Review: I dropped off my 2012 Honda Civic for an oil change on 8/**/13. When I picked it up, the total came to $76. I paid the bill, but knew it was expensive. I was given fully synthetic oil. I called my local Honda dealership and they said that I should have been given a synthetic blend and that they would have charged me $40. They said that fully synthetic oil is unnecessary for my car and is more expensive. My owner's manual specifies Honda Motor Oil 0W-20, which is a blended synthetic oil and is at least $20 cheaper than the fully synthetic oil they gave me. I believe that Valvoline overcharged me because I am a woman. My father called them to try to rectify the problem, but they were rude to him and wrongfully told him that I requested the synthetic oil.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the difference of the synthetic vs synthetic blend oil. This should be $23-$28.

Review: Took my lexus rx350 their for oil change. They recommended transmission fluid change and the change was made. After 1K miles the transmission was damaged. according to lexus service schedule the tramsmission fluid should only be inspected not changed. Also the trnamission fluid they used was valvoline maxlife atf. Lexus says only toyota ws atf should be used else the transmission will be damaged. I strongly believe the trnamission change at valvoline damaged my car. They did something which is not recommended by manufacturer and also used a different fluid . I had to pay 5k to get my car fixed.Desired Settlement: my cost needs to be returned

Review: On July [redacted], 2013, I went to Valvoline, to have the AC repaired on my SUV. I paid $135.46 (Invoice [redacted]) for the repair, was told it was fixed and took it home. After three days the AC stop working. I return to Valvoline on July **, 2013 to have them look at it again; when the two mechanic there told me it could not be fixed. At that point, I asked for a refund and was told I would have to come back when the manager was on site which, would be the [redacted] of July. I went in on the [redacted] and the manager, [redacted], informed me that refunds are processed at the head office and it will take 3 to 7 business days to get the refund. I waited almost 2 weeks for the refund which, I never received. I called the manager who proceeded to tell me that head office was backed up which, was delaying several refunds. I went in a week and a half later, August [redacted], 2013 to query about my refund and the manager asked to look at the AC again. He told me, once again, that the AC was fixed and if the AC stop working again I should call him. The AC stopped working the following day; I called [redacted] who told me he would call the head office to give me a refund. Its been over a week and I still have not received my refund.Desired Settlement: I believed that if I paid for a service, I should get what I paid for and if that is not followed through properly then a refund should be the out come.

Review: I went to the establishment to get a NYS Inspection and an oil change on the [redacted] of October. The salesman asked at that time if I would like my air filters changed. I stated only if they needed to be. I left my car there at around 12:00 and returned around 4:00. When I went to check out the salesman/mechanic stated that they changed the air filter and the cabin filter, at that time I asked to see the filters. The cabin filter clearly did not need to be changed. He stated to be fair he would take some money off. It wasn't much it was a $41.99 filter and he took off $11.50. I paid knowing I was scammed. I then went to start my car and the battery was completely dead. I stated what did you do to my battery? It's a new battery. They stated they did nothing wrong and that no light s were left on. I knew they clearly did something..I never had a problem with the battery. They had to jump start it. I demanded it in writing what had happened. He gave me any invoice stating what had happened. I left there and called the corporate office. I was directed to a woman who owns or manages that establishment. She called me back a while later and stated she reviewed the video of the happenings with my car during the time it was at the facility, and informed me that no lights were left on and no foul play was done to my car. I asked to see the video, and she stated she was getting a copy and I could see it next week. On the morning of the [redacted] of October, I had to use my defroster fan to drive to work and it was making a humming sound. I came to work and called her back again telling her about the noise in motor of the fan. She stated she was going to be at the Newburgh location that day. So after work I arrived at the facility by myself. She and some man come over to me. She got on the passenger side of the door and man came over to my side. I turned the fan on so they could here the noise and the man was looking like he didn't hear anything. The lady opened up my glove box and took out the cabin filter that was just replaced and than pulled out some kind of candy wrapper. All was good with the fan. I then went to review the video of my service. I saw a short clip with a lot of fast forwarding. What was clear on the video was that my lights were left on during the entire service even during the oil change. I stated wonder why my battery died you clearly left the lights on and who knows what else was on in the car, radio etc. She stated that the lights shouldn't have been left on, but the car started right up after the service so she didn't know what happened to the battery. The man then asked what's the big deal you have a good battery. I stated WHAT"S THE BIG DEAL? You drained a new battery of a customer because of negligence and your asking me what the big deal is? I stated you can buy me a new battery so I can have piece of mind and you can keep my old new battery that you drained. He said no. Also, on the video he said look how white the new cabin filter is when it was being replaced and look at that filter on the car how dark it it. I stated I don't know what that thing is on the car (at this time I'm thinking it was the air filter) but if you fast forward the video you will see the filters on the counter because I asked to see them. The cabin filter was clean and he stated that that would be my opinion. He never did show me that part of the video. He stated I will be receiving a copy of the video. We then went over to check the my battery and he said it's good it should read 500 and it was reading 495. The women saw the indicator on the battery that it was made 12/**. I then look at my engine and asked what is that all around the oil cap? She stated it was seepage and the man was claiming it was oil detergents wipe with a rag. I left telling them I would see them in court. I left there not feeling good now about the oil change they did. I got home and asked my husband to check my oil and to look at my engine. He opened the hood and was upset about the look of it and checked my oil. At that time there was very little oil detected, so he went to take the oil cap off and it was stuck. He had to get a to get it off with pliers or a wrench. I called the lady on the phone and stated she needed to come to my house and look at my car because I wasn't driving it anywhere. She arrived again with the man and at that time time the oil was detected but the oil cap was damaged. The man again acting smug like nothing was wrong stating I never worked on your car to know what the cap is like and I stated and you never will work on my car. He then went to take the cap off and was turning with all his strength and finally the cap came off. My husband asked if you had to be Hercules. The man had a foolish look on his face and looked at my husband and stated he would reimburse him for the cap when he receives a receipt. I asked him to take the oil change and the cabin filter off my bill, he again stated no. I called him a few choice words and told them I will be seeing them in court. I'm sure the Judge would like to see the WHOLE VIDEO. Again, I went for a NYS Inspection and an oil change. They drained a new battery with the response what's the BIG DEAL? They replaced a cabin filter that didn't need to be replaced (which he claims is my opinion) and left a candy wrapper stuck behind it, and broke my oil cap. The only thing he offered was to reimburse me for the oil cap when he receives the receipt for it. Horrible Service and Horrible Customer Relation.Desired Settlement: I would like full reimbursement for the entire bill plus of course the money for the oil cap. I would also like a copy of the whole video. I'm hoping that nothing fell in my engine because of the broken oil cap. They were negligent in every part of the service.

Review: To whom it may concern,This comment is a complaint to Corporate since I can't find any other means of communication with your company. I am speaking on behalf of my Fianc, I brought her vehicle in to get an oil change on June *, 2013. I went to Instant oil change location at [redacted]. The front left tire of the vehicle had a preexisting Tire Pressure Monitoring system valve stem problem. The mechanic who was working on the car - [redacted] knew about the valve problem and still forced the nozzle onto the valve to put air into the tire which ended up breaking the valve completely. I drove the car home just fine and it was sitting in the driveway for about 4 and a half hours when I noticed the tire was flat all the way to the rim. We called up the Valvoline station and spoke to the manager where in fact he admitted that his mechanic knew about the valve issue but still forced the nozzle on. His negligence just made us spend $130.36 to fix the problem, he should never have touched the tire knowing about that problem. I was going to sit here and write a good review until this happened. I will be seeking legal advice from my Lawyer and will take every step necessary to make sure this station is written up and reprimanded with the proper consequences. [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would like a refund on the repair, the oil change, and that location to be reprimanded with the proper consequences for negligence.

Review: Engine became completely unavailable, found no oil inside, only 2 weeks after the recommended engine flush and engine oil change: The car, 2004 Hyundai SANTA FE (99,007 in mileage), had a service of engine flush on top of conventional oil change in 10/08/2013. The engine flush service was recommended by service manager, Mr. [redacted].The car suddenly stopped its engine, after 9 days on a highway. Being towed by Geico roadside assistance, to the nearby service shop, [redacted] Hyundai. A two-weeks' thorough inspection about the cause of the incident was conducted, which was requested by Geico insurance. It stated that mechanically failed oil-pressure-sensor ended up not detecting the fatal condition of low oil. A mechanic at the shop, Mr. **, commented that an engine flush service conducted by Valvoline was completely unnecessary for the Hyundai engine, not to mention at such high mileage. The inspection did not find any other mechanical faults in the car associated with the engine breakdown. Since engine oil was replaced at the time of service, we can clearly establish a causal relationship between a service conducted from Valvoline and the engine breakdown which occurred within 9 days.Desired Settlement: I want Valvoline to replace damaged parts due to the aforementioned incident, as was estimated from Hyundai [redacted] below, or to compensate for the damage monetarily. Mechanical estimate to repair:I need replacement of an engine ([redacted], cost $6042.21), timing belt (24312-37400, cost $ 108.10), tensioner ([redacted], cost $89.56), sept ([redacted], cost $26.18), lof (cost $34.95) and other miscellaneous parts, totaling $9400.

Response:

We spoke with the garage and [redacted] at [redacted] Hyundai stated that the service we performed on the vehicle was not the cause of engine failure. The oil pressure switch was leaking and no indicator light came on the dash.

We also spoke to Mr. [redacted] and told him it was not caused by our service. He asked for it in writing. My response was we will be responding to the letter he filed with Revdex.com and he would receive a copy.

If you have any other questions please call.

Thanks,

Review: I believe the company purposely never quotes a price until the work is complete and the customer is stuck. Then the company overcharges for a simple oil change. I was charged $64.85. I later determined Ford charges only $32.95 plus tax for the same service. I was offered no choice in type of oil, quality of oil, etc. I would assume a car dealership, paying union wages, would be the most expensive place to go for an oil change. Ford's price even includes a free tire rotation. I was charged double of what the real cost should have been.Desired Settlement: Ford's price is $35.25 with tax. $64.85 - $35.25 = $29.60. I believe I should be refunded $29.60 for Valvoline charging double for the oil change service.

Review: On Friday October 10,2014 I took my 2005 Outback 2.5 XL Limited into Valvoline for serviceI was there to get a premium oil change. My car was running fine and not smoking when I arrived at facility. During the oil change process I was told/showed that I needed an air filter in addition to the oil change. I agreed and it was replaced. When the oil change was completed I left the station. When I drove home a short distance (about a block away) from the Valvoline facility, I observed what appeared to be smoke in my rear view mirror. I was in traffic at the time so I had to continue until I could stop my car to make a call to Valvoline. I spoke with male Valvoline representative on the phone and explained that it was smoke coming from my car and I had just left their location. The Valvoline rep said it was probably just smoke from oil being spilled and burning off. I asked him if should I turn around and come back to the facility. He said it wasnt necessary but if I continued to have issues to call and to bring it back. I made it home with the car. I had just finished my early AM shift so I went to sleep and later when I went to start the car the smoke was worse than before. I checked the oil and found no oil registering on the stick. I did this several times with the same result. I called Valvoline and spoke with Chuck (manager). He advised me to bring the car back to Valvoline facility. I told him that I was not able to drive the car, I was afraid I would damage the car or even be stopped by police for the smoke. I called again to the Valvoline facility on Saturday October 11, 2014 and spoke with Chuck again. He stated that he would come out to my home and take a look at the car my car at 10:00 AM. Two technicians (Ebony -assistant manager) and Ryan from Valvoline came out about 11:45 AM. I was told that Chuck had car trouble and that is why they were late and why he didnt come himself. The oil was checked by them both and they had the same results as I had found, No oil on the stick. EbDesired Settlement: Due to the fact that my car was running fine and not smoking before it was taken into the Valvoline facility I would request Valvoline be held responsible for any and all repairs and cost associated with the repair of my vehicle. The total costs at this point are unknown, but to replace the turbo and diagnosis the costs are $2900.00 The [redacted] service center is trying to determine if any damage has been done to the engine as well.

Regards,

Review: I had my oil changed on Friday 4/11/2014 at the Valvoline Instant Oil Change in [redacted]. I live in North Carolina, but was in Northeast PA for a funeral. I needed an oil change before driving back to North Carolina and chose the Valvoline. The service tech at Valvoline told me that my gasket plug needed to be changed, he told me it was no big deal and there would be no charge, however they did charge me a dollar for that part. No big deal, but it was a foreshadowing of what was to come. I drove the vehicle (a 2013 [redacted] with around 22k miles ) from northeast PA to NC on Saturday 4/12/14, arrived home late that afternoon and parked the vehicle. On Sunday 4/13/14, I went out in the morning to run errands, instead I discover a huge pool of oil in my driveway. I immediately drove the vehicle to the Valvoline on [redacted] in [redacted], NC. The gentlemen working there were nice to take a look at my vehicle after I had explained the situation to them. Upon their investigation of the vehicle, the advised me that the wrong sized gasket had been placed in my drain plug and my engine oil was critically low. Upon hearing this news, I immediately attempted to contact [redacted], the store manager in [redacted]. The gentleman who answered the phone advised me that the manager [redacted] was not available and that he would call him immediately and that I would hear from him first thing Monday morning. Well, Monday came and went and no one has contacted me. They were negligent, almost destroyed my vehicle, and they couldn't take the time to apologize. I expect my money to be refunded and some sort of courtesy to be extended considering how extremely bad this situation could have ended over a 600 mile trip. You expect service professionals to be able to complete a simple oil change. I now also have a huge oil stain in my brand new concrete driveway. Just a constant reminder of what pathetic operation they run at [redacted] Valvoline. I should be compensated for that as well.Desired Settlement: I would like a complete refund of the service provided $84.77.I'd also like Valvoline to arrange to have a professional cleaner come to my property and remove the gigantic oil stain in my driveway. Photos can be provided if needed.

Hello,

did not do what I paid for.I paid for oil change which includes checking fluid levels and topping them of if needed. I specifically asked if all levels were checked as it seemed to be a quicker change than usual. And I also didn't see him check and /or fill anything. . Shortly there after I started seeing my brake light come on. Wasn't sure what it was, so about 5 days after the oil change on [redacted] I took car to mechanic. Found out brake fluid was just about empty,. I told my mechanic that "can't be, I just had oil changed on [redacted] and they assured me all was filled. I then checked washer fluid that too was very low. I took car back to valve line, they said they don't look in reservoir to check brake fluid, as a matter of fact they said they don't even carry brake fluid. Yet the receipt says brake fluid, washer fluid, and all other fluids were checked and are OK. WHEN IN FACT THEY WERE NOT. I will take it back to my mechanic when I can to check the other fluids, as I'm on way to vacation out of state. Thankfully I do not need my car for vacation.HOW DO I KNOW THEY REALLY CHANGED MY OIL.Desired SettlementBecause of the fact I do not trust that this business did a proper oil change and inspection as they advertised. I want my $30.99 refunded, as I will now need to take it to get a proper oil change. I also want them to ADVERTISE that they do not really look at your fluids and do not fill fluids like they state. AND THAT THEY HAVE NO BRAKE FLUID ON THEIR PREMISES, so people will no longer think that are checking and filling as needed. I have been going here for awhile and never told they don't check. Always had paper saying they checked it. When in fact they don't even take the cap off is what the manager told me. CUSTOMERS NEED TO BE NOTIFIED OF THIS.Business Response helo, our customer invoice clearly states that we do not add to the brakfluid or that we open it.we only do a visual inspection through the side of the bottle. brake fluid level going low indicates that brake pads are worn down and it should never be topped off.I will be happy to refund the customer the cost of her oil change if that is what she desires please advise.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)On my receipt it says brake fluid checked and OK. . It clearly was not. Also there was no washer fluid either. Yeas I want my money back so that I can get a oil change done correctly. And where does it state you don't check brake fluid? In small print? On the invoice I get AFTER the oil change? Why did it state that my brake fluid was ok? How do you know if you didn't check, and it was EMPTY. I BROUGHT MY CAR IN ON A MONDAY,. IT WAS NOT USED AGAIN UNTIL SATURDAY AS I LEFT MONDAY NIGHT, AND WAS OUT OF TOWN. SATURDAY IS WHEN I NOTICED NO BRAKE FLUID OR WASHER FLUID. YES I WANT MY MONEY BACK.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)I am glad they are giving me my money back because I feel that I did not get a proper oil change and now I can get reimbursed and get a oil change for what I paid for. Which will include ALL fluids checked and filled as needed.including brake fluid.Final Business Response hello, the customer states that she does not accept our offer but in her reply states that she does want her money back which is what our offer is.in order for us to refund customer needs to accept our offer and this matter needs to be resolved.thanks

Review: hello,I would like to speak with [redacted] or the current manage about my most recent oil change.the problem should be easily rectified and I can better describe it verbally. there are a few components to this problem, but in general, there is a new drain plug that was installed when I had my oil change. my mechanic noticed it because I told him I had a leak and because it was his grandaughter's car before I bought it from him a few days before I had my car serviced by you.I took the car to my mechanic because I noticed oil on my driveway. I was told I had wetness but not a leak when I had my oil changed and that it was coming from the main seal. I did not look closely at my receipt which said 'leak', so legally I do not have any recourse. however, I am hoping for a good faith response from you in helping me solve this problem.the main seal is bone dry, as is the area around the drain plug. my mechanic wiped the excess oil away from the filter itself and every other wet area below it. whatever leak there is, is very small, and I only care about because its staining my driveway. the car has many miles on it and i'm not looking for money. but I do know there wasn't a leak; it was dry. I simply want the valvoline manager to hear me out and take a look at it and make any recommendations as to the cause of the leak and why there is a new drain plug on it. my mechanci told me to bring it back to him if it continues to leak, which it may not because its possible that the only problem was excess oil not wiped off at the time of the oil change; what does not make sense to me is why there was enough oil to drip down the car and onto my driveway 5 weeks after I took it to you, and upon getting it checked out, discovored a brand new pan plug that wasn't there before.i'm not looking for money, just an answer to my concerns.thanksDesired Settlement: I would like an explanation in person, and if there is a determination that valvoline was in error, to correct the error.
