Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms*** *** complaint and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by the Regional Director of Operations Ramon R*** and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms*** complaint was
appropriately resolvedThis determination is based on the following information:In reviewing Ms*** complaint GCU walked her through the appropriate steps of admissions which provided her a detailed explanation of her pre-evaluation of transfer credits, a tuition price calculator (estimating cost of attendance) and she was guided through the admissions application and enrollment agreement She was also guided on how to pursue funding through her Native American tribe.GCU was fully transparent in the admissions process prior to MsVillalobos posting into class However, based on the writing sample from MsVillalobos’ Revdex.com complaint it is apparent that she should not have enrolled with GCU and was personally not prepared to pursue her studies at the University level Therefore, her outstanding balance with GCU will be waived and she will not be contacted any further by GCU for this balance GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion Sincerely,Ramon R***Regional Director of OperationsGrand Canyon University

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms*** *** complaint and we value the opportunity to respond. The issue has been reviewed by Dan S*** (Regional Director of Operations) and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms* *** complaint was
appropriately resolved.Upon review of Ms* *** records she attended GCU 2012-where she completed six courses in the Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Emphasis in Math). All of the courses she attended did have an actual instructor and in most cases it was full time faculty.I attempted to contact Ms*** on Wednesday March 9, and Thursday March 10, I left voicemails both times and sent her an email so we can discuss her concernsI want to make sure Ms*** understands that 100% of GCU’s online courses are taught by full time faculty or adjunct professorsI also want her to understand that instructors use a rubric to grade assignments so that is why it is possible to receive similar responses and feedback to assignments. As of July 28, Ms*** does have an outstanding balance ($1543.00) with GCU that was sent to collections due to withdrawing. If she would like to discuss her complaint in more detail I would be more than happy to talk to her and also provide her options on repayment.GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner. I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion. Sincerely,Dan S*Regional Director of Operations Grand Canyon University

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Mr*** ***s’ complaint and we value the opportunity to respond. The issue has been reviewed by Regional Director of Operations Sandra Rodriguez and based on that review, GCU has determined that Mr***s’ complaint was
appropriately resolved. This determination is based on the following information:Mr***s began course PSCon October 24, On November 1, he called his Student Services Advisor, Marcial Canisales Jr., and stated he was having issues in the course due to personal time constraints. MrCanisales advised Mr***s of the potential balance that would result from dropping his course as he was already past the refund period. Further that same day a financial aid stipend check in the amount of $2,had been mailed to Mr***s. Later that same week, Mr***s informed MrCanisales that he did in fact wish to drop his PSCcourse and withdraw from GCU. Per Mr***s request, he was dropped from his PSCcourse and withdrawn from GCU as of November 1, 2016. Because of Mr***s’ withdrawal, GCU was required to return $3,in financial aid to his lender as he had not met the requirements needed to earn the financial aid. The balance that resulted was both for Mr***s’ withdrawn course and the stipend that had already been sent to him. It should be noted that had Mr***s chose to return his $2,stipend check, it would have covered his GCU $2,account balance and he would not have had a balance with GCU. On February 7, 2017, Mr***s made payment arrangements with Collections Specialist Rony High of GCU’s Internal Collections department. Per the agreement, Mr***s was required to make two $payments a month. In order to accommodate Mr***s and allow some flexibility there was no specific dates or days that payment had to be made. However, the agreement was that Mr***s would make $payments each month towards his $2,balance. On January 4, Mr***s began making his payments towards his account balance. However, he missed payments in April, June, July, August and November of 2017. After his missed payment in November, Mr***s’ account was sent to an external collections agency because he had failed to meet the terms of his payment arrangement with GCU and also GCU had been unable to reach him. Despite the foregoing information, per Mr***s’ request, on January 4, GCU removed his account from external collections and returned it to GCU’s Internal Collections department. That same day, Student Services Manager Chris Conner attempted to reach Mr***s to let him know that GCU honored his request but was unable to reach him. Moving forward, Mr***s can contact Rony High at *** *** to continue to make payments per his original payment agreement. Further, Mr***s should be aware that any further missed payments could result in his account being transferred back to external collections. GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner. I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion. Sincerely,Sandra R***Military DivisionGrand Canyon University

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms*** *** complaint and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by the College of Education Regional Director of Operations, Steve M***, and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms***
complaint was appropriately resolved This determination is based on the following information:On January 12, Ms*** enrolled in GCU’s Master of Education in Special Education: Cross-Categorical Program On February 3, Ms*** was suspended from her program with for sixteen weeks due to not meeting GCU’s GPA progression policy Per GCU policy, the first time a student earns a grade that drops their cumulative GPA below the graduate requirement of 3.0, the student will be placed On Notice The student has up to three course attempts to raise their GPA to the respective requirement If the student is unable to increase their GPA within three courses, the student will no longer be On Notice and after the third course, will be Academically Disqualified for a period of weeks Ms*** had attempted course SPEtwice prior to her suspension and received failing grades after both attempts; on July 3, and September 11, On January 29, she also failed course SPE As a resultMs*** did not meet the requirements of GCU’s GPA progression policy therefore she was placed on a 16-week suspension and was sent a letter explaining the suspension, the policy and the reinstatement process. On July 15, Ms*** was reinstated after observing the required 16-week suspension period and was sent a letter informing her that she was approved for immediate return and per the University Policy Handbook, she must raise her GPA to over the next earned credits or face academic expulsion She was also informed that she would be required to repeat courses in which she was previously unsuccessful; SPEand SPEand that she was authorized to retake SPEfor a third and final time but must earn a passing grade or she would not be permitted to continue in her program of study Further, a grade not considered passing would result in her immediate removal from her program as she would have exceeded the number of retakes allowed per University policy On July 31, Ms*** began her third and final retake of course SPE558; however, on September 8, 2014; approximately two weeks prior to the end of the course, Ms*** stopped attending As a result, on October 10, Ms*** was dismissed from her program for not meeting the requirements of the academic plan that had been established during her reinstatement GCU sent Ms*** a letter informing her of this information and notifying her of her academic expulsion from GCU for a period of two years from her last date of attendance; September 8, Ms*** current GPA is due to the multiple non-passing grades mentioned above However, based on a recent review of her situation, she is eligible to apply for reinstatement If reinstated, Ms*** would have set requirements and be placed on an academic plan similar to the previous requirements University Counselor Ryan E*** attempted to contact Ms*** several times between May 11, and June 8, regarding the possibility of applying for re-instatement He left voicemails for Ms*** and also sent her email communication However MrE*** was unsuccessful in reaching Ms*** and to date, she has not returned any of his calls or emails Ms*** can contact MrE*** at ###-###-####-if she wishes to apply for reinstatementIf Ms*** decides to apply for and is granted reinstatement she will need to transfer in a course equivalent to SPEand will also need to retake course SPE Given Ms*** has been out of attendance since September 8, 2014, GCU’s Master of Education in Special Education: Cross-Categorical Program has since been retired in order to meet current educational standards GCU revises and discontinues programs from time to time to make sure we offer our students the most up to date education possible More specifically, GCU made necessary changes to its education programs to ensure compliance with the State of Arizona Department of Education special education regulations and requirements Additionally, per GCU policy, if a program changes or is no longer offered, GCU allows students that are in attendance for two years to complete their program However, students that are out of attendance for one year or more which is the case with Ms***, are required to transfer into the new version of the program (if available) or a new program Therefore, since Ms*** has been out of attendance for well over two years, if she does wish to apply for reinstatement and return to GCU to complete her Master’s degree, she would be required to re-enroll into a similar Master of Education in Special Education version of the program or another current program of her choice Further to the above, it is Ms*** contention that her SPE529N course did not meet the Special Education Competency Requirement for the State of Virginia and that she had to take another course through UNV to meet the requirements Ms*** completed this course over four years ago; on February 20, Therefore, given the length of time, this may be the reason that the course was not accepted since the *** ** *** Department of Education may have updated and adapted changes to their education requirements since However, Ms*** would need to contact the State of Virginia to determine the reason since GCU can only speculate why her course was not accepted by the State of Virginia Finally, in regards to the official Trinity Washington University transcripts which Ms*** mentions she sent to GCU, to date, GCU has not received any official transcripts from Trinity Washington University However, official transcripts can be mailed to the following address: Grand Canyon UniversityAttention; Dear Revdex.com,Grand
Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms*** ***’s complaint and
we value the opportunity to respond. The issue has been reviewed by the
College of Education- Matthew N*** and, based on that review, GCU has
determined that Ms***’s complaint requires
further actionThis
determination is based on the following information:University Counselor Rob
W*** met with Ms*** on May 26th, and discussed Ms***
returning to school. They had multiple
discussions throughout June and July and MrW*** assisted Ms***
with completing her application for admission as well as the financial steps
required to get started in her program. Additionally,
Ms*** received multiple copies of the Net Price Calculator so she would understand
the options available to her financially.
Ms*** was scheduled to start class on August 28, and on
August 14, 2017; two weeks prior to the start of her class she received a financial
welcome call explaining the finances available to her. Further on August 16, Ms*** and
her employer; Inspire Development Center completed a Direct Bill voucher. Per the agreement, Inspire Development Center
agreed to pay $5,towards Ms***’s 2017-school year. MrW*** has continued to work with Ms
***’s employer to determine when they would be sending the direct bill
funding to GCU per the agreement. Ms
*** was aware that she would receive federal financial aid initially and
the remaining funds would come to her after her employer issued the money to Grand Canyon University. As of October 10, 2017, GCU
has not received Ms***’s direct bill payment from her employer but has
continued to contact them to determine when it will arrive. Further, it has been communicated to GCU that
Ms*** is no longer employed with the Inspire Development Center,
therefore it could cause issues with them paying her tuition. All of Ms***’s federal financial aid
has already been applied to her GCU account but until the direct bill payment
is sent to GCU there is no additional stipend money available.Grand
Canyon University will continue to attempt to reach Ms***’s employer as
well as Ms*** to verify her eligibility for the direct bill
payment. Ms***’s Student Service Counselor
Sarah D*** and MrW*** have both continued to attempt to reach her;
however Ms*** will not speak with anyone on the phone and refuses to return
our calls. MrW*** and his Manager
Bart Barrett will be traveling to Ms***’s employer today in an attempt
to get answers about the status of her direct bill funding. At
this point, Grand Canyon University has done everything we can to collect the
direct bill payment and we will continue to do so as long as Ms*** is
willing to answer our calls. The University
can only request the funding but not mandate that her employer send it. We recommend that Ms*** also contact
her employer to request the funding.
There is nothing further we can do financially until the payment is sent
to GCU. GCU
takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve
them in an amicable manner. I hope the aforementioned information/actions
will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms*** *** complaint and we value the opportunity to respond The issue has been reviewed by the College of Education- Matthew N*** and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms*** complaint requires further
actionThis determination is based on the following information:Ms*** started her classes on September 28th, with Grand Canyon University Upon her starting her classes she received a thorough walk to class from her enrollment counselor Mike G*** which outlined the expectations of Ms*** class Three days after Ms*** started her class with GCU she contacted her assigned student service advisor, Catherine C*** on October 1st, and requested to withdraw from the program because her school offered her a different academic option MsC*** let her know of the financial impact of withdrawing from the course and Ms*** stated that she would not be able to pay so she would let us know what she decides with her withdrawal Approximately two hours later she contacted MsC*** again and let her know of her formal request to withdrawalAt that point Ms*** was notified again of her financial responsibility in the amount of $since she did withdraw during the first week of her course After leaving a voice message for Ms*** today, GCU has decided that in the interest of good customer service, GCU is willing to remove the $LMS fee from Ms*** account leaving a remaining tuition/fee b***ce of $that she will be responsible for paying While Ms*** is fully responsible for the b***ce of $GCU does understand the student’s situation and would like to work with the student to resolve the b***ce GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion Sincerely,Matthew N***College of EducationGrand Canyon University

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
I am not satisfied with this response because I was never notified that I had a remaining balance and that the time I was at the school I would have to pay that money back if I dropped outI was told by *** that the loan could be canceled due to the fact that I was never notified of the remaining balanceIn fact according to ***'s records they show that I am still a student which is because I have not been a student since So when I dropped out of the school I was told that all loans had been canceled and since all loans had been canceled I would owe the school over thousand dollars which I paid in full.

Dear Revdex.com, Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms*** ***’s rebuttal comments and we value the opportunity to respond. The issue has been reviewed by the Executive Director of Student Services, College of Doctoral Studies, Nancy P*** and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms*** complaint was appropriately resolved. This determination is based on the following information: We appreciate Ms*** efforts to secure funding for her future academic courses. Further, we understand the confusion on the dollar amounts discussed with Ms*** as it appears the Student Services Advisor did not clearly delineate the differences between amounts due for the academic year when residency was scheduled vsthe amounts owed for program completion. We apologize for not making this clearerThe amounts owed for the program completion may not be offered due to the unique academic journey of each doctoral learner as they embark on the dissertation processThe number of continuation courses (if any) cannot be predicted and is based entirely on the learner’s individual academic progress of their unique dissertation studyThe best information we can offer regarding the cost for future continuation courses, is the costs per credit hour of $plus a $Canyon Connect fee per course which can be used as a means for Ms*** to plan for her future expenses It is also important to note that tuition may change in the future as outlined in our Policy HandbookIn addition, GCU will gladly change Ms*** counselor to a seasoned Team Lead whom we hope will offer a more concise communication approach as it relates to financial matters We acknowledge the payment Ms*** made in the amount of $4,815. Those payments were received as such: 7/1/16: $4,(separate payments of $2,each) and 7/8/16: $These payments were applied towards Ms*** 6/23/course which totaled $1,920, and the remaining $credit and payments were applied toward her residency course which cost $2, The payments Ms*** made covered completely the amounts owed for these two courses ($+2,= $4,= amounts of payments made). Ms*** is accurate in stating her payments zeroed out her balance due. Since Ms*** was back in attendance, GCU was able to bring in the remaining financial aid available in her lifetime aggregate loan amountWe were able to bring in $worth of financial aid remaining on 7/12/which appears as a credit on her account and is available to pay towards her next course that begins on 8/18/16. I hope that helps explain the amount of $on Ms***’s account. It is a credit balance, and not an amount owed to GCU GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner. I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion. Sincerely, Nancy R P*** College of Doctoral Studies Grand Canyon University

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms. [redacted] complaint and we value the opportunity to respond.  The issue has been reviewed by the Associate Vice President, [redacted] and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms. [redacted] complaint was...

appropriately resolved.  This determination is based on the following information:Ms. [redacted] started class with GCU on 7/9/2015 and withdrew from class on 7/21/2015 with her last date of attendance on 7/17/2015.  GCU’s Course Tuition Refund police as outlined in the student handbook states that there will be no tuition refunded during or after the second week of class. GCU records indicate that Ms. [redacted] was actively attending her online class between 7/9/15 and 7/17/15 thus all charges are valid.  In addition to the above information, prior to starting class Ms. [redacted] received a welcome call in which the drop policy was covered.  That call took place on 5/28/2015.  Leading up to the call Ms. [redacted]’ Student Services Advisor (SSA), [redacted] attempted to contact her sooner for the welcome call on 5/18/2015, 5/21/2015 and 5/27/2015 and when he was unable to reach Ms. [redacted], he sent emails to her regarding GCU policies which included the refund policy.  In all three of those emails the following information was outlined:Drop Policy: If a course is dropped prior to the start date you will not be charged for the course. If you start a course and formally request to drop before week 1 ends you will be charged 25% for that course (canyon connect charge remains the same). If you drop or request to drop on or after day one of week two you will be charged the full course tuition. As well, the following refund policy is also outlined in the GCU Student Handbook: Course Tuition Refund – (Page 85 of Student Handbook)The University will refund tuition according to the following policy unless a student attending courses online is a resident of a state that requires the University to follow different guidelines. These state policies are listed in the State Refund Policies section of this handbook. Refer to the Official Enrollment Status Change section of the University Policy Handbook for a complete explanation of the University’s Withdrawal Policy.Nontraditional StudentsStudents who drop/withdraw from a course/all courses are eligible for the following refund:Before Week 1................................................ 100% tuition refundDuring Week 1 ................................................. 75% tuition refundDuring or after Week 2 ................................................... No refundGCU records also indicate that SSA [redacted] reached out to Ms. [redacted] on 7/16/2015. He left her a voicemail and also sent her an email in regards to her low grades in the class and advised her to email her instructor if she was having any issues in her course as she was coming down to the final two weeks of class.  On 7/17/2015 Ms. [redacted] replied that she was away from home and with her parents back east for their 50th wedding anniversary party but that she would email that day.  However, the next email received from Ms. [redacted] was not until 7/23/2015 in which she stated that she wanted to withdraw from her class.  Therefore, as stated above Ms. [redacted] balance is due and owing.GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner.  I hope the aforementioned information will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.  Sincerely,[redacted]Southwest DivisionCollege of Education

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of [redacted] complaint and we value the opportunity to respond.  The issue has been reviewed by the Regional Director of Operations, [redacted] and, based on that review, GCU has determined that [redacted] complaint was...

appropriately resolved. This determination is based on the following information:[redacted] was appropriately enrolled into her education degree program at the initial time of her enrollment.  Any degree in which a person is seeking licensure in teaching requires an individual to go through some form of a practicum or internship program prior to a student receiving an institutional recommendation before seeking licensure from a state board.  [redacted] was unwilling or unable to complete the student teaching aspect of her program therefore, she switched to the Bachelor of Arts in History program.  In regards to [redacted] complaint that she was placed in courses that she had previously taken at another institution, Grand Canyon University was unable to obtain her transcripts from the [redacted] due to an institutional hold that [redacted] had on her account for an outstanding balance.  Upon receipt of her official transcripts GCU did offset the cost of the courses that she did not need to take and offered a scholarship in lieu of the unnecessary coursework.  The balance that [redacted] owes to Grand Canyon University is valid and will no fees and charges will be removed from her account.  The reason for her balance is not due to any GCU error, but due to the fact that [redacted] was unable to continuously be successful in the classroom.  [redacted] was academically suspended in 2009 due to excessive non-passing grades and course withdrawals which dropped her GPA below standard academic progression requirements.  In 2010 [redacted] filed for and was approved for reinstatement into her program where she immediately received another non-passing grade in course HIS/331 from 5/31/2010 – 7/25/2010 and was academically suspended again for failing to meet the terms of her reinstatement.  Once [redacted] settles her balance with Grand Canyon University her transcripts would be eligible to be released to her.  GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner.  I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.  Sincerely,[redacted]Regional Director of OperationsGrand Canyon University

To date, the [redacted] has never contacted me about an audit regarding my attendance.  Since 2009, using [redacted] money, I have earned five degrees, and at three different levels.  This is not suspicious attendance.  GCU had to have already had my NAU transcript in order for me to be admitted to GCU.  Additionally, [redacted] told me over the phone, during our last scheduled introductory counseling session, that GCU already had all of my needed transcripts.  Thar is why I had not sent in my CSUS transcript.  So, the excuse that GCU could not process my [redacted] loan because they did not have all of the needed transcripts is not valid, as they had told me otherwise, and thus they created that situation.  Before I started class at GCU, GCU knew that I needed [redacted] money in order to pay them.  So, for them to let three weeks pass, and still not get their money from [redacted] is not my fault, thus not my problem.   This is another artificial problem that GCU created.  I never signed a contract, saying that I would pay for classes that were barely attempted, and that I could or would pay for classes out of pocket.  GCU did not use ~1900 worth of labor on me.  Therefore, this amount shocks the conscience for only three weeks worth of attendance. Why did GCU only now mention a military discount?  The same GCU person that responded to Revdex.com also just sent me an email, stating that my account has already been sent to collections.  This is unreasonable, as she knows that the amount due is being disputed.  If this shows up on my credit report, then this will need to be corrected by GCU. I feel that GCU is retaliating for my Revdex.com action.  GCU needs to be able to let students begin a class, but leave soon thereafter, and not have personal bills and bad credit due to it.If at the end, I agree to pay GCU anything, then I would need a fair payment plan.  I would also need any bad reports to the credit reporting agencies reversed.

Dear Revdex.com,Grand
Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms. [redacted]’s rebuttal complaint
and we value the opportunity to respond.  The issue has been reviewed by Regional
Director of Operations Kenneth Ash and, based on that review, GCU has
determined that Ms. [redacted]’s rebuttal complaint was appropriately
resolved. This determination is based on the following information:Prior
to students starting class at GCU they are provided a welcome call with a
counselor. During the welcome call, all participation expectations and
attendance requirements for GCU’s online classes are explained to the student.
Ms. [redacted] was provided a welcome call on July 7, 2010 prior to the start of
her July 12, 2010 class.  In addition,
all students are provided a class syllabus at the beginning of every class.  The class syllabus clearly outlines
attendance and participation requirements. In addition, Ms. [redacted] was
assigned an academic counselor as part of her support group so she could have reached
out to her counselor for assistance at any time about any classroom issues and
concerns she may have had. As
mentioned in GCU’s previous response, Ms. [redacted] failed to successfully
complete her classes.  Therefore, on
December 10, 2010 GCU was required to complete a partial return of her
financial aid grant in order to remain in compliance with Department of
Education regulations. This resulted in a balance on Ms. [redacted]’s account in
the amount of $2,311.56 which is past due and owing. We
are glad to hear that Ms. [redacted] wants to further her education and we wish
her success in doing so. However, as explained in GCU’s previous response and
to Ms. [redacted] on August 16, 2017 and August 17, 2010; GCU is unable to provide
Ms. [redacted] a transcript until she resolves her account balance.  Ms. [redacted] can however complete and submit a
form to inspect and review her educational records if she wishes to do so.  This would allow GCU to release evidence of
Ms. [redacted]’s attendance at GCU. In
regards to the settlement offer that Ms. [redacted] was offered on her delinquent
account balance, GCU’s Collection Department may have informed Ms. [redacted] that
she would need to pay the $1,200 within 30 days as that is GCU’s standard
timeframe for settlement offer payments.
However, GCU is willing to extend Ms. [redacted]’s payment period
indefinitely.  Ms. [redacted] can contact
Tanya V[redacted] at [redacted] or [redacted] to discuss the settlement offer.GCU

them in an amicable manner.  I hope the aforementioned information/actions
will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.  Sincerely,Kenneth A**College of

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms. [redacted] complaint and we value the opportunity to respond.  The issue has been reviewed by the [redacted] and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms. [redacted] complaint was appropriately resolved. This determination is based on the following information:Ms. [redacted] started with Grand Canyon University on 6/26/17. She was financially cleared to start classes based on the completion of the required financial aid documents. Prior to starting her classes, she had a full review with her University Counselor of the costs of her courses, related fees and scholarships, as well as approximations of the financial aid she may be eligible for. Also, prior to starting classes, a Student Services Counselor reviewed all necessary subjects including the drop policy (Dropping a course before starting class is 100% refund, dropping a course in the first week of starting class is 75% refund, dropping a course after the first week of starting class is 0% refund.), financial aid processing times, the financial aid disbursement schedule, as well as many other things not applicable to her complaint. During the next 2 weeks, GCU representatives made 5 attempts to reach Ms. [redacted], leaving several messages however we were not able to reach her. On 7/20/17, Ms. [redacted] sent an email to Erica G[redacted], her Student Services Counselor that she wanted to withdraw from school. Also on 7/20/17, Ms. [redacted] called in to discuss withdrawing. In speaking with Ms. G[redacted], Ms. [redacted] stated that every school she’s been to provided her with financial aid within 2 weeks of starting class, if not before she started class. Erica let her know what the processing times were and correctly reminded her that these were reviewed in her welcome call prior to starting class. Ms. [redacted] stated that she did not remember discussing that. Ms. [redacted] is stating that Ms. G[redacted] told her she had to complete all 3 classes or she would owe for them. This is incorrect in that Ms. G[redacted] explained Ms. [redacted] would owe for the class she is currently attending. Ms. G[redacted] also explained that per the rules of the Department of Education, if we were able to bring in funds and she withdrew from class prior to completion of the 3 courses required by the DoE, GCU would have to return the funds and Ms. [redacted] would most likely have out of pocket costs. Ms. [redacted] requested to withdraw from her first course on the third week of class which, per GCU drop policy would result in a 0% refund of tuition. She is also responsible for a $400 nonrefundable LMS fee which is a onetime charge that occurs when a student starts classes at GCU. GCU has not brought in any of Ms. [redacted] Financial Aid funding as of 7/21/2017 to cover her school costs. Ms.  [redacted] is responsible for the cost of her first course as well as the LMS fee.  GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner.  I [redacted] the aforementioned information/actions [redacted] bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.  Sincerely,[redacted]College of Humanities and Social Sciences Grand Canyon University

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms. [redacted] complaint and we value the opportunity to respond.  The issue has been reviewed by the Executive Director of Student Services, Nancy Patt and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms. [redacted] complaint was...

appropriately resolved. This determination is based on the following information:On the same day Ms. [redacted] submitted the letter to the Revdex.com, she spoke to Ms. P[redacted] and discussed a plan to return to class.  The balance due by Ms. [redacted] in the amount of $1,890 is due to Ms. [redacted] April 9, 2015 course that she attended and successfully completed, but never paid.On March 25, 2015 Ms. [redacted] was informed by her Dissertation Student Services Advisor (DSSA) that she was at her Stafford lifetime aggregate loan limits and that she would need a new payment option to pay for her future courses.  She was tentatively scheduled for class for April 2, 2015 as long as payment in full was received or Federal Grad PLUS loan documentation was provided. On this same date, the DSSA emailed Ms. [redacted] the instructions to fill out the Federal Grad PLUS loan to assist her with obtaining a new payment option. On April 6, 2015, Ms. [redacted] escalated to a Manager because her course schedule was removed as she had not paid for the course in advance nor completed the necessary Federal Grad PLUS paperwork to process the loan.  The Manager agreed to allow Ms. [redacted] in to the April 9, 2015 class as Ms. [redacted] advised she would make her payment in full by June 2, 2015 for her course that ended on June 3, 2015. The Manager agreed to allow her in the April 9, 2015 course as long as the appropriate payment plan document was completed.  Ms. [redacted] was not granted access to the April 9, 2015 course until April 13, 2015 as she did not provide the payment plan document until this date.  Unfortunately, Ms. [redacted] completed the April 9, 2015 course but defaulted on this payment plan as payment was declined on June 2, 2015.  All future courses were deleted until Ms. [redacted] paid for the course in full OR provided the appropriate Grad PLUS documentation. Between June 2, 2015 and June 29, 2015, eight calls and emails were placed to Ms. [redacted] in an attempt to resolve her balance.  On June 29, 2015 Ms. [redacted] did email her counselor that a personal matter arose and the best way to contact her was via email. Further, she acknowledged the balance and that she intended to pay it in full. However, since Ms. [redacted] failed to make payments nor did she respond to due diligence attempts, her account was sent to GCU internal collections on September 4, 2015.  Ms. [redacted] Grad PLUS documentation was finally received on September 10, 2015 after the account was submitted and coded to GCU’s internal collections team.  Had Ms. [redacted] provided the Grad PLUS paperwork during her course or paid it in full as she stated she would do, there would have been no delays in her courses. On October 20, 2015, Ms. P[redacted] spoke to Ms. [redacted] to discuss her current balance.  In an effort to assist Ms. [redacted] in completing her program, Ms. P[redacted] offered her a $1,000 credit via a Back on Track Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to assist Ms. [redacted] with the balance. On October 26, 2015, Ms. P[redacted] called Ms. [redacted] to confirm her account was returned from collections and emailed Ms. [redacted] the Back on Track MOU to start class on October 29, 2015.  Ms. [redacted] expressed her satisfaction with this outcome.  Her Grad PLUS loan will be processed as soon as Ms. [redacted] posts in to class on October 29, 2015, and her $1,000 credit will also be processed.  The remaining $890 will be paid by Ms. [redacted] upon receipt of her stipend check to resolve the balance in full.   In summary the settlement offered was that GCU removed Ms. [redacted] account from collections, and offered her a $1,000 credit toward her outstanding balance if Ms. [redacted] returns to class on October 29, 2015.  As soon as she posts in class, her Grad PLUS loan will be processed to allow her to move forward toward program completion.GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner.  I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.  Sincerely,Nancy R. Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms. [redacted] rebuttal comments and we value the opportunity to respond.  The issue has been reviewed by the Regional Director of Operations Dan B[redacted] and, based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms. [redacted] complaint requires further action.  This determination is based on the following information:I reached out to [redacted] on 5/25/16 to notify her that the recent statement she provided regarding her verification process had been submitted and now we are just awaiting a response from the Office of Financial Aid.  I also informed Ms. [redacted] that GCU would write off the balance on her account due to the Student Services Advisor incorrectly scheduling Ms. [redacted] for the current class without financial clearance if her verification statement was not accepted. On 5/31/16 the Office of Financial Aid approved Ms. [redacted] verification statement.  Thus, Ms. [redacted] has now completed the Verification process in its entirety and as a result, GCU will request funds from the Department of Education to cover the cost of both of Ms. [redacted]’ classes.  On 5/31/16 Student Services Advisor Andrea H[redacted] notified Ms. [redacted] of this information. GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner.  I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.  Sincerely,Dan B[redacted]Regional Director of OperationsGrand Canyon University

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms. [redacted] rebuttal complaint and we value the opportunity to respond.  The issue has been reviewed by the Britt C[redacted] Associate Vice President College of Education and based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms. [redacted] complaint was appropriately resolved. This determination is based on the following information:The Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program is a program initiated by the federal government and is not guaranteed by GCU. The program’s intent is to encourage individuals to enter and continue in the teaching profession. GCU provides information to students so that they understand that the program is there if they qualify and want to use it.  The below link gives a complete breakdown of the program.[https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/teach... Ms. [redacted] completes the requirements she can submit the loan forgiveness application through Direct Loans or her loan servicer that Direct Loans has assigned to her.  For additional question Ms. [redacted] can contact Direct Loans or her loan servicer.  Ms. [redacted] received a valid degree that she can use to become a teacher.  Thus GCU would not refund the cost of her tuition to cancel out the loans that she agreed to before enrolling and starting classes.  GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner.  I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.  Sincerely,Britt C[redacted]Southwest Division RDOAssociate Vice President College of EducationGrand Canyon University

Dear Revdex.com,Grand Canyon University (“GCU”) is in receipt of Ms. [redacted] rebuttal complaint and we value the opportunity to respond.  The issue has been reviewed by the Business Division Regional Director of Operations Danielle R[redacted] and based on that review, GCU has determined that Ms. [redacted] complaint was appropriately resolved. This determination is based on the following information:On March 8, 2016 Student Services Manager Daniel D[redacted] attempted to contact Ms. [redacted] to review her initial Revdex.com response.  However he was unable to reach her and was only able to leave a message.  As stated in its previous response GCU can find no records which indicate that Ms. [redacted] stated she did not want to continue her education until her federal student aid was processed. Ms. [redacted] is welcome to provide communication where she made this request with her advisor.       In regards to Ms. [redacted] question on why her balance owed cannot be taken out of her student loans, as stated in the previous response, Ms. [redacted] did not complete the required verification process.  Therefore, she was not awarded financial aid for her 2015/2016 financial aid award year. GCU has conducted another review of its records regarding the contact attempts mentioned in its previous response and every phone call and email is documented for the dates mentioned.  Further, any contact attempts from Ms. [redacted] were either returned by GCU via a phone call or via email. GCU takes student complaints very seriously and does everything it can to resolve them in an amicable manner.  I hope the aforementioned information/actions will bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.  Sincerely,Danielle R[redacted]College of Nursing and Health Care Professions Grand Canyon University
