Vasa Fitness (All Utah Locations) Reviews (%countItem)

My husband and I signed up for an account each using the same checking account to pay for both memberships. Apparently my membership has unsuccessfully been charged this entire time but my husbands is fine with no problems. I’ve been going to the gym for almost a year and today tried to buy an energy drink using my account only to be told that my account was blocked and had been in collections since April! This entire time I’ve been Checking in with MY account and not being denied entry once or informed that my account is delinquent! After speaking with their collections department supervisor, I was repeatable ignored and recited “we can take payment by...” when I repeatably told him I wasn’t paying anything until they could figure out why my auto pay on my account wasn’t working but my husbands was? He had no answer and told me that they have called my husband multiple times. My husband called them back after being told there was an issue with the account a few months ago but was told everything was fine. I have emails from a third party that I’ve just now been informed is vasa however it says nothing of what it’s for and when you click the link it says “invalid account information” making it look like scam/spam mail. The supervisor told me they had called two days ago on the 25th but there is NO RECORD of this phone call on our statements! After this I was rudely hung up on. The supervisor kept asking me to be professional during the conversation and I stated I was and I had not said any profanities and it’s not my fault he was disregarding my questions and answering Robotically with company policies about how everything is my fault. Why would they let someone consistently check in for almost a YEAR with a delinquent account? Not to mention the collections from April, we haven’t seen on our credit or received a single document about this!!!!!

My wife and I joined Vasa ot Kaysville March of 2019. At that time we were sold on the benefits a personal trainer could have on our back problems. The cost for the trainer would be $80 each per month, two month minimum. We both went to the same trainer for three sessions. Unfortunately, by the third session it became apparient the sessions were doing more harm than good. We both had such painful back results that we told the trainer, we were sorry but we could not continue. Since then my wife has had very major back surgery affecting the entire lumbar spine. My back was helped with spinal injections.
When we quit in March, we were told we could put our sessions on a freeze until September. September before the time was up my wife called Vasa to see if a physical therapist was available to continue to help. She was informed that there were no physical therapists available, so my wife told them to cancel any personal trainers, we would not continue. We found the trainers have a very minimal training that doesn't come close to treating people with back problems.
Now in October we are informed we owe not only for the second month's trainer, of another $160, but $50 late fees.
Talking to representatives at the facility and the Member Loyalty resulted in the cancelation of the late fees. I am greatful for that, however, given the history of the wrong training sessions, the verble canelation to the trainer and the phone cancelation in September, that were ignored, I feel Vasa is strictly a money making program with little real concern for the patrons. My advise to all members or potential members is to beware. They will try to sell programs with lots of fine print that will lock you into much more than suspected. Look at all the other reviews.
I'm sorry, but I find Vasa appears to be a typical fitness center, with the addition of many money making skeems that can hurt you.

Hi ***,
Thank you for this feedback. We value your opinion and strive to better here at VASA Fitness. I see that you have talked to our Personal Training specialist and they have cancelled the Personal Training with no further billing, waiving the cancellation terms. If you have further questions, or feel a different resolve is needed, please contact us at 801-426-8644, option 5.

On August 5th, 2019 I signed up my mom and myself for a monthly fee of $23.86ea at the Tulsa, OK location. The rep who helped with the process never explained that there would be a charge to keep this rate. Due to work I was not able to visit the gym and my mom ran into health issues which also kept her from going (which is not VASA's fault). But I think its very unprofessional to tell YOUR customers that there is no contract, or fail to inform that you will be changed to keep your monthly fixed rate.

I called the location yesterday about cancelling my membership due to personal problems and my mom's health issues and the manager was no help. Basically said that she wasn't sure why the VASA rep didn't tell me about the "fixed rate" charge. My feedback to VASA is not positive. Please ask your employees to relay important information as "fixed rate fees" so that customers don't get upset when these random fees that were never explained to begin with come up. Extremely upset about the whole situation.

The whole time I was on the phone with the manager, she said its normal for gyms to do this. As a customer, I think and believe that it's also normal to communicate this information upfront.

I became a member of Vasa Fitness about 2 years ago. My member ship lasted a few month til I had to leave Colorado abruptly and move to Florida due to personal issues. I had called the Vasa Fitness to cancel my account and they stated that I would HAVE to come in person to cancel my acct. Since I was in Florida and had no way to go in in person, I sent an email to the Vasa Fitness customer service to which I stated I would like for someone to call me. I got an email back stating that someone would call me. I waited for a call and even gave a good time for which they can call me back. I never got a call back. I called again to try to get a hold of someone and was told by the woman on the phone that they would go ahead and cancel my account. Months down the road, my card began getting charged again for the membership...so I called again, never got refunded, then the man this time told me that HE would go ahead and cancel my account...which should have been cancelled the first time. About a year later, yesterday I got a notification that there was money in my collections from Vasa fitness. I'm done with it! VASA FITNESS HAS A TERRIBLE SYSTEM AND IS BASICALLY STEALING MONEY FROM ITS UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS!!!

Hi ***,
Thank you for this feedback. I apologize this has been your experience with VASA Fitness. I see that your account has been written off to a collection agency as of 6/1/2019, and we have contacted you multiple times regarding this. Unfortunately we no longer handle this account. If you'd like to discuss this, please contact us at 801-426-8644, option 5/. We'd love to resolve the situation.

I signed up a year ago with personal training. I was too busy to go to my training sessions. I tried to cancel but was told I had to pay the sessions completely upfront. Which is completely my fault so I finished the sessions and then continued to call to make sure I was able to cancel with no problems. I called 3 months in a row to try and cancel. I had finished my sessions and then was charged again for another session. I called and had to argue for an hour to get this issue resolved because I had already tried to cancel 3 months in a row so this wouldn’t happen. I finally got my money back after being escalated twice. I chose to stay and do month to month. Now when I joined I paid 50$ for a LIFETIME price guarantee . Now I am being told I must pay this every year. Might I add I was told I only had to pay this once. I just hit my 1 year and now they want another 50$. I agreed to a 1-time fee as the gym had told me otherwise I wouldn’t have signed up for this. Now they won’t remove it from my account. I was not notified by email except 4-days before the bill was due of this extra fee. They have poor customer service and they’re representatives lie to get you to sign.

Hi ***,
Thanks for reaching out to VASA Fitness. I'm sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience at VASA Fitness. I see that on 8/7/2018 you signed up for a 6 month Personal Training contract. It looks like that contract of 13 payments has been fulfilled and it is no longer apart of your billing. If you'd like to speak to us more about this, please contact us at 801-426-8644, option 5. I'd love to have our Member Loyalty team resolve this!

I tried hold my membership by following the instructions on the website, which popped up an email, I emailed and got no response.I received another bill today, with late fee and cancellation fee. I wanted to hold my account only. I called and the agent was unwilling to listen and said I needed to cancel, and pay $25. I already paid the $49 lifetime guaranty for the $9.99/month membership. I simply wanted to hold for a few months, while I am in school and we can use the schools facility. I can see why all my friends are leaving VASA. You don't retain business by treating clients poorly.

Hi ***,
I am so sorry to hear that this has been your experience with VASA Fitness. We'd love to make this right. Could you please contact us at 801-426-8644, option 5 to speak to our Member Loyalty department? We'd love to resolve this as soon as possible!

I signed up for a membership with one on one training. Never got one on one. They always put me in a group which I was uncomfortable with so I stopped going. I wanted to keep the basic membership only. I hadn't paid for a few months and wanted to cancel. They said I couldn't cancel until I was paid in full. Meanwhile I was charged the gym membership and the training every month but not allowed to go to the gym because of my past due balance. I wanted to pay what I owed but I wanted them to stop charging me so that I could. Unethical billing practices.

Hi ***,
I apologize this has been your experience with VASA Fitness. I see that your account was created 8/13/2017 and was written off to a collection agency on 5/1/2018 after months of unpaid dues. We called and emailed regarding the past due amount. In March of 2018 we set up a Payment plan with you to pay off the current balance of $585.00. However the payments were never made and the account was written off. Please contact Aldous and Associates at 801-272-5281.

Signed up for VASA and went with a trainer for a few months because I thought it’d be a good option. Upon signing up they did mention a cancellation fee but they DID NOT mention that I would be on a contract with the trainer, when I tried to cancel they said yep, you’re good to go, sorry to see you leave, just to see that they keep trying to charge every 2 weeks. When I asked why they told me that I was on a contract and that I can not do anything about it unless I sell my contact on Craigslist/KSL/ Etc. Total *** and if I’d have known I’d be locked in by a contract I’d have never signed up in the first place.

Hi ***,
Thank you for this feedback. We appreciate our member's input and strive to do better. I do see that we have advised of the terms of cancellation on our Personal training contracts, which are relocation or if you sell/transfer the contract. Normally there is $100.00 fee for either of these terms of cancellation, however as a resolve we would be happy to waive this. Please email [email protected] if you have any further questions or concerns.

Vasa fitness is a scam. This company has taken $880 from me. I signed up for their month 2 month personal training at there highest package of $120 every 2 weeks. Which I agreed with. I was going to training and enjoying the service. My job needed me to switch from day to nights. At one of my sessions I told my trainer that I would be canceling because of this. At which point my trainer tried to get me to sign up to do training with him outside of vasa for more money then I was paying but said I would get longer workouts with him. Better food advice, with meal planing telling me exactly what to eat. Which I though food advice was part of the deal but I never got anything on that. After that I was uncomfortable going to personal Training but I did feel I could change because he told me to not tell anyone that he offerd me anything. So I ended up going in on weekend when my trainer was really never in. I talk to the guy that signed me up because. He said when I signed up that. If I wanred to cancel they can change me down to the base package of $80 every 2 weeks and then cancel it with in a month. I talk to him stating that this is what I wanted to do. Before I even went in to talk to him I call and left a message that this is what I wanted. So after going in he said ok and told me that the main office was closed that day but took down my bank account information and my gym info on a sticky note. And told me that they have been busy but he will get it put in. So I wait check my bank account and see its change down to the $80 bucks. I say ok that taken care of and belive that im go to go add in 30 day I wont be charge. Last week I was tight on money for the frist time in a long time and my bank account got overdrawn. I check and it was an $80 charge from vasa for the PT. I called them and tell them what has happened. They tell me ok we have cancel the PT immediately and will check about a refund. They said we will get back to you by the end of the week. The end of the week goes bu no call. So on Tuesday I called them. I sat in the phone system and selected to leave a VM to have someine call me. I do this again wendsday. I had not hear from anyone by friday and I dont work friday so I call them. They tell me they didnt get my VMs. And then tell me that the guy that help me sign up and moved down and cancel says that we never talk about canceling it which is a lie. And they are keeping the 11 payments of $80 buck they have charge me base of there guy saying we never talked about canceling. This company has take $880 from me and ls taking the work of a worker who if he did tell the truth would probably get fired or reprimanded . And expect him to be telling the truth. They didnt even offer any refund. It not like im asking them to refund money for a service I used. I havent even been back in the gym since the day I canceled that. This company is all about getting money from you not about your well being . They dont care about you at all. Save you money and find a better gym that care for customer. PS dont ever work woth cole with vasa he will lie to save himself. His name is on a couple of complants here on this site. But im not telling the truth.

Hi ***,
Thanks for reaching out. I see that you have spoken with our Personal Training specialists Emily and Kylie in our Member Loyalty department. We try and make all cancellations swift and easy and I apologize this hasn't been the case for you. The terms of cancellation on our Personal Training is a 30 day notice, meaning once you let us know you'd like to cancel any payments set to draft within the next 30 days are still due. However we had no prior request to cancel before you called into our cancellation line. As a resolve we will refund the last 2 $80.00 payment. We do need you to verify your billing address to send that refund check to. Please email [email protected] your current address and we can submit the refund check.

Let me say first, I never go out of my way to review places unless it's important. I was targeted by a staff member who went out of her way to make my otherwise fine experience at this gym HORRIBLE. I don't know if it's a jealousy thing, or she's just unprofessional. The corporate office actually told me they would deal with her, that she was out of line and her behavior was not okay, after I complained. They didn't do that. After I complained she used other employees and would have them hassle me until I quit the gym. Ultimately the corporate office refused to take responsibility for backing their members or mistakes and sent me a membership cancellation confirmation with a message to have a nice day.

The customer IS only a dollar sign here. Don't be fooled by the word member.

Disgusting staff. Horrible corrupt greed corporation.
