Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Reviews (%countItem)

One of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. They change the rules to suit their bottom line with no concern whatsoever for those impacted. When my husband and myself decided to cancel, they allowed my husband to cancel both accounts without my permission. However, when I called to cancel my daughter's account they had to talk to her even though they were charging my card for the payment. The customer service representative refused to let me speak with a manager. To top it off they refused to cancel the membership unless I was willing to pay an extra $20. It didn't matter that we cannot even use the gym during the pandemic. Avoid this company at all costs. They do not care about their customers. I have dealt with poor customer service in the past, but quite honestly this might be the worst of the worst. Bravo Vasa, maybe you should take this time to rethink your business practices.

Vasa Fitness gym has been closed about a month due to the Kovid 19 and I just seen a $54 bill hit my credit card and when I called they said it was for the yearly maintenance. I said it's kind of strange to charge a yearly maintenance for a place that is no longer in business, granite it is a temporary closing but to be quite honest there is no guarantee that they will ever open up again so everybody needs to watch their accounts. I'm going to file all the complaints and all the reviews I can because what their doing is no different than gouging which is my understanding it disappointment time in our history due to virus and would be very illegal and if it is I'm going to find out and pursue a lawsuit

This gym looks good from the outside but the machines are always broken and the company is horrible to deal with. They are constantly charging fees when they aren’t supposed to and their billing department is just not on the same page as the rest of the company and the customer service does nothing to rectify. They closed for the covid-19 sent out emails saying they wouldn’t charge until they opened back up. But then still contained to charge. When I called they said they couldn’t refund because they aren’t doing refunds at this time(suspicious) and they will have to do a credit when they open back up. And they can’t do anything about the 57 rate guarantee because they need that to maintain the empty gym. Very poor communication with the company and customer service and just a bad company overall. Not worth the hassle

Staff - David specifically pick favorites and it shows when you come in. David always hangs around the gym floor snapchatting, working out with friends (while on the clock), plays basketball, and just tries to hide in corners of the facility to sit on his phone. If you're not one of his friends or basketball buddies don't expect him to say a word to you or to be willing to help you. Unfortunately without ever knowing David didn't apparently like me and without anything said to me by him, other staff or management my membership was suspended and the only way I learned of this was an email from corporate. No reasons ever stated, no call from the manager even though I have witnesses on his staff that I always say hello and goodbye to who always actively see me not only picking up after myself but after others. Sebastien the Sales Team lead hung up on me twice when I called trying to learn more about the suspension and evidence backing it. Overall the staff their is there to cash a check and take advantage of their authority.
Facility - Now I wish I could say the poor experiences with the staff were the only bad things but I can't. As shown in a photo the gym only looks clean from a distance. Look under absolutely anything and there are dust bunnies floating all over. This is what you're breathing in when you're working out all the dust all over in a facility that is not even a year old. Its truthfully saddening to see how poorly this place is treated. The facility was built quick and had a rushed opening and it is noticeable. The baseboards are peeling off the walls, the ceiling leaks from multiple places, the counter tops fall off the walls of the restroom. The bathrooms are always filthy with toilet paper all over the stalls and the floor and then when the cleaning service comes before close they spray water all over the locker room even if you're still in there so I don't recommend changing shoes or you'll end up with wet socks whether its a leak or you get covered in dirty mop/hose water. The facility doesn't seem to be designed to support a sauna because all the time it blows a fuse and has to be reset so if it went out when your about to use it well better be prepared to just hang around for awhile until it warms back up or just do not get a membership here if its for the sauna. The pool is constantly filthy its a 50/50 shot whether or not you'll be able to see the bottom of it on any day and its only 5ft deep.
Machines - Honestly the fact they have certain machines is a primary reason I signed up but look at them very closely. The weight racks and floors are disconnecting. None of the machinery is bolted down so it can also be pulled or fall on top of you (but you signed a waiver) and then the plate loaded machines are put together unprofessionally and there is an imbalance per side on almost every one.
Summary - Overall the staff will abuse their power and neglect their actual job, the facility is poorly made and constantly gross, and the machines are practically broken.

Auroral VASAFitness in Quincy
Very crowded, no enough parking, dirty

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • Mar 18, 2020

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for the over crowding. We do have peek hours that are busier then others, I can suggest another time. Can you tell me what is dirty? We want to make sure all of our VASA locations are clean for our members.

Same as what many others here are saying. They are deceptive with their fees and policies and will grind every penny out of you that they can. What they do is immoral to trick people with "month to month" memberships, then charge them outrageous fees to cancel. Like this "rate guarantee fee." If I'm canceling what rate are you guaranteeing. Vasa doesn't care about its customers and no one should ever go.

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • Mar 24, 2020

We apologize for the experience you have had with us. The Rate Guarantee Fee is part of our memberships and all members pay this fee yearly. I am sorry if this was not made clear during the point of sale. Feel free to contact member loyalty 801.426.8644 option 5 and we would be happy to look in to your account and see what we can do.

This fun has everything! Super nice, and unbeatable price. I think the complaints are from people who break their contracts?

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • Mar 18, 2020

Thank you Andrea for your feedback. We appreciate you.

Stay clear unless you are 100% committed. Local gym closed about two months ago and my membership was transferred to a local VASA. When I first went in, the person at the counter told me that while he did see my information, it showed as expired and that I would have to call the member line to get it fixed. Tried and knew it would lead in loops with customer service like most places so I decided to spend $10 to just reapply and forgoe the struggle. Turns out that $10 membership I want to cancel requires a $25 cancellation fee and a $50 rate guarantee fee even though I won't be attending this gym anymore. My local gym before just had a down payment at the start and I could cancel at any time afterwards with no fees or I could pay a higher monthly rate with no down payments or fees. Easiest way to lose $85 dollars as a part time student.

Went to the Westminster, CO Vasa. My three visits I was disgusted by how dirty the gym was then went to tan and walked out as the bed was disgusting. I then went to cancel my membership but the blonde at the front was to busy flirting to help me and multiple attempts to speak to the manager and they were never there. I finally figured out how to cancel my contract via online. Fast forward 6 months and I have a collection agency calling me for my 176.00 balance from Vasa! I was livid and again no manager to speak to and when I called customer service they said my contract was never cancelled and I owed it. I am still going rounds with them to now have a negative mark on my credit report from Vasa! I cannot get a customer service rep or manager to contact me they only want me to deal with the collection agency that keeps adding more and more money!! I highly suggest going to a different gym this place has horrible business and customer service practices.

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • Feb 26, 2020

Looking over your account we have agreed to pull the account for collections. One of our agents reached out via phone on 2/21. The balance would still be owed to us but once paid you will be removed from collections and this will no longer affect your credit. Please contact 801.426.8644 option 5.

I find it interesting that so many have had the same horrible experience with Vasa Fitness and their customer support. From day one, I started having problems with them when I signed up for a 76 month contract for a fitness trainer. I signed up for one day a week and each time I showed up, they told me the assigned trainer is on vacation, or there was some confusion as to who was assigned. This went on for the first three weeks of training. I should have picked up on the trend then, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. I did not want my weekly training taken out of my bank so I asked the manager if I could pay each week as I came in. Originally the manager was agreeable with that arrangement until I became a hinderance to his working out, then he wanted it to go thru my bank information on file. I relented. This is the beginning of the customer service problems because when it came the to cancel my 6 month contract, I made all the required phone calls and final payments. I could not even use the last five sessions I had to pay for because of my work schedule changing. I gave them to my trainer to give away to someone else. Apparently six months ago, about the time the manager no longer wanted to take my payments personally. They now tell me I owe them one more payment that was missed. I am furious with the incompetence of the entire system. So essentially I paid them for 6 individual training sessions I could not use. I complaind to the supervisor who told me there was nothing she could do except extend my month to month vasa membership by two months because I have now cancelled that as well. I explained that I will not be stepping foot in another vasa and that she can keep her two months. Im writing this to lend my voice to the hundreds of others with similar experiences. This is my first time ever writing a review because I do not normally handle issues this way, but If I can prevent event one person from a horrible experience.

I have had a membership with VASA Fitness. The yearly fee $50.00 for price guarantee was explained when I joined. I canceled my VASA membership recently and was told that I would have to give a 30 day notice and I would be charged for the 30 days. ( which I have no problem with.) But....The terms of cancellation on the membership is a 30 day notice, meaning once I let Vasa know I would like to cancel. Any payments set to draft within the next 30 days are still due. (That included the price guarantee fee ) Well they catch u with that. You think that just means your membership fee. Nope that’s all fees including the price guarantee. What price are they guaranteeing at this point since I’ve canceled. I contacted them and asked if they could please adjust it. They were unwilling to waive the fee “since a contract was signed”. It is a very poor policy and sad that this is how they treat their customers and one that would have possibly considered returning. Most definitely not this customer! I think their contract is very misleading and they cheat people out of their hard earned money just to make a few extra dollars. I hope it’s worth it!

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • Feb 17, 2020

I am sorry for your experience you have had with us. When canceling all payments that are set to draft in the next 30 days are owed, as you stated in your review. I apologize if this was not made clear to you at the time you signed up. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

Customer Response • Feb 19, 2020

I feel that I am truly being ripped off and would like to be refunded the “Rate Guarantee Fee”. I understand that you would take the payment of the last month owed. However, for you to draft what you call the Rate Guarantee Fee. Which if I am not mistaken, locks my rate so that I don’t have to pay more if your rates increase in the future. If that is the case and I am canceling my membership then what rate are you guaranteeing at this point? This is definitely not clear and very misleading!

My husband and I signed up for a "hassle free month to month membership" we used the gym one time and never returned now I'm in collections for 200+ dollars. This company uses false advertising to lure customers in and then uses the excuse its not the amount you use the gym if you dont cancel your membership you get charged no where does it state that. I will be contacting my lawyer also when I tries to cancel you tried to offer free time in the gym to try and get me to pay for something I didnt use. Shame on this company.

As I read many similar reviews here, I and convinced this branch is full of dishonest workers. I have been paying $80 personal training, plus $26 member fee. When I signed up in September of 2019 the rep that had convinced me had told me I could cancel and any given time, that was a lie! I decide to cancel a couple months later, I end up finding out it was a 6 month contract. I become instantly upset. I try to get a hold of the rep that signed me up... no luck. I call customer service in orem and opened a case explaining my situation. They email the branch to get both sides of the story and schedule a fallow up call. Later that week I decide to walk in the branch and find the manager. We sat down and spoke about it, He looked up my account and only saw what was in front of him... my signature. after that he muted anything I had to say and continued to say sorry I cant help you, you knew it was a contract. I step away and go home due to the fact his customer service was the worst. NEVER have I been treated as bad as the manager did. I decide to fallow up on my case since a call was never made. They look up my account and let me know the manager had wrote them back and stated I knew about the contract and admitted to signing up knowing it was a 6 month deal. The customer service rep apologized to me and takes side with the manager. They said they cant do anything because of the email, I am only able to get out if I find a Replacement customer plus pay a $100 transfer fee. My contract is due in April and I continue to make biweekly payments for training I don't receive. I travel further to a different location to work out, I would rather be around other people then they crew at this location. If you can avoid going to this location, DO IT.

I apologize for the experience you have had with VASA Fitness. We want all of our member's to have an uplifting experience. I have looked over your personal training contract and we are unable to cancel that. The terms of cancellation for a personal training agreement are either relocation or if you sell/transfer the contract to another member. Both require a $100.00 fee. If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out to member loyalty at 801.426.8644 option 5, we would be happy to help.

Obviously the one star consistent review should say a lot about their customer service. I called to cancel my membership, I spoke to Wayne which was quick, easy, and effortless. He verbatim told me that I would not get charged any further but yet I was charged the day after for next months membership. I called their customer service again and spoke to Liz F who simply said she couldn't do anything for me because I needed to cancel a month in advance, which I was not informed about the day prior. I asked her to read exactly what Wayne told me the day prior and word for word she read exactly what he told me about not getting charged. My problem here is you shouldn't tell clients one thing, guaranteeing them that there will be no further charges but then go and charge their account. Liz, quite honestly, didn't even know what to tell me besides sorry. I also asked multiple times for this confirmation to be emailed to me and here we are, no email. Maybe customer service needs to be retrained on their policy so that I'm not getting different answers from each representative I speak to.

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • Jan 15, 2020

I apologize if the terms of cancellation were not explained to you. The terms of cancellation on our memberships is a 30 day notice, meaning once you let us know you would like to cancel any payments set to draft within the next 30 days are still due. We will make sure moving forwards our terms and policy is explained to all members. If you any further questions please feel free to reach out to member loyalty at 801.4263.8644 option 5.

I went to the opening to VASA in south OKC. I got invited to join the the personal training but was never told it was a contract that could not cancel. I tried to cancel because I’ve never used it. I can not afford it with 4 kids and now being a single mom. So I called and tried to cancel and that is where I learned that I could not get out of the contract. I was surprised and disappointed given that one I can’t afford it and now the bill is racking up. This situation was so misleading.

This place has a very deceiving contract. They told me that it would only cost 25 dollars to cancel my membership when I signed up. But it ended up costing $122. Very displeased with all the extra fees that up which are unnecessary. During my tour the salesman was very deceiving as he never mentioned that there is a "Rate Guarantee Fee". I get that he was trying to bring more customers but it is not fair to the young men and women who wants to try a new gym. Total rip off when it comes to cancellations.
This is the breakdown of the money they charged for canceling:
Gym Membership = $26.33
Rate Guarantee Fee = $53.74
Cancel Fee = $25
Guest Privileges = $17.19
TOTAL = $122.26
My membership was "Fitness" status.

DURING THE TOUR THEY WILL SAY CANCELLATION FEE IS $25 BUT AS YOU CAN SEE ITS NOT.

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • Jan 02, 2020

We would be happy to refund you the yearly fee of $53.74 as a courtesy. I do see you were with us such a short time so I completely get your frustration. We hope this helps, and leaves you having a better experience with VASA. We will process the refund the billing provided on your account. Let us know if we can do anything else for you. Feel free to reach out to member loyalty 801.426.8644 opt 5 with any questions.

I signed up for the Vasa personal training under false pretenses. I was told I could freeze the account at any point when I told the gentleman helping me I didn't know if I could afford it. He specifically said I would loose the deal they were offering if I didn't sign up and that I could freeze it later down the road if need be. I was not informed I was signing a contract or that there was only three ways to get out of it, medical, moving, or injury. I have only been twice in a month do to my trainers cancelations and tried to call to cancel and got the same scripted conversation each time. I am unhappy with how it was processed and the services I am receiving. I have never been so disappointed in a business and I have never dealt with such a deceatful corporation. I pay 80 dollars biweekly plus 49.99 a month for the regular membership. I can't get out of it and if I would've known all of these terms and regulations up front, I never would have signed anything.

I signed up for personal training, I was told I would be contacted to set up a schedule. That never happened. I waited thinking everyone needs a little time, sometimes people forget things but yet no one ever contacted me. I got charged for personal training that I never did. I finally called to cancel because why would I continue to pay for something that is never going to happen. I was told that I had 2 options to move 25 miles or more away or to find someone else to give my contact to and pay 100$......so pay to have someone else take my spot? That was it, no other help or options, just that. So I emailed the customer service email to maybe get a little help. I didn’t want to cancel my whole membership, just my personal training (again because it never happened) I was told all the same stuff and “to contact us with any other questions you may have” and that someone from my vasa location would be contacting me. Well 2 weeks later and not a word from anyone. So I email again saying I was never contacted and that I would please just like to cancel the personal training. All of the sudden I get a call, I could answer at the exact moment so I called back and the girl on the line said “yea so and so did call you” I told her yea but I’m not sure exactly what for and that I was just calling back. She was confused I was confused and no one knew what was going on. She proceeded to tell me the same stuff I was told before and that was it. No help, no options, NOTHING. No one ever told me I could get out of my contact and or that it would be like pulling teeth to just get away from this place. I simply just want to cancel my personal training since STILL no one had contacted me. I told the girl in the email that I was going to contact my lawyer and see what I ca ln do and she told me that “I have that right and to contact them if I had any other questions”. ANY QUESTIONS OR HELP IVE ASKED FOR HAS BEEN ANSWERED WITH THE SAME ROBOT RESPONSES! I find it very odd that there is NOOO way for me to cancel and that I’m just stuck paying for something that’s not being used. Like there’s not even a cancellation fee or anything. It’s just pay for someone else to use your spot or move. That’s it. No one had been helpful and it’s like asking for their first born just to get someone to get ahold of me. I just want to cancel!

On Oct. 8th I signed up for a membership at $9.99 a month for the Vasa Fitness gym on Grant and Alvernon in Tucson, AZ. The gym wouldn't open until Oct. 26th and so there was very few equipment inside. I have a knee and hip disability so was assured that the recumbent bikes (the only bikes I can use) would be fine.
On Oct. 26th I visited the now opened gym for the first time and found to my extreme disappointment that I could not use the recumbent bikes they installed, which was the sole reason I joined.
I wrote to customer service IMMEDIATELY to cancel my membership and to my amazement I was charged the amount of $47.49 being a $25.00 cancellation fee and monthly membership of $22.49, which is highway robbery. Vasa guarantees membership fee cancellation month to month but then they screw the member if he/she leaves before six months with a "penalty" fee of $25. One of the reasons I thought to join this gym was so that I could leave after 4 or 5 months when I move and with no impunity. Obviously this is not the case.
I would strongly insist to anyone looking to join this gym to stay as far away as possible. They have shoddy and false membership and business rules and they will overcharge at the slightest chance. Please turn to *** instead, which I should have done to begin with.
I rue the day I drove by and was taken in by their alleged new member fees, all which turned out to be false and misleading.
