carefully [redacted]'s "Statement of the problem" and I do not agree with her that "they look like coming from the Town or County".
Other then that, I am not sure what else to answer.
Regarding the "Desired...

Settlement", [redacted] is welcome to call me and we can hopefully work together on some adjustment.
Sincerely,

Horrible - I know that I am not the first person who fell into this so called business by Aria G**. This is a scam regardless if he has the correct paperwork identifying it as a legit business. I filled out the application that he sent thinking it was the star exemption letter but of course I gave him all my information to fill it out on my behalf when I could have done it myself. After recieving his bill in the mail I realized what happened and he took me to court - he never showed up and the case was dismissed however I have to go back to court once more. This business of his is VERY DECEIVING and should not be recognized as a legit business. It's unfair to people who move to Long Island for the first time.

[Your Answer Here]
Good Morning,
What is the resolution here? I was not given any type of relief as of payments wise.  I currently do not have 1,372 dollars in my bank account.  Nor do I have any cash/credit left in my name.  We live paycheck to paycheck paying for childcare, food, and other living expenses.  We live our lives very basic and use money extremely cautiously.  I thought this was a free government program.  I don't know how were going to pay this man, our lives have been turned upside down with the amount of money were going to lose.  Again, we have two children that this man is taking away money from.  We'd have to make a choice whether to pay him or feed our children.  Please don't make us have to choose.

[Your Answer Here]
The form was handed to me at the closing table as the only way to submit the star exemption with no mention there was a fee associated. This is a misrepresentation of the facts since I do not need a third party to submit a paper. Moreover, the requested fee is unjustified and excessive. It is unconceivable that to submit a form that I would have submitted for free, a one page form, a fee in excess of $1080 is requested. No service was provided to justify such fee, and I never agreed to pay any amount for the submission.

To Revdex.com,
As an answer to [redacted],
1. [redacted] forgot to mention that not only an application came through the mail, there was also a contract attached that he sign.
2. The contract specified clearly everything in regards to the...

service.
3. There was no such thing as "The alleged service, it's simply a service that was provided after a contract was fully executed by [redacted].
4. The invoice stay as it is.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

[redacted]To Revdex.com,I read carefully [redacted] complaint and I strongly do not agree with any of his allegations, they are simply not true, NONE IS TRUE.However, it looks like that one sentence will describe exactly what is really took place: "Shame on me for not reading...

carefully".Sincerely,

Review: I received Star paperwork thinking it was from the county and come to find out it was a scam. I should't have to pay for a free service. I am very upset because we can not afford this as a new home owner. I can't believe that this is even ok. They should be closed down.Desired Settlement: I am not paying for a service that is free and can't believe that I was sent this misleading info thinking it was for actual Star Basic filing. I would liek this invoice revoked.

Review: STAR Exemption Advisor uses deceitful tactics to get first time home buyers to file STAR tax exemption paperwork, swindling them out of their first year tax savings. The paperwork is sent to look like it is from NY State when in fact it is not.Desired Settlement: I would like the $956 I'm being charged to be dropped due to the company's unethical mailings and deceitful contract language.

Business

Response:

[redacted]To Revdex.com,It looks like [redacted] never read or saw the contract, otherwise he may respond in a different way.The charges stands.Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: I filled out a STAR Exemption application I received in the mail, which I believed was from the Nassau County Department of Assessment. It was actually sent from STAR Exemption Advisor a third party. They are now billing me for an exorbitant processing fee.Desired Settlement: A reduced fee.

Business

Response:

[redacted]To Revdex.com,The fee for the service was clearly stated, bolded and underlined within the contract.Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: I am receiving a bill from this company and I feel that they misrepresented themselves as a government agency. My husband and I had just purchased a house a year ago and applied for star exemption thinking we were applying for it through the government. We feel star exemption advisor acted as if they were the government agency and took full advantage of us. We we're certainly capable of filing this paperwork without there misrepresented advisement. They have swindled over $1000 from us in which they did not make clear of the substantial fee prior to application process.Desired Settlement: We do not want to pay this ridiculous fee that filing for the star exemption through the ny government would obviously not entail. We are first time home buyers and feel this company has taken full advantage of us for money.

To Revdex.com,

[redacted] is wrong and far away from the truth when she have remarks regarding Star Exemption Advisor as follow:

1. I did not "misrepresented themselves as the government what so ever, see Bullet Point # 2 (in bold and underlined): "Star Exemption Advisor is not affiliated with any government entity".

2. Regarding the claim: "they did not make clear of the substantial fee prior to application process", the opposite is true, look at the contract were it says, "you save an estimate $1,029 a year".

The invoice stand as it is.

Sincerely,

Review: I'm a first time homwowner. I recieved the paperwork for Star thinking it was from New York State. Instead I signed an agreement with a private business called Star Exemption Advisor. I recieved a letter last week stating that I owe $1058.00. I called the company and explained to them I didn't realize that he was a third party company. They said that they we're sorry and will reduce my payment $1000.00. I feel like I was taking advantage of as a new homeowner.

Review: I received a bunch of forms in the mail that appeared to come off as government forms being sent by the county to file STAR for my school taxes. I filled it out and it seemed they needed proof of residence since we just bought the house. I sign the paperwork and mail in the forms. I had no idea that I was sending paperwork I could have literally just mailed to the county and instead filed with this company thinking it was the county (since that is how they try and make themselves look). All the paperwork that I filled out they then just literally mail to the county. So instead of me mailing it they just took my paperwork, put it in a new envelope with the county's address and mailed it for me. I had no idea that what I was signing was a contract to pay them my entire first years STAR rebate of $1465.04. The whole thing is a scam and they prey on new home owners waiting for the star forms to come to them and then make all their paperwork seem like the county paperwork. Even their name "STAR Exemption Advisor" is all designed to trick you. It's a one time fee it says in the contract and that STAR never needs to be filed again. So basically, they send in the paperwork, get their money for the first year, and then never need to file for you again. This is totally a scam!Desired Settlement: I would like to not have to pay the $1465.04 or atleast half of it. It says we have 30 days to pay this. Where are we going to get that money? It's misrepresented and they know exactly what they are doing. I can't find any other companies that do this sort of service. I also don't even see a website for this company.

Review: The company misrepresented themselves. I spoke with them numerous times and they stated that they were the STAR company from the county. I filled out all of the paperwork and thought that I was speaking to the county. Instead, they had me sign paperwork as if they were the county and billed me an outrageous amount of money to do no service!!!!!!Desired Settlement: I do not want to pay anything. This company misrepresented themselves. I did the paperwork and filed it with the county and they are charging me an outrageous amount for NO SERVICE!!!!!!!

Review: I purchased a home in [redacted] (closed in June2013). My realtor, accountant and attorney told me to make sure I filed my STAR reduction before the year was up. I received third party solicitation from STAR Exemption Advisors. They filed my STAR paperwork to [redacted]. The STAR reduction was $1283, and STAR Exemption Advisors are now seeking the entire $1283 as a fee for their service of sending a letter to [redacted] on my behalf.Desired Settlement: This is a predatory practice. It's fraudulent and duplicitous. I'd like to never hear from these people again.

Review: I recently purchased a home in [redacted] in 2013. Shortly afterwards we received numerous applications, letters etc from various government agencies and private companies. We finally filed an application thinking it was directly to the [redacted] Star Exemption Program. We recently received the attached letter with an invoice for $1,427.00.I later learned that the State Attorneys Office has been investigating STAR Exemption Advisor which is located in Nassau County. The company has had numerous complaints filed against them on Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I dont mind paying something but the entires years tax savings is a little extreme.

Response:

[redacted]

To Revdex.com,

As an answer to [redacted],

I can not understand how [redacted] was "thinking it was directly to the [redacted] Star Exemption Program", UNLESS he did not read the contract.

A. There is no such thing as "[redacted] Star Exemption Program", the Star Program is a NYS Program.

B. Bullet point #2 within the contract says: "Star Exemption Advisor is not affiliated with any government entity".

Sincerely,

Review: This company sends letters to new homeowners that look like they are coming from the Town or County, reminding to file for the STAR exemption, with the Nassau County application attached. So, I filled it out, signed it and sent it back, thinking that I was filing for my FREE STAR exemption. Now, I got a letter in the mail, that they are charging us the amount of what our exemption was approved for. That is absolutely ridiculous. It should be illegal for them to solicit business this way. I have researched online and I can see that they have scammed many people just like me. Filing for STAR is free and takes only a few minutes. That's what I thought I was doing. As did many other new homeowners that have fallen victim to this scam. This business should be shut down.

To Revdex.com,

As answer to [redacted]:

First I searched for any message from [redacted] after our last communication on October **, 2014 and found none.

Second, if the continuances complaint to Revdex.com that I did not answer her message, I do not think that this is a complaint to be answered on the Revdex.com web site.

Sincerely,

Review: My wife and I moved into our home in May of 2014. I received a Star Exemption letter in Mid June 2014 from, what I thought was an official Nassau County office. The form and application was extremely similar to that of an official document from Nassau County (which can be found on the internet). This is very deceiving. Being a brand new ([redacted] time) home owner, and being very overwhelmed with the new transitions of homeownership, we felt obligated to sign the form, as it stressed that we only had 1 more week to do so (July [redacted] 2014). Once again, the form was written as though it was from an Official Nassau County Office. Today, I received an invoice from this "Advisor" stating that owe them $1300 for their "services." It is unfair to send such solicitations to brand new home owners who are in the progress of establishing their finances. Not to mention, homeowners who are transitioning. We were vulnerable and easily targeted to such a scam! This practice should be illegal. I've left several messages for this "Advisor," and they have not replied.Desired Settlement: I am not paying $1300 for an agency to take advantage of [redacted] time homeowners!

October **, 2015To Revdex.com,1. THE APPLICATION FORM IF NASSAU COUNTY FORM.2. WHY THE COMPLAINANT "WE FELT OBLIGATED TO SIGN THE FORM", I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.3. THERE IS NOTHING DECEIVING IN THE CONTRACT.4. THE INVOICE STAND. SINCERELY,[redacted]

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

It is bad practice for a company to send an official county form in an envelope to new home owners. Most people that open this letter and see the Nassau county form are under the false impression that they are filing for the star program themselves. When buying a new home, home owners are inundated with paperwork to fill out and we were under the assumption that this was not a third party service. I would not have knowingly filled out the form if I was aware that I would be able to file for free myself. After filing the form we were not contacted to confirm this service nor did we receive any other corospondence until we recieved a bill for these services. This is not the first time that this company has knowingly misled vunerable new homeowners. This is an unacceptable way to conduct business as it is misleading. Due to the misunderstanding on our part and the misleading practice in the part of this bussiness we think that it is fair to pay a reduced fee.
