Thrifty Propane, Inc. Reviews (355)

I am rejecting this response because: First of all the our propane tank came from Thrifty because we are a pre-buy customer. Pre-buy meaning that we purchased 3,000 gallons of propane and we were given a free 500 gallon tank from Thrifty. Thrifty Propane delivered the tank, set the tank up with all of the valves and did a pressure test prior to filling up the tank. Thrifty also provides a 10 year warranty on the tank and a one year warranty on the other moving parts. On April 11th, my husband [redacted] did receive pricing from Ryan at Thrifty Propane(extension [redacted]) to replace the regulator on the propane tank that came from Thrifty. The fees quoted were $99 trip and then $79 per hour and one hour was required and the cost of the regulator is $54 and that the pressure test fee would be waived. That's funny that an employee of Thrifty is quoting repair pricing since in the response from the complaint "we are not repair tanks, that is the customers responsibility and they can call any local repair to take a look and do the repairs". On April 12th, my husband sent photos of the front side and under the lid of the propane tank. The pictures were sent to the following email address [redacted]. And my spouse [redacted] confirmed that Ryan had our credit card number on file to start this repair request.I have not received any messages from the customer service or Omni Budsman that I requested yesterday. I can tell you that my husband did receive a condescending voice mail message from Brad @ Thrifty Propane on his cell phone. We did save this message because his message was very unprofessional and I do intend to make sure that someone higher up at Thrifty hears this and fully understands that this company has a very serious customer service problem. So here we are no repairs completed or propane since April 12th and several phone calls to a company that (supposedly) is not in the repair business.

+1

As for this customer, we did deliver the December delivery on time, we were very behind in January, and did not get to Mr [redacted] within our delivery terms.  Please note, and advise the customer, they do own their own tank and can call any local supplier that will deliver to them sooner, they...

are no way obligated to purchase from Thrifty.  They did not have prebuy with us.  Thank you!

On 2/28/17 customer received 89.1 gallons, which was the remaining balance of his pre-purchased gallons.  Consumer is incorrect in stating that we are required to deliver the customer a full fill.  Terms of the pre-purchased agreement is below: As a pre-buy customer, please be aware...

that your purchase of propane fixes the price as of the day of purchase only. In the event of certain circumstances or occurrences, including but without limitation Acts of God, fire, explosion, flood, earthquake, hurricane, strike, war, riot, insurrection, terrorism, sabotage, unplanned outage, breakdown of production or transportation facilities, allocation of product at pipeline or other terminal, or other similar circumstances, Thrifty Propane may delay, or limit the quantity of, propane delivered to your residence. In the event of any disruption, it is understood that Thrifty Propane will make reasonable commercial efforts to deliver the agreed upon quantities to the buyer using whatever sourcing seems most reasonable at the time. Thrifty Propane will make reasonable business to make delivery, but the time of or days after order of delivery is not guaranteed. Thrifty Propane was on allocation at one terminal, and experienced force majeure at another terminal. Thrifty Propane kept the consumer in propane and delivered his final amount of gallons on account.  Please advise the consumer that he owns his propane tank and can purchase propane from any other supplier.  Due to the consumer not agreeing with our program, in the best interest of both the consumer and Thrifty, Thrifty will no longer offer to sell pre-purchased gas to Mr. [redacted].

Hello, customer placed order on 12/29/17 tank was at 30% and was told it was 10-15 business days.  Customer chatted online and was told the same thing, up to 15 business days.  Customer demanded to know the exact date, which we do not provide.  Today is the 8th business day.  We...

are delivering within terms.

I am rejecting this response because: the gauge is not working as confirmed by the last delivery person sent by thrifty. We ordered our last amount of prepaid propane and I have no intention of ordering propane from thrifty propane in the future.

Yes, we responded, this customer also filed a complaint with the Ohio AG Office.  We informed the customer this is an inactive county and we sent her refund check - MAILED CK#[redacted] $1265.06 TO ADDRESS LISTED ON THIS ACCOUNT W/T S

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/22) */
We regret the customer's unsatisfactory experience.

arenas.
On 10-16-15, customer received a delivery of 380.90 gallons.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2016/02/20) */
We have completed the investigation of this case.
We continue to beef up our fleet and customer service, to anticipate a higher volume of customers this Winter. Furthermore, we persist in augmenting our fleet and customer service to...

streamline responses in these arenas.
On 11-11-15 the customer purchased a refurbished tank and 425 gallons of propane.
On 11-23-15 the tank was delivered with 25 gallons of propane in it to the property.
On 12-3-15 the driver moved the tank to location to be set.
On 12-4-15 the tank was set and 300 gallons were delivered.
The customer is still owed 100 gallons of propane. The order has been placed for the delivery of the 100 gallons to the customer.
The complaint on the scratches of the tank:
Cost of the refurbished painted tank was $699. (Cost of a new 500 gallon tank is $1069.)
At the time of the delivery of the 100 gallons, the driver will take photos of the tank and we will evaluate photos.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2016/03/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We have yet to be contacted or speak to a Thrifty representative.
After multiple failed attempts to contact and order propane in January we were forced to buy propane from another source so we could continue work on the house. On 2/23/16 we found an invoice at our house from Thrifty (still no contact from the company) for 68.7 gallons. Thrifty still owes us 31.3 gallons.
Thrifty claims photos were taken of our tank to be evaluated, but we have yet to hear from Thrifty about this issue. Our tank still needs painted. See attached photos.

Final Business Response /* (1000, 18, 2016/03/28) */
The driver had used 41' of cooper at the time of installation. The customer was never charged for the cooper which was $123.00.
The customer is owed 31.3 gallons which equals $29.70.
Thrifty is offering $50.00 for the paint on the tank.
Taking the $123.00 for the cooper and subtracting it from the $79.70, the customer owes Thrifty $43.30.
At this time, Thrifty asks that customer pay the $43.30 owed for the cooper and then this matter will come to a close.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/11/10) */
We regret the customer's unsatisfactory experience.
The customer ordered online on 9-21-15 @ 30%.
Thrifty delivered 323.60 gallons to the customer on 10-29-15.
We are beefing up our fleet and reviewing our procedures to streamline...

faster deliveries to anticipate another hard winter.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/11/11) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
We finally got our tank filled

Yes, customer placed the order on 1/4/18 and called many times and left message, all of which we did get.  We cannot accommodate customers calling so frequently to see where there order is.  If the order is placed and you tell us you are at 30% please just sit back and wait, we have...

drivers getting routed and other calls coming in, we will not be able to give you a definite delivery day. These calls are clogging up our lines and manpower.  Customer did get gas 1 day late.  Customer also requested to have another tank filled but we did not have the proper adapter to fill that tank.  Customer also was given 37 gallons over their prebuy, so they were charged the prebuy price of $.969 for those gallons for a total of $45.84.

I am rejecting this response because:
I am not convinced I received a full refund. As previously stated there was no statement accompanying the check showing how the refund was calculated.I need all receipts from all transactions which still have not been sent to me.

We apologize for the delay, a driver will delivery propane today.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I received my final balance of pre-buy gallons so I will no longer do business with thrifty propane. It should be noted that I was never given the respondent's purchase agreement at the time of the pre-buy purchase and I believe it was drafted after the purchase to cover themselves. I will no longer do business with thrifty as I am sure others will follow. thank you for your timer and effort regarding this matter.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/13) */
We regret Mr. [redacted]'s unsatisfactory experience.

On 1-11-15 customer placed an order @ 0% to fill 850.

10th business day, due to customer cancelling the order.

On 3-17-15 customer placed an order @ 20% fill from prebuy, no more than 636 gallons.

On 3-18-15 delivery of 636 gallons was made.

I appreciate your attention to this matter.

Thank you for taking my call today in reference to my complaint: [redacted]. Thrifty did in fact finally fill us, however, their driver left the tank bleeding. When we returned home the day of the fill, we had to call 911 due to the propane leak. We, as well as our neighbors, were evacuated for safety precautions. I left messages for Thrifty as he fire dept stated it was their job to return and inspect the issue. No one returned my call. The fire dept also left messages for Thrifty, but no one responded. For the sake of shutting of the gas leak, the fire dept finally called a more responsive propane company, [redacted], who came out for a few of $275 which we had to pay. The attached is a handwritten invoice from the tech who responded, and we believe Thrifty should pay for this. There is one error on the invoice; we are located in Conowingo, not Port Deposit. Please advise at your convenience, as I have since been unable to reach Thrifty, and they still won’t return my calls.Thank you,[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:Consumer still has not received the refund after a month since the business said they were processing it.  At this point, she will only accept a full refund for the full amount she paid.

Customer first called in on 9/17/17 they requested a refund - at that time they fully agreed to the $99 cancellation fee, refund at wholesale price of $0.5219 x 700 gallons = $365.33 + 2 haz fees $39.88 no tax = $405.21 less the cancel fee $99.00 = $306.21.  Customer then called on 10/23/17 and...

asked for prebuy to be transferred to his new location, he was advised there would be a $59 transfer fee along with a letter for the request to transfer to new address. As of that date we were waiting on the letter to transfer.   On 11/13/17 customer called in inquiring about the same thing and was told we could not transfer the prebuy til we received the letter.  Customer then contacted us via online chat on 11/21/17 chat- informed customer that he needs to send a letter of permission to transfer the pb and a $59.00 payment. He first asked if he could email the letter and pay by credit card? Then he changed his mind and said he just wants it refunded. He doesn't want to give more money.  He also asked about a refund, and he did not agree with the refund total and told our online chat he is contacting the Revdex.com.  I have also attached his prebuy receipt for reference to the refund of prebuy gallons when you cancel a prebuy.  They were contacting the Revdex.com because they did not believe the refund total was correct and wanted the Revdex.com to make sure they did not get ripped off.  As you can see, customer has been in constant contact with our customer service at Thrifty Propane and the last time they ordered propane was 12/8/16 and we delivered on 1/3/17, not 4 months later.  As always we value all our Thrifty customers and thank Mr Brown for his purchase.  Please let us know how he would like to proceed.

Customer has since spoke to a CSR and a refund has been sent for the 175.7 gallons 175.70 PB GALLONS X 1.339 = $235.27 + TAX $16.47 NO HAZ FEE LEFT REFUND TOTAL $251.74  Thank you for your patience.

A refund was done on 4/20/18, we apologize for the delay.

Hello, it is always advised on our prebuy agreement to call and order propane at 40% and allow up to 15 business days for delivery.  Calling at 40% will help ensure you will last up to 15 business days and not run out of propane.  We delivered to this customer on the 11th business day,...

this is with in therms of our agreement.
