Apologies, we are unable to return the books, as they are now property of the publisher as they are not verified copies.   Publishers require us to turn the books over to them so they are not returned to the marketplace.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:

I received an email from Textbook Recycling indicating that they were returning my books. However I feel that the matter is not resolved until I have the books in hand. The reason is because I am a 53...

year old man who is putting himself through college and have better sense than to damage something that will assist me in attaining my goal. Secondly, how do I know that they are sending back the books that I sent them. I brought these books brand new less than 100 days ago; that's why I used the term slightly used. There is no ID# on them. They only have a ISBN#, which is the same on every issue of that particular book. Lastly, I know that the only reason they are sending them back to me is because I have a valid complaint and you, the Revdex.com, is looking into the matter. Thank you for your rapid reply. And please continue to investigate this company because I know I'm not the only student that they have scammed.
Thank you very much,
[redacted]

Hello, my name is [redacted], the company called me yesterday and was able to resolve my issue. They decided to put the money in my PayPal account today at 7 am. Thank you.

ID# [redacted]

No stars for this company. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM. This company tricks you by offering high payouts. I sent three books for 51.57. They claim that my books were damaged but never sent an email. There was nothing wrong with the books when I sent them. Conveniently they trashed my books and I can't get them back. They have changed the date on my invoice of when they were received. I can't access the invoice. It says payment process pending. STAY away. Check how many negative comments are on other review sites and the Revdex.com wish I would have.

I recently was quoted $100 for 7 textbooks. I agreed to the terms and sent all 7 books. Two were rejected, bringing my offer down to $42. There are two problems I have with this situation. 1.) One of the books rejected was conveniently the highest quoted of all seven at $36. The book, Environmental Health and Safety Audits, was barely used and easily in the most pristine condition of any of the books I sent. They listed "extreme cover wear" as rationale for the price reduction ($0) which is absurd. The hardback cover and spine were in excellent condition with no wear to speak of. 2.) I opted to have my book returned to attempt to get a fair price else where. However, during the billing process I kept receiving erroneous error messages stating that my billing address did not match the card number provided. I tried two different cards, and retyped the address to no avail. This is the same address I use for EVERY transaction I complete online using my card. I have reached out to customer service via email, but judging by dozens of other reviews I have viewed, I don't hold out much hope this will end well. So the highest value book in my collection was deemed to be worthless and inexplicable error messages are preventing me from getting it back. I dropped the ball not reading reviews first. I just want my book back or the money I was quoted for it. Probably will receive neither.

I will not give them any stars. I sent them 3 books that have never been used or open fir that fact they told me I get used price for one book and nothing fir the others they claimed they had water damage , well that's impossible. I asked to have the others returned and paid 8$ to get them back, they told me I responded too late but I responded the day they emailed me, this company appears to be a scam I'll never use them again . Beware it's a catch.

Scammers!!! Do not sell your books to them!!

"I really wish I had read the reviews first! I was quoted for $90.95. After not hearing from them, I sent them an email inquiring about my payment, since I received confirmation from USPS that they received my box. This is the email they sent me as reason for no payment:

Thank you for your inquiry. We received your box, but there are no books in it. We received a hat, a pair of shorts and three neck ties. The box was taped well and doesn't look like it's been tampered with at all. I don't know if your labels got mixed up with something else you were mailing but we can't pay for books that we don't received.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thank you

Customer Service
www.textbookrecycling.com

Now, y'all know this sounds like a lie!! A freaking hat, shorts and some neck ties! Really!! "

BEWARE! This company received my book back and offered ZERO dollars because of supposed water damage. I had them return it to me and there was NO WATER DAMAGE. I then sold it to one of their competitors who paid the full offer price. After reading other reviews I see that there is a pattern of refusal because of supposed water damage. I wonder if this is a tactic used to get the books for free and then resell them for a huge profit. DON'T SELL OR BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Review: I was quoted one price, which according to THEIR policy, I should've been given it, but instead, they said the code for the book wasn't the same, which it was, and paid me way less than quoted. When I called to settle it, I wad hung up on after being told I had entered two books and only sent one. Problem being, I have a printed email of the price quote, and my phone records calls so I have proof of everything. Scam company with rude employees.Desired Settlement: Train your employees to not be so rude and give legitimate quotes.

Response:

We regret that our customer, the complainant, is unhappy with her order. The central issue is there was not an exact match of the ISBN she used in her online price quote and the ISBN of the book we actually received. Her online quote of $38.09 for ISBN [redacted] is for the following item: Introductory

Chemistry, Books a la Carte Edition & Modified MasteringChemistry

with Pearson eText -- ValuePack Access Card -- for Introductory

Chemistry Package

by Tro, Nivaldo J.

Prentice Hall. What we received is ISBN [redacted] for the following: Introductory Chemistry, Books a la Carte Edition (5th Edition)

by Tro, Nivaldo J.

Prentice Hall with a value of $14.21.As we state on our website, quoted prices are honored when an exact match exists between the book quoted and the book received. We also state that when the book received is not an exact match, it will be searched in our database, and if we are purchasing it, we pay the current price for it. This explains why two books appear in the customer's order, as we added the book we received so we could pay her for it. Perhaps our customer thought we said that she had sent two books (which we knew she hadn't), when we were in fact saying that there were two books in her order because we added the book we received. Her complaint states that the code for the book was the same, which we do not entirely understand. If by "the code"she means that the ISBNs are the same, that is not the case. Though the ISBNs are for very similar books, they are not a match. If the customer means that "the code" is the access code that is part of the text/access code package she was quoted a price for, that is incorrect in that there was no access code with the book she sent to us.Our notes indicate that our customer service representative did speak with the complainant about this order and the complainant hung up on our representative. We have emailed the customer about this order in the hope that we could speak about the issue and, if possible, find common ground. We also left a voice mail with the same hope.We regret the misunderstanding about this order and welcome the opportunity to provide any additional information that may be helpful.Thank you.

Review: This is for buyback order #[redacted]. I sent in two boxes of books for buyback and only received payment for one box. The website reflects that I've been paid in full however, my paypal account does not reflect payment for the second box of books. They have not responded to my emails for several days now.Desired Settlement: I'd like payment for the rest of my books or have them returned to me.

Business

Response:

Greetings,

Review: Honestly I don't know how this "business" is still running. I can see from everyone else's complaints that I am not alone. I quote "business" because it's evident that this is some girl running a "company" out of house. I can't even believe some of her "customer service" responses to me such as "yep". This person literally try's to steal people's books. I strongly advise people to not sell to her. Upon receiving my books I was told one of my books was water damaged and had no value. Who the hell are you to decide what is valuable to me? She didn't even want to send my books back and told me she didn't have to and was only sending them back as a courtesy!! (After I paid shipping of course). THIS IS NO COURTESY THIS IS MY PROPERTY, this woman is a thief!! I see many others with the same complaint. Once I received my book, there was clearly no water damage this woman is just psychotic. Then she had the mordacity to DAMAGE the binding to one of my books before sending it back. That's what my real complaint is. She completely destroyed any value this book would have had left. I want reimbursement for the damages and the cost I paid for shipping. I know this nut isn't going to refund me but at least I can warn others.Desired Settlement: Refund for damages and shipping

Hello,I regret that your buyback order did not go as smoothly as

we both would have liked. Please be assured that we would gladly have

purchased your book if it there was no water damage. However, as we cannot

buy books with any water damage of any kind, we could not buy the book (please see the site's Terms and Conditions where this is stated). As for the spine damage, we did not and never have damaged books before returning them.If I understand your desired settlement, you wish to be paid $35.90 for the total of the shipping charges and the purchase price. Is that correct? We can issue payment if you confirm a PayPal address to which the funds will be sent, or the physical address to which a check can be mailed.Thank you.textbookrecycling.com

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. It's just unfortunate that I had to open a case on here for a response as I received no response and only rude remarks via email. Thank you

Regards,

They must think people are stupid to believe that packages are frequently delivered to them by the USPS with contents different than what the sender placed in the box. If they had lost my books, they would have delivered nothing. If someone was to steal the contents of the package, they wouldn't bother to create a new one or place new contents inside. I was told, however, that this happens all the time- right after first being told that because they are a small business it is unlikely they misplaced my books, and then being told that they process thousands of transactions and see this happen all the time. Which is it? Are you so big and experienced that you know what happened, or are you so small and quaint that that it would be impossible to lose a person's order?
There are many other book buyback businesses. DO NOT USE THIS ONE.

Review: Sold this company some books through their textbook buyback program. After they received them I haven't had any communication from them, they aren't answering their companies phone, and I haven't been paid for thmDesired Settlement: Please pay me for the books

Business

Response:

We spoke with the complainant on Saturday, 2.13.2016 and made arrangements to return un-purchased books and issue payment for purchased books. A tracking/insurance number for the return shipment will be emailed to the complainant, [redacted], tomorrow when the books ship. Please let us know if we can provide any additional information.

Review: I placed two textbook buyback orders and sent in the books to Textbookrecycling. Upon receiving them they immediately offered me significantly less than the initial quote. I declined their new offers and requested that they return the books to me. They told me I would have to pay $30-35/package in order to have the books returned to me. I offered to pay return shipping myself but they continue to hold my books hostage unless I paid them their exorbitant fees. Finally they said they would "dispose of the books" unless I paid the fee within 24 hours, which I was forced to do. I am sure when they said "dispose of" they meant take my books without paying a reasonable price for them and sell them to someone else at market price. It's absurd to hold books ransom like that.Desired Settlement: I want a refund for the shipping charges. You cannot treat customers like this.

Business

Response:

We regret that our customer’s buyback order has not been a

smoother and more satisfying experience. From our perspective, the issue is

quite straightforward. As we state in our website’s Buyback Terms and

Conditions, buybacks must be tendered to our carrier, FedEx, within 3 calendar

days of the buyback being created. The complainant created his order on

10/31/2015 and did not tender the parcel to FedEx until 11/16/2015, well after

his price quote guarantee had expired. As we state in our Buyback Terms and

Conditions, buybacks received after the price guarantee has expired have the

books repriced to the current website prices at the time of arrival. These

prices are oftentimes lower, and can even be $0, as they are based on current

inventory, market conditions, and other dynamic factors. As a repeat customer,

the complainant is familiar with our 3 day ship-by window and would most likely have known

that his price quote guarantee had expired even before he shipped the books.

Per our contacts with the complainant, we explained why we

were paying the lower amount for his buyback.

We state in our Buyback Terms and Conditions that we do not return books

under any circumstances, but as a courtesy, we offered to waive that stated no-returns

policy and return the complainant’s books. However, we said that in order to do

so, we would require him to help cover the shipping and handling costs

associated with returning his books. Since we pay for incoming shipping and

would have the added expense of return shipping costs, we ask for funds to help

defray both incoming and return charges for our courtesy returns. Our customer

objected to that charge, finding it excessive, so we indicated we would either

return the books once the requested funds were paid or dispose of the books if

he chose not to help defray our shipping and handling costs. We regret that the

complainant feels that we acted wrongly or were holding him or his books “hostage" while we awaited payment.

Please let us know if there is any additional information we can provide, or if

we can in any way facilitate this process. At this time, we will not refund the

shipping charges per the complainant’s request.

Thank you.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. While I disagree with your policies, the real issue here is that you required me to pay an exorbitant shipping charge to get my books back and stated that you would "dispose of them" if it was not paid. If that's not being held hostage I don't know what is.

Review: Recently I sold a book to this company. They provided me a shipping label as well as packaging instructions. Within the week of receiving these items, I delivered the package (packaged as instructed) to my local USPS location. A few weeks passed and on 01/05 I received an email from the company that they were not able to purchase my book due to water damage. When this book was shipped, it was in great used condition with ZERO water damage. I attempted to contact the company by phone and email on 01/05, no response. I called the company on 01/06, unable to reach anyone on the phone. I also sent an email that same day. Finally on 01/07 I finally got in contact with [redacted] who stated that IF the package itself showed signs of water damage they would have taken a picture. She did offer to email me pictures of "my" book. The images did show water damage however there were no images of the package itself with any sort of damage. She explained in the email that they would send the book back to me, but only if I sent them $8 and some change for shipping within 7 days. I am sorry, I feel like they should honor their purchase agreement. I used this book daily, there is NO way there was any type of water damage.Desired Settlement: I feel that they should honor their purchase agreement. I mailed the package using their selected company, I packaged the product according to their directions and I am 100% confident this water damage either happened at their facility, on the way to their facility or this is not my book they are sending me images of.

Greetings,

Review: I purchased 3 books from [redacted] on 8/15/2014. [redacted] KROENKE / DATABASE PROCESSING, [redacted] SATZINGER / SYSTEMS ANALYSIS & Design and a used Bunin / New Perspectives On Ms Project 2010: Intro BUNIN, CENGAGE LEARNING, PAPERBACK, [redacted]. I used them for one semester and they were always at my desk at work and never had writing or water damage. I had a hard time finding a box to fit all THREE books and finally found one so I packaged them ALL in the box and stuffed paper around them per the packing suggestions from the site, I then proceeded to use more than needed boxing tape and tape around the box in both directions so there was no way the box could be opened. The MS Project 2010 book was on the bottom of the other two larger books. When Textbook Recycling received my package they immediately said that the MS Project book was missing and that they had issued a payment for one of my other two books (Systems Analysis and Design) and that the Database Processing book was being looked at because they believe it was a counterfeit book. I just received the check for the one book which I am not going to cash. I asked for ALL of my books back and they again said they couldn't ship the MS Project book because they didn't get it and that the Systems Analysis and Design book had already been sold. I haven't heard back again about the third book (Database Processing). They are buying them for way cheaper than what they are actually worth since they were like new and only used one semester. I have read several other reviews now that say they "didn't receive" other people's books or that the books were counterfeit or they didn't pay the quoted price. Sounds like they are getting over on people and this is not right at all.Desired Settlement: I either want ALL THREE of my books back that I sent them or I want the full quoted price for ALL THREE of my books.

Response:

Greetings,

I would not recommend Textbook Recycling; please read my experience with them below.
On 8/5/2015 I went onto the Textbook Recycling Website www.textbookrecycling.com to get a price quote on a book I wanted to sale. The Book was Our Digital World: Introduction to Computing Textbook ISBN# 978**SSN**. I was given a buyback quote of $70.31. I agreed this was a fair price they were offering. I purchased the book brand new for $170.00 and I had only used it for 3 months so the book even thou is considered used was in excellent condition. I mailed the book to Textbook Recycling with postage paid by them. On 8/20/2015 @ 9:37am I received an email from them advising my book had been received in and that my payment of $6.94 would be issued within 1 business day and if I had any questions to call: 1.866.483.9826. So I did call on 8/21/15 and left a very detailed voicemail advising this was not the quoted price I was given and that I have the invoice to prove the buyback quote. I not only left a phone voicemail I sent an email to the customer service department on the same day. I received a return voice mail from Holly in customer service 1.208.835.5722 our emails went back and forth about four times. I’m stating the fact that they either pay the $70.31 as quoted or mail me back my book. Finally the emails stopped and I received a voicemail from Donald the Supervisor of Holly stating he wanted to clarify my misunderstanding of the book. I returned his call on 8/25/2015 I advised him that I was not confused and that however the misquote occurred at this point was really irrelevant that he needed to make it right by either paying me the correct amount or simply mailing me back my book. He then processed to say that as a rule their policy is to never mail back books to individuals who changed their mind about saling and that I would have to pay around $11.00 postage if I wanted my book back. I told him that I would be filing a complaint with the Revdex.com because this is wrong on many levels what they are doing to me. He simply said that was fine to do what I felt I needed to do and that if I wanted the book I would have to pay the postage and that he would hold my book on his desk for 10 days waiting and at that point it is considered theirs to resale. So basically they would be selling stolen property because they have not paid me for the book. I ask them in the first email I sent not to mail me the check for $6.94 and if they did to put a stop payment on the check that I was not going to keep it or cash it. He stated the check was mailed to me on 8/20/2015. I told him that I wouldn’t even open the envelope that I would mail it back to them he agreed to this part but still insisted that I would have to pay the $11.00 Postage return fee.
I have filed a complaint with the Revdex.com-awaiting outcome.
This is why I would not recommend Textbook Recycling.

Response:

During our email communication with our customer, twice we provided a pdf. file of his receipt showing the $114.92 amount he was quoted online for his books on 9/19/2015. This is the exact amount that he was paid for his books once they arrived and were processed. We cannot say with 100% certainty why the $150. 26 amount appears on the email we sent him, though we suspect that it may be a corrupted file error. As we communicated previously, since we paid the full amount that the customer was initially quoted online for his books, we do not feel responsible to pay a spurious amount that appears in the auto-email that was sent. Using the logic in his complaint, if he was fully paid the $114.92 amount he was quoted but an erroneous amount of $11, 492.00 appeared on his auto-reply email as the amount payable, he would expect us to pay the difference. He has considered our behavior as breaching a deal, while we consider that we have fully paid our customer the amount he was quoted online. Please let me know if I can provide any additional assistance or information.Thank you.[redacted] textbookrecycling.com

What a rip off. Quoted me almost $80 and then gave me $1.50. Books were in good condition. I will never use their services again and I will recommend that others do not either.
