We apologize for the inconvenience.

We purchased two sets of shutters and paid through PayPal on June 5th. We were told they would be done in 4 to 6 weeks. Because they were going to be used outdoors, we were told they would be weather proofed. We waited almost seven weeks before we contacted him to ask when we would be given a delivery tracking number. He told us it would be another 3 weeks. I contacted him again almost 4 weeks later and he said it would be another week. When that week was up and I had not heard from him or received my order, I googled Fred H[redacted] and the Birdhouse Barn and saw lots of negative stuff about his service/products. I was able to get his phone number off the Revdex.com website where previously he would only allow me to communicate by email. I called him and the women who answered was his mother. I told her I was very close to filing a complaint with the Revdex.com. She said she would have him call when he got home. Within a day I got an email picture of the shutters and he called me to tell me they were going to be shipped within a few days. He also said he would give me a free sign for my trouble. They arrived on September 18th! The shutters were sticking together (probably from paint that had not completely dried). We cannot tell you how disappointed we were in these shutters that we waited 3 1/2 months for. We paid just under $400 for them ($65 of that was for shipping---we were told picking them up personally was not an option). We did not get what we paid for. He did nothing special to them to weather proof them that we can see. Honestly they are boards nailed together with paint slapped on them. We feel so taken advantage of and ripped off. I would not have paid more than $50 for these at a craft show. The sign he sent us looks like it came from the dollar store. Hopefully this review will help someone else not make the same mistake.

I have responded on the reason that a picture has not been provided several times. The customer should have read our "ordering information" page before placing the order.  When an order is placed you automatically agree to our terms and ordering information. This page states the fact that an order can take up to 16 weeks and also that we cannot guarantee any dates.
 
I have been trying to estimate completion throughout the entire process which is very time consuming and customized. However I cannot 100% guarantee those dates until the final product is entirely completed.
 
Tracking information and a photo will be sent before January 25th. I assure the customer will be pleased with the quality and I apologize for the wait once again!

After all of this waiting, Fred emailed me on 1/14/15 stating that he liked MY birdhouse so much that he was going to keep it.  I immediately went online and posted negative reviews on several consumer websites and filed a claim with the WV Attorney General's Office.  He was very upset and started begging me to take them down.  He even offered me the birdhouse and other products free of charge.  Once again, I attempted to work with him.  However, after more broken promises and empty lies, I am DONE.  I will continue pursuing complaints against him so that no one else has to be conned by this kid like I was.

[redacted] offers 180 days to file a complaint for an item not received case. Which we will honor 100% if the item is never received although that has never happened.
This item along with every item ever ordered from The Birdhouse Barn will be received after being fully completed and...

shipped by us.  On June 27th [redacted] stated that "After July the 18th is fine!  Thank you." Suddenly we are 4 days after the 18th and it is no longer fine with this customer. The item will be completed and shipped as soon as it is ready and I as I previously mentioned to the customer:  A progress image will be sent on Friday.

I do not accept the response made by the business to resolve this complaint.  I have copied and pasted all correspondence with the Bird House Barn below.  To understand the conversation you must start at the bottom and scroll upward.  I tried to do this as an attachment, but I am not a computer wizard.Our conversation began on June 8,2015 when I requested a quote on a custom birdhouse replica of my home.  I was told he could meet my Anniversary date of July 14th.  I was also told I would receive progress photos.  As we got closer to the date I checked in and also requested that the birdhouse be shipped to arrive before the 8th or after the 18th when we returned from vacation.  Since it was not going to be ready I accepted after the 18th.  Upon return from vacation, Fred did not return my first attempt at contacting him so I started to worry and learned of numerous other Revdex.com complaints, bad reviews, and even a filing with the Attorney General of West Virginia.All of which sound identical to my situation.If he is a legitimate business and not a scam, I have a solution.He can refund my $595.00 in full, he can finish the birdhouse and ship it to me C.O.D. and I will be happy to pay for it at that time, but this appears to be a scam and he knows how to work the system to delay until the consumer runs out of options.If Fred H[redacted] and The Bird House Barn want to resolve this complaint I have provided an acceptable solution above.  He has stalled and never provided a PHOTO of his progress as promised siting that he is too busy.  It only takes about a minute to snap a photo and email it.  If he did, this complaint would never have taken place.  It is my belief that the birdhouse is not being made and that this entire operation is a scam.  At this time, I have filed a dispute with [redacted] for a refund and will also be perusing a complaint with the Attorney General of West Virginia as others have done.  If Fred H[redacted] is a legitimate business man he would do everything in his power to satisfy his customers and he does not.  He could have taken a picture and he could still rectify this by refunding my money until the birdhouse is complete.Sincerely,[redacted]Correspondence Below.  Start at bottom and scroll up.Hello [redacted],

Regardless of whether or not you proceed with [redacted] and the Revdex.com I am making a custom product for you. Our website specifically states all custom orders are nonrefundable because we cannot get back the hours we spent making the item. 
Just give me a little more time and I am sure you will be very pleased with the finished birdhouse. Fred, you never said anything about a delay.  For this reason, I am requesting a refund.  We agreed on a timeframe or I never would have ordered.  You said you would send photos as soon as the birdhouse was "underway".  I have never received photos. 
I am proceeding with my complaint and refund thru [redacted].  I will not accept the delay.

Please don't be disgusted. I assure you we have been working on your birdhouse. Some of the complaints are real but most of them are just minor complaints about the speed of our production. Back a few years ago I switched from 4-6 week wait time to 16
weeks and some of our customers just don't see that when ordering or they don't understand how long a custom item takes so they begin a complaint and even when resolved the information is still posted with the Revdex.com. That is the case with most of those complaints.
The yelp complaints are 100% false.
I will get a photo to you as soon as possible. We are about halfway completed the birdhouse and the rest will be finished within a week or two.

reviews like this began surfacing on many complaint websites in 2014 and earlier this year around the same time a new business similar to ours opened for business. All of the postings came from the same IP address which proofs the
reviews are false.

Well, our 25th Wedding Anniversary is July 14th, but we will be out of town until July 18th.
I thought since we have a silver roof and love our new house this might be a great gift for my Husband.  I would also like to know how big it would be?  Our house is not big at all so I would not want it to be huge in comparison.

The customer received the product. The item is of great quality, We check everything before it leaves workshop. If she is not happy with the order I am sorry but we handcraft everything to order and we only refund items if they are lost or damaged.

Both items should be delivered in 3-4 days. The tracking numbers will be updated on 7/20 when the packages are picked up.

I firmly believe that I would have NEVER received my products if I wouldn't have filed a formal complaint.

I am rejecting this response because:
In his response, Fred H[redacted] from the Birdhouse Barn States that by July 10th he would have tracking numbers for me on my two birdhouses. It is now July 15th and I have nothing. I have emailed him with a reminder of his promise, no response from him. Also, in an earlier private email to me, he promised tracking numbers or a reimbursement check by Friday July 10th. I would be satisfied with either,,,I am not satisfied with NOTHING And no communication.

Review: I purchased a lighted farmhouse/saltbox from online company the Birdhouse Barn on 1/8/2014. According to the website, the order would take "5-7 days to package an item but since the products are handmade, it can take up to 2-3 weeks before the package is shipped." The item cost $38.99 with an additional cost of $11.05 for s/h. The order processed via paypal by the next day as shown on my [redacted] billing statement.

On 3/13/14, approximately 9 weeks after I purchased the item, I still hadn't received the package. I sent an email to the vendor's contact, [redacted], inquiring my purchase to make sure that it had gone through. [redacted] responded a week later, 3/20/14 and simply stated, "It should be leaving our workshop soon." I was a bit surprised that he didn't offer an apology, but quickly dismissed it.

On 5/01/14, 17 weeks since my purchase date, I received the package. At this point I was happy to have received my order and just assumed that I got the company at a bad time. Unfortunately when I open the box I was immediately disappointed. I have purchased a similar item (lighted saltbox) from a competitive company at a similar price and was very pleased. When searching to buy a 2nd lighted saltbox I came across a handful of companies that appeared to have identical products. I chose to go with the birdhouse barn simply because it offered a wider variety of colors and products. The product that was pictured on the website did not the match the quality of the item of the product pictured on the website. It looked as if it had been haphazardly put together, and certainly didn't appear to be made by a seasoned craftsman. When I compared it with my previously purchased saltbox the differences in quality and workmanship were even more obvious.

On the same day that I purchased the item, 5/01/14, I sent and email to expressing my disappointment. Six days later, 5/7/14, after not receiving a response I sent another email. As of today, 5/10/14, still haven't received a response. I didn't return the item because I didn't want to pay the shipping and also, because I was afraid that I wouldn't be refunded. I will return the product back to The Birdhouse Barn after I am refunded and receive funds to cover the s/h.4Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is to receive a full refund of $50.04 and if I'm required to return the item, additional funds to cover s/h fees. I also want to file this complaint to prevent other customers from having the similar disappointment. As I mentioned earlier, there are several similar companies, but obviously, they are not of equal quality and service.

The customer received the product. The item is of great quality, We check everything before it leaves workshop. If she is not happy with the order I am sorry but we handcraft everything to order and we only refund items if they are lost or damaged.

I really enjoyed my purchase from The Birdhouse Barn. I ordered 2 rooster chalkboards and a saltbox house. Better than anything I've ever purchased at local arts and crafts festivals. He was wonderful to work with as well. Prices were reasonable.

Review: I ordered a custom birdhouse for $395 on 11/21/2013 - nearly 7 months ago. I paid with my [redacted] account credit card via a [redacted] invoice he sent to me. I was told that payment was required in full before production could begin but that a photo would be sent of the product prior to shipment. I have been more than patient with this man and put up with his excuses of his "mother being sick, he was so swamped, it is almost complete....a few more days, etc." This list goes on and on. When I realized I would not have it for xmas, I allowed him to focus on his busy season and not to worry about it. I would give it as a valentine's gift instead. He thanked me for my kindness and assured me it would be ready for Valentine's day. We talked specifically about what I wanted and the details. I got nothing of what I asked for. Well, here we are Memorial Day...and the product is finally here and the quality is not even close to $400! I have printouts of the email exchanges with [redacted] and myself trying to find out the status of my order. I just received the shipment after 7 months production time and it is NOT what was discussed or promised to me. I have emails explaining specific details that he promised he would do for me and be ready for xmas delivery. Today I emailed him with my dissatisfaction of the product and requested AT LEAST a $200 credit due to the product not being what we discussed. He said he will build me another one and put in the details he overlooked the first time. I don't want him to build me another one....I want to ship this back and get my back. I was willing to lose $200 on this purchase because he did, in fact, build a birdhouse (not worth even $200) but he did put some time into it. NOT seven months worth of time or detail. Now, I am not willing to lose anything. I don't want it at all because he is rude and disrespectful and said "you ordered a product, you paid for it, you received it. I'm not refunding anything!" I would rather burn it than put it up and have to view it now and think of this man being so unethical and practice such poor business practices. I am very upset that it cost so much money and took so long to get, and it is not what was promised. I'm extremely disappointed and never filed a complaint before but this man cannot be allowed to do this. I appreciate whatever help you can give. I have all of the email exchanges if that will help.Desired Settlement: I don't want the product at all and I will ship it back if he desires. I was never given the photo of the finished product prior to his shipment as promised. If I had, we could have resolved this. Now...I want nothing to do with him, his birdhouse or his business. We do not refund custom orders for any reason. After realizing this customer was dissatisfied I gave her the option is to make changes of the birdhouse frea of charge to make her happy, However customer turned down this offer. I am no long interesting in doing this now. The was beautiful and it did take a long time complete, We spent a of hours and labor on this project.
