STAR Exemption Advisor Reviews (103)

Review: STAR Exemption Advisor charged $1267.11 for filling an application on my and my wife's behalf. They obtained my information, and deceitfully placed their information with the official Nassau County Department of Assessment's paperwork application for STAR (School Tax Relief)reduction. This led me to believe that they represented Nassau County, which was not the case. They never once called to confirm any type of approval or that they received our application. One year later, my wife and I receive a bill for $1267.11 .Desired Settlement: To pay a fraction of the price billed for a service that took only 30 minutes to complete which I could have done myself.

Review: I was duped into using STAR Advisor's services because they make the forms look as if there is something officially coming from the state to file for your STAR. I will admit, I should've read through better to see what I was agreeing to but they are clearly taking advantage of new homeowners by sending them these forms and offering to file their STAR for them. I was mortified to learn that I owed them the EXACT amount that I would've gotten from the STAR exemption. I am completely capable of filing for my own STAR exemption and didn't need these services. Again, I know it was my fault for not reading through the paperwork thoroughly. I just feel that this company should not even be in existance or at least shouldn't be taking the ENTIRE portion of the STAR exemption for that year. It's criminal and the person we have spoken to there, "[redacted]"- he won't give out his last name because clearly he must worry about people coming down there to meet him face to face. I tried working with him on a payment plan because I don't want to be sued by him (which I heard he will do), and he was unprofessional and down right nasty. In the long run, I will have to pay this awful human being that is stealing money from people but I just can't believe that he is allowed to stay in business.Desired Settlement: Ultimately, I would love a refund but as I stated above, I know it was my fault, I should've read through the papers more carefully. If I did, I would have never had agreed to having him file this form for me. The desired outcome I want is for the Revdex.com to seriously take a look at this company to see what kind of criminal he is and shut this operation down completely so he doesn't take advantage of more people with his fake, official looking forms- they really do look just like what the state would send. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Review: as a new home owner we feel we were misled and taking advantage of. we were under the impression that we were filing a service with the state and not a third party company.Desired Settlement: contract terminated or fee reduced in half
