[redacted] at Tint World in Cary did it again! Got my calipers on my Challenger painted red, underglow LEDS installed and my headlights tinted. They did a wonderful job! Will be back to get more modifications done and it is always a pleasure to deal with [redacted]!","pos-1

Overall a very positive experience I had at Tint World, the guys there helped me out in a big way after I purchased the wrong light bar for my husbands truck ( it was my fault, I gave Kurt the wrong year) they glady returned the light bar and had my new correct one the next day!! Awesome job and my husband was thrilled.

Review: On 3/**/2015 I brought my car to Tint World to have numerous things done to my vehicle.

1. Windows tinted

2. film paint protection

3. Lights tinted

The total job cost me $2600.00 more than double I found out after the fact from one of their other franchises.

They did a lot of fast talk to sell me their products but did not stick up to their self proclaimed professionalism.

I went to pick up my car and found lots of mistakes in the adhesion of the film on my car. Hand prints under the film, wrinkles in the carbon fiber film, not sticking in several spots...... I brought it to the attention of the owner K. K[redacted]. I was asked to leave the car again after already leaving for over 2 weeks when I was promised to have it back in 3 days.

After traveling back to Tint World to pick up my car for the second time, there was more problems this time, Whoever adhered the film this time not only had hand prints underneath but cut into the actual paint ruining a brand new paint job on my front bumper. I called to speak to K. K[redacted] but he was on vacation and said he would take care of the problem when he came back. When I called the following week to complain to him he said maybe he should just give me my money back and I go elsewhere.

I posted a blog about my experience at Tint World and got a call from K[redacted] stating I would not be receiving a refund because of said blog.

Because of their lack of professionalism, It cost me $5500.00 to have my car totally repainted.

I have pictures of the shoddy work that was done and the body shop where my car was repainted will attest to the paint peeling off the car when removing film because of the paint being cut into. They will also attest to the fact that the film on the lights was falling off. After all these problems I still have no resolution from Tint World.Desired Settlement: I would like to see Mr. K[redacted] stick to his verbal agreement and give me my refund as he promised.

On 3/**/15 customer [redacted] had come to Tint World for some customizations he would like to have done to his vehicle. We tinted his windows, applied PPF film, and tinted tail lights. We did not do a lot of fast talking as customer says. We explained everything to him very clearly. We even gave him a loaner car on us while we performed this work he requested. He was extremely excited when he picked up his car. He had nothing but great things to say. Then a few weeks later he decides to try and extort money from us so he can have his vehicle done for free. He says he just had the whole car repainted for $5500 ? Meanwhile he just had it painted from a body shop before he brought it to me for customizations. If there were any issues I said we would take care of them. Don't know why he needed to paint his whole car from window tint, ppf film on front bumper, vinyl film on rear spoiler. He has no reason to paint his whole car. Again , he wants to extort money. He then became rude & threatening and started cursing. He said he had some money issues and he over spent on his car and now that becomes my problem ? He has threatened, has had defamation of character to my business. He might have a medical issue cause he is un balanced. If there are any issues with car, we will fix. Other than that, please call me with any questions @ ###-###-####- Kurt

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I am not trying to extort money from this business. Kirk said I would get a refund I expect him to stick to his word. I was not ecstatic over the job. I had the car delivered to me in the rain when I got home and wiped it off I found all the problems . Which he now is denying? I brought the car back 3 times and he said he fired the guy who installed all the shabbiness. The car that he gave me, Barely passes inspection. I had to pay meter parking for a month with this 1992 or 94 beat up ford explorer besides filling it with gas. My car also was beat on And had to have several components replaced. If there s an extortionist its kik. His prices are doubled than that of his co- franchises. If you need verification of all the damage I will give you the body shop that fixed it.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Response:

[redacted] is now straight out lying. His car was not beat on that caused him to change multiple parts, in fact it was kept in our garage the whole time. He has a fiat 500 , not a Lamborghini. I assure you his car wasn't beat on. I would like to see proof of my employees beating on his car, let alone a customers car. That is un-acceptable & not tolerated here. His car was fully repainted before he brought it to me from a previous accident. He was already pissed off about how long that took before he decided to leave his car with me for some small work for some window tint ,ppf on front bumper, front trim, and rear wing. The ppf film is a sticker and peels right off with no issues what so ever. I cant see why he would have to spend $5500 to repaint his whole car considering we only worked on the front bumper and rear wing/bumper. $5500 for that ? If so then he was over priced and got taken advantage of by that Auto body shop. I have called around and gotten estimates of $3-3700 to repaint a Fiatt 500. This car is very small. I can also get a written estimate if needed. When and what I offered was rejected by [redacted]. He didnt want his money back, he wanted it redone instead. I fixed the issue of some small vinyl work that was not sticking correctly, and painted it for him instead on the rear defuser. [redacted] also wanted rain gaurds and them painted. I bought these for him and painted them to match his car at no cost to [redacted] for any inconvienance he had. He was very happy with that . A couple days later he calls and says the gaurds are messing up with his windows and he wants all his money back. I knew then right there that there is something wrong with [redacted]. He seems very [redacted]. One minute he is happy as heck, next minute we are the worst. If he paid $5500 to re-paint his WHOLE car , then he was taken advantage of. Thats high priced. Especially since it is a very small car. I have said to [redacted] if there is any issues that need to be taken care of , please come see us to rectify the issue. We are all about customer service. I feel Tint world got the brunt of his anger becuase of where his car was previously before he brought it to us. He complained over and over on how many months it took to get his car back from the Auto body shop. He was very un-happy with the previous body shop. If there is anything further I can do please dont hesitate to call us @ ###-###-####.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I think kurt is missing the point. Regardless what I paid to have my car repainted he promised me my money back and to take my car elsewhere after screwing up the job twice. Do you really think I would bring my car back there after all the problems I had? Kurt is misinformed also. I stated to him when I first brought the car there, I had the front bumper repainted, not the whole vehicle. After pealing off the shabby vinyl job they did on my car, the paint peeled with it which I was told would not happen.I would urge the media to contact me so I can show you all the problems with my car. The body shop where I had the work done will attest to the fact that the paint peeled due to the installation of the vinyl. He keeps claiming defamation. It is my first amendment right kurt, it's called freedom of speech and in my opinion, if anybody got ripped off it's me.Since all the problems were not resolved with tint world after calling the ceo , I had my car redone. This is what my car looks like now. I have approx.15 photos of the work that was done by tint world and all the mistakes that were made. I would really encourage the media to contact me so consumers don't have the same problems in the future.Kurt is not revealing the whole truth to the Revdex.com of the 3 occurrences where I brought my car back to him.

Review: On 02/**/2014, I purchased a Groupon voucher worth $179.00 for Tint World (Medford location). The Groupon was for "remote car starter and $100 toward a tinting package, or an oil change at Tint World" originally valued at $299 (picture included) Upon making an appointment & dropping off my 2009 Nissan Altima, I was asked to choose a tint level from the Ultimate Tint Package, with an in store listing price of $100 over what they had listed the package to be worth on Groupon. After leaving my vehicle for over 5 hours with no contact, I called [redacted] to inquire about my vehicles readiness. I arrived at roughly 3:30 expecting to pay an additional $200 (the elevated cost of the tint). I was informed that my total was $400.00 plus tax. This encompassed an additional fee for the tint (the standard price listed was not for a four door model) and a $175.00 fee for a bypass module. At this point, I questioned the reasoning behind the bypass module. The merchant said that it was listed on the Groupon that vehicles may require a bypass. I was not told that my vehicle would, and was not informed of that up until this point. The merchants response was that "you have a new car, of course you would need a bypass." I am not familiar with the mechanics of my vehicle, and I was under the assumption that A) a newer vehicle would have all the requirements for an automatic start, and B) if a bypass was required I would have been notified prior to installation. I have read the letter written by Tint World in response to my claim. He states that I "happily came in and paid". He neglects to mention that I was so distraught over the variance in prices, that he took an additional $25.00 off my window tint service, and did not charge me sales tax on my credit purchase as a small form of retribution. (You will see on the documents provided that it is a credit purchase with $0 tax). He claimed that he only omits sales tax for cash customers, so it was a "deal" for me. In New York state, it is illegal to not charge sales tax. Upon arriving home, I inspected the tint. The edges of the tint, on all of the windows were jagged and not symmetrical. The tint was rippled, bubbling and not properly adhered. The weatherstripping in my drivers side door was completely removed and haphazardly shoved into the door. I immediately called Tint World. After a lengthy discussion, I asked for the tint and starter to be removed. I was told that this was not possible, due to the cost of labor. As compensation, Tint World offered me the starter bypass at cost and a free car detailing when I brought the car in to have the tint fixed. You'll also note that the Groupon says labor is already included, yet at this point he was offering a refund on the labor. I was issued a $50 cash refund (they refused to reverse the amount onto my credit card), which was picked up that day. The next morning I tried to open my trunk with my key fob and interior switch, to no avail. I immediately had my boyfriend call Tint World. They told him to bring my vehicle down that afternoon so they could "reconnect" my trunk control. The reasoning behind having my boyfriend handle the situation was the way in which Tint World treated me. They made him uncomfortable by calling me "hon" and "honey" in a demeaning nature and he felt they would respect him more. Their attitude had me feeling unease with their service, so I brought my car to my mechanic, who immediately fixed the trunk issue. I will note that the "issue" was a switch inside my glove compartment box. Instead of instructing me to turn the switch to the "on" position, they required me to drop the vehicle back off to them. They thought I was unable to perform such a minute task concerning my vehicle, but am expected to readily know my need for a bypass module? Due to the fact that Tint World put the blame on groupon for the misleading costs, I reached out to their customer service. Their resolution to my claim was a full refund of the money paid to them. I provided the company with pictures showing the variances in each window (unsymmetrical, jagged & misaligned) and the poor quality of service that I was provided is far from "ultimate". Also included in "[redacted]'s" letter regarding my dispute of services is reference to me making claims about being unable to pay my rent & wanting to drive around with "FREE tint". I then provided an estimate from a competitor stating that the tint is "improperly installed" and "irreparable". I provided an estimate from the said competitor for $543 to remove and re-tint my vehicle. I was also informed that the rear defrost and antennae are very likely to be damaged by removing the existing tint. This not an attempt to get anything other than what is rightly owed to me. This is a service that was not provided to the quality of standards they clearly defined, and a switch and bait tactic to avoid their fault in the situation. In order to rectify the situation, the tint must be removed and reapplied. The remote starter (which I opted not to upgrade to their "preferred model" due to an additional cost) selectively works. Might I add that while trying to coerce me into buying the upgraded model, it would have been an ideal time to bring up any necessary bypass needed. I am completely dissatisfied with their customer & quality service, and I am unwilling to negotiate with them due to their unprofessional treatmentDesired Settlement: I would like to see this dispute settled in one of two ways. I would like to have the bypass module refunded and the damaged tint replaced, or I would like a reimbursement for $543, which is the estimate I was given to remove and re-tint the "irreparable" and "improperly installed" tint. If the latter is the option, I will dismiss the refund for the bypass module.

Response:

On 2/**/14 a Ms.[redacted] walked into my store explaining that she purchased a remote start from Groupon only because she wanted her windows tinted. The Groupon was for a remote start with a $100 off towards the ultimate tint package. I thought it was odd for someone to buy a remote start coupon for window tinting. I asked why she did, she explained she thought it was a good deal. When she dropped off her car I explained I would need her car for half the day at least. It doesn't take 5 minutes to tint a 4 door car and install a remote start. It takes on average 4-6 hours. As for the competitor and the pricing to fix it $543? I don't think she needs that. She purchased an Ultimate tint package. She has a lifetime warranty on any defects on the tint. That means she has to pay nothing $0 dollars to have her tint fixed. I already explained that to her. I did not charge tax by accident. She will not return to pay us the tax. There was no deal or saving tax. I have a business that requires that. I looked at her receipt. The bypass doesn't show $175 like she is saying. It says $125 on the bill. As for her calling me and telling me she went into her rent money and would have to return this stuff cause she needs to pay rent. This stuff is NOT returnable. She knows that. I asked her also to come by so I can check out the trunk issue. Never asked her to drop it off for the whole day. We are very polite here at tint world. If someone said "hun" to her it was not out of any disrespect. We strive on customer satisfaction. She knew about the bypass. She is trying to get a free tint job and free remote start. She clearly came in, paid for it, signed her receipt and left. Im sorry if she felt uncomfortable in any way. She does have a lifetime warranty on her tint. So if she needs it fixed, we are here to help.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

In order to validate my complaint, I will be more than happy to provide copies of the estimates and second opinion provided by their Auto-tint competitor, clearly stating the tint was "installed improperly" and "irreparable". I can provide the photographs detailing the jagged and uneven installation of the tint, the broken weather stripping, and the tint that has peeled from the bottom edges of the windows. I can provide a notarized copy of a character witness who was present for the knowledgeable removal of the sales tax, as well their reduction of the bypass cost to $125.00 due to, by their own admittance, not informing me of the cost prior to installation. I can also include 3 other reviews from other patrons who have suffered from similar service with this vendor. I am able to provide the name and phone number for the manager of a third party Auto-tint competitor who has noted the poor service I have received and has other customers from Tint World who have come for repairs. I can include Groupons e-mails refunding me on their behalf, as well as my phone records documenting my attempts to contact tint world. Please provide me a fax, e-mail, or mailing address and I will expedite this material.

Review: I believe the employee's name is [redacted]. I paid him a $75.00 deposit to order LED interior lights for my truck. He was supposed to install them last Thursday, and after an hour of waiting he comes out to tell me "The lighting company sent us the wrong part."

He said that I could just get my money back if I wanted, or if I still wanted to do the install, he could have the correct light in the store overnighted and ready for the weekend. He promised to call me Friday, or Saturday the latest with an update. He never called.

I called on Saturday and again on Tuesday, and still no lights in store. He gave me various excuses and blamed the vendor instead of apologizing and taking ownership over the mistake.

I asked for a refund and said I would just come into the store today to get my money back. He told me he would not give me a refund. He was very immature on the phone and called me "Dude" every sentence and was very condescending with his tone.

I got mad and called HQ in Florida and made them aware. I also asked "[redacted]" if I could speak to his Owner about the issue and he said "No, I run the store." Basically he was very immature and unwilling to simply give me my money back and move on from this horrible experience.Desired Settlement: A sincere apology from management and a heads up to the employee to treat people with more respect and follow through on his word.

This is not true, the work we have done was working properly when the customer left. He called a few weeks later that something was not working properly. I offer him to bring the vehicle, set up 3 different appointments inspection of the problem he described and he failed to show up. He did not show us what is wrong with the problem and also did not give us a chance to take a look at the vehicle.

Review: On 03/14/2015, I had my car windows tinted at Tint World. They did poor job. I found the bubbles on each of the four windows after I made it home. I drove back to Tint World the same day and showed the person - [redacted], later on he told me he is the only owner of this shop. He was very unpleased to see I'm back. " it takes about 2-4 weeks to let the moist dry up. " he said it unpatiently with a mad face. He said he would take care of bubbles if they are still there after the waiting period. Also, he said the service is lifetime warranty.

On 04/13/2015, I went back with the same bubbles. I was expecting [redacted] is going to take care of the bubbles this time. But he said " None business and nobody can do it perfectly without any bubbles. " . I was very surprised with what he said. I was expecting that he was going to take care of the bubbles as he promised. But I was still hope he can help me out with the bubbles. Because of the mess after they tinted my windows, I asked him a favor to put protection inside the vehicle. He said:"NO! I'm not going to touchyour car and fix the windows." He turned around and rush back into the shop and left me I outside the parking lot. I tried to talk to him. But he turned out yelling, shouting at me : " You are an evil!" I was so frustrated. I felt so hopeless. I am filing this claim because of the defect product from this shop. And they refused to fix it. I paid $260. I am asking full refund.Desired Settlement: The shop is very unprofessional.

The customer services is poor.

I'm asking $260 full refund back and an apology letter mailed to me from [redacted].

To Whom It May Concern/ [redacted] complaint #[redacted]: I had the customer a miss [redacted] who is filing the complaint in this matter come to my establishment for some window tinting. Upon arrival the customer was very adamant I get her car done as quickly as possible as she has very important things to do that day in which she probably should have scheduled a different day then. Upon completion I instructed her to not roll down the windows for three days and that the tinting takes about two weeks in full to dry out including all bubbles, small perforations and streaking. She said okay and walked outside after paying to inspect the car. After about 20 seconds she comes back inside the waiting area and with a rude attitude and adamantly accuses us of doing an inferior tint job on the vehicle. I walked outside to inspect the car and it looked completely normal with some small water bubbles and a little streaking which is 100 percent normal. She said no you aren’t professionals and you don’t know what you’re doing. I said mam please give it a couple weeks to dry out, you have a full lifetime warranty so if any bubbles remain at all we will be glad to fix it. So a couple weeks go by and she returns very agitated and rude she says I still have bubbles all over my car. I walked outside to inspect and there was one single miniscule pinhead size bubble on one window. I said okay no problem would you like me to fix it and she blatantly yelled at me and said “NO!!! YOU ARENT PROFESSIONAL I WANT A REFUND RIGHT NOW I TOLD YOU THAT YOU NOT KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK NOW. I explained she had a lifetime warranty and I’d be happy to fix the window for her. She again stated she wanted her money back and I told her mam that’s not how it works and she states I can’t argue with her because she’s the customer and she is always right and that she’s a female which gives her the right not to be argued with ( feminism at its finest ). So I turned around and went to get my tinter [redacted] to have him inspect the vehicle. Upon coming back to the car she was wiping her car down with a California duster and my window tinter [redacted] reached for her door to inspect it and she smacked him with the duster on his right shoulder (which is assault) and screamed DON’T TOUCH MY CAR!!! I immediately told her to never touch my employees again and I will not tolerate that in my business. My tinter [redacted] walked back inside and so did I. After two minutes she comes back inside and screams so what you gonna do, I sad mam I will fix your window for you and again she says NO MY LAWYER IS COMING DOWN HERE , I said mam that’s for your day in court and I guess I’ll see you there. Infuriated she walks back to the car and I assume is speaking to her lawyer on the phone in which after 5 minutes of sitting in her car she comes back out recording my premises on her phone and then walk back inside and said so what you wanna do again you give me refund now I stated again mam I’ll be happy to fix your car but please treat us with respect and I’ll be happy to fix it for you. She left after that. I still will fix her window if she wants.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

Review: I went to this location to get the windows on my vehicle tinted. They upsold me to a premium level of tint that had a lifetime guarantee to not bubble or have any issues. The sales person told me not to bother saving the invoice because it was saved in the system they maintain. They promised a hour and a half turn around time. They gave me a ride to the local mall in the mean time. Three hours later I got a ride back and ended up sitting waiting for my car for an additional hour and a half. The owner called me later that day to appologize for the wait, and offered a free detailing to make up for the wait. The following year I called back to take the owner up on the offer. He had sold the establishment and I was out of luck on his offer. Two years later, a few of my windows are bubbling. I contacted them to have them fixed. The employee told me with the premium tint, bubbling should not occur. They also informed me that with the previous owner that had the shop when I was serviced, they had a reputation of selling the premium tint but using the standard product. Also the previous owner kept very poor records and many people were not on file. They refused to honor the lifetime warranty because I did not have the invoice, which the employee that dealt with the told me I did not need, and it was two and a half years ish later.Desired Settlement: I desire to have my vehicle re-tinted with the product I purchased to fix the bubbling issue. Also, I want the free detailing I was promised due to the initial horrible service.
