Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Reviews (%countItem)

This review is about Vasa's business practices.
My wife and I signed up for a family membership. Then a year later the card on file expired. They notified me and I updated the card on file. Problem solved, right?
Vasa apparently set us up with different account, and only updated MY account, and not my wife's. They also never notified her/I that her apparently separate account did not have payment information.
We continued to attend the gym regularly for months, scanning in with each of our barcodes the whole time without any issue.
Meanwhile Vasa charges late fees, and ultimately cancelled my wife's account and sold it to the scammiest, sm bucket collections company possible (Aldous & Associates).
I've called Vasa multiple times and despite this being their oversight, they told me to there's nothing they can do and to just deal with the collections agency. Aldous, is now charging me 2x the monthly charges + late fees, has scarred my credit, and wont pick up the phone despite 30+ calls to try and get this resolved.
The 1 time I was able to a human the rep straight up lied about everything, even though I had all of the contracts, and paperwork from Vasa to prove what I was saying.
Vasa's gym's are fine, but I'll absolutely never do business with them again. Mistakes happen, but they refused to even attempt to fix it, and left me to deal with the sm of the earth that they chose to represent them to customers.
instead of saying anything to us the dozens of times we went to the gym.
I called Aldous and their rep lied about absolutely everything!
1. SDA said the balance was double the actual balance That's false. (confirmed by Vasa)
2. SDA said the account was still active so charges were still accruing. That's false. The account was confirmed cancelled by Vasa
3. SDA said they don't own the account, they are just a call service to try to get payment. That's false. They purchase accounts from Vasa that they can they try to mark up and collect on (confirmed by Vasa).
4. SDA said they would need authorization from Vasa to reduce/dispute the amount. That's false. Vasa provided me with account history, transaction history, cancellation confirmation, and my contract showing the correct amount.
Now, apparently the only way to "dispute" this is to send them a letter to a PO Box and wait for them to mail me a response...
Absolute dishonest scam, and I've reported to Utah consumer affairs.

Joined VASA Tucson in mid Feb. 2020. Went 1 month and was charged $26. Was charged $20 for a 2nd month the day before they closed on March 17 for the following month. Then charged yearly fee of $50 in mid April when they were closed. Received notice day before they reopened at the end of August and was told I would be charged another $20 for use of the gym until mid October when I told them I will not be returning due to covid-19 concerns. At least they responded to emails this time, which they did not do when they closed in March. Numbers are rounded up on charges from 19.99 to 20 and 49.99 to 50. Do not think charges are fair and believe that I was overcharged almost $90.

Just stay away from this business - Ive been a member for many months and was also signed up for group training. With covid and pandemic, I decided to stay away from visiting the gym and had to call many times to keep a freeze on my account. They only have 3 months freeze and unless you call them again, wait on the customer care line for 25 mins, you can't put another freeze. With having multiple discussions on the lady on phone, I ended up cancelling the account for my entire family and it costed me overall $350 for me to cancel the memberships for me and my wife.
I can say they were the most untrustworthy business out here in Utah and waiting to make free money out of you. Before you fall into their sales pitches and the sales guys sitting next to the entrance, think again and back out. Never again I will spend a single penny with these crooks.

+1

Please read all the other reviews - you'll see a common theme. VASA will continue to charge you even after you end your subscription. Avoid this place. They are untrustworthy.

We were charged our annual membership fee with no advanced notice in June. Two days later and they closed the gyms down. We tried to get refunded for the annual membership fee and cancel our membership that we've barely been able to use for 4 months now. We have to "reactivate" our membership which means pay for services which we can't even use so that they can have their 30 days notice. Even though they've changed the agreement and will require masks to actually workout in and we have medical conditions that prohibit us from doing that. Terrible "policy" and they do nothing to try and help during this difficult time.

My son, husband and I have memberships at VASA. We put our accounts on hold - per their instructions - in March when everything closed for this stupid political covid BS. My account still shown - "on hold" yet, when the local location opened for 3 weeks without training services or any of the amenities I pay a higher membership price for - they charged me 100% monthly fees, a price guarantee for my husbands account and 4 training sessions of $160 - so I am out $256 and they wont fix it.
I told them that I would return when this crap was over if they refunded money - that I need NOW - but they kept saying my account is 'subscription based' and they can charge me no matter that the services I pay for were not offered....
closing this checking account and not returning - I am sure they will sue me for breach of contract - but they breached 1st - it is worth the attorney fees to not be lied to and used to advance their big company.
VASA got $10million dollars in PPP money - yet they screw the members to get more -

I moved out of state and am currently trying to cancel my membership. It says you must do it online, but when I do, it says I am not allowed to cancel online and must email. I email and they take over a week to respond (They say 72 hours to expect a response) and ask an arbitrary question to give themselves another week plus. I can only imagine it is trying to charge me again when they eventually open. Great facility, but very dishonest business practices.

I've been trying to get my accounts cancelled since July 16th. I filled out the support form and sent and email to support. Some one finally replied to my email and now trying to charge 120$ per account. I was aware of the $25 cancellation fee before 6 months, but where the other 95$ per account I have no idea. I only went to the gym once because of covid19 and my situation has changed.

My experience with VASA began well. Overall, the gym was good and both trainers I worked with were very good. However, when the COVID hit, the gym was closing, I sent an email requesting that my account be frozen. This was done. I made it clear that when the gym was open, AND I felt that it was safe for me to return, I would contact them to restart. However, a couple of months later, I discovered that VASA was charging me the monthly charges, as well as for trainer sessions that were never even scheduled. I contacted their service center to ask that the charges be reversed and that I would let them know when I was ready to return and reactivate. This they flat out refused to do. No discussion. Just a straight refusal. I had no idea that the gym had reopened and no at VASA had made any attempt to contact me in any way regarding my returning. They just decided on their own to start the charges again, with no thought as to what the circumstances were considering my health. Since I am one of their older clients, and fall in the category of “higher risk,” I told them that I was not ready to return. When I asked them, point blank, if they intended to charge me for 2 trainer sessions a month whether anything was ever even scheduled, their answer was simply, “Yes.” They told me that the charges would continue whether I was there or not, whether anything was even scheduled or not.
I stated that while I had every intention of returning when I felt safe doing so, I would be the one to make that determination, not them. They again stated that the charges would continue regardless. The fact that my health and safety were of little concern, especially given the current health crisis, and that they were so rude, unethical, and unprofessional in their dealings with me, made me determine that I could no longer continue with them. When I asked for my account to be cancelled, I was informed that they would not do it unless I paid them hundreds of dollars in “fees” because I had signed a “contract.” I found this interesting since at no time when I began with VASA was I ever shown a “contract,” and never was given anything in writing to read. What I signed was a line on an electronic pad as if I was buying groceries. That is all I ever saw. At the time, I had even told them that I would work with a trainer for 4 months and then reexamine my needs, which was the amount of time I was there before the gym closed. Somewhere, they decided that the sessions would continue as a permanent part of my “agreement,” and told me that the charges would continue twice a month. Since then, I have continued to receive emails telling me of the hundreds of dollars that I owe, a practice that has become blatant harassment. I finally had to put a block on my credit card to protect myself from such unethical billing practices.
I had contacted them in good faith to resolve the matter and had every intention of returning in the future. But their behavior was so rude, unprofessional and unethical, that it ruined my entire experience. They clearly stated that they would rather lose any future income from me as a client rather than work with me in resolving the matter. Even though there are very good trainers at VASA who truly care about their clients (I can’t say enough good about them.), I can never recommend the company because of the stunningly uncaring attitude of the “suits” in their business offices. I have read the endless complaints about VASA and their billing practices. One would think that the company would want to rethink the way they deal with their clients. They might actually retain them instead of losing them. I want the harassment to stop.

Vasa was misleading and charged me 70.00 plus the 3rd month. This was not agreed to when I signed up. I cancelled and was told that they have to charge me for another month plus after canceling?? One star because I have to pick one...

Vasa has HORRIBLE customer service. They my monthly was $48.00 and they took $71.00 when places started opening. I wasnt aware my account was even still valid cause of COVID. Vasa did not send an email and or notice to anyone letting them know that they will have to cancel if they dont want to get billed.... or whatever their procedure was going to be it would have been nice to get a notice instead of just taking money out of my account that wasnt there. I want even aware they were taking money out at all let alone $71.00. I called to cancel and get a refund. I was advised that I can cancel sense they just took $71.00 dollars from me but there will be no refund. I was very upset as this has put me in the negative and now I have an overdraft fee. My husband lost his job in these times we have two kids a mortgage, other bills and my income does not cover our basic living expenses let alone paying monthly for a gym membership and the gym has been closed for a half a year. I looked on my app and they did not actually cancel my account it still says they are going to bill me now $48.00 next month. Now I have been on hold for 2 hours, have emailed and have not had one response. it took me almost a week to get a call back from them the first time around. They have no problem taking money from you unauthorized but when they need to refund you, you cant get a hold of anyone. I have had nothing but bad experiences with Vasa, at many different locations over the years, this just tops it off! They are hands down the worst gym ever!!!! Most of their locations are DIRTY and never sanitized even before COVID. There staff is uneducated and very rude.

+1

Almost impossible to cancel your membership. Limited hours on both the phone lines and in the gyms themselves. They're making cancellations almost impossible during COVID19. Shame on you VASA.

VASA as a company is just bad. Their area management allowed a manager that was sexually harassing women to stay with the company. The only reason he was fired was because he did not preform well at his job. Not because of the other reasons.

I had my account frozen in March before the gym closed down. The website and App clearly states while my membership is paused no fees will be charged. They go ahead and charge me 71.98 and not only that while the gym is close, I attempt to cancel my membership and they don't respond. It appears they won't let you cancel so you have to continue to pay them while they don't provide any services to you and are closed.I have called several times and followed up with emails, they ask I continue to pay them. The billing department is terrible.I email them on 6/22 and I'm expected to hear back in 24 hours but hear back 7 days later. Leave them a voicemail to call back and still haven't heard back. They make it so hard for you to cancel or get a hold of them so the fees can continue to pile up. I have asked for the annual fee to be refunded several times and all I get is terrible customer service.I don't intend to continue any membership with this place if they continue to not treat people correctly.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Can't describe how upset I am right now. These people only care about making money, they do not care about you.
6 months ago I called to put my account on pause. I got it paused and about 2 months ago I called to cancel it permanently. I called several times and no answer. The answering machine told me to leave a voicemail with my information and they would cancel it for me, so I left a voicemail with all my info to cancel. Yesterday I got my yearly fee from them which is $70. I was not expecting that cause I thought they canceled for me so my account got over drafted and now I'm in debt. I called to see if I could get a refund since I have not been to the gym in over 7 months and they would not give it to me no matter how much I begged and asked.
Real awesome of you guys VASA. I hope you guys make a lot of money by cheating people.

Because of COVID-19 I haven't attended the gym for a few months, I had heard that my account would be frozen until I decided to begin attending the gym again. After receiving a job offer on June 17th I moved spontaneously to Washington state, far away from any branches of Vasa Fitness, and after a couple days of getting settled into our new place, I called Vasa to get my membership cancelled.
I had purchased a basic membership plan that was $12.85 per month, but was kept at a "guaranteed rate" by a "guaranteed rate fee" of $66.46 per year, which is billed automatically, without notice, every June. Unfortunately, I had been charged this big annual fee one day prior to my phone call to cancel my membership. I asked for a refund, due to my geographical inability to further attend their facility, but I was told that in order to avoid the "guaranteed rate fee" I would have needed to notify them 30 days before the fee was automatically applied, (May 25th). There was no way for me to anticipate our moving out of the state, nor was there any way to safely predict my gym attendance for the upcoming year because of COVID-19 effects. I was never notified (except I suppose in fine print in early membership agreements) that if I had poor timing in cancelling my membership that I would be at risk of losing $66.46 that is supposed to be paying toward the FOLLOWING 12 MONTHS of membership, the membership that I will not be able to use because I've moved. I called one day after they billed my bank account, hopeful to resolve the misunderstanding, but it was not resolved. The only resolution is that my membership is now cancelled, and they waived the monthly fee of $12.87 that I would've been obligated to pay for July.
I'd like a refund of my yearly fee. Because I am no longer a member of the gym the goods/services that the $66.46 went to pay for will not be able to be redeemed, and I believe that withholding that refund is unkind.

Liked the gym okay but their billing/customer service department is TERRIBLE. Beware if you decide to sign up with them!

My account was frozen I didn’t return to the gym but they started charging me again even when I didn’t return, I never used my membership so it got canceled but they still wanted to charge me for membership and cleaning fees.

I will never go to another VASA gym and I will tell everyone I know my story. I signed up on a month to month plan and was told that all I had to do was call customer service to cancel. I moved out of state and there is no VASA fitness where I moved. I called to cancel 4 different times (4 months in a row) and was subsequently charged each of those times. Because I moved it of state, the bank account they were pulling from did not have money in it, so it put me into overdraft each time . My bank refunded the fees each time because I had explained that I could not get them to stop charging my account. On the 4th phone call with VASA, I was told I needed to submit my cancellation in writing. I sent a letter to the corporate office and was charged again a 5th time. I ended up closing my bank account that I have had open for 15 years so that I would stop being charged, and then they sent me to collections and now I have a delinquent balance on my credit. The way that VASA handles business is criminal and it shows with the hundreds of negative reviews and complaints that have been filed with the Revdex.com for the same billing tactics they used on me. I am seeking legal respresentation to handle this matter because it is absolutely ridiculous and I never should have had to go through what I did for a supposed month to month membership that was “hassle free”. I have never had a negative mark on my credit and because of this, my entire life could be effected.
