Weather Crafters Reviews (100)

A couple of months ago, we had Weather Crafters install a central air unit that works with gas heatThey may be good at installing a basic central air unit (they installed one at my rental property a couple of month's ago as well and I've received no complaints from the renter) but they appear to know little about installing a unit that is connected to gas heatAs well, we were told by the sales rep that their system would work with our existing *** thermostat (we were willing to buy their thermostat if it was going to be an issue), and that they connect with *** a lotThe first technician could not get the system to recognize the *** unit, so he hot wired it and told us to get another Weather Crafters technician out to fix it the following week (it was late in the evening)The 2nd technician came out and indicated that it was not wired correctly by the original crewThe issue with connecting to *** appeared to be fixed when the guy was here but when he left, later that day I tried to control the temp with my phone and it would not workI then went to the *** unit to set the control and it was not workingCalled Weather Crafters again and another technician came out and said that yet again the last technician wired it incorrectlyThat's technicians that wired the unit incorrectlyBut this technician still could not get it to work, so re-hot wired it and said there was nothing more they could doWe had to contact *** ourselves to get input regarding why the system was not registering with the *** unitWe fixed the issue ourselves but need Weather Crafters to fix the wiring underneath the house so that it is not hot wired, which they will not do without a service feePlease note: Weather Crafters' website indicates they are "*** certified," which is not at all trueTheir technicians even admitted they are not *** certifiedWe now have a lot of water build up underneath the house, and condensation on our registry units, so just called to get a technician out to fix thatAgain, this unit was installed a couple of months agoI would not recommend Weather Crafters for installs with gas heat nor *** units

I am writing today to complain about the poor service I received from the company ARS/*** *** ** ***I trust this is not the way a company wishes to conduct business with valued customersi have never encountered such bad service before This company installed my HVAC system last JuneFrom day I am having issues one after the anotherStill those issues are not fixedCalled for serviceThey are giving a window time from 9-I never heard of this long-time span to schedule service callWhat am I supposed to do? sit at home skip my work and a day pay for these crooks terrible job, poor workmanship, rude, no work ethic, no integrity, don’t keep up the appointmentsNo words to express frustration stress I am going throughTill now no cares and no one calls from the company to take care the messy job they didI am annoyed that I wasted my money for this cheap product from this company which gives me trouble from day
I was humiliated and incredibly angered by

A company is only as good as its employees Well, Service Pro Chris Ais one of the best HVAC techs I have interacted with in my years as a HVAC customer He arrived on time, listened carefully to my background information, problem symptoms, and promptly diagnosed & solved my problem In my case, it was loose screws holding aluminum wires in the circuit breaker due to wide temperature fluctuationsChris Aalso examined my air handler in the attic and tightened other screws connected to the Disconnect via Aluminum wires This attention to detail would prevent a future service callHe stated that this type of problem occurred approximately - times per year on all of his service calls during his years of HVAC experience Chris Aalso patiently listened to all of my questions and explained them in detail In summary, Chris A is tremendously knowledgeable, extremely thorough, and an excellent communicator In other words, an All-Pro In future service calls, I will be asking specifically for his expertise

I called *** *** to use thier contractors to install a HVAC system, they hired ( Weather Crafters) this company to install a HVAC system in May 2015, I paid a total of $19,500, and with it I purchased a year labor and part warranty which covered the entire system and everything the system needed to operateSince than I have had issues with the system and Weather crafters came out and fixed it, because I have a warrantyNow, the system isn't functioning again, but all the sudden I am told this part is not covered by the warranty, I finally got the warranty the company completed on 5/29/and send to *** *** but without my knowledge or signatureThey kept this warranty and just yesterday 11/8/I was sent his warranty, and informed that the part will cost me $to fix since its not coveredI have a contract that covers everything and now this company is not honoring the warranty on the contract

Excellent customer service Our technician Gerald was helpful, knowledgeable, and polite

Chris was very thorough and took the time to explain everything he was testing - very detailed and great customer service ARS has honored their service contract and goes to great length to ensure our systems are always working at top efficiency I'd highly recommend them

I used ARS Rescue Rooter/Weather Crafters in ***, VA to install a new water heaterOne year, one month later it was leakingThey said it was the tank leak when it was actually the pipeThey charged me for the visit with WRONG diagnosis as I discovered where the leak was after they told me to call *** the manufacturerThe ARS manager called me that afternoon and said they will come fix it after I complained to the service techThe next day the tech calls me back and says they'll do it for $*** after I was told they would fix it for free (I already gave them $** for the service call)Very POOR customer service and poor tech service too as I determined the problem after he missedThey also charged me $*** this winter to come check it out as my hot water was not heating properly (this was under one year)If you want a frustrating experience with poor service, then ARS is your companyI used a local plumber who charged me $*** to fix ARS's poor workmanship

Avoid this company at all costs! They gave me a competitive quote but the install has been a horrible processThe day of the install the three man team didn't have all of the parts they needed to finish the jobSo they had to schedule a second visit to come backThat's annoying but understandable...I guessHowever, before leaving the first visit they also discovered that they installed the unit in such a way that the utility door wouldn't shut and latch properly (a drainage pipe was sticking out)Thy said they'd fix that when they came back to finish the jobThe second job was scheduled, but the install guy canceled on me twice! When he finally arrived, he finished installing the parts, but couldn't figure out how to move the drainage pipe so that the utility door would close again (he seemed fine with having me keep the door ajar for the next 10-years aka the life of the HVAC unit)My utility closet if off of my kitchen and having the door ajar is an eyesore and honesty, it's their shoddy workSo I refused to sign off on the workThe install man said he'd come back for a third appointment with his manager so that they could figure out how to rework the drainage pipe and find a solutionThe install person and his manager canceled and reschedule on me another 2-times (often last minute...after I'd already changed my schedule)The manager and the original install person never cameInstead, they sent another guy overThis person has been the only competent person I've come in contact with at ARSHe was able to rework the line issue and the door is now able to close, but when he was finished with his job we ran a system check and he discovered issues from the original install being put in incorrectlyA few basic things too, like: they never internally switched on the furnace mechanismSo when it gets cold outside and I wanted to switch on the heat, nothing would have happened because the original install person seemingly messed up a number of issuesTo the credit of this third employee from ARS, he looked over the install and suggested I request a system check before signing off on the workSo I didI've been circled back to the original manager, EricHe finally came out to my house and agreed to run a system checkWhile looking over the system, he noticed another install issue - something with the gas pipes failing code and that the city would fail the install inspectionSo now I'm here, waiting for the manager to come to my house for the 5th visit from ARS to fix another issue from the horrible installationAnd to add to it, the manager has pushed back his appointment with me by two hours, and then said he'd like to cancel on me an hour before he's supposed to come again today!
In conclusion: This is a terrible companyI would not reccomend this business to anyoneIf I could, I'd have them rip out the system and I'd go with someone elseBy the way, I'm spending over $5,on this jobIt's not like I went with some cheap back ally optionAvoid this company like the plague!

Technician was very meticulous, took his time and explained everything he was doingAlso offered tips on how to maintain unit and new products to enhance operation

ARS of Ricmond (previously Weathercrafters) have been servicing my HVAC units since they installed my heating system in 2000.They come out every spring & fall prior to turning on the a/c or heaterChris was the tech who came out for my heater checkup on this visitI received his call well within the time given to meHe was friendly, courteous & very professionalAfter checking out the heating system, he performed a carbon monoxide test which I don't think has been done beforeWe then talked about carbon monoxide detectors & also different styles of thermostatsI was impressed by his knowledge

I would recommend ARS of Richmond They have been my HVAC company of choice since they were Weather Crafters and I have always been impressed by the knowledge and helpfulness of their technicians Chris A is especially attentive to details and provides not only thorough service, but also additional instruction and suggestions for maximizing the efficiency of all aspects of my HVAC system

Very professional organization with prompt call backs and knowledgeable staffIn particular I would like to commend Meagan (Service Coordinator) and Chris (SrService Tech) for their excellent serviceI initially had a different service organization provide a review of my furnace problem and they made an incorrect diagnosis with a very high quote on the incorrect partIf I had not called Weather Crafters, my repair would have been extremely expensive for a trial and error repair job by their competitorThanks again to Meagan and Chris

Mrs*** contacted us on through the *** *** on January 12, to give her an estimate on replacing her duct system. She had an issue with “grit” and dust in her house and had previously had another company perform a duct cleaning. We evaluated her situation and inspected her duct system (See Attached Photos) and gave her a proposal to replace some ductwork in the attic above the house and above the garage. The remaining ductwork was to be cleaned using our duct cleaning equipment (See Attached Agreement). We performed the work in a professional manor with the hope that we could resolve her issue. We performed the work on 01/19/and she signed off on our quality audit (See Attached Photos). Our Comfort Advisor made at least subsequent visits to her home to help try to resolve their issue. After cleaning the blower wheel in her existing air handler and rechecking the duct system, the customer suggested replacing the air handler because of some online research her husband had done regarding sources of dust and particulates. We followed up with a quote to replace the air handler for the customer and suggested the Trane Hyperion Series which has an epoxy coated coil and washable indoor surfaces. The unit is also positive pressure as opposed to negative pressure. We felt this would afford us the best opportunity to resolve her issues, there again without knowing exactly what the particulates were.
Upon her approval and the subsequent installation of the new air handler, we experienced some issues with the supply air sensor for her zoning system, causing the unit to enter a purge mode. We finally resolved by disconnecting zoning and installing a switching relay which allows her to control operation from upstairs or downstairs thermostat by flipping a switch in her garage. We hoped at this point we had solved her issues. Mrs*** informed our representative on May 10, that she had contacted a company called Air Quality to come to her house to help resolve the issues with “Grit” coming from her outlets. They suggested sealing some of the old supply ducting that had not been replaced and we accommodated Mrs*** at no charge
Mrs*** again contacted us on June 6, complaining that she was unable to run the air conditioning because of the “Grit” coming from her vents. Tony scheduled to revisit on June 8, to evaluate the issue with both Mrand Mrs***. Tony was unable to find the source of the “Grit” and suggested that they schedule a follow up appointment for Myself and Tony to revisit and see if I could possibly help solve the mystery of the “Grit”. He tried to schedule the visit for the 16th of June, by text and received a response that if it could not be done sooner, she would need to contact another company. Given the time of year and demand on the schedule of not one, but two members of a company we were unable to oblige, so it was assumed that she was indeed contacting another company which she had done previously. On the 16th, she contacted us and was angry that we had not come out as scheduled. We apologized for the misunderstanding regarding the text message received and schedules for me to go by and look at issue. I failed to show up on the scheduled day and time, and take full responsibility for missing the appointment. She contacted Jonnathan Jones, District Services Manager for *** *** and we scheduled a site visit with her on July 6th to find a resolution to the “Grit” Issue
We met on the 6th of June, and gathered history on the system and home and reviewed the above timeline provided by Tony Zupo. I performed an inspection of the duct system in the attics and the crawl space. I tried to determine what the “Grit” was and it’s possible origin so as to offer a solution. I was unable to find a definite source of the grit, but pointed out some items that I found such as material in holes of wall in garage, some type of white sealant used in attic to repair damage from either fire or water. I also noted that the bathroom exhaust fans were tied into the plumbing vent system for the home. I suggested that she provide us the results of the Blower Door testing done by Air Quality and also to collect the “Grit” for testing to determine its makeup and then hopefully from there its origin. I also offered to again, clean her duct system at no cost to her because I felt we should have cleaned the blower wheel of her old unit prior to cleaning the duct system. This was with the understanding that it may or may not solve her problem. We explained that the work we have done in an attempt to alleviate her problem has been approved by her at every step and we have made no guarantees that we would solve the “Grit” problem. I told her that if she found the origin of the particulate by having it analyzed by someone with that ability to do so, then we would work with her to solve the problem. We are unable to continue to work for free because we have met the terms of the agreements provided to her. We asked that she sign a release before performing the duct cleaning and she refused. Therefore, we are unable to proceed with cleaning of her duct system at this time
I am very sorry that she has continued to have these issues. We have provided her pricing and agreements on things she requested and have met the terms in those agreements. We did not create the issue and fell that we should not be forever responsible for it. We will continue to warranty our workmanship on the duct work installed by Weather Crafters and will honor all warranties on the equipment we installed. I hope that we can come to an amicable resolution that addresses all parties concerns
Thank You

The technician came in the stated time, completed all service and then reviewed everything with meHis suggestions for saving money were some I will consider in the future

ARS Weather Crafters and Wendell Bthe technician were wonderful I would recommend them to all Very professional and thorough service

I give a five star rating Wendell came on the same day we calledHe was professional and took the time to listen and was able to discern what the problem was quickly He went and got the parts and repaired the unit that afternoonI would recommend the company to friends

I had contracted ARS to replace a dated gas system in a home that I am renovating I was told the installation was going to be completed in one dayHowever, I went to the property around 5:PM on the day the installation was originally scheduled to be completed and I found that the thermostat was de-energized, the installation was incomplete, no techs were on site, and nobody could tell me when the installation would be completed or even why it wasn't already completed The house was vacant and freezing weather wasn't yet forecasted, so I took it with a grain of salt I called the company to request a callback from the installation manger to find out the status of the install and never received a call back They arrived back to the property two business days later to "complete" the installation I have several security cameras on the property (all in plain sight), and clearly watched the tech yank the new thermostat off of the wall and toss it onto the ground The weekend following the "completion" of the install, I went to the property to test the system and found that the heat didn't work The reason? The installer left the gas valve off, though the gas to the property was on and working This clearly evidences that the system wasn't properly tested after installationI called ARS and they sent the tech out, who told me the unit wasn't heating due to "insufficient gas to the system" Of course, my first question was "was the gas valve on?" To which of course he said no, it wasn't So now after ARS's THIRD visit, now the heat works But it doesn't stop thereI had to work underneath of the house (where the furnace is), so while I was down there, I looked over ARS's installation I found that the newly installed supply duct had not been insulated and that two of the room's duct work had been completely left off of that newly installed supply duct, meaning that two rooms were left without heat/ac I called and spoke with the installation manager and I let him know the original installation crew was not to step foot back onto this property He scheduled another crew to come the following business day to finally complete the installationI feel like this business would have gotten over on me with an incomplete & shoddy installation if I had not gone underneath of the house myself to check on the workmanship
