Review: After obtaining a quote for my used books, I packaged them up and sent them along with an order label as instructed. When my package arrived, the business told me that different books were in the package other than the ones I was quoted for, and that I would receive money for these three books. The three books they named are books I have never heard of and have never owned, and did not send to them for payment. When I told them that mistakes happen and I wasn't upset but that they clearly credited me for books I did not send, they told me that the post office must have lost my books, and yet delivered a package to them with my order label on it and different contents inside. Packages might be lost or stolen, but the post office did not deliver them a package with my name and address and order number on it with different contents. I pointed out that this sounded absurd to me, and that it was more likely that I was receiving credit for someone else's books while they were receiving credit for mine, but I was again told that this sort of thing happens all the time- apparently, I am supposed to believe that the USPS frequently loses packages and then creates replacement packages with different contents to deliver. There is no nice way for me to say it- this is either a lie, or the ravings of an it.Desired Settlement: I want them to pay me for the books I sent into them and not for someone else's books. Barring that, I want my books returned to me.

We regret that our customer experienced problems with his buyback order. As we shared with him in several emails, we understand both his frustration with this transaction as well as his concern that we are behaving badly. The US Postal Service mishandled his parcel, and we communicated this to him when we processed the books that we received. None of the books that he shipped to us were in the box that we received from him, and we presume that the books were lost by the Postal Service. Since the parcel was not insured, we suggested that he complete and submit a Parcel Search Request form available at any post office to initiate a search for his books at the Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta. Instead of his books, what we received in his sealed parcel with his shipping label were 12 random books. As we said in a previous email, we had to presume that the parcel was in some way compromised in a USPS facility so that his books were lost and the box was resealed after someone's books were put into the box. On the face of it, this scenario seems unlikely and understandably created suspicions for our customer. We can only speculate about what happened while the parcel was in transit , but we are certain of this: he shipped books that we never received; that we received books in a sealed box with his mailing label attached that are not his books; and that we paid him $32.13 on June 15th for the books that we received. We neither have his books nor have any reasonable expectation to receive them, though we of course will process them in the unlikely event they arrive here. Given the current situation, we cannot honor his request for us to return his books to him. Additionally, we cannot pay for books that we do not receive. This is stated within our website's Buyback Terms and Conditions, so our actions are consistent with our stated and agreed-upon policies. We empathize with our customer, and we completely understand his suspicions about this apparent "switcheroo." While occurrences are rare, we have seen this scenario with the Postal Service several times over the years, receiving not just random books but also auto parts, towels, bottles of hot sauce, etc. in sealed boxes. Please let us know if there is any additional information we can provide, or if we can in any way facilitate the process.Thank you.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I do not want and do not deserve credit for the books they say they received in my package. They do not belong to me, were not mine to sell, and I will not accept money I am not entitled to as a matter of principle. I did communicate this to them, but apparently their reading comprehension is just as poor as their business practices in general. I will take my books back, or the money I was owed for selling them, or nothing at all, thank you very much.

Review: I was offered a quote price for a book for $39.47 as long as the book was received within 14 days, along with choosing [redacted] as my service as my only choice. It says that the book would ship within 4-10 days on your website. However it took the book longer than 10 days for it to sell making the book arrive to you guys in more than 14 days than the requirement. I had sent the book in time for you guys to receive it within that time frame as advertised.Desired Settlement: Instead of getting the current quote price I want the quote price I was told I would receive in a check since I met all the standards.

Greetings,

I submitted my book online to textbookrecycling.com and mailed it out the very next day. It took over a week for them to receive the book via fedex (which I have no control over) and are now only offering me $18 for my textbook which was supposed to be $56.00 because they are saying I did not mail it out in time when in fact I still had 2 remaining days to mail it. This company is very sneaky and would like what I am owed.

Review: I agreed to send a textbook to a company for an estimated 40+ dollars. I sent them a brand new textbook that has never even been opened and was in pristine condition. They just emailed me and let me know that I would actually only receive 5 dollars for my textbook and if I had a problem with that then they would only send my textbook back to me if I paid them to but this information was NEVER disclosed to me prior to sending my textbook or the book would have never been sent.Desired Settlement: I want my textbook sent back to me at no additional charge to myself.

As we indicated to the complainant previously in email, the Terms and Conditions to which she agreed when she created her order stipulate that quoted prices are valid only if the order is shipped within 3 days from the date the quote is made. Her order was not shipped until 7 days after her quote date, and as stipulated in the the Terms and Conditions, her price quote guarantee had expired and the book was repriced at the current price when the book arrived. This issue has nothing to do with the quality or condition of the book; rather, it is a result of a book not being shipped within the required time frame. As a courtesy, we will return the book at our expense. It will ship in today's mail and a tracking number will be emailed to the complainant that time.

Review: I sent a book with a specific isbn and a quote of 30.98 to be received, I have the original email with this on it. When the company processed my return they added a book to my account(one I did not have or use for the class) and paid me 6.98. I went back and forth and they declined to see the wrong they did or return my book to me.Desired Settlement: I want the money that was owed to me for the book I sent, which is the one quoted for 30.98.

Hello, We regret that our customer’s buyback order has not been a

smoother and more satisfying experience. As we shared with her in several

emails, we understand both her frustration with this transaction as well as her

concern that we did not fully understand the nature of the problem. We acknowledge

that here was some miscommunication regarding the number of books in her order,

which contributed to her frustration with us. This was a result of the mis-delivery

by the Postal Service. While our customer knew she shipped only one book, we

showed two books in her order because we needed to add the book we received in

lieu of the book she sent. We received one book, she sent a different book than

the one we received, so we referenced the two books in her order several times

in our emails to her.

The US Postal Service mishandled her parcel, and we

communicated this to her when we processed the book that we received. The book

that she shipped to us was not in the parcel that we received from her, and we

presume that the book was lost by the Postal Service. Instead of her book, what

we received in her parcel with her shipping label was a book that she did not

ship to us. As we said in a previous email, we had to presume that the parcel

was in some way compromised in a USPS facility so that her book was lost and

the package was resealed after someone's book was put into the box. On the face

of it, this scenario seems unlikely and understandably created suspicions for

our customer. We can only speculate about what happened while the parcel was in

transit, but we are certain of this: she shipped Essentials of Sociology a

book that we never received; that we received A Child’s World, a book in

a sealed package with her mailing label attached that is not her book; and that

we paid her $6.98 on June 23rd for the book that we received.

We neither have her book nor have any reasonable expectation to receive them,

though we of course will process it in the unlikely event they arrive here.

Given the current situation, we cannot honor her request for us to return her

book. Additionally, we cannot pay for books that we do not receive. This is

stated within our website's Buyback Terms and Conditions, so our actions are

consistent with our stated policies.

We empathize with our customer, and we completely understand her concerns that

we are conducting ourselves unethically. While occurrences are rare, we have seen this

scenario with the Postal Service several times over the years. Please let us

know if there is any additional information we can provide, or if we can in any

way facilitate the process.

Thank you. [redacted]Customer ServiceTextbook Recycling Co.

They are blaming a postal service instead of themselves, they are still not hearing me. I did not send a different book to them, I sent the book I was quoted for, I have no need to go around in circles with this company. How do I make sure that others are warned about this fraud company. [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. Greetings,

Review: Textbook Recycling charged for the complete price of a rented book even though an extension was granted through their website. The book was sent to Textbook Recycling shortly after and no refund was given. The customer service lied to me several times stating that they were going to refund the money. After several calls, they will no longer answer my call. Technically, I own the book that they have in their possession. . I would prefer to have the refund but it's just not right that they can keep my money and the book. College is expensive enough without having issues like this. Please help me and anyone else that may have the same issue in the future.

Regards,

John M[redacted]Desired Settlement: I want this business to understand that customer service at it's core demands fair trade. I would also like my refund.

Response:

John,I am very sorry that your refund was not issued in a timely manner, and the inconvenience of having to contact us multiple times to no good effect. There were irregularities in our system and how your rental was processed, and we take full responsibility for both the error and the delay. I just initiated full refunds of both your rental extension fees as well as the non-returned rental charge. Typically, refunded charges are processed within 1-3 business days, so please let us know if you do not see the funds back on your credit card by October 9th at the latest.Again, I am sorry that we mishandled your order.Thank you.DonaldCustomer Servicetextbookrecycling.com

Review: The company buys and sells textbooks. The book that will be referenced is entitled "Pre-Calculus: Mathematics for Calculus 6th Edition" ISBN - [redacted]

I recieved a price quote of $90.52 on 1/27/15 with a guarantee on that price for 14 days after the date of the estimate. I needed to mail the book to them within the 14 days and I failed to do so. Fully aware of this, I mailed the book and awaited a check for some amount of money.

The check I received was written on 2/24/2015 for a total of $56.17. This is significantly less than the price quote I received but I anticipated this since I mailed it after the price quote had expired.

To verify, when I received the check I entered the same ISBN and received another price quote on the same book. On this occasion, the company was still offering over $90 for the book that they had just paid me approximately $56 for.

I called the company on 3/9/15 to explain my finding and how I felt that I had been scammed and the representative that I spoke with refused to acknowledge any fault and instead attempted to argue that I could have gotten more money for my book had the price went up instead of down.

This lacks relevancy because the issue at hand is that, based on the information the company provides to it's potential customers, the quote price had indeed stayed within a few dollars of my original quote. At the time that I was speaking with the representative, the quote they were offering had actually increased to over $97. Regardless of whether or not my original quote had expired, the company was still offering new quotes at even more than I was offered to begin with and significantly more than they sent me.

I did a thorough review of their terms and conditions. They will not return valueless books, however, my book was not valueless as indicated by the check they sent and their price quotes. I have requested a transaction reversal from the company but they refuse and say they no longer have my book. In response to my repeated inquiry, they have manipulated the current price of the textbook to reflect positively on their company and make it appear as if they have actually paid me properly.Desired Settlement: I would like my book returned to me at no cost because I have not been paid a proper amount and they have obtained it through deception.

Otherwise, I will accept payment amounting to original price quote because it is the lowest valid offer they gave me and their current prices have been manipulated since my inquiries.

I have been helping students sell used textbooks to textbook buyback sites for years, and have never had an issue. The one time I used textbookrecycling.com, they said that my books had "water damage" and that they wouldn't pay me! I know for a fact that this is not true. I have guidelines for agreeing to sell back books, inspect the books myself before shipping them, and I shipped out 4 boxes of books to 4 different buyback services at this time and all the other books were received just fine- what are the chances that ONLY the books sent to textbookrecycling were damaged? It seems like they made up reasons not to pay up. Do not sell your books here!

I sent one book with the correct ISBN. They said it was not. I was pretty sure it was and so asked them to tell me the ISBN of the book that I had sent. They never did. I asked them therefore to send it back to me. They never did.

I sent them two books. They claimed that they were of a different ISBN. I received them back. They were exactly the ISBN asked for. They charged me $10 for a $4 media mail send back.

If you are a bookseller, please do not use this company.

I don't know why textbookrecycling.com receive my books and was telling me they are not going to pay for my books,I ask why and the customer services was very rude and told me there is nothing to do about it..After this I contact a reformer and was told such case is rampant with textbookrecycling.com for some months back know, please I want a proper investigation coz this company seems to me as fraudulent and bad customer relation..
