Due to the coronavirus they have been closed, and even though they just opened, they are open at a limited capacity. Due to this, my family decided to cancel. When we started this program, we were told that there would not be a cancellation fee after we were members for 6 months. We have now been members for over a year and a half, and when I went to cancel, they charged me $19.99 a person to cancel. I wrote them an email explaining all this, and all I got back was a reply on how to cancel and that you have to give a 30 day notice to cancel, which is why they charged the $19.99 each. This does not make sense when they have not been open and were not charging us because they weren't open. Furthermore, they have only been open for 3 days now, and are no longer offering all the amenities that I originally agreed to, so they should not be charging for something they cannot supply. BEWARE!!! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS GYM, THEIR MEMBERSHIP IS NOT WHAT THEY SAY IT IS.

Vasa Fitness Corporate Offices and Paramount Billing are terrible. Their customer service is non existent. I have tried to deal with a billing issue for the last two weeks. I have called the corporate offices and Paramount last week and three days this week. I have been on hold for over an hour each time and then entered the queue for a call back, no response. I have left voice mails and sent emails, all to no avail. I canceled my membership on February 25th and received email notification of the cancellation. . In April, I was billed 53.71 X 3 and in May 53.69 for a total 214.82. I even called the gym where we purchased our short term membership, at least I finally was able to speak to a human being. Although they tried to be helpful, they could not resolve the issue or offer a refund, they too were at the mercy of sending an email to the corporate offices in hopes that they will get back to them to resolve the issue and/or plea with the office to contact them or me to find a resolution to this issue. I have contacted my bank to stop payment on any future attempts to extort money from me. I am a very positive person but they have plucked my last nerve. I realize the pandemic has caused staffing issues , this is beyond ridiculous. I do not know how Vasa Fitness has existed with such poor management. S

Web site doesn’t work, they don’t answer the phone or call you back, the only way I was able to cancel my membership was to cancel my card at the bank. Recommend everyone stay away from these scammers.

I suffered a stroke during this pandemic, I have not used the gym in due to doctors orders. I read their cancellation policy and see if in the first 6 months their us additional fee so I wait two months only to find a have to pay to cancel anyways. Seems like Vasa is a bunch of thugs who doesn't want to do respectable business. I will NEVER use VASA again and will always have a bad taste in my mouth if their name comes up.
Also, their staff was filthy mouthed individuals who could not go 4 words without throwing the F-Bomb... Vasa would get 0 stars if I could...

Very disappointed with Vasa. Ever since they reopened from Civil, my wife and I have not been able to go and work out, due to it always being at capacity. We work full time, so are limited on when we can go. Even though we cant go, they have now billed us twice on monthly premiums. We decided to cancel, but because we were two days into the next month after being billed, we had to pay for the full month to cancel, meaning we had to pay two monthly premiums within two days of each other. So we have now paid three monthly premiums since they reopened, and have not been inside the facility since March 2nd of this year and they would not even discuss any other option. Just wanted to let everyone know what to expect from Vasa, business first, customer second.

I signed up for a VASA membership less than a week before they closed indefinitely. So basically I have been able to use their establishment 1 time and yet they charged my over $80 for an annual fee and a monthly charge when their gym hasn't even been open for a month. And to cancel they want my to pay an additional month charge when covid has hit all of us and I don't have a job to pay for it and I was already kicked out of my living situation. I also don't feel safe going because of all the events going on recently and it only takes one person not taking safety precautions to spread it to everyone else and I'm not going to risk catching the virus because I had to go to the gym that won't let me cancel my membership right now. Dealing with them has been frustrating and this seems to be the norm. I want a refund but if it comes to it, I'll just pay the full amount and never use VASA as my gym again.

Vasa allowed a 15 year old girl sign up without a parent. They allow her to be committed to a payment plan with $ she didn’t have. My biggest concern is her being 16 now and alone around 50 yr old men. Creepy. They allow her to go tanning with no parental permission. Fine. What happens if she gets hurt or we realize she has cancer? Who is liable? I tried to cancel her membership. They won’t cancel. I’m beyond livid. Why? This means no one cares what your kids sign up for, as long as they can take their money. Stop Vasa from allowing teens to sign up- or have fun paying on it the rest of your life. Their policy is “no kids under 18 without a parents approval “. Wrong. Liars. They are total jack a***.

Filled out the dorm on the website to cancel a few months ago, apparently that doesn't do anything because after looking in my spam filter I found that they have continued billing me for several months. System is now admitting that it won't allow me to cancel and I can't get anyone on the line. Sent an email we'll see if they actually cancel it. The amount has gone past what I can afford to pay in one go but I will be happy to pay it at this point to be rid of these scammers.

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • May 19, 2020

We are sorry to hear about that. If you can send us the original cancel request we would be happy to help and get your membership canceled. Please reach out to [email protected] or give us a call at 801.426.8644 option 5.

How on earth are you charging customers to cancel when you're not even open? People are losing their jobs left and right! I am very disappointed in your terrible business practices. Once I get another job I will not be returning to your gym.

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • May 08, 2020

We understand everyone is going through a difficult but our cancel terms still do apply. However I would be happy to review your account and see what I can help with.

This gym is terrible. It is cramped and smelly. There are not enough weight lifting machines or benches to go around. The gym is constantly packed and there is little room to move around. They have closed for the COVID crisis, and they wouldn't let me suspend my membership due to this. The only thing I could do was pay a $25 cancel fee and they charged me $25 for an additional month of the service even though they suspended my card immediately. It ended up costing over $70 for me to cancel. My fiance also had a membership here and had the same experience trying to cancel except she got charged over $80. The experience with VASA has been absolutely terrible. From the beginning I have had to fight charge after charge because they seem to continue to over charge at every chance they get. They don't have anyone at the facility that can explain why the billing mistakes are happening or to help you cancel your membership. This gym is a SCAM. DO NOT USE THIS GYM

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • May 08, 2020

We sincerely apologize for your experience. I have reviewed your account and all fees you paid were owed at the time of cancellation. I am sorry if you feel you were over charged. I would happy to review your account with you and answer any questions you have. Please reach out to [email protected] with further questions.

I called in to cancel my son and I's account because my wife is high risk for Covid and I cannot return the gym for some time to keep her safe. I was told I STILL had to pay cancellation fees $70 for total for both accounts. This companies fees etc are ridiculous . I will never go to their gym ever again and will tell everyone to do the same.

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • May 08, 2020

I apologize for your experience. The terms of cancellation on our memberships is a 30 day notice, meaning once you let us know you would like to cancel any payments set to draft within the next 30 days are still due. There is also a $25.00 cancellation fee if cancelling within the first 6 months of the membership. I understand we are all on hard times right now. As a resolve we will refund all cancel fee charges on your account. Please reach out to [email protected] to processed with your refund.

I went to cancel our family's membership since we will be waiting a fairly long period to return due family immune-compromised health risks.
We liked Vasa, but despite our gym being closed for the next few additional months (according to the account rep) we will still be charged for a full month of services ($92.84), that we'd not only NOT want to use but literally CAN'T use because they are completely closed. There was a point I wanted to come back to Vasa once it was safe for my children again, but based on this petty penny pinching awful customer experience, that definitely won't be happening.
I wish VASA cared a little more about their clients and a whole lot less about squeezing every penny out of families in a deadly situation.

Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Response • May 14, 2020

We hope you were able to resolve this situation, I do see you were refunded. We apologize your canceling experience was frustrating. Please let us know if we can do anything else.

Stay safe and healthy.

I understand that everyone is struggling during this Pandemic including small and large business. However, I do not think it's fair that VASA is charging a full annual fee during this time. I would agree if they divide the $53 annual fee by 12 and charge only the months that I can actually use the gym. Plus we want to cancel the membership you will charge me a cancelation fee. I saw that their response to the reviews is that they froze memberships so we're not charged the monthly payment (we all appreciate your willing kindness), but that they kept the annual fee so they are able to maintain the gym. My question is: Are you still paying the employees that you had to let go so they can maintain themselves?
Charge us only when we can use the gym! We are all suffering the consequences of this pandemic. I also had a membership to a Martial arts gym which I had a contract for until December ($150/month) and they stopped all my monthly payments at no cost. And they are a small family gym. The memberships were their only income, but they kept their honestly and common sense, and are not taking advantage of their clients.
How is it legal for you to charge for a service that you CANNOT provide?

You want to have your hard earned money taken from you when you can’t use the services and were told that you wouldn’t be charged... then Vasa Fitness is your gym! I was told by a Vasa representative to put my services on pause in order to avoid ANY FEES, which I did... come to find out weeks after the fact, Vasa comes out to say there was a miscommunication on THEIR end and we would still be charged the annual fee FOR SERVICES WE CAN NOT USE! I called and spoke to another representative to get my money back and she said no refunds are allowed. I emailed the management team only to get a response a week later saying sorry for the miscommunication but they were thankful for us understanding that no refunds would be given. People are struggling to pay their mortgage and this company is only too happy to take money that’s not theirs! I was going to return to them after everything settled, but this company has robbed me of the last of my money they are ever going to get! Seeing as I’m not the only one they have robbed, I hope they receive the same treatment that they’ve given their members that have been with them for years!

I was charged $53.09 for the "rate guarantee" fee even though my account was frozen. It is totally unfair to be charged for a product I am unable to use. I sympathize with the fact that the gyms need some revenue to continue through these unprecedented times. However, I am not in a financial position to be paying for products I cannot use. I have seen other posts regarding this charge on this site, and all have some copy and paste response explaining how it's essentially what must be done to keep the gyms afloat. This is ethically a questionable move from the part of Vasa; to charge people even though their account and billing has been frozen. I would like to see my money back, but when I spoke to their third party customer service contractor, I was informed that I was very much not the only person charged and unhappy about it and the company's position is "tough luck."

Tried canceling my membership via the web portal because I’m moving but they want to charge me for the next 30 days even though the gym is closed indefinitely.
Talked to their support, they told me to wait for the gym to open again so they can bill me and I can submit my cancellation.
I’ll be placing a block in any further charges from this corrupt establishment.

I tried to cancel my Vasa Gym membership because both of my jobs furloughed me due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So like a lot of people, I am struggling to keep my bills up to date.
As it turns out, the club has not been able to process my monthly installments since December. Not one time have I received an email or a letter informing me about this.
When I tried to contact the club, all they were concerned about was receiving their money before I can cancel my membership. I emailed them several times to see if anyone would reach out with a hand of sympathy concerning this Coronavirus situation, but nothing. I received responses from Kylie, Madison, and Rachel P, only to hear that I need to pay the bill or I will get sent to collections. I will even quote the snotty last remark on Kylie's message, "Please let us know if you have any further questions, have a wonderful day!"
How is this company ok with this???? Not only are their clubs not safe (the reason for quitting my regular attendance at this gym; The front desk people too busy talking and having fun to notice an absolute drunk that went in and started with aggressive gestures and aggressive physical threats towards members of the gym, including myself), they don't even reach out with a simple email to let you know that your bank card is not being processed for 5 months, now I see that their customer service, especially during this pandemic is absolute garbage.
Save your money, go somewhere else where your business is appreciated. 3 years of membership that I wish I would have given my business to a company that appreciated my business.

Terrible Place! During the COVID-19 shutdown, I lost my job, I cannot pay my rent, utilities, phone, and can't even pay for food myself and family. For over a month now I have not been able to use the gym and services they provided due to the government shutdown. When things like this happen any normal person the first thing they will do is turn off or cancel services that they can't use. The first priority of any person should be to first feed their families and pay the bills that keep a roof over their heads. Well, this company seems to think that they should come first before anyone else, before family, be even the individual. This is what I call company greed and the lack of care for people especially during times such as these. I was nice enough to contact them and make them aware of my situation. I am losing my place where I live. I cannot pay rent, can't pay utilities, phone, etc. Because of this, I am forced to move out of state where there is no Vasa Fitness. I requested to cancel my account, and when I did so I was flooded with emails from them telling me that I am required to still pay. I am being asked to pay monthly dues and cancellation fees. When I explained to them my reason and issues. I was again sent a second email stating that I have to pay and they attached terms of agreement form. On the terms of agreement, there is nothing that talks about government shutdown issues. I also was never given a physical form to read before me signing up. If anyone else is experiencing this problem I am going to file a report with Revdex.com, report them to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct officials, and I will open up a lawsuit that will require them to pay for all of the filings, damages that I am pursuing, and any additional fees. If anyone else wants to come in on this please contact me.
Terrible Place!

I have had a membership since last summer. I lost my job in December and ended up homeless. I have asked numerous times to cancel my membership. Meanwhile they have continued to charge my bank - which there is no money in - so I’m hit with a charge. They have continued to charge me and now my bill is over 154.00. They tell me I have to pay the account before they cancel meanwhile continuing to charge me. I am homeless so there is no way I will be able to pay the charge. I don’t understand why they just can’t suspend or freeze the account until I can pay. Adding charges on is not going to make it any easier on me. I am up to 4 requests with them.

Been a loyal customer for years, I'm also a Veteran and First Responder. I was confused when I found a charge on my account mid April. Called and found out it was the annual service guarantee fee?! I called customer support, certain it was an error that could be quickly fixed. They told me they were still charging this fee. I confirmed I was paying for the upcoming year to guarantee my monthly membership...that was frozen...with no indication when services may resume. They said yes. I asked them to cancel my membership. They refused unless I paid early termination fees? Are you kidding me!?!? So disappointed in these guys. So many businesses are doing the right things right now, really disappointing to see Vasa going a different direction. Stay far away from these guys!!!
